I've been coming here for years and tonight I received exceptional service. These fine employees here were like a well oiled machine obviously getting slammed with dinner rush. It was a bit of a wait for my turn but I could tell everyone was working as fast as possible. I appreciate efficiency. The food was fresh and craveable as usual. My friend and I placed a mobile order through the app. The system must have glitched or something because when I went to pick up the order, they told me the order had been placed twice. Brittany, who was working cash register, began to raise her voice at me, and when I tried to tell her that there should only be one order, she walked away from me when I was mid-sentence. Someone else then jumped in and asked if one of the orders needed to be cancelled, to which I responded yes please. Brittany then rolled her eyes at this request, despite the fact that I was just as confused as she was about the duplicate order. She walked away and started helping other people rather than finishing assisting me with receiving my order. Finally, I was handed the order and it was missing forks, and the straws for the drinks were all bent and squished at the bottom of the bag. The beef broccoli consists of chunks of broccoli and a few slivers of beef and the orange chicken is hard...eggs rolls are over cooked and you'll never get packs of soy sauce as requested in my orders! I like Panda Express in general, the food is usually decent, price is right, portion size is usually good, and its fast! But this Carmel Mtn. location has some serious issues. Unfortunately, it also happens to be the closest Panda to my house. Went there last night, ordered my usual 2 - 2 item combo plates. Sometimes when I get food here, the employees pile up the entrees and you definitely feel like you are getting your moneys worth. The last few times I have been here, portion size varies widely. Last night I barely was given one spoonful of Orange Chicken, despite having ordered double orange chicken for one of the plates. The orange chicken was almost out, and the employee scraped the bowl and spread out 3/4 of a spoonful to try to make it look like it was 2 entrees. Why wasn't I given the option to wait until a new bowl came out of the kitchen? The other plate had orange chicken and Kung Pao Chicken. That plate was filled first, but still, tiny spoon of both entrees. I would have ordered Beef and Broccoli, but for some reason, at this location, that entree is 95% broccoli with almost no beef to be seen. To make things worse, there were several people in front of me waiting for another entree to come out of the kitchen, and I was forced to wait for them before I could pay and leave. So the little food I did get was ridiculously cold by the time I got it. When I got home, I gave my husband his plate with the Kung Pao Chicken and Orange Chicken, and he asked me why the tiny portions? Then he tasted the Kung Pao Chicken and spit it out immediately. His eyes were actually watering from the spiciness of the entree. He likes spicy food, so I could not understand what was wrong with it, until I took a small bite myself. I literally burned my entire mouth from the spice on that entree. I felt sick and threw out the rest of the Kung Pao Chicken, and ended up giving hubs my orange chicken so he would have something to eat. It seems like the Kung Pao Chicken was very intentionally over spiced to the point where it was completely inedible. There is NO way anyone would have been able to eat that. This location needs employees that greet customers with a smile, and they need to learn portion sizes. Panda Express made getting takeout during these covid19 quarantine times extremely easy. We ordered and paid online, and our food was already packaged up on the table labeled "online orders" by the time we arrived. Floors were marked with squares that are 6 feet apart for those that are ordering on the spot and making their way through the line. There was also a sign outside indicating only 10 people are allowed inside at once. Thank you Panda for making efforts to keep the community safe! We got the $20 family meal with chow mein, steamed vegetables, egg plant tofu, bejing beef, and orange chicken. The fork/napkin come in individually packaged, and they hooked it up with many fortune cookies! Everything tasted like it should- like Panda! Once in awhile I love that nonauthentic deliciousness Chinese takeout vibe. It made me so nostalgic of the times I used to get Panda on my college campus haha. Side note: Not every Panda Express location serves the same entrees. This Carmel Mountain location was the only one around my area had both eggplant tofu & bejing beef. honestly this was a stupid experience. we ordered an hour ahead of the time we wanted to pick up our food which gave the employees plenty of time to complete the order. we were set to pick up the food at 6:40 and we've been waiting for over 25 minutes for the food. it was sitting on the counter not being bagged for 15 minutes and we reminded the employees that we're STILL waiting. it's now 7:10pm and we're still waiting. foods gonna be cold by the time we get home. not to mention there was a whole group of people waiting for their online orders and everyone got theirs before us. one guy had been waiting there longer than us. super upsetting experience. not related to the service but there was a lady who waltzed into the restaurant with a costco cart with her kid in it and looked like a million dollar crack addict. we got some free items for the inconvenience which was nice but other than that, their time management was not good and most of the employees weren't really doing anything except this nice blonde lady. read more

At approximately 5:20PM on September 25, 2023; my husband and I ordered two bigger plates. The manager of the store helped us get our rice and chow mein, while the only male cashier closed out our ticket. The male cashier asked if we wanted to donate and my husband agreed to have the total rounded up to $28. My husband handed him $40 and we watched as the cashier took $12 from the register but only handed my husband $2 while he placed the $10 bill on the counter. My husband asked for the rest of his change and we left. Not sure if it was accidental but management should review this cashier to ensure he hasn't done the same to other guests. read more

The food hasn't been consistent in the past couple months. We order the same thing usually, the orange chicken. The last order of orange chicken was very sour, like pure vinegar. We ordered the rangoons tonight and one of them had no filling. The egg rolls were crispy on the outside but soggy on the inside. What a bummer! This location used to have good reviews. This was the first (and will be my last) time at this Panda Express. The service was horrible, the employee getting my food was extremely rude even though we remained polite the whole time. We went around 7PM and there was nobody before or after us. The employee kept rushing us as we were trying to decide (for about 10 seconds) if we wanted a plate or bowl. The quantity was abysmal. I've never received so little food at Panda. I asked for the honey walnut shrimp (which has a surcharge of $1.25) and she gave me 5 shrimps and 2 honey walnuts. We were going to get more food in this order but decided against it after seeing how little they gave us in the first two bowls. We went elsewhere for food. I definitely recommend going to another Panda if you're craving it, or stopping by one of the many other restaurants in the plaza! This location is horrible. read more

I'd give this location 3.5 stars if I could. Went here off hours so food not being the most fresh is kind of to be expected. Not very busy around 3 pm. Got the Angus steak and king pow chicken. The Angus steak was definitely not fresh and had this old, previously frozen taste to it. I thought because there was a lot of it they had put it out recently but that was not the case. For a premium priced entree I was disappointed. Something that saves this location from a lower rating is the portion sizes: they are pretty big which is good, unlike other pandas I've been to. We went there yesterday. I'm not a panda express person I tried it ten plus years ago didn't like it then. My father n law picked it so we went. I knew there was a reason I didn't like it. We ordered food 3 sides they filled the box with two and gave us these tiny boxes with the other side fyi I paid extra for the "bigger" portions. My mother n law order hers 2 side she order two of them. They told qe needed to stand back as they prepared our meals. Don't laugh but I love PE chow mein. I think it's because there are no carrots in it. I hate carrots. I walked in because Costco's food court was closed and I knew PE closed at 9pm and perhaps I'd get more noodles since I was one of the last customers, but NOPE. I walked in and the staff seemed inefficient. There were 2 cooks and they were just talking up a storm - perhaps it's because it's almost closing. There are 2 people working the line - one was actually putting the food together and the other was cashier. Kind of inefficient because the lady behind the counter stayed with the customer ahead of me until she reached the cashier vs. handing off the entree to the next lady to take over. Just strange. It's challenging to rate a chain restaurant because you're really comparing it to other franchises which serve the same food. But I've always been aware that there are differences between franchises and like to point out when one is doing a good job. This is a very good Panda Express. Here's why: food turns over fast and is typically pretty fresh, the line moves quickly (staff are very efficient), and it's always very clean. Staff are curt but friendly. They give plenty of napkins and make sure and check if you need extras like soy sauce, etc. I've been to too many Pandas where the line is slow (out the door), food is past due to be rotated, and the place looks like a tornado hit it. This ain't one of those. This is our spot for that quick Chinese food fix. Good adherence to COVID-19 practices as well. Good job, Panda! read more

I'm sorry to say that yes, I am a fan of Panda Express.... in limited quantities. Yes, I'm Chinese and should be ashamed of myself for saying this but I sometimes just want me some fake Chinese food! I love getting a kid's meal here because the kid's meals are plenty to keep me full. I'm in love with the chow mein and would eat honey walnut shrimp for breakfast, lunch, and dinner (sadly). This particular panda express is spacious and clean and has plenty or parking shared with Costco. I also like that they have an outdoor seating area just in case you want to bask under the sun while you eat. Even though all Panda Express locations have pretty much the same menu selection, I like this one because of the location! Panda Express is one of hubby's fave fast food places but we only visit a handful of times a year and it's a nice treat when we do. We grabbed some take-out on a whim recently on a Sunday night, after Costco had closed (it's shares parking with Costco) and so there was plenty of parking. We ordered a 3 item plate of chow mein, orange chicken, black pepper chicken and firecracker chicken. The food was the right temperature and the taste consistent with what we're used to. I do feel like their portion sizes are a tad skimpy for the price, but it won't stop us from coming back. HEED THIS WARNING! 6pm today. EMPLOYEES DON'T WEAR GLOVES; HANDLE BOTH MONEY AND FOOD; ALL employees share the same utensils! Unbelievable reaction when we pointed out that the employee working the register (without gloves; nobody had gloves), who took our money, had previously put the last food item into our meal plate (contaminating the utensils other employees use to serve food); and went on to serve the next customer, because our short conversation about NON-SANITARY handling of food was eventually passed to the on-shift manager. VERY UNSANITARY! Especially right now, COVID-19!!! We addressed it with the on-shift manager, and she acknowledge they should be wearing gloves, but said "we don't have gloves." We identified this specific issue: The same person (without gloves) working the register, taking cash and credit cards from customers, would go over to where the food is, and use the same utensils as her co-workers and put food into the plates (CONTAMINATING UTENSILS for ALL the other employees who don't touch cash/credit cards), then return to the register; WITHOUT WASHING HANDS!!! REALLY???? And the on-shift manager said: "We wash every so often." NOT RETURNING!!!! We were upset, wanted to return the food, but felt bad enough for having the conversation in the first place; why do I, the customer, feel bad and I still payed for (possibly) contaminated food? This is one of the best panda express branch in all san diego. Employees are always friendly, food is always fresh because of costco crowd there is a big circulation of food. Sad performance by Panda Express today. First off I get the premium Shanghai steak and I only get a tiny portion of that (8 small pieces of meat). Then I get half n half, chow mein and fried rice, and I get very little chow menu compared to normal. I usually avoid chains, but this is an ok place. The food is consistently good and the staff is really nice. My only complaint is the shrimp portions. Its not the staff's fault, but there is a specific number of shrimp they're allowed to give per portion size. So you get 7 shrimp, regardless of if the box is full. You're paying the same amount (plus extra for shrimp entrees!) but over time the portions have decreased. I don't think thats fair, regardless of where the economy currently is (per everyones default excuse). read more
