Panera Bread is always one of my favorite places when I want something quick that still feels fresh and healthy. The Mexican Corn Chowder has always been my go-to, and it never disappoints. I am gonna try not to be a jerk..... I am so tired of going to this location waiting in the drive thru line, getting our food and items be missing. I guess I'm gonna have to stop and open the bag and go through it all every time because when I say the last three times we've been there there is ALWAYS something missing. How can you miss an entire sandwich????? In my mind I'm thinking "ok it's taking forever because they're getting our order just right." Nope. It's annoying as heck and if you know Shelbyville Road it's a pain in the booty to turn around and get back to where you were. It's like I lost 20 minutes of my life I'll never get back just to get what I should've got in the first place. Anyhoo, rant over. Panera is not what it once was, however, if I don't make that comparison it fairs much better. The food is still tasty. I had a soup and sandwich that were very good. The value is not good, but also not terrible. I feel like I get at least as good a value as I would at fast food, but with better quality. The service is average and the stores are usually clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. The food is so good. I got the cheddar and broccoli sourdough bowl and my friend got the broccoli man and cheese. The kids loved the broccoli mac and cheese. My bowl was almost gone, it is so filling. My daughter loved her cookie that was in the shape of a mitten with icing on it. We took our family of 4 to Panera for lunch of a Sunday afternoon. While they had patio seating the rain had driven everyone inside. We were able to find a table in the back and wipe it down on our own. (In our time there I never spotted anyone coming through to clean tables and seating) Typically I do takeout only because I enjoy the Fuji Apple Chicken Salad. Today I did a pick 2 with the salad and chicken salad sandwich, plus a side of kettle chips. Between my husband and two boys they tried a variety of sandwiches, sides and soup. The cheddar broccoli soup continues to be a fan favorite and my son enjoyed the mac and cheese. The sandwiches though were take it or leave it. We also find it odd that with Panera being known for its bagels that they don't offer bagel sandwiches. Service was a bit off today too. Our sides weren't included on our tray so my husband returned to the pick up counter to request them. The lady at the counter insisted that she gave them to us and rather than helping she started to fill other orders. The manager overheard the exchange, apologized and helped my husband. Overall Panera is okay but it isn't up to par with the prices they charge, not with food, service or atmosphere. We paid almost $70 to eat today! Not a family choice for us in the future. read more

We ordered two "Pick 2 " meals this Friday evening. Honestly, Panera is my go-to spot. Clean, well-made food, and a great atmosphere. I loved the Autumn squash soup and the half Balsamic Greens and Grains salad. My husband had the potato soup, which he thoroughly enjoyed, along with half of a chicken bacon Rancher sandwich. It was a delicious meal for both of us , and I love the people who work there besides. Always gracious and generous with their attention. I love the baja bowl from Panera... however, time and time again, this specific location gives me a pathetically small amount of food. I don't even know where to start: 1. Worker was wearing a "No f*cks given" hat. 2. Little bugs were crawling over the baked goods. A worker swatted them away but admitted that these are sold to customers. 3. NOT a lot of staff at all! A LOT of staff work behind the counters but not a lot working in the front with customers. 4. Mobile order was placed on the GrubHub/Uber shelf and not the Rapid Delivery. I had to approach the counter 2 times to obtain things that my order specified: a. my order, b. lemons, the 3rd time I approached I was telling the worker about the bugs. Waited every time to talk to someone. Ugh... I will go back to Panera but probably only to the Springhurst location. read more

So I'm pretty sure that Panera is almost at Chick Fil A status... It's just great. I tend to come here if I'm needing something quick, or if I didn't bring anything for lunch to work. I could only wish that we can someday have more healthy drive thru joints. My mouth waters over their bacon turkey bravo and caesar salad, and my waistline doesn't hate me afterwords. Sure, not everything they have is healthy and they can sometimes have some huge portion sizes, but it's easy to get things that fit in your diet. I also would rarely do this for fast food, but I have to brag at this Panera's customer service. Every single time I go through the drive thru (which has been a lot) the employees always have big smiles on their faces and seem happy to be there. You go Glen Coco. I also love their new technology inside where you can place your order on a tablet. It completely eliminates you having to wait in line, and you can customize your order as much as you want without sounding like a snob. Panera has and will continue to be one of my top choices for going out to eat. There's just too much to like! read more

7-10+ years ago, Panera Bread was one of my favorite fast food restaurants. However, I feel like the chain as a whole has decreased quality and increased prices in the time since. Fortunately, I've never had an issue with the service--I'd say overall, the staff in Middletown is always friendly and accommodating. This location is very hit or miss when it comes to food quality and accuracy, though. I order pickup often and I'd say about two thirds of the time it's good, and the rest...eh. My most recent visit: the sandwich was burned and the soup was cold. Luckily the order was correct, but sometimes we'll be missing an item or it's not accurately to order (very reminiscent of McDonald's and the like). And of course, none of this justifies the outrageous pricing. Ten bucks for a burnt sandwich and cold soup kinda makes me a little jaded. Other example: why on earth is a soda $2.29? Do they have a magical Coca-Cola fairy who sprinkles gold pixie dust all over the dispensers? If Panera is great at anything, it's identifying the kinds of meals the masses are after--and nickel and diming them in the process. read more

I'm not sure why I've been to so many Paneras in Louisville. I came on a weekday during the summer for lunch with a friend and her kids. It was packed in here! Sooo many people. That entrance door had a good workout. People kept coming in and out. We thankfully found a table. It was around noon. As it got past one, it seemed to die down and bit but it was still noisy and busy. Parking was an absolute nightmare! I was almost certain I wouldn't find a spot, but a car had just pulled out of of it. My friend had to park closer to QDOBA. I still liked how large the Panera was. (Large is subjective.) The setup was great! As soon as you walk in, the counter was just there. It's a nice flow. It also didn't take long to get my food despite how busy they were. I don't hang around this end of town, so I'm not sure when next I'll be at this location. read more

Plant base review - I was visiting home in Louisville for a few days and I'll admit, had a hard time finding options to eat. Where I currently live Vegan options are everywhere but the many restaraunts I visited in Louisville, my options were tough. Even if I removed the meat, there would still be dairy in almost everything being hard to eliminate. The family went to Panera for a quick lunch and I was THRILLED when I saw a vegan menu item. It was the Vegan Lentil Quinoa in a vegetable broth. When I placed my ordered, the sweet cashier suggested adding half the Mediterranean veggie sandwich (minus the cheese) and it was so good. The broth bowl and sandwhich was so delicious. It was one of my top meals while visiting as it allowed me an option besides a salad. I was at the counter ordering my food, my bill for a sandwich and a bowl of soup was $20. What? I asked how it got so high the cashier explained the sandwich was 995 and the bowl of soup was... and I said wait a minute, it says right there on the menu that the sandwich is $7.15 and she said oh I never look at that. And I said well the price is wrong, and she said we had a price increase, would you like me to get a manager. I said yes the manager came out and said we had a price increase. I said you should at least have a sign or some thing that says new prices or update your signage or give it to me at the price on the menu. She offered no solution. So I deleted the soup off my order. My food was delivered quickly and my sandwich was delicious as I expected. But the prices should be what are advertised on the menu. read more

We were in the area at lunchtime and decided that everyone wanted soup so we chose to eat here. I could not believe how busy they were in the middle of the week. We all ordered the soup in a bread bowl. It was fresh, hot and delicious. We got our meals really quick and enjoyed the endless drink bar. For an extra $.99 they let you add a desert, Good location, good variety of choices and good food. Plus they accept Apple Pay. We will return here for sure. read more

So I have been coming to this location for the past six weeks... And I began seeing a pattern of horrible service here, and not only me but other people who are regulars here that I've met in the morning just to have coffee... So in the past few weeks when I've come here I've paid for my coffee walked over to the coffee to pour it, and the coffee is empty... This happens at least once to twice out of the two or three times a week that I've visited here... And prior to that just trying to get someone at the front cash register Is a near impossibility... The line builds and the employees back by the serving areas just stare at you! No one here seems to want to mind the store let alone check to see if there's any coffee left in any of the coffee thermoses that are put out for the people to self serve themselves... Yesterday I came in here paid for my coffee I want to find out the coffee was empty... Again several other people that were with me or waiting an excessive amount of time for someone to step up and go on the back and get another coffee thermos out replace it with... This happened again this morning and the cashier looked at us and said well I'm sorry I have to check these people in before I can get the coffee put out... No other employees were willing to step up and help out... Meaning that the several of us and I mean six or seven of us this morning that were waiting for coffee were inconvenienced for about 20 minutes as if we had nothing better to do with our day but wait on them at their convenience to fix the problem... Their problem!!! eight morning when I come in here and go to the cash register if there is anyone there to help you when they come out they look and act as if you're inconveniencing them... Not the employees here look even motivated at all to provide good service to the customer to expect it when they walk through the doors... You pay for your coffee first if you can get a cashier, then they ask you for a tip right there... And then you find out there's no coffee! What a morning smack in the face that is! Not only am I posting this on here but I will tell everyone to avoid this particular store in Middletown like the plague! I used to come here a few years back when it first opened in the service was amazing... What she would expect from a Panera bread... But apparently this chain has gone down badly and is not checking on the quality levels they are providing for their customers! Something as simple as checking your coffee thermoses which are right next to the cash register practically to make sure that they are full in the mornings when customers come in wanting coffee... This happening as frequently as it has happened which is three times in the past week and a half that I have visited here out of the five times I've come here in the past week and a half basically shows a mindset of poor service and a lack of caring completely about the customers at the store... I would tell you if you read this find another Panera bread, apparently the owners and managers of the store are out to lunch somewhere else and could care less about maintaining a discipline of good service toward their customers at this location... It would not let me rank this at half of one star so I had to give it one star at the very least... But if I could rank it less I would! And today when they were out of coffee the girl at the cash register told us we would simply have to wait because she wanted to check everyone in first before she took care of the customers who are currently being inconvenienced... We got no apologies we got nothing except sneered looks from the cashier and one other person who was there who refused to step up and go on the back and get coffee thermoses with full coffee to put out for all of us or waiting in the foyer area that were inconvenienced for a lengthy time... This is completely in your face unacceptable... I will not be returning why do I want to consistently expose myself to consistently bad service at this location... They've proven to me that's what I get here each time I show up... No more... Maybe if some of the managers or owners See this honest review they might feel motivated and compelled to do something about it...but in today's world I just don't see it happening.... But I can tell you what several people who are inconvenienced here today left with a very bad taste in their mouth for this particular Panera bread and they openly told the people here they would not be coming back I will also be one of those people who will not be coming back... This team is the definition of above and beyond customer service! I had a giftcard and wanted to get bagels for my coworkers. I ordered a bunch of cinnamon crunch and figured that late in the day they'd be out. They called to let me know they were out of the cinnamon crunch and I told them no worries they can refund the bagels and Id try again earlier another day and they said no problem. I would consider this place 3.5/5 stars. The reason I am rounding down is because it is not exactly cheap, so they are being held to a higher standard of expectation. They get points for being walking distance from my home. Also, one of the staff there always greets me by name when I walk in even though she only sees me once every few weeks. They have never given me a wrong order, then again, mine are usually small anyway. I get a bit perturbed when my pastry does not get picked up and placed in the brown bag with a sheet of deli paper. That's standard even at places considered "lower-end", because then I have to walk around with the butter stains from the pastry on my bag seeping through... Their mac n cheese is delicious (and overpriced..) but hard pass on their salads though. Consistently serving brown lettuce is not appetizing! In addition, the noodle soups are nothing memorable. They taste very "out of the can". The restrooms are generally clean as are the tables, so there's that at least. read more

Updating my review to this Panera! I was happy to arrive around 10:30 this am and was able to order lunch! Score! Wasn't sure I would have time for lunch, so super excited. There was a limited menu but I was ok with it. This location is super busy during lunch time. Not a great place to bring a large group. They also do not have the order kiosks which would help with the wait. Before lunch you can get in and out in 30 mins. I used to have okay experiences at this Panera as I used to go there all the time before work. But the past couple of weeks I have ordered the same thing and gotten completely different menu items. Today my order was messed up again and while I usually wouldn't fuss I just wanted to see if they might remake it. The manager ended up coming out and immediately began snapping at me and saying "Well I'm the manager so." as an explanation to why she was right and I was wrong. I ended up just being like "Okay, I'm sorry for the inconvenience." and left. Very poor customer service. I honestly won't be returning to this location in the future after that :/. read more

Panera Bread is sooooo addicting!! I have scouted out 4 stores near my place of employment. So which ever way I travel, bam, there's one there lol. My norm is breakfast. There is a good variety to select. I enjoy the spinach soufflés, but also now like the sausage/egg/cheese on ciabatta. There is a wide array of pastries to choose from also. My fav's are the pecan braid, cinnamon roll and bear claw. And to wash it all down is hazelnut coffee. So far the staff at each location I have been to are extremely friendly. The atmosphere is pleasant and the volume is fairly low. I have not had any issues, knock on , but you may want to arrive early during the work week for they get pretty busy with peoples heading to work. I have been going to Panera Bread for over 20 yrs and the Panera at the Middletown location is the worst one I have ever gone to. The place has all the signs of absentee management. I have been there for over an hour on numerous occasions and have not seen the tables being wiped down ... not even during the peak of the Covid restrictions. There have been times when the rug in the entrance has posed a trip hazard due to it not being unrolled completely. Last winter the entrance also had a large ice build up that stayed there until the weather warmed up enough to melt it away. And for a coffee and breakfast place the coffee urns frequently sit empty and the coffee is regularly not cool, but cold. I don't blame the employees, because it is the managers responsibility to provide the leadership and instructions in order to make sure these things are done properly and regularly and it is obvious that the manager is not doing their job. read more

I am a salesperson who orders lunches frequently for my clients in their offices. On some occasions, my clients ask for Panera. I HATE Panera. The catering department makes it nearly impossible to place a call in order. The website will not allow a guest to go directly to the menu without logging in to location, pickup, etc. I have finally had enough. I will never use Panera again. I will go to McAllisters where a person joyfully answers the phone on each call and will work with me and be helpful on larger orders. Take that Panera.
