Made a reservation for 6pm. Arrived and waited 20 mins to be seated only to find out that the table they were setting up for us could not have a high chair setup. Why clean off a table for a family of 4 holding a child if you know you can't fit a high chair, and then proceed to tell us we need to wait another 20 mins. We could barely even move anywhere to wait where we weren't on top of people. Attempting to leave the place I even accidentally knocked a beer into someones lap. If there is more than one family waiting for a table you have to sit outside and wait, or on top of another customer eating because there is no room to accommodate multiple families waiting. Stay away from this place if you don't like overcrowded restaurants with no where to stand and even wait for a "reserved" table. read more

Every time I come here I always have excellent food and service. The ambiance here is exactly what a pub bar/restaurant should be like. Tucked away in a quaint strip mall on a NJ county road lies a gem of an eatery called the Panther Pub. We had pierogi and salad for appetizers. The Bibb lettuce salad with a half of avocado, thin onion slices, feta, cherry tomatoes, all drizzled in a fine balsamic reduction, was lovely. But the pierogi were the divine treat, with brown butter, green onion, and bacon. Fantastic, though I did feel the need to hit the confessional booth afterwards. :-) There's a varied drink menu, although we weren't imbibing this evening. We had pub fare for our entree as--shrimp burritos and French dip. The bane of any French dip sandwich is an overly salty au jus, and Panther Pub avoids this danger assiduously. The au jus was perfect: a hint of salt, but always keeping in mind that its main purpose is to wet and soften the sandwich. It was a nice balance of beef to bun, though I did find the cheese a bit of an unexpected surprise. Spicy waffle fries are a nice complement. My husband, when asked about the shrimp burrito, simply looked over at me with an eldritch smile, letting his eyes glaze over to tell me how delicious it was. (He was too busy eating to pull away and give me a mere comment.) We ordered a homemade key lime pie slice for dessert, but took it to go as we were stuffed. So if you find yourself wandering the byways of western NJ and need a place to eat, pull off and enjoy at the Panther Pub. It's worth it. read more

Came here after a hike. Friendly and relaxed vibe. I ordered the soup special which was the cauliflower curry. It was a little too oily but good. I also got the procuitto and manchego sandwich that was on special and it was delicious! Husband ordered the turkey burger and loved it. Safe to say the food is really good here. Happy hour specials start at 4 and includes a dollar off wine, beer, and house mixed drinks. They have some decent craft beers on tap and in bottles which was nice. I gave this place another try. I thought maybe we hit it on a bad day. Was I wrong , I am beginning to think the people that give 4 stars are friends and family of the owners. I ordered calamari and nachos. Omg the calamari was so greasy and no salt or flavoring even old bay would have done the trick , no tentacles either just circles . That's the worst ,make it right or not at all. The nachos were not heated properly the cheese was not melted and they don't layer the toppings so it's all in one spot, the dish wasn't flat which didn't help. We waited a long time to get drink. Wow wow wow! This place simply blew my mind! We stumbled upon this place on our way back from PA and it was truly everything we were looking for. During Covid, they do a good job of keeping you safe and distanced from other tables (plexy glass at the bar). We sat at the bar area which had this great fireplace going and a rustic vibe that was giving me all those wintery holiday feels. Our server/bartender Owen was extremely attentive, enthusiastic and did a great job at setting the vibe for the bar area. We had a couple drinks, French onion soups and I ordered the salmon while my fiancé ordered the Ahi Tuna tacos. Everything was delicious and our entrees extremely satisfying. Conveniently located not too far off Route 80 this is a great Pub with a warm feel and friendly staff. I had a turkey burger which was perfectly seasoned and cooked. They make their own fries which is great. The menu changes so you do not get tired of eating the same stuff. They have outdoor seating available. There is live entertainment. I went there today. I had expected unparalleled quality of food and service based on the yelp reviews. What i received was a mix of decent and... gross. The burger and Caesar salad were lovely. No complaints there. The onion rings were ok.. a little too oily, but passable. The service was nice. I mentioned that my Diet Coke was flat, and they fixed the carbonation. Thanks :) Now, let's talk about the fish tacos... mahi mahi, I believe. Let me preface by stating I know better than to be purchasing a fish taco when not on the water and removed from Mexico by other intervening states not touching Mexico. But.... when the menu boasts 3 seafood taco options, you kind of have to trust that the proprietors of the establishment pride themselves on seafood tacos (tuna, mahi mahi, or shrimp). ... maybe they spent some time on some rigs fishing their own... maybe they worked at a prior place that served fish tacos or shit.... maybe they just watch enough 'deadliest catch' and hgtv to have a 'feel' for some seafood delicatessens. If the flavor in this fish taco is at all representative of the quality of the others, I'll be the sacrificial lamb and try to save you. Don't get the seafood tacos. Being a cali native, but also just a lover of food, this was abhorrent. Let's run through the failures as experienced by my tongue and taste buds (in order of appearance). The taco shell was a soft tortilla 'heated' to become a hard shell. So, moisture goes with that- it departs the shell... no big deal but you have to compensate that somewhere moving forward. There was red cabbage in the mix... ahhh touché - you almost had me there- that's a nice move... but there was too much. Not to mention, cabbage has a drying sensation. This would need to be supplanted with either a white sauce/ hot sauce combo... or the most decadent fish you've ever tasted (some additional cilantro would have been nice, too). Alas, there was too much cabbage to overcome.... but ok. Moving forward... i haven't hit sauce, cheese or fish.... so maybe theyll come together to save this. Boom. Fish. Pause. ... what the fuck did I just eat? The fish was taking the baton from the failing cabbage and tortilla relay duo and needed to come up BIG to save this dish. Needless to say, it was a fish miss. The mahi mahi (I think that's what this was) tasted Ill. Or, I felt ill. Something just did not work. It was salty and tasted .... bad. Like the smell of old fish as opposed to the taste of fresh fish. I was floored. And there was no intervening sauce to mitigate the situation. What the fuck? This, undoubtedly, is the worst food to enter my body in the last 6 months or so (recently i cooked and didn't wash the parsley enough.... i had small rocks in my dish. But, it tasted correct). This was abhorrent. A salty and dry representation of fish tacos. I didn't know what to do. I ate it quickly and we departed. As i left i remember thinking, 'this isnt right. People are going to think fish tacos are gross. They're giving fish tacos a bad name!' The flavor in my mouth was not pleasant. I drank enough Diet Coke to quell an uprising from beneath. I wanted to like this place more. They were kind... but their fish tacos were whack. Hopefully they can address this moving forward. This makes California's job of having 'the best fish tacos' all too easy. read more

Young female bartender, kinda hot, was yapping on & on to local older guy about dogs (I love dogs - but 30 mins of dog talk had me running for the door) 2 zins & a bowl of chili and a bill for $22. hmmm a bit much. considering the price listed on the menu for the wine was less than what I was charged. Just stopped by as I headed through town. Good reviews so I thought why not. Four of us were seated at bar quickly. First drink was delivered fairly quickly. After that anything we needed required flagging someone down even though we were 4 feet from the bar. There were at least 6 people I saw working there. Four spent most of their time sitting at a table off to the side; chatting, eating, looking at their phone. But everyone around us had to ask or get them for attention to get service. I would definitely not go out of my way to come here, but if you're making a pit stop between NYC and the Poconos, I'd definitely recommend it! I don't know ANYTHING about this area, but I do have to say that I was surprised by the prices. That said, the portions are pretty huge and the prices aren't unreasonable by Manhattan standards (what I'm used to) so it was fine for me. I split the drunken clams and the fish & chips with my boyfriend, and it was a ton of food. (I did eat everything, though, because I was starving). Definitely do not attempt to eat the fish & chips on your own - it's humongous. The boyfriend didn't like the flavor that whiskey imparted onto the sausage, but I thought it was creative and interesting. The clams were large and succulent, and I would recommend that appetizer if you're in the mood for them. That said, the double-fried wings and the buffalo chicken stuffed pepper were phenomenal - the fried wings were perfectly crunchy and tender and amazingly flavorful (I was kinda mad that I didn't order them and I had to restrain myself from eating more from my friends' plate), and the buffalo chicken had that perfect level of spice. So so good. It's definitely filled with shredded chicken, so it can double as a meal if you have a smaller appetite. I was ravenous and I loved the fish & chips - can't resist fries and tender, flaky fish encased in batter - but several people at the table were not a fan of the batter. It was admittedly doughier and thicker than usual so it wouldn't be my favorite (Chipshop!!!), but it was different in a fun way. I would definitely still recommend them, but beware that it comes with TWO large pieces of fish. Everyone was totally stuffed by the end of the meal. Living in Panther Valley, the Panther Pub is my go-to lunch/dinner/drink spot. I have pretty high standards when it comes to dining out; but I can confidently say that I've never had an issue with any meal or drink I've ever ordered - both when dining-in and ordering take-out. Their menu can satisfy any palate and they are willing and able to accommodate dietary restrictions. Their bar is always stocked with a GREAT selection of beer (I'm all about a good IPA), and their seasonal mixed drinks are always delicious and well balanced. The staff at Panther Pub is very polite, professional, and friendly. Simply stated, I love the fact that I have this place "in my back yard"! Alexa the receptionist did a great job keeping us up on the status of our seats, Colgan the bartender got us set with drinks despite the kaos of the bar and our waitress Bianca, did an amazing job getting our food out with a smile. It's been hit or miss lately. They switched up the bbq and smoky sticky sauces, so one night I got something spicy, which I didn't expect. The fries are always pretty limp, and I got mashed potatoes that tasted like they were just literally potatoes mashed up. No flavor, not creamy. Just boiled potatoes mashed. Burger buns have been dry as of late. Flavor of some of the entrees not so good. Taking a break for a while in hopes of returning to good food with consistency. From my last experience I knew to keep it simple - ordered the burger. It was fine. Fries still a little limp but better than last time. Service friendly and on time. I did get something green floating near the bottom of my water (lettuce, dill or parsley, not sure). Upgrade to 2 stars maybe if you order the burger and dont mind green stuff in your water. The average is still below 2 stars. Please look at my ratings history - I do not give many 1 star reviews. I do not enjoy giving the lowest review. I've been to Panther Pub lots of times in my life, but recently the service and quality of food has shifted and it is not as good as I remember it being in the past. I like to go there for the live music (I have a few friends that play there on occasion), and the bands they have are generally pretty good. Decently priced drinks. The space by the bar can get a little bit too crowded when there is live music, but I guess that is to be expected. Here's to hoping they will revamp their menu in the near future! read more

Passing the restaurant heading south on this past cold Sunday, he decided to stop and have an early dinner. Arriving at 4:00 we found a round table near the fireplace. The warmth was welcomed. I ordered a Caesar salad with a cheeseburger and beer. While I have had many Caesar salads around the globe, this particular one was the best by far. The lettuce was very crisp, the seasoning was perfect and I believe the atmosphere was enhancing. Also adding to my meal was above the fireplace (we sat three feet away) a large screen television showed the Steelers and Jaguar game...I didn't like the outcome!
