This review is about the food. First, I have to say the service from the cashier at the front counter was excellent. She was kind, patience and help me with my order. Secondly, the young lady who served my chili at the Rapid Pickup window was super friendly and warm and wish me a good day. The inside was nice and clean and smell great. Now the food. I had a cup of the fire side chili and it was nice and hot on a chilly day. Unfortunately the chili was not original. In all honesty, it taste like Homell chili out of a can. To no fault of the employees, the chili wasn't good and certainly not worth $6 and some change. If you want canned chili taste than go to the market. Do Not get Panera Bread chili. I recommend you get something else. I suggest the old standby broccoli cheddar. I wish I had gotten that instead. Oh, the baguette was fresh at this location too. This location is horrible at customer service and I hope this actually helps them realize how horrible they are. I had ordered some food and towards the end of eating our sandwiches there was hair found in our food between the lettuce, long story short, I spoke to the manager, there was no accountability nor any sort of apology from what had happened. The manager decided to give us a "voucher" as if that will ever want to make me come back. I am actually upset at the way this was handled. I even asked if they wear hair nets or anything to help prevent hair falling onto the food and the manager said yes but every single worker had their hair out and about. read more

Panera Bread that is located in the okolona community of the city of louisville just off outer loop road next to the busy Jefferson mall intersection. Panera bread is a chain that I'm hit and miss on. I do enjoy there breakfast menu the most. However they have some solid lunch items such as flat bread pizzas and a few sandwiches I enjoy. My wife and oldest daughter move the broccoli cheddar bowls as well. This location is usually pretty clean and well upkept on the inside and despite long lines on the inside and drive thru they process them quickly. Even though on bardstown road there is a Panera location probably a mile or two closer to my house I still frequent this one more as they have better customer service and are more accurate with orders. Overall Panera is a solid franchise. I do enjoy the pre order option on the app where I can come in and grab my food to go. That's a nice option they have added in the last few years. read more

This place has the slowest service and can be dirty at times. The atmosphere is darker than most stores. I have experienced even rude workers but this is not always the case. 10:30 is too early for me to stop breakfast items. I've looked through the reviews and saw that many of them are from 2+ years ago. I haven't had the problems that others have had and that remained the case today on my lunch visit. No issues with my order at all and I got it pretty fast in the drive thru. I got a Pick 2 with the Strawberry Poppyseed salad and the Broccoli Mac n Cheese. Everything tasted great and was the appropriate temperature. The only thing I will say is that they don't really ask what side you want. They just give me the baguette consistently. Other than that I haven't had some of the really bad experiences that some of these folks have had so maybe it's time to revisit for some of them? I don't know...I'll continue to come to this one because I have several schools in the area, so I'm always around. Thanks Panera! read more

I don't often frequent Panera but when I do, it's usually this location. Almost every time, there is an issue. After running errands last night, I figured I'd use my gift card to grab a bite before heading home. I had checked the balance and knew there was more than enough money on the card. Apparently, they've been having issues with gift cards lately and their machine wouldn't take a corporate gift card (good for other restaurants as well). If I would have known this upfront, I would have chosen to go elsewhere as the only reason I went to Panera was because I had a gift card. Food was ok. I've been a few times in the past month and it's always a mediocre experience. I order a tuna sandwich every time which is always so messy and impossible to pick up to eat. The greens always taste of chemicals. The tomatoes always have the cores and are unpleasant to eat so I'm left with no choice but to take them off my sandwich. The saddest part of my experiences are the ONIONS. The employee who is cutting the onions clearly does not eat onions themselves. They are sliced so thinly that they have no onion taste and they always put a pile of them together and are impossible to separate. I have ordered again and again, hoping my next experience will be better. I'm also confused about their baked goods. They are always so hard, even coming earlier in a day. You would think for how expensive this place is, they would be handing out better quality foods. They tell you to complain if something isn't right, but I'm not about to complain about the entire order and make it seem as though I am the problem. read more

I ended up making a pb and j and a bag of chips. I would have liked getting apples instead of baguettes as well. This is a great option for remote working peeps! Especially if you visit in the early am. Very few people sit in store. Many pick up orders and drive they but lots of seating and quiet in the am. Of course they have free wifi, who doesn't these days? I do like they have order kiosks at the front to allow you on early mornings to not have to communicate with a human before your coffee! I love their power sandwiches, healthy fats, and protein! Great for us ladies or guys watching their food intake. They have a coffee station with glass coffee mugs and paper ones for one the go! I love the feel of a coffee mug, so I opt for that, and when I need a refill, I load it into a paper one for on the go! They have lots of options to add to your coffee, half and half, and skim milk! They also have cinnamon and nutmeg! Cinnamon is my new favorite! Love that you can customize your coffee or drink and there is no extra fee for the special stuff! This is my first time at this location. I called in my order and was told it would be ready by 4. I arrived after 4 and still had to wait. I ordered 3 bowls of soup with baguettes. When I reached home, I realized I only received 1 baguette and 3 bowls of soup. To make matters worse, the baguette I received was stale!!! I didn't even bother to take it back. So I pulled up to the drive thru and ordered the frontego chicken panini. I asked if I could substitute the side of chips for something else. My options were apples or a baguette. Being allergic to apples, I chose the baguette and ordered a separate side of Mac-n-cheese. She gave me my total, and I pulled up the window. No big deal. Once the person in front of me left and it was my turn. I gave the cashier the money, she gave me my food, and I left. The end. But it wasn't the end. When I pulled out and started heading home, I decided to start eating the baguette. I open the bag and peer inside. First of all, it wasn't wrapped in anything. They just threw this half loaf of bread in there like a piece of trash. Second of all, speaking of trash, the bread was stale--I mean hard as a rock and layered in that white crusty stuff that shows where the mold will eventually grow. I put the bread away, disappointed the entire ride home but holding out hope that everything else would be good. When I finally got home, my mouth was watering. The sandwich smelled SO GOOD. I took the box out of the bag, and it-- Was empty. I looked inside, and there was my sandwich, with the bread flipped upside down and the pieces of its remains scattered at the bottom of the bag. I put the sandwich back together sadly and ate it with disdain. It could have been better. It definitely couldn't have been worse. If I'd known I'd have to make my own sandwich, I would have eaten at home and saved myself $15. The only thing that made this trip okay was the Mac-n-cheese. When I finished, I definitely wanted more! I ordered my food different ways each visit. The first visit to this particular store, I went to the cashier. She was very friendly and pretty knowledgeable about the menu. The service was fast and accurate. This visit, I ordered via the kiosk. The order was fast and accurate again. However, ordering via the kiosk, prompted me to join MyPanera. As I mentioned before, I had been a few times, but never joined their member rewards account. Decided to finally give Panera a try. I've heard that they have an excellent chicken salad. I went to the Middletown location in the drive thru and ordered the sandwich. What I ultimately received was a tomato lettuce sandwich. I couldn't hardly taste anything but the bread and tomatoes. After much disappointment, I settled for the mac and cheese that I had additionally ordered, which was pretty good. Food was good and A for effort on the part of the staff, but being short staffed caused some issues. The kiosks to self order was broken and only the manager was at a cash register taking orders. So a bit of a wait to olacevoutmr order of grilled cheese with chips and a pick two of the summer strawberry salad and a half turkey, bacon, avocado sandwich. The grilled cheese was great, turkey was so cold on my sandwich it could have been frozen shortly before it was placed on my sandwich. Since discovering their Cinnamon Crunch bagel and falling in love with their iced coffee, that has become my "treat" meal on the mornings I have time to stop. This morning in particular I wanted my coffee a little different, and when asked about the type of cream cheese for my bagel, I informed the lady working drive-thru of my nut allergy. She paused production, washed her hands and the staff took extra precaution when handling my food and drink. She informed me of the possibility of cross-contamination and was so polite throughout the entire process. I am so very thankful for the service I get each and every time I visit this location! The employees truly care about their patrons and go above and beyond, consistently. I wish every place had service like this particular Panera location! I recommend them every chance I get. Service is always quick. Good to me, always tastes Fred's. Hot is hot and cold is cold! Service is good, quick. I have a love/hate relationship with how the change the menu season by season. I'm loving the new chicken Cobb salad. Just the right amount of green goddess and avocado. The bacon is crispy and even though it's out an f season, the tomatoes didn't seem mushy. It's very good. I always get my staple creamy tomato soup. Delish! The reason I frequent this spot is to work away from my office. I wish they had more outlets. I love the soups at Panera Bread so if I the chance, I come here. Luckily there isn't one near me that I can go to often or I'd be as wide as I am tall. The food came as ordered, albeit a little slower than other Panera Bread locations, and I cannot fault the cleanliness or efficiency of the store or staff. This Panera Bread was very loud because you could hear the manager and staff shouting to each other - in the normal way a working kitchen does - in the area where you're eating. I do a lot of freelance writing and letter writing so I usually enjoy a Panera Bread for it being consistent and usually quiet. This was not, it was loud enough just from the people working to be stressful for me so I left when i was finished with my food. I would come back with friends if we were getting together for a chatty lunch but not if I wanted to get some basic writing work done. read more
