We came here to grab some late dinner. It's located near the Costco, so very convenient. Food was great and had good price. Service was nice. The workers should wipe the tables from time to time though. Just a note that honey walnut shrimp and black pepper angus steak do cost an extra $1.25.

Needed a quick pick-up when we were in the area and made a stop here. Usually big fans of PE but not on this visit. They were out of brown rice and tofu. There was also a maskless person who seemed to be itching for an argument but thankfully listened to the staff who asked her to wait outside while they brought out her food.

    Here's what I ordered!

The music speaker was on-and-off (but it is ok). The Lazy Susan was not spinning smoothly. Our service was good. Food came fast. I will attach a photo of our first dishes. Fried rice (shrimp and beef): it was not bad. Better than in many other places I tried so far. 3,5/5 Sweet and Sour Pork: good dish. Had too much of sweet-sour sauce but my husband liked. 3,75/5 Orange chicken: I'm not a fan of this dish, it is too much breading as for me. Maybe 2,5-3/5 Mongolian beef: I liked it! I like a little spicy food. It was my favorite dish. I tried Mongolian beef for the 1 time, so I liked it. 4/5 Combination veggie egg foo young: some people liked veggies- I didn't. I liked egg part more. 2/5 Walnut shrimp: I have a high standard for walnut shrimp. My father-in-law makes it the best! Well, my friends liked sauce, I didn't. Not enough glaze on walnuts. 3,5/ Combination chow fun: I did not like. Not enough sauce maybe or seasoning. 2/5 We had a bonus - rice. Good Tap water tastes like chlorine (for some people might be not ok) Average I would put 3,5. For a small town with no other Chinese restaurants - fine (not including noodle places).

And we got that wish as the taciturn waitress tossed menus on to our table and walked away. The usual Chinese fare and prices were very reasonable. We ordered won ton soup, fried rice and a port chow mein. Totally flavorless... A rater, Richard, said the food was not bad but made for white/old white people. Also that Chinese food is about flavor first. Well, the Golden Gong must have missed that cultural message as nothing had flavor at all. We left most of the food on the table and without comment, or response from the taciturn waitress, left. Not recommended at all. At least it was clean.

You order at the counter and are given a number. Since they weren't very busy, they brought the food to my table, which I appreciated. The prices were on the high side, though fairly typical for many Vietnamese restaurants in California. I ordered the pork platter with rice and fried egg rolls. The portion size was about right. The rice was fine--nothing particularly memorable. The pork was a generous serving and had visible grill marks, but it didn't seem freshly grilled. It appeared to have been grilled previously and then reheated. It was served hot, but the texture and presentation were not what I would expect from freshly grilled meat. Fresh off the grill would have made a noticeable difference. The egg rolls were crispy on the outside, but the filling was dry and fairly unremarkable. They weren't bad, but they weren't a standout item either. The plate also came with iceberg lettuce, sliced tomato, cucumber, and pickled carrot and radish. The cucumber was fine, while the pickled vegetables were a bit more sour than I prefer. The biggest surprise was the dipping sauce for the egg rolls. Instead of the typical Vietnamese dipping sauce, which is usually one of my favorite parts of the meal, this version had quite a bit of chili added and was much spicier than expected. Some people may enjoy that, but it wasn't what I was anticipating. Overall, the meal was good, but not memorable enough to justify going out of my way for it. The prices felt a little high given the fast-food atmosphere. If I happened to be in the area again, I might stop in and give it another try, but I wouldn't make a special trip to return.

But the point is that she wasn't even nice about it and said OK fine I'll give you a menu. When I finally made my decision, I asked her if I needed it to be on the other line or the line that she was standing at and she retorted - please give me a minute. There was no kindness. There was no common courtesy, just a matter of fact approach to really, an out of towner, tourist, who's just trying to give her restaurant's food a shot. I'm just really shocked at the rudeness. I proceeded to order the flat Thai noodles with mung beans and chicken. It came. It was fresh. But honestly, it lacks any flavor. Sorry. It was a disappointment. I'm from South East Asia. I know what I'm talking about. I would be generous to give them a 3/5. Sorry. It's not very good food at all. Which means there's nothing to say about this place other than - step up your Thai food game. Or be nice at least.

For food, we ordered two orders of the chicken satay, the pad thai, yellow curry, and two mango sticky rice desserts to share. Overall, the food was delicious. The chicken satay was probably my least favorite dish of everything we ordered, but it was still good. The standouts for us were definitely the Pad Thai and the yellow curry. The real star of the meal, however, was the mango sticky rice. It was one of the best versions I've had. What made it special was how balanced it was the coconut cream and sticky rice had a savory taste that paired well with the sweet mango perfectly. Many mango sticky rice desserts I've tried are overwhelmingly sweet, but this one had great balance and the mangoes were perfectly ripe and sweet. All five of us absolutely loved it. The reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the service. The staff were friendly, but not very attentive. My friends and I are Filipinos, we typically eat our meals with a spoon and fork. When our food arrived, we immediately asked for spoons, but they never came. We ended up making do with just our forks for the entire meal. The server checked on us a little after receiving our meals and asked how everything tasted, but after that we rarely saw anyone until we were nearly finished. There were a few things we requested that never made it to the table. Overall, the food was excellent and I would definitely come back, especially for the mango sticky rice. The service wasn't bad, but a little more attentiveness would have made the experience much better.
