Panini Opa exceeded my expectations, especially given that I would not normally pick to eat at a Greek restaurant. My husband has been begging me to go here and I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the shrimp gyro without mushrooms and it was delicious! I added the garlic cream sauce and it went perfectly. For some reason, this is the only gyro on the menu that doesn't come with sauce already. My husband had the traditional gyro and said it was better than most gyros he's had in the past. I also ordered an appetizer of spanakopita. It was not really what I expected. Maybe what they have is more traditional spanakopita (again, I'm not a Greek food expert) but I was expecting a few small triangles. What they served was one long rectangle-shaped piece. Great Gyro I've driven past this place dozens of times, usually at night when they are already closed. Finally drove by when they were open and stopped in. Ordered up the traditional gyro with fries. The price for the platter (gyro side and drink) was very reasonably priced. Food came out in about 5 minutes. On to the food, I ate the fries first (i hate cold fries) and they had good seasoning. Not too overboard, but far from bland. The gyro was the star though. The lamb was well cooked not super greasy, not tough from being overcooked. The cucumber sauce was nice, not too strong. Honestly, we haven't even tried the food yet. We experienced the most horrible and discriminatory service. We called in for pick up and the woman who was taking pick up orders around 8:25 PM today deserves to be fired for how f**king rude she was to my father who has an accent. I honestly forgot that people still had narrow minded views to treat immigrants that way. Just terrible. Went to Panini Opa for lunch. Service was fast and efficient. Menu had great variety. They accommodated a food allergy issue by graciously making a substitute. Had the chicken gyro and the lemon chicken soup. Both very flavorful choices and ample serving sizes to share. The soup was a little more tart than I've had there at previous visits. Restaurant was clean, bright and comfortable. Restrooms clean and up to date. Definitely will make a return appearance. read more

This a nice reincarnation of an old Rally's location. I finally stopped in for lunch after months of driving past it. It's very pleasant inside; warm and cozy. Since it's a Greek/Italian mash-up, I thought I'd go with the Greek panini and enjoyed the result. There was nice chunks of gyro meat, lots of olives and feta cheese, some tomatoes and onions on some tasty rye bread. You know how some paninis can be a bit greasy? Not here, the bread was nice a toasted without a smidge of grease. Everything blended into a tasty sammich. Overall, this a solid 3-star place. Sure, there are better Greek and Italian places around town but if you're in the neighborhood and need a good, quick lunch place give it a try. read more

I am really sad to see so many poor reviews in a row - maybe since it has been another month since most of them have been there, they have improved. It did take me a minute to figure out that the menu was sitting on top of the cooler, but the staff was very nice, food was very hot when I got it, and great flavors all around. I ordered the Greek Panini no olives with the lemon potatoes instead of fries. My panini was hot, had some of the best lamb I've ever had in a gyro-type setting (it was moist, had great flavor), the tomatoes on it were fresh, they heaped on the feta (love!) and they honored my request for no olives - and the lemon potato was pretty tasty and was hot when I got it and cooked perfectly. My friend got a spicy chicken panini thing and potatoes and liked it a lot as well. Everything was served on paper plates, which I don't really like for a sit down restaurant, but the restaurant was very clean, staff friendly, and food good. I really enjoy the food at Panini Opa. But I think it is time to stop going there. As far as I know they have no delivery services. You go in there and there is a line of people and then they expect you to sign on their card reader for a credit card. They recently put up some plexiglass which does not go all away across. Three people were behind the counter with masks either below their nose, no on at all or around their neck. The woman was not behind the plexiglass with the mask around her neck. I do not want to call up and complain, and she will answer the phone. All day long I go to places with this behavior. It is sickening. read more

We ate here for lunch and it was delicious! Located on Sawmill Rd and Bethel Rd. The ordering was a little hinkey (which is why we hacked a star), but the food was delicious and they give large portions. As soon as you walk in it's a little confusing on whether you are to seat yourself or go up to the counter. None of the workers instructed us on what to do, we just played follow the leader . You order at the counter, which is where they also have the menus. We ordered two regular gyros, an order of fries, calamari and two drinks. Came to $26. The portions were large, we only ate about 1/4 of our gyros and fries, and about 1/2 the calamari. Will definitely being going back. read more

After reading the reviews I wish I would have went with falafel and hummus here, but I didn't. I ordered the Gyro normal with fries. I liked my Gyro, but it was impossible to pick up and eat so I ended up using a fork and eating it more like a salad. So it was loaded with lots of fresh veggies with a decent amount of meat, but very little sauce and it was a bland sauce at that. The fries were nothing special, but ok. I do agree when you walk in it takes a second for you to realize where the menus are. Also I ordered it to go and had to ask him for utensils that he didn't even give to us, I just walked over to the Mexican place and got utensils there. I agree with others, 8 bucks for mostly lettuce and cheap frozen fries is way too much and with all the other places around it's just not worth the trip back. They need to take a look at other places and what they are doing and get with the game. read more

I had been pretty excited about this place opening since I tend to find myself up in the area of Bethel Road a lot. I finally decided to try it today and it was sadly not as good as I had hoped. I ordered the falafel pita platter with lemon wedges. Like others have said, there was a ton of iceberg lettuce and some bland tasting tomatoes on the pita. Whatever the sauce was they put on it was okay. The part that disappointed me the most was the falafel because it was dry and a little too hard/chewy on the outside. The spices also weren't very flavorful. The lemon wedges were alright, but a little too salty. My boyfriend ordered the Italian panini and he was satisfied with what he got more than I was. The fries were actually pretty good. They came out light, crispy, and tasty. It was one of the better items we tried. We then tried a couple of the desserts which were somewhat pricey in my opinion, but good. They were probably the best part of my experience! Overall, I might go back again and try another dish someday, but I wasn't as impressed as I hoped I would be. read more

As one who had not previously tried Greek food in many years, I am sad to say that it may be awhile before I try again. Finally having stopped in to check this place out, I was disappointed by the taste of the food, the price, and even the rude customers seated in the establishment. (granted, that last item is NOT the fault of anyone working there) The "traditional" food items I sampled, and the fries- they were incredibly salty which is a big no-no for people with high blood pressure. I should have said something about that beforehand, I admit... but when food is THAT salty it makes me think they just heated up some frozen stuff. Nothing I had seemed good for the price, but the individual who took my order was nice enough. I have no problems with the attitude of those who served me- just the food and pricing. Giving three stars, since I do not really know enough about Greek food to speak with authority about the subject. I have only this one experience to go on... perhaps someone could suggest other places for me to try? :-) I may wait awhile then check back in and order something different. read more

We went right after they opened...they had been open two days. There were some of the issues that you might expect from a new place...some mismatched decor, etc. But the food was really tasty. I got a gyro and my husband got a chicken gyro and fries. My gyro was really good. The sauce did not appear to be tzatziki but a delicious garlic sauce (mayo based, I would say). Hubby liked his gyro also and the fries were battered and crispy. The building was a touch cramped and the possible drive through was not yet open-- but I'm looking forward to going back here, especially once they find their groove. I enjoyed Panini Opa but it falls behind other Greek gyro places in my opinion. I decided to stay away from tzatziki sauce since I saw everyone complain. We ordered the Spicy Gyro and a Veggie Panini with fries. The veggie Panini was pretty good but it seemed they went light on the eggplant as I felt like i received more peppers than any other veggie. I even pulled off the top to look for eggplant and it was cut very small and minimal. I really like eggplant and that was one of the reasons I went for this panini. They did have a good amount of feta in the panini which was good. Also the panini was steaming when I received it. The Spicy gyro was just ok. The sauce spicy feta sauce had an odd taste and I would call it the "Spicy Gyro for people who don't like spicy food." I didn't taste any spice and it does not compare to the Olive Tree's spicy feta. The gyro was stuffed with lettuce and tomatoes at the front half and the meat seemed to reside at the bottom. The fries were actually pretty good, I don't really like fries but it was that or lemon wedges that looked pathetic. I saw a few people throwing their wedges away. They also don't have a menu board, just menus you pick up and look at while in line. I talked to an employee and he says that they are working on it but the owners are just so busy. They run the Greek corner and they are hoping to open up one or two more of these places. I am not going out of my way for one of these places but someone might. I thought the prices were a little high for a gyro when I can get good gyros for $5 elsewhere. They do have coupons in the Entertainment Book so that does help offset prices. I really like the decor inside and enjoyed sitting down to eat there. It has a good ambiance and one can order alcohol here so that is a bonus. Nice stop for a quick lunch. First time there so ordered a gyro with fries. I love gyros! Not so much this one. It looked great, crunchy onions, feta cheese, sauce, some lettuce and melt in your mouth gyro meat. But there was an additional item I was not expecting...tons of salt! The salt overpowered what would have been a great gyro. It was so salty I couldn't finish. Very disappointing. I love Mediterranean cuisine and saw many things on the menu to try, but am hesitant. I will eat just about anything. There is very little I do not like when it comes to food. I do have dishes I like more than others but for the most part, I can do just about anything. With that said, let me say that this was the worst food and experience I've ever tasted/had in my entire lifespan of 45 years! You have to order McDonald's style but it's clear that this place was setup to be a server style outfit. You have to grab a table menu and stand at the register looking through the menu. If you pay by credit card (debit card) It prints out a place for a tip. Very tacky. The cashier was not very friendly. Not mean or rude, just not friendly. I ordered a gyro with cucumber sauce, not the garlic sauce the comes with it by default. that sounded nasty. I ordered fries and a drink combo. My wife ordered the same as well as a Spanakopita and chocolate mocha cake for us to split for desert. The fries tasted like old cold burger king fries. A place has to work pretty hard to foul up french fries but they succeeded. I started to wonder if they were old Rally fries they found laying around. I ate 4 or 5 fries and stopped. The gyro meat itself was good, but how can you mess that up since it's ordered pre-made and heated up? It was the sauce. It was perfectly nasty!! The Spanakopita was the best of what we had but it was super greasy. To be fair, I'd never had one of these before and I'm sure it's just how it's made. Philo Dough probably soaks up the grease. I ate 3 bites and threw the rest away. I did force the gyro down because I was hungry but for the most part, I ate just the meat and maybe half of everything else. My wife had a bite or two of everything on her plate and then threw it out. Here's the big kicker. The cake! The top icing was hard and the cake was stale. I mean like crunchy stale. My wife complained and was told, "That's how it's made, it's suppose to be that way". What kind crap is that? So we couldn't even get them to make this right. So big waste of money. I'd rather eat White castle that has been consumed by my dog and pushed out during his morning walk. I will never ever go back to the place even if it was free. read more

I love a nice gyro salad and my favorite part is usually the creamy garlic dressing that you get! I have had many a gyro salad at different places and it's always the same, so when I decided to try this place I was super disappointed when I ordered my gyro salad and it had a balsamic dressing. When I asked the lady at the counter for a creamy dressing she was very rude and said normally they up charge for a dressing. The salad was already ruined with the balsamic dressing and she wanted to give me attitude about an up charge when I tipped her for taking my order! How rude I will definitely never be back here! [That review has been removed by me.] Long story short, Panini Opa has good food, but the preparation is slow (10+ minutes for a gyro and fries on last visit), and so you will have to decide whether this is an acceptable wait for good casual food. We opted for the rice pilaf and after trying my sister's lemon potatoes, I'd say we made a great choice. Best Gyro in Columbus. Seriously. Large, fresh chunks of lamb on a soft Pita. Surprisingly, their fries are very tasty as well. The Greek salad is wonderful as well. I like cheese and am in love with their chunky feta. They have great appetizers too. I come here often and usually get humus with with Pita slices or calamari. The calamari is tender and juicy, better than many seafood establishments I've been to. There are a few items off menu. They have jumbo shrimp that are delicious. Located on the corner of Sawmill and Bethel, with easy parking. The place isn't the biggest but they utilize their size well. Prices are very reasonable. **Caution, make sure the ketchup dispenser you have on your table has real ketchup in it and not watered down with vinegar or water.*** I was concerned that after a few dabs with my fries that I ingested something not too pleasant. Take notice of the worn down label on the ketchup container, I think their Heinz but the label was worn down. Instead of new ketchup containers it looks like they refill them which I'm concerned with the sanitation aspect of refilled ketchup jars in a restaurant and public setting. We went to this place with insistence of a friend but I'm sad to say I was disappointed. I was hoping for a good experience as I pass it literally almost every 2 days to and from appointments so I was hoping it would eventually prove to be a worthwhile stop. Obviously one of the favorites in a place like this would be gyro but the meat was not spiced enough. Other gyro places would have much of more of the "Greek" spice to it. Each time I pass the parking lot seems full so obviously there are people that enjoy the food. I will not as enthusiastic to come back and try again.
