I think I've reviewed this place before but I can't get enough of it! The coffee is top notch and the decor and ambience is eclectic and fun. They roast their own coffee and their signature flavors are strong and delicious. My favorite one is the Jimi Hendrix however with the help of the barista took out the hazelnut and replaced it with pumpkin spice. Yes!!! Adding a pumpkin muffin I felt it was Fall with 78 degree weather. The avocado toast was a bit messy but the vegetables we're fresh. Parking is super difficult to find so expect to take a little walk. read more

The Spanish mocha is delish! I'd recommend it for something on the sweeter side. I also tried the Vietnamese coffee which wasn't as smooth as I typically like it. The food was fine, nothing crazy good in my opinion. I think the real highlight is the ambience of the place. There's plenty of seating and the shop inside with all kinds of goodies including a variety of loose leaf teas is captivating. The pastries were beautiful and looked homemade, too. I'll have to return to try one of em. I know some folks don't like when coffee shops don't have WiFi but at Panikin, they make it easy for you to be present with whomever you're with... including yourself. They have no WiFi but the location is awesome and the service is wonderful! read more

The ambiance is what sells Pannikin. Perfect place to hangout with friends, inside and outside seating. No wifi so seating is always ample as people aren't often staying for very long periods of time. Food and drinks are good, the bakery goods especially are fully worth it, but ~$18 for a basic tuna melt is a bit much. read more

Saw this while driving by. Decided to stop in for a coffee. My coffee was delicious and my son said it was the best matcha he's ever had! And he's tried a lot. Games and table upstairs in a quaint house. Great vibes! My favorite is their sign that said "no WiFi, just coffee". Gotta love that! read more

This place is in desperate need of a thorough scrub down. Once that's done, rinse and repeat five more times. Now, let's talk about the order line. When the staff are actually being attentive, it works great. But it doesn't. C'mon this is a 1 star review. How can you be surprised? The staff are taking orders wildly and taking payments out of order. People will be standing in line for 15mins and then get skipped by 3 people because of this disorganized chaos. Dear staff, just be more attentive and go beyond the bare minimum and this can be avoided. Finally, let's discuss the price. $4.50 for a large drip. Those are clown prices. Ye they are. Cut down on the inefficient staff and you'll be able to reduce your prices. Honor the customers above all esle. read more

This review is for a Sunday lunch with friends here. It was the first time I was at a Pannikin's for something other than coffee and a sweet. The wait to order at the counter was about 25 minutes with the line out the door. I spotted the Indian Chicken Curry on the menu and decided immediately that I'd have it as a sandwich ... seeing croissants in the case sealed the deal. [Full disclosure: I've been a devoté of chicken curry on croissant for almost 50 years.] Well ... this sandwich was awful. Let's start with the croissant. It was flabby and not worth the $2.50 uplift. Then they smothered a dollop of Indian Chicken Curry under lettuce, tomato, onion, mayo, and mustard, with Swiss cheese under the curry (!). We sat outside, which was nice. There's a very small parking lot in the rear, where I found the last available space. Neighborhood street parking is a challenge. read more

There's a good reason there's usually a line streaming out the door all morning. Miraculously, we hit them on a Sunday morning with almost no line at all. The place is delightful in every way. There's a ton of seating outside (none inside) but the decor inside is charming. The building itself is gorgeous and impossible to miss. They've got a great breakfast and lunch menu but their fresh pastries are truly impressive. We tried the Magic Bar (made with oatmeal, peanut butter, chocolate, coconut, etc.) and it was terrific. They've also got scones, muffins and every other type of baked good you could ever want. The coffee is great, too. I went with a standard iced coffee but go for something a little exotic. The iced mocha had a delicious Mexican chocolate flavor to it. Well worth a visit if you've never been. read more

When driving down the road, this place is hard to miss! It's beautifully decked out in bright yellow umbrellas with plenty of inviting patio seating. LOX PLATE [5/5]: This plate was way bigger than I expected. It was filled with lettuce, tomato, onions, pepperocinis, salmon lox, my bagel of choice, an apple cut into a swan, and cream cheese. The total after tax was roughly $10! The bagel was very fresh (I do wish it was toasted though) and easy to assemble. So delicious and made me miss bagel bars! SERVICE [3/5]: Unfortunately they got my friends order wrong and when we told the server, they said that was what was ordered so she ended up with 2 granolas instead of a fruit plate and granola CLEANLINESS [2/5]: Patio seating has a lot of flies. This is our second time coming to this place and I can say pie first experience was better than the second. The first time we ordered the buffalo sandwich (delicious) and the Greek salad (also amazing). This time we ordered the tuna melt (it was okay) and the bagel plate (you assemble your bagel). The chai tea was AMAZING! The coffee wasn't as strong as we were hoping though. There is lots of seating to include indoor and outdoor. It's very spacious and comfortable with pretty views of Encinitas. Four stars because the service wasn't amazing. Both times it took some time to be acknowledged. People skipped the line to pay and it was almost awkward. Lots of staff in the front but still confusion both times. We wanted our food to go and ended up getting served as if we were eating there. Been on my bucket list since high school to visit! Finally did. Cute place and love the seating options. Enjoyed people watching as I worked on my computer. Staff was friendly. When I arrived the line was long but it turned over quick! As for the food, I ordered the "Joey" and a jalapeño bagel. All together came out to $16. A bit pricey imo (even heard a couple of people that have been before remark the price change). It wouldn't be a regular spot for me, but if I had family/friends visiting I would take them at least once! read more

I used to come here when i was in high school and i had not been back in well over 20 years! Crazy that time flies! There was a line but it went pretty quickly! There were breakfast options and good drinks! I had a mocha that was not too sweet (they followed instructions to do half the chocolate). The best part is the seating in the sun and the happy yellow paint! The worst thing about this coffee place is the lack of parking. It is real ! read more

Adorable building with tons of indoor and outdoor seating. They have a small gift shop on the side which has a lot of home/kitchen goods and other knick knacks. There didn't seem to be a set line or ordering system. I waited by the bakery case for several minutes before being acknowledged. The baked goods in the display case really caught my eye. We're talking an assortment of massive pastries. The jalapeno cheddar scone was quite dense and rich. Definitely a good item to share. The lox plate was just okay. I thought the lox was not the freshest and they were skimpy with the cream cheese. There was also a random pile of apples that I didn't care for. read more

I recently had the pleasure of stopping by your establishment in Encinitas, and I must say, it was a delightful experience. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed your house-roasted coffee and Matcha latte, as well as the tasty coffee cake we shared. The variety of homemade pastries and huge selection of beverages and food were also greatly appreciated. The laid-back atmosphere and ample outdoor seating made for a relaxing break, and we were happy to see that there was also indoor seating and restrooms available. Your staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, adding to the overall positive experience. We were also fascinated to learn that Pannikin is housed in a converted railroad station that dates back to 1888! It's always great to see historical buildings repurposed and given new life. One tip we would like to offer is to park in the back lot if available, as street parking can be limited. Overall, we had a wonderful time at Pannikin and would highly recommend it to anyone passing through Encinitas. Thank you for providing such a great spot to grab a drink and a snack while taking a break from the road. We also noticed this is a very popular spot for cyclists to take a break. What a cute coffee & bakery in Encinitas! I know they have multiple locations in San Diego and this location probably is my fav. The building is very impressive which was built in 1888, and it was very well designed. You can enjoy a nice breakfast or lunch at their patio or balcony under sunshine. Their foods are nice too, I had a lox bagel plate and my friend had a chicken sandwich. Both of us enjoyed the meal. I recommend this cute place for sure. read more

Some philistines (such as Daniel P.) may criticize the cappuccino foam, however I see the cappuccino foam here like epic white caps upon which I ride my surfboard of flavor to the kingdom of awakenness. This is a cool place. I read up on before coming and it used to be the old train station in Encinitas. The place is dog friendly, bike friendly, walker friendly, etc. There is plenty of outsider seating and it seemed to have inside seating as well but I think outside is great. The service here is good; everyone was friendly and cheerful. Their version of huevos rancheros was really good. It seemed a healthier version but was still really good. Definitely recommend to come here for even coffee and a bakery good. read more

Pannakin is SUPER cute and clearly a destination while you're in Encinitas, but the food left us longing for more. Super spacious patio, lots of seating inside, great ambiance for a shabby chic coffee - but honestly our food was just, not it. The acai bowl was completely frozen, the eggs were cold, the toast was not toasty, the bacon comes pre chopped, it just didn't suit our brunching needs. Friend got the breakfast sandwich, probably your best bet if hungry! read more

Came here for a get out of the house and have coffee date with my girl and my dad. It was perfect! I love how they physically distance everyone, and it still feels like a coffee shop! They have a plethora of outside seating. Some new some old, all comfortable. We sat upstairs and outside, which was lovely. There is some road noise. Which with my dads hearing, I did not consider. I'd recommend an outdoor seat under the tree for those that are hard of hearing. We ordered a mocha, vanilla latte and an americano. Which were all prepared very well by the young baristas. We also ordered a jam bar, which is a total sugar bomb. I'd recommend eating it, by flaking the icing off. My dad totally loved this place and enjoyed it. I have been known to frequent this spot with my gal pals...ahh if the walls had ears and mouths. (I am glad they don't). Great stop for family, friends, lovers and everyone in between. read more

We were seated immediately when we arrived, but by the time we left there was a small wait, which tells me this is a popular spot with both locals and visitors. I ordered the two-piece French toast with a side of bacon. The portion size was just right, the French toast was delicious, and the bacon was cooked exactly the way I like it--crispy around the edges without being overdone. I have to laugh because I started eating before I remembered to take pictures...haha! So my French toast photo is missing a few bites, but I guess that's a pretty good indication that I couldn't wait to dig in. Reviews exist to help businesses improve and to inform other customers about their experiences. I wasn't trying to be disrespectful; I was sharing what we genuinely experienced. A professional response would have acknowledged the concerns or explained how they planned to address them. Instead, the dismissive reply speaks volumes about how customer feedback is valued here. Based on both our visit and the owner's response, I won't be returning, and I hope they choose to take customer concerns more seriously in the future.

I also tried the lychee beer which was super delicious and did not taste beer-like or alcoholic at all. It was more like a sweet treat to enjoy. This restaurant is tucked away. I remember walking in a little later on a weekday with a friend and the restaurant was completely empty except 3 other people. I hope they get more business (if they haven't already) because their food is great and it was easy to find parking I am looking forward to coming here again and trying new dishes. Every time other than this last time, you are sort of killed with kindness, not that the worker was unpleasant. It is small inside, but there are around 5 tables that you can sit out, I mean most donut places are small and/or have no seating at all. Unique donuts, and I love that the uniqueness is not just adding 50 toppings to make it that way.
