I am so sick of the employees at this store. First my boyfriend causally asks them why everything is final sale (he thought they might be closing), the gal checking us out rudely responds "because there's Covid" and looks at him like he's an idiot for asking a simple question. Next time in, I take my mom who is visiting from out of town. I'm buying a belt for her and the gal checking us out says "Aw I had this belt in seventh grade" um okay is that a compliment? Anyways my mom has her phone in her hands and brings it up to her face to look at the screen and then take a selfie with me and the gal looks at her and asks if she's taking a picture of her? Like what? You guys need to learn some good customer service. My mom explains that's not what she is doing at all. The girl doesn't say anything and hands me my bag in silence. No thank you or anything. 2 stars because there's actually cute things here but the young employees are so rude it's upsetting! It's not hard to be a nice person to someone who is being nice to you. A nice place to shop with friendly staff and a wide variety of items. I enjoyed wandering through and appreciated how items were grouped together. Great visual appeal! DONT GO HERE!!! I was in here with my children who were eager to show me a really pretty Crystal store with lots of things I would be interested in; but as soon as my daughter dropped off her bag we were immediately followed with suspicion. after 30 minutes of browsing and acquiring things that we wanted to buy we were confronted by the manager (who had been stalking us) that they could "no longer waste time following us around" and that we had to leave. We were shocked. We had been openly discussing things we were interested in purchasing and they tore them from our hands as we asked if we could at least purchase them. We were told no and promptly forced out of the store. Im glad to see we arent the only ones who have had such an experience. Not only are they overpriced, they are judgemental and not friendly. Have been coming here for years have never had a problem with any of the staff but feeling you are being watched ruined my whole experience especially on Mother's Day! A girl with short black hair and a tattoo sleeve ruined the whole experience. At the register didn't even have proper manners and ask how we are nor made any conversation! My friend and I stumbled upon this place because we were attracted to the Coachella vibes from the mannequins on display but this place honestly has a little bit of everything which we were not expecting! Honestly there's something here for everyone whether it's shopping for Coachella outfits, organic goat milk bars, mandala towels, crystallized gems and jewelry, to signs for a man cave or mermaid decor, this was the most diverse store I've ever stepped into which makes it very unique in my opinion. Awesome store! Went here today on the recommendation of an employee at the CA Sock Co. on the same block, which was totally cool they'd recommend another store to visit. Walking in is a little overwhelming simply due to the massive selection of just about everything you can think of. If you don't find something here for you or as a gift, you're not going to find anything anywhere. I felt like a toddler chasing a shiny object... every time I'd find something & stop to check it out, something else would catch my eye & lure me away. It is a great place to get unique gifts. Great accessories (purses, shoes, jewelry, scarves, hats) Great selection of unique dresses, blouses and other clothing. It runs a little pricey, but most of the items are worth it. The location is excellent, it's next door to many fine bars, restaurants cafes, fro-yo shops and a buffalo exchange. Also walking distance from the beach. One of my must-sees whenever I'm in pacific beach :) read more

I love Pangea as a store for their eclectic merchandise mix from various local vendors. The downside: Their return policy is unfair to consumers. They leave it up to individual vendors whom may not have the customer in mind (rather their bottom dollar). Hence my issue with Vendor 1, the main clothing vendor in the front window of the store. DO NOT purchase from that front-of-the-store clothing vendor. I tried exchanging a flawed piece of clothing (a cream sweater that basically fell to shreds the moment I hand washed it), a present from my mother, and she wouldn't accept it. I even tried exchanging it for another one of her pieces, which would've cost me more out of pocket. TERRIBLE customer service. I will not be recommending her merch to friends and advise you to be wary before purchasing her pricey clothing. You can get way cheaper clothing at Closet right down the street. read more

The place has a lot of items that are beach theme which I was all set to buy then I came across big crates of dead star fish and coral! This should be illegal to sell this. I talked to the owner and she said," that people like buying coral and dead starfish so there is nothing wrong with selling them." This owner is ignorant and does not value our ocean. I purchased $200 worth of gifts here, including an $80 purse. The woman at the front desk failed to remove the giant security tag on the purse, and no security alarm went off as I walked out the door. I believe all of their "Smile, you are on camera" signs are fake and that their employees are too busy to pay attention, smile, or really care. When we called in and asked about it, explaining that we lived far from their store, they showed absolutely no compassion or willingness to make it right. read more

Browse the handmade jewelry, African masks, local framed photos of PB, or the pet-section, where you can find everything from doggie-hoodies to collars with bling. Sniff the scented soy candles, try the moisturizers, get yourself a "rubber dub dub" (a bar of soap with a condom suspended in the middle). I mean, who hasn't needed one of THOSE in the heat of the moment....? Listen to the section of CDs, grab something to read from the book section (I selected "What is Your Poop Telling You?") and get comfortable in one of the rustic couches that are also for sale. Pangaea is an awesome store, there's so much going on, you can literally find something for anyone. They have some unique clothes, funny novelty gifts, and some locally made stuff. I love how the store is arranged in sections, each section is carefully curated by theme, it's always fun to poke around here. There's a wine themed area, a mermaid/ocean themed area, a Buddha area, an area with local photographs, there's a rustic chic area, just all kinds of fun stuff. I'd definitely recommend giving yourself time, there's so much stuff to see! read more

I came here for the first time on Small Business Saturday and spent an hour just walking through the displays. SO many things - trinkets, treasures, gags, toys, art, it's like a eclectic non-sucky Etsy, but as a storefront. Prices are slightly higher than big box stores but of course it's more than worth it to support local businesses and artists displaying in the store. I'm good about not buying gunk, but love to go look at nick nacks and what have you. Pangaea is a treasure trove of random crap to buy. Vintage style signs (i.e. - Ford Motor Parts, Beer Is King, etc), shiney rocks, pieces by local artists, some beach bum clothes, seashells, various wood "carved" items, blah blah blah. I'd say it's perfect for those little gifts you'd buy kids...because kids like some of the most useless stuff you can imagine. I say...almost perfect. The down side? It''s a bunch of random stuff...but it's kinda pricey random stuff. It's one of those tourist shop places...or at least that's what it ocmes off as to me. But in this tourist shop, you're not paying $24 dollars for some cheap ass shirt that says "Sunny San Diego" but made in China for 65 cents. If you've never been, and you happen to be down in the PB area...I'd say it's worth a ten minute walk through. Do it. Do it now. read more

I bought sandals in a rush thinking that my regular size would fit (I have had a few pairs in this brand) when I tried them on at home they didn't fit-way too narrow. I brought them to the store with my receipt and to asked if I could exchange for the right size (not a refund) and they told me they looked worn. I can't fit them on my feet... I will never be back. I think you have to be a little uptight if you don't have fun walking through Pangaea. This is the place to come if you a) have no idea what you want to give someone for a little gift, b) want to buy yourself a little gift or c) just want an interesting place to browse for an hour. I don't think I've ever come here without buying something- a card, a candle, a scarf. I love wandering around and waiting for an "aha moment" when I discover something unplanned that would be perfect for a friend. I must say that the stuff here is a little overpriced, but this place is so amazing with all of the different things that they have. I love all the little sections that they have here, with the ocean theme, and a little day of the dead area, and more. This place is great! They have a HUGE selection ranging from clothing to nick-nacks to candles to photos to jewelry. It's a variety store like none other. I went there for a specific sized candle and a decorative pillow and found both. The girl who helped me was awesome, too. She knew that store like the back of her hand. Asked if I could see one of the necklaces and the lady at the cashier responds almost yelling that she can't leave to open the case. Lady, you don't need to yell plus I was not in a hurry so chill out. I always have such a pleasant experience when I go to this store. I love the free parking in the back and the free coffee. That in it of itself is good enough for me, but the fact that this huge, cool store is located in PB is just perfect. It adds spice and culture to the community. It smells so wonderful right when you walk in. I can find any gift I want there for anyone on my list. The merchandising is amazing, even with so much stuff and to top it all off the customer service was so on point! The sales staff knew where everything was and what was hot and trendy! I was visiting San Diego on vacation and found this gem in Pacific Beach. It's a unique concept - it appears to be a combination of a couple dozen different vendors/stores in one building. One little nook has wall art, one has novelty gifts, one has jewelry, etc., etc. There are tons of clothes, home decor, and gift items - and a huge variety. If I lived in town, I could see myself hitting this place up for birthday presents (especially for that friend who has everything), and a one-stop shop for Christmas presents. I also loved the style of clothing and jewelry - sort of bohemian, and definitely unique. It will be a must-stop whenever I'm visiting San Diego! read more

I'm so sad! I bought a seashell ring here but immediately lost it a few hours later. I should have known when it was a little too big. Damn these slim fingers of mine! The Outpost reminded me of a craft mall with one central cashier station. How they figure out to divide the money is beyond me. The whole place kind of reminded me of what Cost Plus should be, with items from around the world. Most items were reasonably priced but of course everything I liked was on the pricier side. I liked the giant wooden pineapple mirror and the other tiki themed mirrors. The stall with the mermaid stuff was cool. A giant copper mermaid, anyone? I just wish I had put my ring away instead of immediately wearing it. Sigh. $18 plus tax down the drain. read more

I had a really good time at Pangaea today. I went on my own to start the arduous task of Xmas shopping. This place is ADORABLE! I want to decorate my apartment with all the cute, shiny things they have to offer. Yes, I am instantly amused by shiny things. Aren't we all, deep down? Great selection for gifts; I got a few people knocked off my list in just one visit, and a few ideas for other gifts (they have sweet-smelling loose potpourris that I'm already itching to find a use for). You will find something here that interests you and/or makes you smile. Some of the stuff is overpriced, sure, but a lot of it is fair. I love coming here for all different type of unique gifts. When you're looking for that something special kind of gift for someone this is the place to go. From home decor, clothing, jewelry, baby gifts...candles and so much more. But when you go in and have bags! Make sure you check them in because they don't allow walking around with bags and purses, or backpacks. I guess they have too many things here and people steal. So what I've learned is that each little small section or wall is local or hand made items. It seems like they rent out a space and display or retail the items!!! The staff is always friendly here! If you've never been here, you MUST come here when you have the chance. It's the most amazing place I've been to in San Diego, with everything eclectic. You can find the most unique gifts at this location, with things you would never find anywhere else. They have things from every location around the world. I swear that every time I come to visit San Diego (since I've moved), that's one of the first places I want to go to. Unfortunately, the parking can be an issue especially on weekends, holidays, and days that it's nice outside. There is limited street parking outside, but I always find myself parking in the residential areas and just walking. It's nice too because it's just minutes from the beach as well. Since this place is individual boutiques, it can be either expensive or inexpensively priced. My favorite brand of candle is Voluspa, and the pricing at Pangea is the same you would pay anywhere else. That being said, I believe the novelty lies in the fact that there is such an eclectic mix of items being sold...all under one roof. A family of 4 can walk in to the store and each person can find something that interests them. It's great for people with expensive taste, or for those who are on a tight budget, very versatile. read more
