    slimy starchy soup.
    Lauren W.

I've been to this location 3x, because it's close to my work. The first time was okay, not anything special. But the 2nd and 3rd were so awful. My order was always ready to pick up, but the food quality was horrendous. I don't know what happened to panera over the last few years, but the quality went WAY downhill when the company decided to cut costs. The vegetables in my salad were super watery and tasted like they had been too close to frozen and were old/going bad. Half the toppings were missing. My chicken was not the strips they used to put on salads, it was this mushy crumbled mess with a very off-putting taste. I ended up complaining to corporate because the quality was so bad I couldn't eat the salad. I received a coupon from my previous complaint to try them again, and I figured the soup can't be that bad.. it's soup. I was totally wrong. The quality of ingredients just isn't what it used to be. Barely got any toppings on my soup. The texture was so starchy and slimy. When I went to pick up my hot tea, the hot water was out. The people there seem nice, but I'll keep avoiding the food.. I have serious health risk concerns due to the quality.

Stopped here for breakfast again and unfortunately they seemed to be understaffed. The whole time I was there, there was not one employee who was sitting around doing nothing. Even with this issue I will not stop giving them my business because this is happening everywhere. Sadly my sandwich was not made totally correct and my frozen drink was a little melted. Even with that said, they still tasted good and were prepared in a timely manner. The restaurant was pretty clean with the exception of a couple tables that needed wiped off. All in all, the employees are working hard while being understaffed.

    Half Greek Salad

I've never had a problem reordering here before, but today, I ordered a half greek salad from one of my recent orders, and instead of subbing the romaine lettuce for spring mix like usual they gave me a box with my toppings and dressing... I paid good money for basically an empty box. I didn't notice until I parked at my laundromat. This is the first time I've ever had a problem with my order at this location, and the worst part is that I'm non-confrontational and don't feel comfortable telling them what they did.

You Pick Two with LF Chicken Noodle and a turkey and cheese sandwich
    Katelynn G.

As a previously frequent customer throughout the past 9 years, I am saddened to say that I will no longer be providing Panera Bread with my business. I have had several recent, bad experiences at different locations throughout SW Pennsylvania and a few other locations while traveling. I decided to give Panera one more try before my book club meeting today and was exceedingly disappointed with my experience. I knew I wanted a You-Pick-Two, but I was not sure what type of sandwich I wanted. I asked the cashier if there was a description of the sandwiches, since I'm a pretty picker eater, and she responded, "Umm... I think I have to click on each one on my screen." I ended up asking for just a plain turkey sandwich with lettuce and cheese. I was up-charged $0.50 for a slice of cheese, which is absurd because the sandwiches are supposed to come with cheese on them. I ended up paying almost $10 for small sandwich and a small cup of soup! When I received my lackluster meal, I was immediately disappointed because the soup was 85% broth. There was barely any noodles, carrots, or chicken in my chicken noodle soup! After discovering this I decided to move on to my sandwich. The first thing that was brought to my attention was the stale bread. The bread was stale around all four edges. Other than the bread being stale, the sandwich was completely mediocre. There wasn't much turkey, so I decided to pile it all on one side and make half of a sandwich. I didn't try my baguette because I was very antsy to leave at this point. Panera is not longer a place I plan on grabbing a bite to eat. It's disappointing that a business that once valued their customers has let their morals slide.

Autumn squash soup and Barbecue chicken mac and Cheese
    Funtime P.

Typical Panera Bread although their fireplace was broken and it was FREEZING outside so I got the Autumn Squash Soup and the new Barbecue chicken mac and Cheese which were good. I tried 2 bagels but their cutting machine was broken so the girl hand smashed and cut my bagels.... They need to get their equipment fixed!

Hair in bread, you can see it up top.

I think this has been my worst experiences a Panera. Every table is dirty even the outside tables. My spoon was dirty for my soup I asked for a new one, and the girl never apologized just gave a dirty look. Next my friend ate her bread when she pulled it apart there was a giant hair clump inside. Disgusting!

Downey's House provided the local spot I needed. An ice cold Yuengling on draft went down very well, and while I didn't find pierogis on the menu, I settled for a phenomenal bowl of spaghetti & meatballs. Local marinara & meatballs made with the same recipe of the old Main Hotel that was in Carnegie for nearly 100 years. That bowl of pasta was SCRUMPTIOUS and just what I was after. I even talked my lovely wife into doing up her salad 'Pittsburgh style', which means adorning the salad with fries. And yes, it's as good as it sounds. Thrown in a protein like grilled chicken and that is a banger of a meal. Great dining area with a square-shaped bar and TVs with sight-lines in any direction. The service is friendly and helpful, and prices are probably lower than at some chain-y eatery that just makes your food via assembly line. It's local and sensational!

We ordered 2 sandwiches at 6:10 PM, the wait was a little longer than anticipated and was ready at 7:00 pm. It smelled mildly "fishy" but it is fish after all. First impression, it did not appear as advertised. It was missing the sauce and lettuce pictured on the website. I took three bites and unfortunately, the fish was hard. It seemed over cooked which may have contributed to the time it took to receive it. The grease also tasted old. The Mac on top was again, overcooked. The French fries were cooked well, but they had so much old bay seasoning and salt it was difficult to eat. I wish this were unique to my order, but I was dinning with three others, all ordering the same thing, and we all had the same complaints. I did request to speak with someone in the kitchen but they said they didn't have time as they were quite busy. The brewery was full and outside seating was also starting to fill so that is understandable. The bartender at strange roots had us write our names on a piece of paper and said the kitchen will refund the meals. I contemplated ordering a burger instead but didn't want to wait again so we did leave to dine elsewhere.

Genius! My Hook & Ladder arrived looking like it had been run over by the actual fire truck, soggy bread that dissolved into paste, "smoked" turkey that tasted like wet cardboard marinated in regret, and mayo so thin it was basically flavored air. Portion sizes? Adorable! They must've switched to the "Toddler Menu" when I wasn't looking. And the crew my god, the crew. Every single employee behind the counter was an imported worker, clearly flown in on the "We Refuse to Pay Americans" visa program. Not one local soul in sight! They were polite in that dead-eyed, soul-crushed way you get when your paycheck wouldn't cover a Happy Meal. Orders wrong? Naturally. Enthusiasm? Zero. It's like they hired a call center to assemble subs. Pro tip: if your wages are so insulting that nobody in a 50-mile radius will take the job, maybe, just maybe, pay people enough to live. Nah, too logical. Firehouse Subs: now proudly serving budget bin sadness in a firefighter hat. 10/10 for cost-cutting, 0/10 for literally everything else. Avoid unless you hate flavor and joy.

We arrived around 4:30pm, we had to park on the street, but there were several spots available. The restaurant is small with a casual interior. We were greeted and seated immediately. The food was good with hearty portions, but our waitress rushed us the entire time. We said we needed a few minutes, because this was our first time here, so she stood there and just... waited. She didn't offer to make any suggestions or ask whether we had any questions, she was just standing inches from the table looking at us. Finally I had to say, "oh, you don't have to wait right here, it'll be at least 5 minutes." Then she left. We ordered an appetizer, two entrees, two non-alcoholic drinks, and two desserts. She never asked whether we wanted dessert, and reached to present the bill while asking if we needed any takeout boxes. I had to interject and ask if we could see a menu for dessert options. The check was placed on our table before dessert arrived, which has never happened to us before at any restaurant we've ever been to. Then, when the desserts were brought to the table, she grabbed the bill presenter and said, "are we good?" I replied, "no, I'll pay when we're done eating." It was odd because we went very early and there were only a few other tables occupied so, I had no idea why we were being rushed the entire time. They also brought my daughter's entree with the wrong side, but they fixed it right away with no fuss. I left a generous tip and didn't report our experience. She was never outright rude to us, but rushing guests at every interaction is uncomfortable and made us feel unwelcome. Overall, this place is good, but if I ever go back, I would insist on a different waitress.

The beet salad was SO good I could've easily ordered a second without hesitation. I had a self-proclaimed Reuben connoisseur with me, and he declared it the best Reuben he's ever had (second only to his own, of course ). It's not your typical version either--no standard Thousand Island overload. The corned beef was perfectly peppered and packed with flavor, and even the bread stood out. Fish tacos? Absolutely a yes. Fresh, flavorful, and just done right. We split sides--tater tots for one dish and the homemade chips for the other. Always go for the homemade chips here. WOW! They had this subtle sweetness that made them seriously addictive. Friendly service, great atmosphere, and food that lives up to the hype. Totally worth it!
