I just wanted a toasted bagel with cream cheese to eat on the way to my appointment. Sounds simple right? I did get my bagel toasted but I could not get the cream cheese on the bagel. Something about being prohibited from doing that for some reason. So I agreed to that but they gave me no knife and no napkin. Bag with a toasted bagel and a container of cream cheese. All in all not a huge deal but it made it impossible to drive and have a snack at the same time. it would've been easier if I had some cream cheese on my bagel so I could drive and eat. My tomato mozzarella sandwich, they sub ciabatta bread, only put on 2 thin slices tomato and barely warmed bread so cheese did not melt. My greek salad with quinoa had only few grains quinoa. What!!! ......we paid $10 for these half portions!!! And as a free side, they can't sub bagel for the hard as a brick baguette?!?!? I am starting to think that it is a Louisville thing for poor customer service and just lack of common sense. The employees at this Panera have personalities of a refrigerator. They walk around like zombies not talking and just throwing food up on counter expecting the customer to telepathically know when their order is up in a restaurant full of people. They use a pager system and there 5 pagers going off with food up on the counter. Most Paneras I've been too brought the food to your table when your assigned number was ready.Try your luck at another restaurant like schlotzky deli two exits north. read more

It also has amazing smoothies and the food is great! The chicken tortellini is kind of weird though, because they just put shredded chicken on top. I hate to attack a Panera, because I worked at Rudy ln for years. But Middletown Panera is disgusting. All the silverware and plates I was given with my food was covered in food from not being washed properly. My Thai salad was awful, it just all around didn't taste good, and I've been getting that salad for years. The meat on my Cuban sandwich was green. No it was not from the mustard or pickles that was on it. And my soup was like warm. The manager is who took my order, I could tell that was the last place she wanted to be. Did not ask what side I wanted. Did not ask if I wanted a drink. Did not upgrade the 99¢ pastry. Was not polite. And like dude you're the manager? I went through the "drive thru" around noon, so I expected to have to wait a little bit on the food. A long line was ahead of me. To my surprise though, they moved the line VERY quickly and I was able to get my food within about 3 minutes. I had asked to change up a sandwich and they made sure it was made correctly. They even made sure to include a spoon for my soup that I ordered! 10/10 would recommend this location to anyone! They did a great job of making sure everything was perfect! read more

My daughter and I went to have lunch on a Saturday. As we stood near the bakery items we noticed gnats on some of the items. I let them know, to which the cashier simply asked do you want anything. I then told the manager who said he would throw them out. After we ate our lunch we went back and the gnats still crawled all over. I recommend they do some cleaning and big extermination. read more

Great food! I usually do a to-go order at this location (it's very close to my house). Their soups and salads are terrific, especially on a cold day. I love the casual / trust-based way they do take out - your food is ready to go, sitting on a shelf near the door. Being that you can pay online, this can make for a very fast in-and-out pick up experience - no waiting in line to tell the cashier your name then waiting while he goes in the back to search for your food. Food was ok I have been here before not as impressed with this location as all the others I have been to. Came in at 530p only 4 people in lobby eating not busy. We ordered food we paid $22 for 2 meals no desserts. I asked for water and they only give out cups for water that look like about 3 oz's oh well. But the lobby/ seating area was a mess every table was dirty except about 2. The floor had crumbs and food all over it. Looked filthy I am afraid of what it looks like behind the counter. An employee looked like a manager walked thru lobby twice looked around & never came back out to clean it while we were there. I went to Panera to use the $2 coupon for pick 2. Found they do not have gluten free bread so ordered 2 salads. Was shocked to learn Pick 2 is about $2.50 more than a regular entree & you get what appears to be 2/3's the amt of food. By calories, it's 75% of the full amt. With my coupon, I got less food for more money, What a rip-off. I'll never get Pick 2 again & they should offer gluten free bread. There was a lettuce core & some brown lettuce in my salad. Tried to let them know on their web site but it won't allow you to hit the submit button. Panera's food is OK but really expensive & lots of plastic that must be recycled. First Watch uses boxes & is much cheaper. Their Pick 2 is $8.26 inc tax & much more food. Go there instead for better food & a better value. read more

This locations is always out of something. They substitute poorly making off menu mistakes no one should pay for! This weekend I received and off menu substitution for a panini it was slime in a box, well the top half, the bottom of the bread and cheese became glued to the box. I live close to the store. Love this spot. They have great food a great spot and fabulous employees. They are always smiling. I LOVVEEEEE that their employees wear gloves. With so many "thing" spreading in this world it makes me feel safe to know they are clean and i dont have to worry about germs from hands. Went through the drive thru to grab a sandwich, a couple teas, and a cookie. There was one car behind us and it was not busy at all. They repeated the order three times and we made sure it sounded correct because we had asked for a couple specifications with our order. When we got to the window the cashier grabbed the card, quickly swiped it, didn't give a receipt and practically threw the bag at us before we could even set our drinks in the cup holder. We tried to be patient and said thank you. When we pulled up and checked the order we didn't receive the cookie, our drinks and box were covered in dried up icing from something we didn't order, and the specifications we had asked for were not correct. When we went back through to ask for the cookie there was no apology and the cashier just stuck her hand out the window with the cookie in a crumbled bag. This Panera location has the worst customer service of all locations I have visited. I was there this morning at 8:10 AM. The lady that took my order in the drive-thru was extremely rude. I asked if they could make a kid's hot chocolate and she said "not really, I mean, I can try but I can't guarantee it. I don't want to take that responsibility." It was the tone of her voice that made it worse. I am not stupid, I always check the temperature of the milk before I hand it to my child, but it was her mannerism when she said it that was so rude. She had long blonde hair in a ponytail, and was wearing a red shirt. There is another thin blonde haired girl that works the drive-through who is also rude in the morning. The only one in there that is kind, is a slender brunette, who I could see was working this morning, but she was not working the drive-thru. Also, they are always forgetting napkins and silverware in the drive through. It's kind of hard to eat when you don't have anything to eat with. If there is one specific attribute I can consistently rely on with my Panera Bread, actually any Panera Bread restaurant, is their FRESHNESS & quality of their products. In todays ultra competitive, fast paced world where good customer service is virtually non-existent & where consumers have high expectations for quality, & a low tolerance for long lines, Panera consistently exceeds normal expectations for product quality, & service at fair prices. I'd say they hit that sweet spot of the restaurant category...not high fat fast food, & not white table cloth fine dining, just good healthy alternatives at a reasonable price with no long lines to wait in. If they for some odd reason screw up an order, they jump at the chance to fix it. It's one of those places I will keep coming back to. I've visited this Panera several times since its opening. I've always received excellent, friendly service. The food has always been outstanding. I love the Sausage, Cheese and Egg on Ciabatta Bread for breakfast. I love the Sierra Turkey Asiago Cheese Focaccia at other times. The parking lot is huge, and should never be a problem getting in. However, the dining area design just seems cramped to me. The layout of the tables and booths are so close, you can bump heads with your neighbor if you both get up at the same time. The last two times I've been there, I've sat in two different booths, and the cushions in both booths were not attached. So every time I sat down or got up or scooted, the whole cushion came with me. Annoying. I kept having to push it back in. Also, my table today was wobbly, due to a piece missing on the bottom of the leg. The table seemed to be cheaply made, and every time we moved, the whole table moved, thus spilling my sons tea. (he favors drinking without a lid). I had to end up and put a wad of paper towels under the leg to help it some. I would expect this from some of our older establishments in Louisville. But not from a new restaurant that has just been open a few months. Also, the counter for preparing your coffee is way too small. I poured my coffee, but when I wanted to add my "extra's", I had to wait almost 10 minutes! A man who was preparing his coffee with numerous specialties, was also chatting with a friend who had arrived. He took extra care in adding honey, cream, sugar, cinnamon, etc. and there was no room for me to join in and prepare my coffee. He was in no hurry, even while I stood right beside him making it obvious he was hogging the small area. Panera can't control the length of time it takes people to prepare, but an area to allow room for more than one person would be helpful. In conclusion, Panera has quality food and service, as always. But I wish they had taken a little more care in designing the aesthetics of their dining and serving area. read more

I rarely write reviews, but this Panera needs to get their act together. I ordered a dozen bagels Monday night for pick up on Tuesday. The girl taking my order asks when I'll be picking them up; I say late afternoon, early evening. She insisted on a specific time "so they'd be ready for me when I picked them up". So I tell her 5:00; I get there around 6:00, and they're nowhere to be found! While several of them are trying to figure out what happened, another customer is waiting behind me. I had to ask if someone could wait on her while they're trying to find my bagels. As someone who is possibly a manager is telling me she'll have them ready the following morning, one of the employees sees the very large bag sitting on the rapid pick up shelf! No offer to comp anything for all the confusion, and to add insult to injury, I notice on my recept after I get home that they charged me for my "free" bagel promo going on in April. Also notice on recept they are "supposed" to give you a free treat if there is a problem with your order! read more
