An alright Panera location - this one is located in a strip mall with an alright amount of parking and a fairly substantial amount of outdoor seating -- though being at the busy Dundee and Rand intersection it may be a bit loud at times to sit outside. Food is served fairly quick and friendly like at any other Panera, with easy ordering at the kiosk. This spot is a bit busier inside than what I've seen at many other local spots -- probably due to its excellent location. The typical Panera, warm and inviting atmosphere, smooth and easy to use app and ordering process, friendly staff, a massive menu catering with insanely unhealthy levels of salt, and in overly optimistic pricing where it's funny an actual restaurant like Chili's and Texas Roadhouse now offers better value. I only drop in for the decent coffee and grabbed my birthday pastry today! The chocolate croissant seems fresh enough but of course hilarious to see a four dollar price tag on a basic dessert. Would be nice to see Panera remove the wild heart risk amounts of sodium at these high prices to give a reason to try their food, but glad there are many other better options especially local places that know quality ingredients. read more

Went here for a quick bite in between volleyball games at the local high school. We wanted to get breakfast sandwiches. The place had a few people eating and we were able to walk up and place our order immediately. The cashier was welcoming and answered a couple questions we had about the menu. I went with a Asiago Bagel Egg and Cheese Sandwich. My wife decided to go with the same but on Croissant. The pick up place was clean and the tables were clean as well. It took about 10 minutes for the the first sandwich to be called, however they let me know that they ran out of the croissant. They asked me if I wanted a replacement and we chose the Asiago Bagel. No up charge. As far as the sandwich, it was a little smaller than expected. It seemed like it is not the same size as the original Asiago Bagel. The eggs were thinner than I expected. It had two different types of cheese. I didn't think it was worth getting as it was still hungry. Bagel is a bigger sandwich and is across the street. when i logged in to my profile on a kiosk to place the order, i saw an offer in my account get 50% off next 3 entrees. I added 2 entrees but it only too 50% off 1 entree. When i asked the cashier, she i should place 2 separate orders. So, how she suggested, i ordered 1 entree and i got 50% off like i was getting initially, but when i was placing my 2nd entree order, my offer was totally gone from my account. When i asked the cashier again, she said i don't know. The i asked her to get the manager. So the Manager, being so lazy, instead of coming and talking to me, sent the cashier back asking what was the name on the 1st order. The patio has flower boxes filled with barely alive flowers desperate for water. I judge a restaurant by how clean the glass entrance doors are, and this place failed miserably. So I went here for agave lemonade & an egg white sandwich. Both items tasted like mop water smells. I went to another panera on my route home just to make sure I wasn't crazy. The new lemonade I received from the other Panera used to replace that one didn't taste like this. I couldn't drink it! I have always enjoyed eating at Panera Bread, until today. I was excited to visit their new location on the corner of Rand & Dundee. It's a very nice looking property and part of a brand new development. I noticed they have a bay or ordering kiosks as you enter, but I decided to walk up to the counter to order instead. An eye-catching photo of a Roasted Turkey & Avocado BLT and a Green Goddess Cobb Salad with Chicken was shown on the boards above the counter. I decided it looked good--because who doesn't love avocados or bacon!?! I began placing my order, and it all went downhill from there. As the lady at the counter keyed in my order, the bill kept growing higher and higher. Now, I expect Panera to not be a cheap fast-food price, but $12.41 without a drink and $15.06 with a regular soda? That's just highway robbery! (To think what it would have been during the soda tax!) Panera is out of their everloving mind if they think $15 is a reasonable price to pay for a quick work lunch with a colleague. Back at the old location, I would get a You-Pick-Two for maybe $9--and I always felt that was right on the borderline of what a lunch should cost. I'd much rather have the old basic location with okay prices than a nicer new location with exorbitant prices. I asked the person taking my order aboutthe price and inquired if it had gone up recently. She kept insisting that You-Pick-Two has always worked that way. Fine, but not any of the choices I've had in the past. Since I was with a co-worker, I didn't walk out like I wanted to, but instead ordered a half Bacon Turkey Bravo and water for $6.65. I thought that was a reasonable price until I saw the portion size. Not only have prices increased, the portions have shrunk dramatically. For that matter, I could get an amazing lunch special from a nice char house for under $15--and it's right across the street from my work! Panera has priced themselves out of my market. It will be a while until I go back for lunch, and when/if I do, I'll use the kiosk. Unfortunately, we found this to be the worst Panera ever! Went in for lunch an ordered two full Fuji apple salads. One with a side apple and one with a side roll. With no more than four other customers in the restaurant one would expect quicker service. Didn't happen. Finally we got what appeared to be half salads, one decent apple, and one day-old roll. I went to return the roll and noticed very few Bakery products on the Shelf. The emplyee went to the back and actually brought a very fresh bun, probably the only one left in the restaurant from the morning. We anticipate that this Panera will be closing down very soon. Although this store is not bad, I can't give them a better rating due to the fact that all they serve is glorified microwave food. Everything on the menu comes out of a microwave except for the panini sandwiches and other bread items. And even the breads and bagels are not made fresh. The food tastes good, and the bagels are very good. I've placed four orders this week, (two at this location) & been disappointed with three, one of the orders from Palatine was a problem. It's great that customer service goes out of their way to make things right, but that shouldn't be necessary. The kitchen is poorly executing orders & it's beyond frustrating. I ordered a chicken noodle soup with the sour bread bowl and an Apple for my side I pull up to the drive-through I pay for it and as I look over there's a lot of people there just goofing around laughing doing nothing it's none of my business I don't care. As I drive around to park and eat my soup there is no spoon. There is no Apple . I can't drive back because that intersection is an absolute cluster phuck. So I called to complain someone who was standing behind the person who picked up the phone was making sex noises And in the background they were laughing. Very unprofessional. 4 times out of the week I have to do business across the street so I usually get a Panera Chai latte which is delicious but the recently built intermedians makes it extremely difficult to get from point A to point B. This is my FAVORITE Panera location!! 10-15 minutes from home, great food, service and ambiance! I usually order well over $50 of food just for myself each time I come here (both their breakfast and lunch menu items are all awesomely delicious, whether you're talking the breakfast soufflés or their flavorful, creative and hearty sandwiches, soups and salads)! Plus I love ordering through their app all the time--so easy to use and so very convenient to have. I love being part of their monthly coffee club ("Unlimited Sip Club")--their coffee tastes so awesomely fresh and that club membership comes in handy when I don't have time to make my coffee at home sometimes!) Plus, I love having my food ready when I arrive, thanks to their app! Last, I love the free WI-FI and the modern-looking, but calming and cozy feel of the dining room! So--don't believe all the bad Yelp reviews: whenever I come here, their lot is often times, annoyingly full AF! Sometimes you need the jaws of life to get a spot!! If this location truly sucked as some of those reviews say, I highly doubt this particular restaurant would've stayed open as long as they have in the competitive and cutthroat Palatine /Deer Park/Arlington Heights area they're in! So we went into Panera Bread, after we have spoke about a previous visit to manager over the phone, and we were told that our next meal was going to be comped. On arrival we found out the lady manager lied to us just to get us off the phone. Fortunately this location has a great manager named "Christopher" and he made the situation right. You know that Thursday morning in April 2013 where there was major flooding, steady downpours and a general clusterf$#& of a day? Yeah, I was one of those idiots who thought she would get to work within some semblance of a normal time. After two hours on the road, trying in vain to go east on Lake Cook road (drive normally takes me about 45 minutes) I uttered a string of profanities and decided I would a) find the nearest Starbucks or Panera b) use the restroom c) eat/drink something and d) use the wifi to check in at work before e) going back the hell home. This Panera was the closest and best option I could find and I was grateful for it. Unfortunately they were cleaning up from some morning flooding themselves, in the front of the store, so it was a bit loud and part of the front was blocked off. But the restrooms were clean and the staff was friendly, and I ordered a flatbread breakfast sandwich and coffee while I parked with my laptop a bit. Panera's food has always been solid and consistent, and while I don't think it's five-star amazing, it's usually warm and comforting. Ok, I'm not typically a grouchy reviewer, but my experience here was terrible. I usually get the chicken chopped salad when I go to Panera (usually the one in Arlington Heights). So that's what I ordered. The knife they gave me was still wet and had some disgusting white slime on it. The salad itself looked skimpy and something about the taste of it was off. AND they forgot to put bacon in it--I LOVE MY BACON! Oh, and their wifi was down. To top it all off, I got food poisoning. My brother, who used to work there, said he would never get food from that location again because he saw how disgusting and dirty it is.
