PanIQ Escape Room is located in the heart of downtown Long Beach. They don't have their own parking lot, so I parked in the garage located behind Hamburger Mary's. The first two hours are free, and it only took a few minutes to walk over. The lobby has a comfy couch and chairs. The whole front of the business is glass and let's in a lot of light while also letting you watch what is going on outside in a pretty busy area of town. The lobby also has several games, a video leaderboard, and a prize claw game. The building is pretty large, and has a long hallway running the length of the exterior providing access to their various escape rooms. They currently have four rooms, with a fifth set to open by the end of the year. They are also building a Virtual Reality escape room on the second floor which will have six or seven different games. If that wasn't enough, they also have a third floor which is being developed. We decided to do the Pirates of Tortuga room. The adventure begins before you even enter the room with a pirate character standing outside of the entry door. There are no clues for the first three minutes, and the room has a cute start. The room is mostly linear, but the two of us were working on different things at times. There are a few dexterity puzzles, only a few locks, and mostly mechanical puzzles. The décor was great and immersive, and there were several unique puzzles we had never seen before. This room is rated as medium difficulty, but I'd say it's somewhere between easy and medium as we escaped with 17 minutes left. We were given a few unsolicited nudges, so be sure to say you want zero help unless requested if that is your preference. After finishing the first room, I asked if they had a same day discount, and our game master Peter gave us a quick peek into their other three rooms. They do offer a 30% discount to book another game on the same day, so we decided to follow up with the Haunted Manor room. They also have a 10% discount for weekday bookings, and we were able to stack that for a total discount of 40%. The Haunted Manor room is described as spooky, but I would say it is only slightly spooky. There are zero locks in this room, just several dexterity puzzles and mechanical puzzles. Similar to the pirates room, no clues for the first three minutes, and this one is mostly linear but we split up and worked separately at times. We got off to a slow start, but finally got on a roll. You only get 45 minutes to complete this room, and we escaped with seven minutes left. It is rated as easy, but I would say it is a "hard easy" or "easy medium". The décor in this room is a little more basic, but fits the theme well. This room also had some unique puzzles which is always great to see. Peter was our game master, and he was great from start to finish. We could feel his enthusiasm, especially when we talked about the rooms afterwards, and when he described their plans for a lot of expansion. Their pricing is reasonable at $49.95 for two people, and lower price tiers for 3-4 and 5+ people. They have a 10% discount for weekday bookings, and a 30% discount for same day bookings which we were able to stack. We had a great time, and will return at some point to do their other rooms.

This was our first time at this escape room, and it turned out to be a great family bonding experience! We wanted something fun but not scary or demonic, so we chose the Pirates of Tortuga room. It's listed as "Medium" difficulty, but wow--it was definitely challenging! We expected more clue-reading and logic-based puzzles, but this room leaned more toward puzzle-solving and "look around carefully" style challenges. Even with unlimited hints (which we definitely used a lot of!), we weren't able to escape within the 1-hour limit. Still, it was exciting and kept us all engaged the whole time. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I wish I remembered the young lady's name who checked us in and explained the room--her name started with an "M"--but she was so kind and welcoming. Even though we didn't escape, we had a blast and would definitely come back to try a different room next time. Highly recommend for a fun group or family outing!

Max was awesome! Experienced the Wizard Trial in a group of four, great place for a double date! He was swift in giving us a hint if needed, very clear and friendly explanations. Cannot wait to come back again! Third time experiencing an escape room and I have to say Max alone made me want to return, the way he provided hints that were not too clear yet helpful, asked for room feedback at the end, offered to take a picture of us recommending where to stand for it! Overall 10/10 experience and have already told another friend about it. Thanks for making me feel smart Max!

PanIQ continues to do another great job! This time we did their pirate themed room- the production value of the rooms are always top notch! It feels like we're on some sort of professional set, and the props were kept in surprisingly great condition for an escape room. The difficulty of the puzzles was also reasonable- none of them made us feel stupid, yet it wasn't mind numbingly easy. We came here for our 11 year anniversary, and Mars and Jenna made sure it was a special and fun experience! I was not expecting balloons and a card once we escaped! I still recommend this place for a fun time!

Good times!

Group of five of us did the Insane Asylum room. Although we did not pass the game we had a great time. The Insane Asylum had us reaching for our logical and analytical problem solving skills. It was team effort which made it very enjoyable because I was on the fence. The Decor was creepy and on theme. Will definitely be back to do a different room the next time we're in town.

This place is amazing! I have done two escape rooms so far and they have been exactly what I expect from escape rooms. Their props and rooms are so nicely done and I feel that their level rating is accurate. I personally LOVED the asylum because I'm a nurse that loves psych, so this was a treat for me. It was definitely difficult even with 4 people but we finished with 3 minutes left!! I highly recommend this place! They also do a deal if you book in advance on the same day you get 30% off your tickets! The tickets can be for any room and good for a year. You can have the gift certificates handy for a whole year! It's a bargain if you love escape rooms!

had the most amazing time ever here! it was the last activity of the day for me and my boyfriend and so many of our activities were being rescheduled but at PanIQ Escape Room they moved our reservation to later in the day with no issues and we were so thankful for that! the escape room itself was so fun! we did the easiest escape room and we finished it on time, we are new to escape rooms but this one was just perfect. when we came shai and johnathan had made a card for my boyfriend for his birthday which was so unexpected and sweet of them, they also gave us coins to play on the claw machines for free and gave him the prize he wanted, this was a perfect end to the day, we will be back!

Pirate escape room was a blast!

Pirate escape room was a blast! Each room was interesting and would def recommend! Thanks so much for having us!

This was my first escape room and I was so impressed! This venue is so clean and offers some good options. We did the Wizards Trial room for a group of 2. Max was incredible in explaining everything and providing support. We made it with only 38 seconds to spare (phew!) Max answered all our questions and offered to capture some photos. He also reviewed future booking deals and told us about the 5th room they will be opening. I highly Recommend!

There are two parking spots right in front of the location and both were available when we arrived. There is also plenty of parking on the street very close. When you arrive, you wait outside because the main lobby is actually part of one of the rooms. There is some outdoor furniture and a bench to sit on out front. They monitor the outdoor cameras and will come out and greet you when it is time for your experience. We did "The Queen" room which has a theme of saving lost souls aboard the Queen Mary ship. It is not a scary room at all, it is just dimly lit. It has a split start with one person in the room and one outside which is always an interesting way to begin. The décor is great and after having done 30+ rooms, it is always nice when a place has puzzle types that you have never encountered before which was the case here. The room is mostly non-linear and hints are given via walkie talkie. Our game master Christina was great before, during, and after our experience. She gave us a nudge several times when we asked for help and we were able to escape with five minutes left. I commented on the booking that it was our anniversary and she even gave us a choice of a few gifts afterwards, which was very kind and thoughtful. For only two people, their rooms are on the expensive side at $59 per person. It drops to $38.50 per person with three, and $35 per person with four. We had a good time and will grab a few friends and try "The Lab" room in the future.

Let me preface this review by mentioning I've not done an Escape Room before, so it's hard for me…read moreto rate them, especially the same way I rate restaurants, coffee shops, or even parks for that matter, IYKYK. However, after doing my very first escape room at Cinema Escape Rooms, I'm definitely willing to make a return visit, not just to this one, but any escape room really. Cinema Escape Rooms is located in a town square in Los Alamitos on the south side of Katella between Noel and Lexington. It may be easy to miss because it's on the second level of a two-story building, and you almost certainly won't see the first word, especially if you're driving by. Look for the words "Escape Room" on the second level by a stairwell next to 7 Eleven, and that's where Cinema Escape Rooms is. First and foremost, don't go there without having made an appointment first; the appointments help the gamemasters plan ahead by cleaning and preparing the rooms before the start of each game. They have four rooms available: Ark of the Covenant, A Strange Thing, Home All Alone, and Office Escape. Each of the four rooms can accommodate a different number of people, from 7 to 15, and the pricing will vary, even per person, depending on how many are in a group. The cheapest rate is $35 per person, and you'd need at least 4 other teammates to attain that rate. Given everything mentioned in this paragraph, it can be understandable how planning a team outing can be a little challenging here, especially with the possibility of last-minute no shows or others who want in last minute. Here's an example: I was hoping to do Home All Alone because I was most familiar with the Home Alone movie. However, I was asked to switch to A Strange Thing, which I'm not familiar with, but could accommodate two more people if we had any last-minute additions. I thought the more familiar you are with the movie, the more likely you'll escape the room before your hour is up, but that's not necessarily the case here, though I could argue you might not be as actively engaged with your team. I switched anyways. We had a dozen in our party, and to ensure that everybody would pay the same rate, we had to divide our party so that no one group was at least twice the size of the other. However, one person in my group ended up kind of late, which almost caused one of us to have to switch over. She did arrive just a few minutes later, which gave ample time for one of the gamemasters to give a brief orientation to the group doing Office Escape while we were waiting for our last team member to arrive, so I got to listen to this orientation twice. The two most important things in my opinion are one, there are biohazard signs on items that are not intended to be clues for the game. Secondly, nothing needs to be pulled/pushed/opened/closed/etc. with excessive force, kind of like trying to fit a puzzle piece that isn't shaped to fit. I was a little surprised, though pleasantly of course, that we were allowed unlimited hints without a time penalty. However, we wanted to progress as far through as possible with minimal help. The gamemaster would keep an eye on us via camera in the room, and they'd give us hints depending on our progress. Also, each clue is only used once, so keep track of which ones have been used and which ones haven't! Of course, I'd rather not spoil the details, but I kept misinterpreting the clues as red herrings for the most part. Except for one where we were stuck for a good 5-10 minutes close to the end, and the gamemaster, Mike, was impressed enough with something I said that he used my quotation as a hint for us to find that missing piece to the puzzle. Really appreciated that because I was apparently onto something that the rest of my team didn't catch on to! Of course, there will be times when your teammates will understand something, but you may not. When we were finally done, I wasn't sure it was done until Mike opened the door to let us know we had won. I loved how encouraging he was to our group! There's a waiver you need to fill out first, and the QR code is posted at the front door. I didn't know this ahead of time, and one of my teammates brought up a concern that if you didn't bring your phone, you wouldn't be able to fill out the waiver, which is in the form of a Google Document. I would recommend having a kiosk or two at the front that can be dedicated to waivers. The lighting in the A Strange Thing room was not consistent throughout the game. Some parts had significantly dimmer lighting that it became harder to read the clues. There are also parts where lights are flashing like crazy, which can be startling. I almost thought about giving 4 stars, but decided to keep it at 5 stars because their website did give the fair warnings about the lighting in this game. Overall, I highly recommend Cinema Escape Rooms! BTW, if you're curious, my group of 5 escaped in 52 minutes, and the other group of 7 escaped in 57 minutes. Go my group! lol

This is a nice place for either a rage room or an escape room…read more A few weeks ago, I did a rage room experience here, which was my first time doing a rage room. Marc, the owner, was very nice and kind. He even allowed me to do a special request where I wore an outfit (which is a Morpshuit with t-shirt and shorts) underneath the gear used for the rage room. Very kind of him to accommodate this. I have never done a rage room before, so it was a unique experience. Shattering glass, and breaking things felt very liberating and it helped me release tension/anger. Additionally, at the very end, there was even another surprise where Marc even taught me how to throw ninja stars on the wooden board. It was super cool. At first, I couldn't get any ninja stars to stick, but on one of my final attempts, I actually did get the ninja star to stick, which was awesome!! I was pretty elated that I was able to do that! Anyways, shout out to Marc the owner for being very nice and accommodating. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a cool, friendly place to do a rage room or an escape room. I should check out their escape rooms some time soon.

Also took a while before someone came out to help (I think they were in the back assisting maybe another customer?) but some signage would help. - Waivers could be sent prior to arrival to save on time since it was a google form - staff could be more welcoming and better at explaining. I understand it may be sketchy to go to a customer's car to evaluate items brought from home since it could be a risk to the staff, but I think it could either be instructed earlier before arrival OR simply just state that you cannot leave the business. The delivery of the comment made by the staff was not very smooth (almost felt like implying we were bringing something bad or wrong). - A timer inside the room might be helpful as it's hard to keep track of time once you're destroying things. - Phone "mount" could be better secured with a clasp or something because one bump and our phone fell on the ground where there's shards and scraps everywhere. This could have easily scratched the phone. - Room felt cramped, but understand that may be limited by the size of the store space. - Half of the group was arriving late, in which I shared upfront and thought that the staff would assist in getting them as ready as possible before our first group came out to swap, but when I came out, I saw that they had not even begun to change. I understand the face shield and gloves are limited quantities, but they could have started fitting in the other items like jumpsuit and face coverings. - Also as we were swapping, I ended up giving the second group the instructions when it really should have been the staff to give them the run through. It felt very disorganized during the swapping. For the price, I think it would be nice if each group received at least one larger item and not just cups, plates, and glass. All-in-all, it was fun to let out some rage by wrecking things and not having to clean it up. My friends and I did enjoy this different experience. Also fun to watch them from the room cam inside the Axe Room as they rage.

The room was clean and high-tech for proper immersion into the puzzle's plot. The puzzles were challenging and straight-forward, and I appreciated the lack of red herrings and the ability to take your phone around. I would recommend taking pictures of important clues so you don't have to run from room-to-room to cross-reference! Using the flashlight on my phone was also helpful in the dimmer rooms of the puzzle, as well. Overall, awesome experience with the escape room and will be back again whenever we are in the area. The only thing I would suggest that they do different is pause the timer for the "story videos" that they play here and there. The clips are entertaining but they are fairly yappy and waste precious seconds of the allotted hour...
