I typically order here or visit once or twice a month. My go-to order is the egg drop soup...my kids love it, they ask for it constantly. However, this last time I had to toss the soup out, as it contained some weird black thing in it. I attempted to provide feedback to the restaurant via their website, but that feedback was completely ignored sadly. Aside from that, you really can't go wrong here. The lunch specials are decent, but they should really expand the menu options as well. read more

Made an impromptu visit to Panda Inn since it's been on my list to try for a very long time and I was out in the Glendale area. Loved the spot truly and a super delicious lunch! Off the top I will say this is definitely a very much more upscale from their more well known Panda Express and is perfect for a group dinner. Ambiance of the place feels very simple and sleek but it a higher elegant feel. I didn't have to wait very long even though it was a Sunday and was sat to my table quickly. Our waiter was really attentive and helped us throughout our meal. I first chose to get their house made ginger ale which was freshly made and honestly really good! Their menu is very very extensive with a lot of their popular main dishes like orange chicken and walnut shrimp but also so many other options. You can also get regular size of family size, but I opted for the regular size since I came with a group of 3 and we chose for more options! We got the orange chicken (9/10), walnut shrimp (1000/10), string beans (7/10), phoenix chicken (10/10) and the rice pudding for dessert (9/10). The best for me was the walnut shrimp because it was just so warm and SO tasty like every bit of it was amazing! Orange chicken was good but nothing too different. Phoenix chicken was so great as well, it got better with every bite I took and so crunch! The rice pudding was also different since it's black rice, like more chewy but the combination with the ice cream was so amazing! Overall, I loved this lunch experience and I will definitely coming back to try some more! read more

Since our last visit, they now take reservations which we thought was a good thing. We arrived on a Friday night at 7:30. We didn't wait long before being led to a table. For the next 15 minutes, we watched as staff struggled to get literally every table around us their food, clear their tables, and reset everything. At the end of this, us and the table next to us where the only ones left in the area. Then for the next 10 minutes, the staff dropped off waters but then then filled all the tables around us back up. Finally, they took our orders... and then we saw every table that arrived after us get their foods first. Some even finished and left before we got our main courses (we ordered sizzling rice soup which came out first). The other original table pretty much suffered our same fate. After 55 minutes. We finally got our food. Beyond our immediate area was a large group and a private group in the back so we did understand they were busy and the staff did apologize for the long wait--however it's the tables that arrived after us eating and finishing before us that gives me pause. I try to be understanding but I cannot understand THAT. Their order went in after ours and even if they went in at the same time, ours should have been prioritized as we'd already been waiting a LONG time. Beyond the wait, the serving staff was courteous and very gracious when we ordering and when bringing out food. No complaints about attitude, or food quality, but about prioritization. One the food arrived, hangry dissipated and our group enjoyed the panda beef, fish with black bean sauce, upside down noodles, and chicken with garlic. I do plan to return but hope they can address or remedy egregious wait times. It was bizarre since so many (non-waiting staff) kept coming into our area. One person in particular kept surveying the tables to check progression but I guess never passed info on about tables that had been waiting LONG times to order and then were waiting for food. read more

The much anticipated Panda Inn finally reopened two months ago in November of 2024. The interior is spacious, modern, grand, upscale and elegant. The exterior feels more like the entrance of a fancy hotel than a restaurant due to the semi-circle drive-way. There is a parking garage in the back and parking is free. We came on a Saturday night and the place was already booked by reservations. Instead, we came early at 4:45pm to try our luck and we ended up getting seated at the bar for two people! For drinks, we ordered the smoke and pepper margarita. I loved it. It had complex flavors: it was sweet, spicy and sour with a hint of bitter aftertaste. For appetizers, we got the moo-shu wraps with chicken. The server wrapped it for us and you can have the plum sauce inside the wrap or without. The portion was quite generous and I was already half full after that one appetizer. For entrees, we got the Phoenix chicken and eggplants and tofu. I had the Phoenix chicken 15 years ago and the flavor tasted the same. I wish for a higher chicken to batter ratio. I felt like there was too much batter and not enough chicken. Still, the dish was delicious both in flavor and texture. The eggplants and tofu dish was good too. That is one of my favorite Chinese dishes. You get both protein and vegetables in one dish. I would like to come back with more people and try their sushi, lychee martini, yuzu lemon drop, Taiwanese braised pork belly with rice, crispy noodles and the seafood platter. We ordered a variety of dishes--spicy tuna on crispy rice, kung pao chicken, orange chicken, broccoli beef, and lo mein--and every single item was absolutely delicious. The spicy tuna on crispy rice was perfectly balanced with great texture and flavor, and all the classic dishes were cooked perfectly--fresh, flavorful, and super satisfying. You can really tell they put care into the quality of their food. Everything came out hot, well-prepared, and full of flavor. Definitely one of those meals where you enjoy every bite. Had a birthday celebration at Panda Inn and we got a reservation down just in case the location was super busy. Only challenging part was finding close parking but there are a bunch of lots available to park at. Got seated quickly and got started to with the feast. Customer service was fast and attentive to us and the other busy tables around us. Making sure finished dishes are removed from the table and offering to pack our leftovers for us. The stand out dishes in my opinion were the: Eggplant and Tofu Panda Beef Panda Rice Walnut Shrimp -Eggplant and Tofu: eggplant breaks apart in your mouth easily (not for people who aren't into that squishy texture). The tofu was a nice addiction to help add firm texture to the dish. Then the flavorful sauce combine it all together. -Panda Beef: SLIGHT CRISP AND SAUCED UP. I love the flavor of the sauce and the crisp of eating it. -Panda Rice: I thought it was gonna be a fried rice but it is hard to describe physically. But taste wise, it gives you the savory with the sauce and big shrimps.. then it balance it with the traditional white rice. -Walnut Shrimp: Plump shrimps and the mayo sauce wasn't overpowering compared to other places. The honey walnut is always the cherry on the top of the dish. The only dish that was whatever for me the sweet and sour soup. It felt like it was missing something that I can't put my taste buds on. (So please someone try and let me know if they feel the same or I should give it another try) WARNING: all dishes are pretty hot so passing it up and down the table isn't ideal. I wish they had more of those circular table with the revolving glass to make sharing food easily for our party of 10. The quality of food is just as I remember it, and I ordered all of my same favorites just to be sure! A true staple in Glendale! Located on the corner of Maryland and Wilson is in my opinion the best Chinese in Glendale! Super friendly staff and management. The wait has never been longer than 10-15 minutes to be seated so don't worry unless you come during a rush(not my problem, I can wait for good food). You are welcomed into this beautiful high ceiling dining area with round tables for bigger families and more manageable sized tables around for that special person or that third wheel we sometimes can't say no too lol. It's always welcoming here. The lighting, plants, professional staff, and seating arrangements all make it feel feng shui. Always an amazing experience here. ALWAYS. Now let's get to the top tier items that complete my heart. For starters we get the HOT and SOUR soup, it's amazing. Almost refreshing, you can taste the white pepper, the eggs, bamboo shoots, mushrooms and that punching pungency from the rice vinegar! So good. It's amazing! And those pan fried noodles, BEST OF THE BEST. So much flavor from the wok, it pairs well with their GOD TIER Phoenix chicken! Truly phenomenal combo. i would say this is like a more authentic panda express! a little backstory about this place: this has been open since 1982. first panda express was opened in 1973 in Pasadena. they then opened another location here in glendale in 1982. then, they decided to have a new concept at the glendale galleria mall that was like fast food and is now known as panda express! super cool what we got: chow fun with vegetables (1000/10 yums): probably the best chow fun i have ever had. not only was it saucy, but each noodle was coated well and the noodles were chewy. they also tasted really great as leftovers. orange chicken (100/10 yums): i recommend trying this at least once. very classic orange chicken but with more of a chinese taste compared to the panda express version. well fried and not soggy! sweet and sour pork (10/10 yums): not usually a HUGE pork fan but this was good! i liked the tangy sauce! cup of corn and chicken soup (10/10 yums): classic dish for many chinese restaurants. came out super piping hot and was so good. wok fried scallop (8/10 yums): i was looking forward to this but i didn't realize that it was a battered scallop dish as the description wasn't clear about it. super great taste however, but i always feel that battered seafood for me just isn't my thing. definitely recommend if it is though! overall, great and will be back. service was great as well! read more

I am not sure if this was the Panda Inn she took me to some 30+ years ago but I am going to say it was, just let me have that. When we arrived it was busy so we opted to sit at the bar to avoid the wait. As we sat we were engaged by a Sushi Chef (David). Although he was wearing a mask you could see he was flashing a big warm smile. However, I am a tool and thought he was the bartender. A pleasant and fun conversation with Chef David ensued. He explained to us sushi newbs what sushi was all about. He even talked my date and I into a roll. She has always said "NO" to sushi so this was a pleasant surprise. We watched as this man crafted the best tasting sushi we have ever had. It was so amazing we devoured it all. The rest of the food was as great as I remember as a kid but Chef David stole the show and almost even my date. The place was also very clean and beautiful. Came here for my mother's birthday - and I've been to other Panda Inn locations so I was excited to take everyone here for their first time. This location is so much more modern and has a large bar! Sodas were flat - so had to keep switching. Ordered: Mongolian Beef - great flavor, but sauce was slimy. Combination fried rice Orange chicken - extremely spicy and I love spice! ( I am aware that this recipe had dried chili's in it - as I have been to other locations - but this time around less than 1/2 of the dish was touched) Shrimp Lo-mein - noodles were cooked well, good amount of veggies. Bok choy with mushrooms - extremely bland, tasted like they were just boiled Walnut Shrimp - usually my favorite dish but it was lacking the sauce - shrimp was cooked well and was not greasy Tuna Carpaccio - refreshing, didn't taste fishy, a little kick The whole meals just lacking - I did have to use soy sauce and chili paste to flavor majority of it. Service needed to be flagged down many times d/t sodas being flat and the food being served in an odd order and needed to be reminded of missing items. We made a reservation for 7:30, got there on time, and when our name was called, someone else went in place of us--it was a little awkward but one of the hostess saw what happened and made sure we got the next table available.
