Bistro French Onion Soup Bread Bowl~ Hubby loved late lunch!
    Rachelle P.

Hubby and I had been running errands and looking for a great late lunch option to take our baby and goldendoodle. We happen to see this location nearby and decided to stop in for outdoor dining! Stopping in I noticed all the ordering was on a touchscreen, which I hadn't seen before. I would definitely recommend this nice Folsom location! We ordered the Bistro French Onion and Creamy Tomato Soup Bread Bowls. My husband, our baby and I loved our late lunch! Great service! We're looking forward to returning soon to try more of their varied menu! SYOY! :-) *Song Credit: Came Like Thunder by Rob Fevas ⁣⁣⁣

I've been to this location about six or seven times in the past decade, most recently October 1, 2023. Overall, my experiences have been good. There is a free parking garage for the Palladio (plaza) right next to the Panera, and I have always been able to find parking close by. The Panera has been clean, never too busy, and comes with a ton of outdoor seating, as many restaurants feature in this tony plaza. There are also four self-service ordering machines at the entrance. The fresh-baked bread and pastries have always been well stocked, even later in the day. The Wi-Fi has also been reliable and fast with plenty of tables with electric receptacles in case you need to charge a phone or plug in your laptop. When I was taking pictures of the large menu placed on the wall behind the registers, an employee even came from the kitchen, ready to assist me. I usually order self-service, but I have noticed the line has never been too busy and employees are quick to take your order. My one complaint is because of a clueless employee, I would call her. I ordered a pastry on October 1 for dine in. She placed it in a paper pouch and handed it to me. I said to her I ordered it for dine in. She it was ready for dine in. Now normally, at other Panera Breads, for pastries for dine in, they serve them to you on a plate with utensils. She asked me what I needed, and I said a fork and knife. I just assumed she would hand me a plate too, because you don't normally eat with utensils on a bare table or napkin. But she didn't hand me one. I didn't feel like giving her more instructions, so I just took the utensils. It was not a huge deal, but I left underwhelmed. She was young, so I'll give her a pass, but that's why I took off one star. Panera Breads have been pretty much the same everyway I have been to. This one was no different. I would go here again.

I order rapid pick-up there frequently. Great service. On the occasion that they make an error on my order it's always fixed.

Ordered 2 ramens and a beer, but the beer was never brought out; notified the waiter/manager about it and he took it off the check which was great. He also offered us and other tables a small sampler plate of the chicken katsu which was delicious. The thing that ticked me was when our ramens came out, we tried the broth and it was nice, but my bf shortly noticed we didn't have any eggs. Took quite a while for staff to notice us for us to call them over. Once we told the waiter (not the guy that brought tables the katsus) he asked us which ramens we ordered to see if they come with eggs, *All of them come with eggs except for kids ramen* and then he asked if we were sure it wasn't there and if it wasn't just buried under our ramen. We were looking at him with our ramen bowls still full to the top shuffling around our noodles to prove to him there's no eggs. Like i get mistakes happen, I wasn't upset about the beer, the no water refills, or the egg missing; it was just the way that waiter questioned us about it that made the meal sour. The food was good, but that interaction with that staff made us realize we could just go to one of the other fukumi restaurants bc the only difference to us was the service. *I even took a photo of the ramen before we realized the eggs were missing

I don't know if it's the same cook or if the food was different but I can say the food was delicious. We had the grilled pork and it was very very tasty. We came in after the lunch rush, so it was a very quiet dining experience for us. The wait staff was super attendant, and the cook came out and asked us if we were enjoying our lunch, which we very much were. Service was ok. Remodeled to a modern ambience which I thought was simple and nice compared to other pho establishments. We started with Goi Nem Nuong (grilled pork spring rolls) - this was actually really good and served warm. We also grabbed the salt and pepper calamari. Batter was crispy, calamari was chewy but was a tad oily. Flavor was there. Pho N Roll noodles came up short. We order (2) special Pho (Dac Biet) and BBH in large size. Ordered a small Pho Tai Gan for our little one. While there was ample noodles and broth in portions, the flavor was lacking. Pho and BBH were both on the bland side. BBH was not spicy or savory. Most noodle options have 4 sizes (XS, S, L and XL) however the specials only have 3 leaving out XS which makes sense. Conveniently located with ample parking as it shares a center with ranch 99, Starbucks, etc. They have a really large menu! While we may not have loved the pho, there are so many other rice dishes to try! Until next time.

"Sounds good," I heard so across the parking lot was WCSD. In we go. Ordered two 6" BLT, no chips, cookies, or drinks, had water. Over $25.00. After waiting a fair amount of time, the order was ready (there was nobody in the place except three employees.) I brought the pie tins that they serve on to our table. They looked a little flat....odd. After I was seated, I lifted the top off of the sandwich, and where is the tomato? The sandwich was cut in half, so I looked at the other side, it looked the same. Upon further inspection there was ONE 2" diameter slice of tomato on each half of sandwich, approximately 1/8" thick. No kidding. The bacon was some very flat pre made stuff that was resembling aluminum foil in thickness. The lettuce was shreadded into long stripe and was wilty. I went back into the empty store and showed the sandwich maker my open sandwich and asked where the tomato was. She graciously stuck her lingers and thumb into my open sandwich, lifted the bacon and lettuce and proudly said "There it is!" (She did have gloves on. God only knows what she had handled with them on) A supervisor came up and asked what the problem was. I explained that there were no tomatoes on my sandwich. He explained that was how they make them. He offered additional tomato slices, I did not take them. The point is-That was the standard that they serve. It was just ridiculous. Not coming back.

It was one of those dishes where you can tell they don't hold back on ingredients or portion size. They also had a BOGO deal on their fried mandoo, and those dumplings ended up being such a good surprise. Crispy on the outside, tender inside, and the dipping sauce really pulled everything together. The total came out to around $79 with tax for all three items, which is a little on the pricier side, but honestly felt worth it considering the quality and portions. Overall, I'd definitely recommend giving this place a try!
