Sicilian slice
Hector S.

Panko Pizza in Middletown has that old school pizzeria vibe. This place can easily be missed driving on 35 but they have 9.99 signs large pizza signs around the parking lot. I was interested in their panko crust so decided to try a plain slice, a Sicilian slice, and garlic knots. The plain slice was oily, floppy, and didn't wow me. While I liked the crust the rest of the slice was just okay. I thought the Sicilian was a better slice and the garlic knots were huge. A properly warmed up garlic knot here is probably really good. Nonetheless, this place is worth a try and the large pie for only 9.99 is a good deal.

Finally got to try Panko Pizza. Found out about it on TikTok and Dave Portnoy. They are famous for their regular $9.99 pie. It's a charming old school pizzeria, affiliated with Artichoke Basiles. We ordered the upside down, and the hot oil pie. We ordered garlic knots but they were out of them, so we tried the breadsticks. Our server told us about other pies we should try next time. It's a definite must try. I will say I didn't love the upside down pie, (nothing compares to L&B). But it was very goo. Looking forward to trying their vodka pie.

Panko is my go-to pizza spot for lunch break slices. I'm in love with the perfectly crispy crust in every bite. Unique in the best way. My favorite is their mushroom & onion slice that's always available by the slice. The staff is always very friendly. Definitely my favorite pizza in the area.

Been seeing this place pop up on various foodie Instagrams lately, so I decided I had to try it for myself. I really liked this pizza! I know everyone talks about it, but it has to be said -- the prices are truly outstanding for this day and age. $10 for a large cheese pie and $13 for a Sicilian?! This is completely unheard of outside of chains like Dominos. Incredible value. It's much bigger than I thought it would be with plenty of seating inside, and it's in a plaza so there's a large parking lot -- both bonuses in my book. The guy at the counter was super friendly and updated us after we ordered to tell us how much longer it would be until our pizzas were ready (we got one large cheese pie, and one Sicilian). Now, onto the pizza itself: I REALLY liked the large cheese pie. The sauce was slightly sweet and had onion in it, which I love, and the panko breadcrumbs on the bottom gave it a great crisp. Not only that, but I really enjoyed the texture -- it was almost like eating an everything bagel. Really good (though a little messy because the crust is thin and the panko gets eeeeverywhere). The Sicilian was good, but not great -- nothing to write home about, hence the -1 star. But I will absolutely be back, making the hour-long drive, for a large cheese pie.

This place has a traditional, old school pizza place vibe with a little bit of a face lift. I came to try the famous Panko crust slice and I was honestly quite surprised at how delicious it was and how the panko just added a little touch to the crust that was surprisingly nice. The sauce was a little bit sweeter than my liking but overall a really great slice, I would definitely come back for a slice or to try other food they have. Employees were friendly and you can't beat the $10 panko crust pizza!

I was really excited to try this pizzeria. When I arrived I parked in the plaza lot. I walked in and got the old school vibe. I was greeted and ordered the chicken pie. It was made fresh and came out in about 10 minutes. It looked good! When I dug in, I noticed it was a bit messy with the crust. I found out it was dipped Panko bread crumbs, which was super cool and made it more tasty. I really enjoyed my experience and time.

This place makes a great thin crust pizza. They use chuckned mozzarella not shredded. The crust is super thin and gets a nice char.

I decided to try a new Pizza joint today so I turned to my trusty Yelp app which never fails. Basille's pizza is OMG OUTSTANDING! This pie is separated from the many places dotted all around because of a few key things. Chunked mozzarella instead of sliced or shredded. By chunking the cheese in house they have an even coverage of cheese but separation so the sauce can make its way into your bite. Super thin crust and coarse corn meal on the peel when sliding the pies into the oven. This adds more crispiness. Oiled dough instead of flour. When they store the dough sets and stretch a pizza they use oil instead of flour to keep it from sticking to their hands and the work surface. This is why they can make such a crispy thin crust. Their tomato sauce is wonderful! It's very natural and scratch like. This is beyond most pizza places in the area who used a doctored canned sauce. I got a large pie with meatball, sausage and pepperoni and it's amazing. They use a thick sliced pepperoni that gets the right amount of caramelization. The sausage is sliced on a bias that gives you bigger pieces. The meatballs are ground instead of sliced giving you great coverage. This pie in my photo was only $26 bucks. It's bigger and less pricey that the same pie ordered an my regular pizza places. One slice and I'm stuffed. The place has a nice old school Brooklyn feel. I love the big comfy pleated booths and the photos of famous Italian folks cooking on the walls. The staff were top shelf! Super friendly helpful and overall professional. Good people are key to a good eatery. This place is remarkable and everyone should try it!!!

A must try! I got the 18" Round Panko Crusted Pie and the Pickup Special, Sicilian Pie. (Sauce on top). The sauce was very tasteful, the Perfect amount of cheese and the pancko added an extra crunch. The Sicilian with the extra sauce on top and cheese on the bottom, really go great with the thick crust. If you're in the area you must stop. There is many more items I've seen on social media that I had no time to try.

INCREDIBLE!!!!

Panko-coated crust pizza, a new concept by Francis Garcia, owner of Artichoke pizza in NY--let me tell you, I stopped in because I was in the area and needed a quick bite before a long ride home and I was NOT expecting to be blown away. I eat a lot of pizza, I celebrate national pizza day, I like some and have had some disappointments but this has reached top of my pizza list. Not only was the crust deliciously crunchy but the sauce and cheese were ooey-gooey fantastic. The unassuming restaurant is in a strip mall and it's very clean inside. We ordered a LARGE vodka sauce pie and 2 sodas and it all came out to $20 bucksssss. Can you believe it? For two people, and we had pizza left over to take home. $20 doesn't get you anything nowadays, one time a homeless man in NYC was asking around for $20. This place is really far from home but if I'm ever in the area I am taking a pie or 2 to go. Yum!

This is the massive $9.99 large plain pie.

Crispy crust with great ingredients. I would highly recommend trying it. The Italian dog was oversized and well worth the cost.

Did panko increase their pizza from $10 to $15 since the barstool review? Website has it listed at $15 now

Website is listed that way, but I was only charged $9.99 for the XL pie.

Bottom line: amazing vegan and gluten-free pizza options, but stick to pickup ONLY. DO NOT order…read moredelivery under any circumstances. As a vegan with a gluten-free family member, finding a pizza place that does both well is nearly impossible - until we found this spot. The vegan and gluten-free options here are genuinely delicious, which is why we order from here all the time. However, I need to give a serious warning about delivery. Every single time we've tried it, it's been a disaster. We're talking 1-2 hour wait times, which is absolutely ridiculous for pizza. One time they even delivered my order to the wrong address, so I had to wait even longer to get my food. At that point, the pizza isn't even worth it anymore. If you order for PICKUP though, this place is fantastic. The food is ready on time, it's hot and fresh, and you'll actually enjoy your meal. We've learned our lesson and now only do pickup, and we've had a great experience every time. So if you need solid vegan and gluten-free pizza, this is your spot - just walk in and pick it up yourself. Your stomach (and your patience) will thank you.

I'm so hyped they have Vegan food as so many places completely ignore the veg customers! I am sad…read moreto say the food was a miss for me but I am not sure if was due to getting delivery instead of dining in.

Finally tried Lubrano's, had heard good things from friends. Decided to just go the take out route…read moreso no comments on dish presentation. We ordered the Pasta Al Forno as an appetizer & Chicken Scarpariello for the main dish. Was quoted 35-40 min when I called it in, arrived ~30 min, paid & food came out near the 40 min quote. The pasta - for us the cheese on top was perhaps over toasted as it was on the dry side. Flavor was fine otherwise. Not sure I'd order this for a main dish without added protein though. The Chicken Scarp - excellent. The chicken & potatoes were very tender. The mild sausage makes this dish come together, it adds a level of savoriness to complement the balsamic sweetness in the sauce. I also like the long angled slices of sausage nicely seared on each side, it was not expected vs other versions that I've had. Meal also came with bread to soak up that chicken sauce. Also noting the place seemed packed, only 2 spots on their lot were open plus it sounded busy inside. Will try it next time onsite with one of my many fine bottles of wine. :)

This location is right off the highway with plenty of parking…read more Cute little place with a diner kind of vibe. We had the calamari and the sausage and broccoli rabe for appetizers were delicious. We all had different entrees, we were all happy with our choices and had enough for lunch the next day. The service here was to par very attentive. I will be back.
