The turkey chili was pretty good! It was flavorful, hearty, and satisfying. The Greek salad is also very good - they put just the right amount of feta cheese on it. I also recommend the tuna salad sandwich. Panera Bread is always a great place to go to for the casual lunch or dinner. They have a variety of salads, soups, and sandwiches to choose from that will satisfy nearly anyone. If you want the best of both worlds you can choose the "U pick 2" deal. Well I tried to give this place a chance, but I think this is the last time I will ever go to Panera anywhere. Sad to say since I used to be a regular when I lived elsewhere. With the new upper- stratospheric pricing, I just cannot rationalize exchanging so much hard earned money for so little value. Summary: Small portions of mediocre food at truly outrageous prices. I just plunked down more than 12 dollars for a "large" Mac and cheese and a regular soda which I have to say, without a doubt, is the most egregious fast food ripoff I've ever experienced in my 35 year existence. Full stop. There's a reason they only show photos of the top of the bowls since in profile you might see just how meager they really are for the super-grade plutonium-239 level price they ask. My large mac and cheese came in a paper cup/bowl nearly the same size as a small chili at Wendy's and contained by my estimate about 12 oz of product. The food itself was perfectly adequate taste-wise, but considering the portion, I was charged almost double what any rational person who lacks multiple Swiss bank accounts full of embezzled funds of a sovereign oil producing nation, Netjets shares, and/or one or more 10 story diveable vault of gold coins and precious stones would think reasonable. I could have fed one of Sally Struthers imaciated children for 24 whole days for the price of enough food to feed them for 3 hours, assuming they also ate the container it came in. That's just outrageous. Well that's about it - sorry to be so negative, but as a homeless person who lives in their car and gets to eat a meal maybe twice a week due to extensive and continually worsening finances, I'm pretty sensitive to dropping an A-Ham and a couple of OGWs on a wee bowl of pasta with cheese sauce. I guess Panera Bread is just not into dealing with anyone who doesn't need to roll a 10 deep dump truck convoy to cash their paycheck. Best of luck, Panera. My friend is highly allergic to onions and informed the cashier - yet received onions in her salad, rather than re-making the salad without the onions the manager (a white male version of a Karen) quote said "onions don't taste like anything" and "a manager should've been present if allergies were involved" as a former Panera Bread employee this is FALSE. The responsibility of a cashier is to 1. go to the back section, state the customer has allergies and 2. Salads can be CUSTOMIZED to your own liking and he tried to tell my friend this salad cannot be made without onions. She had to order a completely different salad, which turned out disgusting. NOW TODAY the same panini was absolutely terrible and disgusting, some genius at Panera Bread decided that replacing the soft flat bread normally used to make panini with a very hard thick powder covered bad tasting bread that cuts up your mouth with very little meat was a good idea ...a very very bad decision. This location is very big and very quick with orders. However, this review is solely on the chicken tortellini pasta. It was sooooo salty! Like really salty... i drank three bottles of water just to eat it all. The chicken slices were very unevenly distributed and seemed all attached to a tendon. Overall I don't think it's worth the dollar. I love Panera but just don't order the tortellini with chicken or just prepare yourself for a lot of sodium intake. I just purchased a chipotle avocado sandwich from panera bread located on 669 hillside avenue, new hyde park, and when i opened the sandwich, There was a huge black chunk of avocado inside the sandwhich staring at me. Very disappointing to know that's how they treat their customers. Be careful when ordering your sandwhich , open it right away and make sure that its not served with a huge chunck of black old looking avocado inside. Decided to give Panera a second chance today but a different location...gee not surprised - the same crappy service. This time I spent $65 and ask to have a few items to go for my family. The cashier screwed up what I wanted to stay and what I wanted to go. The MANAGER comes out with a disgusting attitude and literally picked up the sandwich (WITHOUT GLOVES) and yells "SO YOU WANT THIS SANDWICH TO GO," threw it in a box and then threw it on the counter, in my face. I tried to take the food that I was going to eat there so it would be less confusing and the girl behind the food counter made me so embarrassed by saying "don't touch that -it's not your order," when it clearly was because she literally just said "Nirmala's Order." I always came to Panera thinking they have fresh delicious food and the other locations have been consistent but this location is both disgusting and appalling! I went for lunch this past week and while waiting in line, guess what I saw? Black dots on the bread and pastries. Someone behind the counter was getting bread for a customer and I saw these black dots scatter into the air! Is this sanitary? I don't think I want flies and their babies in my bread and forget about dessert for me here. After this I was called up and I ordered my favorite broccoli cheddar soup and the Mediterranean shrimp couscous salad while seeing these black flies hover over the cashier. While waiting for me food I saw a hole looking into the serving area and was appalled to find soups in plastic baggies! Ew do I really want melted plastic in my soup? Is it BPA free? Then I got my plate and boy the plate was dirty and had smudges. Even the utensils were dirty so I asked for plastic ones instead. When I sat down, the floor was dirty and the tables had crumbs all over. Let's just say I only ate the salad but even the salad was overdressed like someone literally poured dressing into my salad. Panera food is consistent and does not disappoint. However, this is the first time I went to one outside Southern California. Sadly, the service is quite poor. One example is the following. I purchased a croissant forgetting to ask if it could be toasted. I asked a staff member from the kitchen if it could be toasted and he said "yes, just ask the cashier". The cashier said, "no, we can't toast it. We can microwave it". Microwaving croissants is not a good way to heat it. It ruins its texture.
