What institution in the South does not offer Sweet Tea as a drink option? As the store manager told me today, "Apparently Panera." You've got to be kidding me? Oh, they have quite a selection of exotic tea drinks, or you may purchase unsweetened tea and then pump a sugar-based simple syrup into it to sweeten, per individual taste. Really? When I approached the store manager, she seemed absolutely uninterested in my comments. She stated that everyone who had come into the restaurant had complained about it. I suppose that after you hear the same opinion over and over that you become immune and hardened to further comments. I will not be eating at this restaurant until Sweet Tea, and I mean REAL Sweet Tea, is put back on the menu as a drink option. I encourage others who drink Sweet Tea to follow suit. Panera Bread on Gunbarrel Road Chattanooga has dealt well with the Pandemic through high quality, personable service, great food and adjusted open hours. The only thing I miss - especially during any COVID case surge, like the current one - is the plexiglass at the in-cafe ordering counter, particularly if employees are not wearing masks! (I do mostly use mobile ordering.) Otherwise I think this location is doing an amazing job!!! read more

In a cold, rainy day like today, my daughter and I thought that we would go enjoy some soup. Now Panera is always good, I can't fault them there. Great pastries and food, fresh quality and nice clean restaraunt. Plus a ton of options, food wise and at least 5 different types of cold teas. And they deliver! When you're inside you have a few options to order...in line, on your phone or on these little kiosks. Either way, you take your number disc and the food is brought to your table. I love they have a lot of seating options, table, booths, and bench seating. They have a glass enclosed gas fireplace near the door that's pretty and adds to the ambience. I am not a fan of their coffee. They have a decent size coffee menu, and I have had everything from drip coffee to lattes to cold coffees. I think it tastes pretty burnt most of the time. My cappuccino came with absolutely no foam on it. NO FOAM. So needless to say, I avoid the coffee. Today my daughter ordered a cup of soup, while I got a bowl. The only difference in serving size was the bowl used, I swear. The amount in my large, oversized bowl looked the same as her's, in the small cup. For 8 bucks, I think they can afford to put a little more soup in the bowl, just one girls opinion. Also, kids meals come with no drink?? I get that they have their healthy kids initiative and all but really? Besides those small things, I will still come here time to time when I get a craving for soup and salad. read more

One of the nicest Panera's I've been to. Service was good and restaurant appeared to be clean. Unlike most, they bring order to the table. Also unlike most, they did not ask if I wanted to leave a tip, before I'd received or even eaten my meal. (I really dislike that, btw...some Panera's ask for the tip during the ordering process and then you realize you placed the order, got your own drink, picked up your own food and then when done...you bus your own table. Tell me why we are tipping, again? ) My food was fresh and arrived promptly. If I had to complain about anything, it would've been the unpleasant odor that was lingering in the back of the restaurant as you got in the range of the drink machines. Not sure what the odor was, coulda been a food I didn't care for, coulda been a customer...who knows. Easy fix, sat at front of restaurant. Problem solved and no need to ding their rating over. I'll be back next week when I return to Chattanooga. read more

Cleanliness is their biggest downfall. Place is wonderful if you are doing takeout because the food is consistent and good for the most part, but if you are dining in I'd reccomend bringing some cleaning supplies. Bench seating always dirty with food pieces in crevices, high chairs dirty, bathrooms not cleaned well, beverage station not cleaned well... The food is prepared well but if the front of the house has an unclean appearance than what does the back of the house look. read more

I've been a loyal customer to the Mediterranean Veggie sandwich for years and decided to venture onto trying a new sandwich. I tried the Tomato Mozzarella flathead sandwich, and it did not disappoint. Yummm! I love eating at Panera! They always have fresh and delicious food. Their drinks and pastries are yummy too. I'm a chai tea latte person, and theirs is great. My "go to" drink when I want something other than water. If you get yourself their rewards card/account, you get great discount deals and occasionally free stuff. You can also order online and just pick it up when you're in a rush. It's quite convenient because I can order online when I get off work and pick my order up on my way home. =) read more

Peel back the comfy seats and chairs, ignore the above-average appointments in the dinning area, pretend there's no stone or wood evident, and you'll discover that Paneras is ..... well..... Fast Food. However, it's GOOD fast food. They've proved that food can be made to order, be priced reasonably, and taste wonderful. They've got the act of 'food assembly' drawn to an art form. Okay, sometimes they're busy, but GEE! You really wanna eat someplace that's NOT busy during rush periods? Whatz wit dat, huh? Use the time in the wait line to decide what you want to go along with the To Die For Mac 'n Cheese, right? If only they'd serve their Mac 'n Cheese in a Bacon Bowl!! I love Panera bread but not this location, I ordered lunch from this location and had it delivered to my office at Erlanger east not even 5 minutes away from the restaurant and when I received the food it was too cold . I was hungry so I ate it anyway because I hate wasting money , about 20-30 minutes later my lower stomach starts aching , I barley made it to the bathroom in time or I would've crapped myself with diarrhea . I have never had any problems with Panera food before and the Northgate location is great but the Gunbarrel location gave me and another coworker diarrhea . read more

This Panera location has all the greatness of most others I've been to when it comes to the pastries and the soups - The soups are excellent - I noted this for the other Panera location as well, but my top pics would be the Cream of chicken and wild rice..., and then the Sonoma chicken stew. With a baguette on the side - makes for an excellent main course. The best thing at any Panera as far as I'm concerned is the bakery - specifically the scones. You cannot go wrong ordering a cinnamon scone here. All of the scones (bluberry, orange, etc) at panera are great, cookies and muffins are good as well. This location has a nice amount of natural lighting, free wifi (limited from noon-2pm) and a fair amount of outlets... usually in nicely accessible spots. I found one outlet on the wall about 7-8 feet up near the entrance here. Maybe those outlets are there to welcome pro basketball players and Germans. ;) Despite having its own parking lot - it's not always easy to park here - you may find yourself circling for a spot on the weekends. All in all - a good Panera location - welcoming to all pastry lovers and computer nerds, short and super tall. read more

I love their You Pick 2 items. I like that there is iced tea in addition to soda. The fun part is also getting free items when you sign up for their Panera card. I've been there when there has been a line and they are pretty quick. It works with their paging system. Your pager goes off, go to the counter, and your food is good to go. The reason for 4 and not 5 stars? I ordered my food to go and they didn't give me any utensils. I didn't realize that until I got to the hotel room. I had to go and get some utensils from the hotel. When you get to your room and are ready to eat, you want to be able to eat. read more

Amazing! We've been buying our breakfast sandwiches from Starbucks for the past few months and then, I witnessed them unwrapping my order from a freezer package. I was mortified! So obviously we said no more! Panera has the freshest, and most flavorful food. It's nice to be able to order some sandwiches and know that they were made fresh from fresh ingredients. It may cost a few dollars more and may take a few extra minutes for your order, but it's 100% worth it because what we are getting is fresh, freshly prepared food. I would much rather pay a few extra dollars and wait a little bit longer to have actual food rather than something frozen that at one point was thawed out And all of the ingredients slept till one end, only to be reefrozen and then put in some toaster and when you get it all of the good stuff is literally in the last three bites. Starbucks absolutely sucks and all of its food is frozen and then put in toasters. I can do that at home. Panera is the way to go! read more

I usually love Panera but after being talked to like I was stupid at the register and then never hearing my name called for my order, I am disappointed. I sat around waiting to hear my name and they never called it. Then once I got my chai latte it tasted like a candle. Nothing like a normal chai latte. I enjoy this Panera early in the morning when the fireplace is going and the hazlenut coffee has just been put out. The breakfast sandwiches and the pastry are fast and delicious! It's so much nicer than pulling through a drive through, so I just leave a few minutes early and make it a point to bring my laptop and enjoy the wi-fi. This is a pretty busy spot. Often during the day parking can be an issue. Sometimes you need to park in the Target parking lot and risk your life crossing the road to eat here. We've had good experience here for the most part though. The place seems well run and staff are helpful. They have a little outdoor seating which is nice and also a little fireplace nook indoors. I think the place is freezing when I'm here though. There is a weird part of the restaurant on the side entrance. There is only room for one person to fit in the hall where the trash can is and they also happens to be where the restrooms and entrance are. Bad planning there. Anyway. This is a good place to get a sandwich, salad, pastry, etc. read more

Though the food is usually quite good, and the seating options including around the fire are inviting, I usually avoid Panera due to the LONG wait for the items. I have yet to visit without a size able wait. A recent visit for only a smoothie and bagel took over thirty minutes. They could not figure out how to toast the bagel without burning it. Put in an online order at 10 am for curbside pickup. Scheduled it for 12 noon thinking with a 2 HOUR head start surely I won't have to wait long. WRONG! I arrived right at 12 noon, hit "I'm here" on my confirmation email, got my acknowledgement saying they would be right out, then sat, and sat, and sat! For 20 minutes I sat, watched 3 cars in adjoining curbside pickup parking spots come, get their food and go. Ar the 20 minute mark I got out and went in to ask about my order, it hadn't been made yet! The food I ordered 2 hours ago wasn't ready or even started!!!! I told the girl I either wanted my food or a refund because my lunch time was up and I had to return to work. She disappeared into the back and I never saw her again. I went back to my car tried to call the store , direct number, no one would answer. Finally 5 minutes later someone arrived with my food. The delay made me late returning to work. I only gave 2 stars because the food is fantastic, but the service sucks. read more

As far as deli's go, Panera is one of the best in the area. The variety of food is very good, with many different types of baked goods made daily, and a variety of soups available as well. There is also an assortment of pastries and coffees/teas. One of the best things about this Panera bread is the service. The staff there is very cordial, and the food is ready in a timely fashion, even when the place is very busy. And that brings me to the part that I don't like. This location is extremely busy during lunch time, making it difficult to find a place to park, or a place to sit once you're in. One other thing that I love about this location is the availability of wireless internet. It's a pretty good connection, but there is a block list, so you may have trouble getting to some sites, even though they're not "bad" sites. If you know anything about proxies, you'll know what to do about that. Overall, a great dining experience, and an awesome place to hang out with your friends. read more

I keep giving this place chances, and I keep ending up disappointed. It's always overcrowded, and the poor layout of the restaurant makes it difficult to walk through the place without getting run into. The sandwiches are generally weak: the meat is standard processed deli meat. The toppings also fail to make the sandwich worth eating. The salads are generally better, but I find the greens are often flavorless and old feeling. The last bowl of soup I had here was cold. Hopefully I never have to come back. read more

The new soups ("broth") are outstanding! I am thrilled to find them. Really enjoyed lentil & quinoa this evening. It was stuffed (if a soup can be stuffed) with very fresh kale, as well as the quinoa and lentils. Super-flavorful broth. Along with a veggie sandwich it was a very satisfying dinner. Not only do I pay $10 for frozen soup shipped there from corporate and a panini sandwich pre made in the morning, this is the only Panera ever that denied me a piece of bread! They charge extra for such things I was informed, yet every other Panera I've been to has never said such things for bread requests!! I have had constant problems with only this Panera! Maybe it's a TN Thing which in that case their district manager needs to come by and re evaluate its branch here! I now have sworn not to come back here on principle!
