Why is the best south East Asian food in the middle of no where ?! Live no where near here and we have zero good south East Asian food. I'm blown away at how delicious this place is. The outside doesn't match the surrounding neighborhood. It's so cute and very homie feeling. Once you enter you get transformed back to the early 2000's at a Thai grandmas house. They also have dimsum which I did not get but I'm intrigued because it's probably Thai Chinese fusion which I will want to come back next time to try. Food was phenomenal. The stew was light despite what it looks like and My crab curry was sooooo good. There's not actual crab in it but a crab patty on top. Brown rice was tender which I appreciate bc not all places have soft brown rice. The Thai ice tea was different from what I normally had which was such a surprise! They use coconut milk ! I'm obsessed. But I think the coconut shrimp rolls stole the show. There's big shrimp with coconut pieces. And soooo hot and crispy. Service was great too. We were seated right away and when I forgot my togo bag they ran out to give it to me. 5/5 would recommend. I wasn't the were closer.

Lamb shank - a must order!

We had an absolutely excellent meal here. Really unique menu options (so many things we wanted to try) and everything was excellent. The lamb shank and bang bang chicken and shrimp were both highlights (although they could have been a bit more generous with the amount of shrimp). But the most exciting part for us as a family of 5 was how creative and interesting the kids meals were. For one, the 4 sate skewers with sticky rice were perfect. For another the "buttered noodle" with Thai rice noodle and some coconut and peanut flavor was great. We'll definitely be returning - excited to try the weekend dim sum as well.

Hit or miss BYO. We enjoyed the chicken satay & the curries. Service is very rushed - even if you ask the wait staff to take their time. The menu is enormous and confusing with apps in 2 different places. Not a place I would go to too often but once in a while it's fine.

I came across this spot for lunch and ordered the Singaporean Mae Fun lunch special and it came to a little over $8. When I arrived I parked in the lot. I couldn't tell where the entrance was at first but I found it. I walked in and after the lady finished her call with a customer, she gave me my food and I paid and left. When I got in I ate and I didn't particularly care for the dish. I didn't like the flavors too much. All in all I had an ok experience.

I was here for brunch and it was definitely different. The chicken wings was delicious and the little appetizer was great.

This is my fourth time here and I love everything that I ordered. I love the tropical fried rice. That was delicious and was recommended by the waitress.

We called ahead to make sure they would be open when we arrived around 8:45pm, and they were very accommodating when we arrived with a group of 5. It felt authentic, and the food was exactly what I was dreaming about. My husband and brother shared a Rijsttafel, which they said was very good. My husband said it was a 4.25/5, and next time he would want a normal dish. I wish they had a vegetarian Rijsttafel (like in the places we found in Amsterdam), but they had a ton of vegetarian dishes regardless. I went a little overboard and ordered the tofu sate, gado gado, and kare sayur. The tofu sate with the peanut sauce was amazing, but my favorite was the gado gado. I was so happy. That peanut sauce is incredible. The waitress said the kare sayur is a popular dish with vegetarians, but it didn't blow me away like the other dishes. It was a trek to get out here from Manhattan, but I would do it again. The two ladies working at the restaurant were so warm and friendly. I was very happy.

We opted for the 15 course dinner that samples through their entire menu. It is a perfect amount of food for two people and I recommend this experience very much. The meal starts with a cozy chicken and noodle broth soup which was so warming and comforting, just what the doctor ordered in this weather. The second round of food was two types of salad and a corn fritter. I loved the pickled salads as they had a nice crunch to them and tasted delicious. The fritters are a good size but a little bit greasier than I liked. The last round is where all the curries are brought out on a hot plate. There's shrimp, lamb, beef rendang, chicken, tofu etc. There's also white rice and skewers of chicken and beef satay coated in a delicious peanut sauce. Some of the curries I liked very much - like the fried tofu and the sauce on the shrimp curry was divine. Beef rendang fell a little flat for me as it wasn't as decadent, thick or spicy like authentic rendang is. The lamb curry had a sweet taste which I found a little odd. The chicken satay was juicy and delicious but the beef satay was rubbery and hard to chew and a weird texture. I definitely expect better from a satay skewer. Our server was kind and kept the flow of the food going. The final course is a little coconut pandan flan which was very very good but the texture is firmer than what I like. Flan should definitely be a bit softer and creamier. Either way it's tough to nail a 15 course dinner expertly but I do think if they made a few needed changes to the quality of food this would easily be a 5 star experience! If you live nearby, definitely give this beautiful cozy family run restaurant a try!!

They have a pre fix menu mostly (it changes every month), but on Saturdays, they do the giant Liwetan communal eating, which is served on a banana leaf and meant to be eaten with your hands. Let me just start by saying that we are Hardena groupies. I have almost broken my phone screen trying multiple times to get my hands on a #notpizza box during the pandemic. This was the brainchild of Chef Diana at Hardena, and it was truly one of the only bright spots from COVID. Anyway, this is Chef Diana's own restaurant (her family still owns Hardena), and while the flavors and sambal (hot sauce) are very similar to Hardena, she makes Indonesian food truly beautiful with her creativity. The plating is that of a Michelin star / James beard winning restaurant. I mean, just look at this giant dumpling that is shaped so beautifully and then really imaginatively placed inside a red cabbage leaf in a bowl. I'm used to Indonesian food being served from a warming tray in takeout boxes so this really blew my mind. They serve three different sauces (2 sambals and a sweet one). Everything was spectacular, and the dishes keep getting bigger in the 5 course pre fixe (not including dessert, but this was a very nice size). Each dish was explained to us carefully and gently delivered by Chef Diana's wife. There are only about 6 tables so reservations are limited (and you pre pay). They do have a vegan menu, but you have to let them know ahead of time or else they have to scramble (which they graciously did tonight for a walk in). They also gave my mom tea when she asked for it, even though that's not something they normally offer. The interior is super cute and well-decorated, and that pink neon sign really shines nicely through the window. I will have to try to resist temptation every time we pass this (which is often), but I'm already thinking about when we can go back! Don't sleep on Rice & Sambal!

Probably not ideal for multiple large groups at the same time but we made reservations early, and easily got a reservation for 8ppl. These were our shared menu choices (shared by 4ppl): ~ Salad Daun Teh Hijau $14 (green tea leaf salad w.cabbage, tomatoes, beans & green chillies): tasty Indonesian version of the tea leaf salad! I prefer the Burmese version but this salad was pretty tasty! ~ Nasi Lemak Rendang $17.75 (Beef Rendang w.spicy egg, anchovy, pickles; w.coconut rice): the portion size of beef rendang was very small but this dish was probably not meant for sharing, and more of an individual plate. It was delicious, nonetheless less! The accompaniments were terrific!! ~ Nasi Iga Bakar $22 (BBQ Ribs w.white rice): after seeing an IG video, this particular dish was on our radar! As with most social media, it heightened our expectations but it did not meet those expectations. Don't get me wrong: this was still a delicious dish; just not as great as depicted on those dang videos. lol The ribs could have been cooked a tad bit longer for tenderness but the flavors were great! ~ Nasi Goreng Petai $19 (fried rice w.shrimp & stinky beans): I've never had this dish before and the "stinky beans" weren't Stinky at all! Hahaha The large shrimps in the fried rice were perfect. Tasty dish! ~ Mie Goreng Belacan $17.50 (stir-fried shrimp paste noodles): This was a fave dish amongst the group. So flavorful and satisfying! * Don't sleep on the two hot sauces provided on your condiments tray! The bottle of Sambal Asli hot sauce was great; slightly sweet but spicy! BUT... beware of the other nondescript hot sauce in the squeeze bottle...which was FIRE!!! If you can handle this FIRE, then go for it...otherwise, proceed with caution! Hahaha. You've been warned! Service and hospitality were great; friendly, welcoming and efficient. I look forward to a return visit to explore their many other menu items!
