Food here is always great. The service can be pretty terrible unless Ally is working. I only go there in the days that I know she is working, otherwise the waiters just stand around the bar inside and do nothing. I've ordered drinks there and just plain never got them. If you go there, ask if Ally is working, if not, do yourself a favor and go someplace else. Like I said, great food, they just need better servers. Ally is the best! read more

This wasn't my 1st time at the pub but it was my 1st time having something called a warm salad! OMG It was so good! I really love it! The people are so very nice. I usually go by myself but this time I had my friend who also lives in Panther Valley and is also a regular there, try the salad and he loved it also! This was my first visit to Panther Pub after seeing a sign for it on Route 80 year after year. It was a Sunday at noon after running a local race. I took a seat at the small bar. The entire staff was pleasant and helpful. I ordered the Korean BBQ Burrito - Flour Tortilla, Ground Wagyu Beef, Kimchi, Rice, Sesame, Mirin, Cilantro, Wedge Fries. I enjoyed my meal while listening to cable channel music which then turned to football news on the televisions. It was getting busy but with runners from the race. read more

On interstate 80 as a pitstop somewhere between the poconos and NYC lies this little restaurant with 4 star reviews. We were hungry with two little kids and made the pit stop here based on these reviews. Service was fine and they gave us a cup full of crayons and a coloring menu for the kids. But the food. Oh man. My kids wouldn't eat it. And my sister and I had to just force it down to stop the hunger and make it to NYC. Maybe it's what we ordered. We had some shrimp and Farro and the short rib ragu dish. They were both tasteless and bland. Simply unsatisfying. My kids would only eat the dumplings. So I had to order that twice so they wouldn't starve. read more

I'm a Pescatarian who loves shrimp, so any restaurant offering Shrimp Tacos... that's what I'm ordering. Panther Pub/Restaurant's Shrimp Tacos are THE best I've ever had! Nice sized grilled shrimp, layered over a sweet corn tomalito, a perfectly balanced chili sauce and topped w thin-sliced pickled red onions and arugula. Three tacos are plentiful if you're really hungry but enough to take at least one, home. I HIGHLY recommend them. My friend's Pork Carnitas were tasty, but served dry with dry white rice (PP; add some BBQ sauce, or at least have your servers offer it upon delivery to table!) Had to take off one star for the very, slow service. I mean, I know Saturdays are busy, but 45 minutes to get an appy (which came before we had silverware/napkins. Drinks took forever as well. We dropped a hundo, so good food is one thing, but service is just as important! New to the neighborhood so would like to come back... PLEASE IMPROVE YOUR SERVICE! read more

I've been in the Allamuchy/Hackettstown area alot lately so my gf and I stopped in for a drink and few apps at Panther Pub, she ordered the wings and I ordered Nachos. After we each had a Sangria the wings came no nachos. We split the wings ordered another Sangria for each still no nachos. I asked for the check and the bar tender says oh the nachos are on there way would you like them to go. I reluctantly said yes even though I don't like nachos to go. After sitting for 5 more minutes and not wanting another drink. I said F _ _ K the nachos paid the tab including for the nachos left a 20% tip and left. Need less to say I will never go back. I don't argue with restaurants I just don't go back. The is the first negative review I've ever written. read more

Food is always very good and bound above what would be coined as "pub food" (aka, salty everything). Favorites: Cavatappi (Mac) & Cheese made with Gouda goodness and baked with Panko, Giant Pretzel (defeated with friends), Pierogies (that make my Polish family happy), Rigatoni Bolognese (that is Italian yum for my Italian partner), and vegetarian fixes (soups, salads, and Mediterranean snack stuff). Adam accommodates any request we have. Erica, Alexa, John behind the bar always offer friendly conversation, to Carson and Nick serving and Megan, Sarah and Serg. Sorry for the other employees I forgot! We love you all! Everyone there treats us like family! The food is always top notch, their salads are plentiful and never disappoint. My daughter loves the flatbreads, the boys (me too) love the wings as an appy or main course! Calamari, guac, tacos or burritos....the list goes on. We've had every item on the menu, we love it all and can't recommend The Panther Pub enough. From friendly service and atmosphere to the variety of selection on the menu, they have a meal for any palette and everything is always prepared and presented to perfection! If we are looking to cut loose and have a burger with fries, the adult happy meal is always a fun splurge meal, or if I want to behave: any salad with chicken, salmon, skirt steak (my fav salad addition) or shrimp. Also, a fish taco, or eggplant burrata appy is another favorite! They offer daily selections too, and drink specials. Ohh, can't forget the live music. This place is such a great find. We stumbled upon it after a trip to Camelback from NYC. And went back after a hike in the Delaware Water Gap. First: it's super easy to get from the highway; and since it's in a small mall there's plenty of easy parking right in front of the pub. Secondly: it's a friendly, neighborhood pub. Lots of people were obviously regulars, and knew each other and the staff. Thirdly: some nights they have live music in the bar area - which I always enjoy. We only drank/ate in the bar area. The staff there are super friendly and professional. You're greeted and served within a few moments; even when the place is busy. They have a great selection of wine and liquor: I got some excellent Manhattans and Gin Martinis - made with above average liquor! The bartenders know what they're doing! The food was well-made, well-presented, and tasty. They even had my beloved Sriracha sauce to kick it up a notch. A great find for us. Much better option than the generic chains or typical highway food. read more

This place does one thing really well: decor. The dining room and bar are really cool looking. It has a sleek, modern look that would be a good example of how to style a bar/restaurant. Unfortunately, the service and food do not measure up to the atmosphere. Especially the service. I've been there probably two dozen times or more, and at different times of day (and with one or two exceptions) the bar/wait staff do not exhibit ANY urgency or desire to serve the customers. They sit at the bar, gab and chat with other customers or each other while glasses sit empty. We once sat at the bar for 15 minutes with no menus and watched the bartender waltz outside to talk with someone, leaving the bar totally unattended. On another occasion, our waitress evidently went off duty without telling us and we sat and sat waiting for our bill. We finally went to her as she sat at the bar having a drink and asked for our bill. She told us she was 'off duty.' Uh, ok . . . They're nice people, but there is no leadership or sense of professionalism. The food is ok. It was better when they first opened. The burger is pretty good, and we've gotten some good specials there. It's inconsistent, though. We continue to go there because it's convenient for a few drinks or a low-key lunch. But, the service needs improving if they want to remain busy. read more

Here's the deal... Stopped in on a whim after a road trip! Checked it out on YELP and decided to check it out! I must say I liked the place very much! I liked the outdoor patio area (although couldn't get a table). We managed to quickly get seated inside (which is also a nice pub/restaurant area. Our server was polite and attentive! We have a few picky eaters and he was careful to make sure all orders were correct! App's were Calamiri (very good); The "double fried" wings (very good); the Guacamole w/ chips (ahh-I've had better)..but 2 outta 3 ain't bad! The entree were very good. The table had a variations of burgers or ribs.. and it all was very good! I would definitely revisit when in the area! Good pub! read more

Met friends for dinner last night- service is excellent and everyone from the hostess to the servers are very sweet and accommodating. The ambiance is pleasant and cozy, with an old time "pub feel" yet bright and welcoming for all ages. The fried calamari with accompanying lime aioli sauce was delicious- calamari was perfectly "crisped" and the tangy sauce was incredible. I ordered the Angus Pub Burger medium rare; however, when it was brought to the table, it was not very hot and was actually prepared almost well done and dry. It was disappointing because everything else was very good. I would definitely return since my overall experience was positive but the burger was such a let down and I really saved appetite so I could enjoy a nice meal after work. Worth another shot, so I'm hopeful for my next visit. read more

Unfortunately, I must have caught this place on the wrong day. I can't believe it could be in business for long with four star average if my experience was typical. I went there for lunch with a party of 8 after the Shades of Death Half Marathon a mile away. The pub was listed as a place to go after, so presumably MANAGEMENT knew there would be an increase in customers for the day, but unfortunately at 12pm, there was one bartender and one waitress. We sat outside, and waited 1/2 hour for someone to come and take our drink order and give us menus. Some of the party just went in to the bar and got their drinks quicker. Our first waitress Brianna FINALLY begrudgingly came to our table, took an order for two drinks, and we had to ask for menus. Another 35 minutes later, still no drinks and all the tables around us were getting food and drinks. My husband went into the bar, was told, "the tap kicked" and that it would be better if we just ordered drinks and food from the bar...No apology or anything. HOW do you treat your customers like this? I wouldn't have stayed but the people in my party wanted to, because we were starving and had a long drive home and didn't know where else to go. Finally a waitress named Jessica was called in, she took care of us, and all was well. I had yellowfin tuna tacos, which were tasty, but not 15 dollars worth. Everyone else seemed to like their food. Funny thing is, they didn't even comp us 1 drink for waiting over an hour and being ignored. Hope this place gets their act together. read more

First, the positive: Great atmosphere! Next the unfortunate truth.. maybe it was the Sunday cook, I don't know, but it wasn't good. 1) Shepherds Pie ($17): A bowl of mediocre seasoned meat, peas, and slightly raw carrots (raw carrots??) topped with a couple of scoops of mediocre mashed potatoes. $17. Unbelievable. 2) Service completely forgot our appetizer of garlic shrimp. Said "never mind then" when the main meal came. Is management training these people well? 3) Burger w/fries: Medium-rare burger cooked medium well with mediocre ground meat that has tiny bones in it. Perhaps it just tasted mediocre because the cook burnt it... I would have sent it back but my wife wanted to keep it anyhow. Oh yeah.. fries: Meh. So, if I wanted mediocre meals, I would have gone to the diner at half the cost. Panther Valley Pub used to be real good.. Get your act together before it's too late!! read more

Was home for the night in Hackettstown, and was looking for more of a lounge atmosphere than a bar atmosphere, somewhere you could actually hear conversation rather than scream a word or two. Panther Pub was recommended. While this is far from a lounge-style bar, I was pretty impressed. It was quieter (for a Saturday night). This place has two sections to it - a bar area with some high-tops and a couple tables then the actual restaurant side. The restaurant was closed, but the bar was open with a limited menu. I tried a couple of their signature drinks, rather than a simple beer or mixed drink. Both were excellent. I had a drink with Tito's Vodka, Ginger Beer, and lime juice - was excellent. I also tried their Manhattan - one of the best I've had. Price was up there. $9/each cocktail. 5 mozz. sticks were $8 and a hot pretzel with two dipping sauces was $6. Neither was more than just plain old "good." Not good enough to charge that much! I'd recommend this place to those with a little extra money to spend, looking for a good spot for a drink or two for casual conversation. I'd go back. read more

I've been here a few times now, and have not had one thing to complain about. The last time was this past Saturday. Arrived around 7:30. It was a little busy, about a 10 minute wait for 4 of us so we grabbed some drinks at the bar. I had something called Carton, not sure if that was the brand or what but it was good. Ended up having a few more that night. Seated, our server was Allison. She was really nice. We ended up getting 5 appetizers, one after the other, and she was really cool about it. We didn't feel rushed or anything. Started with the nachos. They were tasty, but the toppings were sparse for the amount of chips. Then we had the buffalo chicken stuffed poblano pepper. That didn't last long. Everyone really liked it. It was a bit creamy to me but the pepper was so good it wasn't an issue. Next, the boneless habanero wings. These were very spicy and very good. Finished them right off. Lastly, we ordered some empenadas and pierogis. Only 4 pierogis to an order, which is a shame, because they were great. I think the empenadas were liked the least but that's not to say they weren't good. It's just that we weren't as blown away by them as the other items. For 5 apps and numerous drinks the tab was surprisingly low. We closed up and headed to the bar to catch up with some friends. We ended up being the last folks in the bar after a while, and the folks working weren't rushing us at all. It was a really nice night, can't wait to go back. read more

Went here over the weekend for lunch, and we sat at the bar. My boyfriend thought it was an ok beer selection but there were only a few on tap (prefers tap to bottle). I believe they only had 6 on tap - I got a drink special, a peach sparkler which was good but very strong. The place itself has a cool vibe, loved walking through the "dungeon door" to enter and it reminded me of the England pub in Disney. We got the pretzel appetizer - delicious!!! I could have eaten 5 of them, delicious jalapeño cream sauce and spicy money mustard. I got the sausage and black olive flatbread which I enjoyed but wish the sausage was diced more, maybe some fresh basil on top would have been a nice contrast to the spicy sausage. My boyfriend got the corned beef Reuben and he said it was one of the best sandwiches he has ever had. All in all, a great place! read more

I love the Panther Pub! My favorite thing there is the buffalo chicken stuffed pablano pepper....OMG!! I would have never thought to put those things together and cook it up, but I'm glad somebody did because it's soooo good! My husband raves about the cheeseburgers. I love the comfortable atmosphere inside and on the patio. We've been there a couple of times on our date night and also took our friends there when they came up to visit. I've stopped about 5 or 6 times now at the Panther Pub. On the night of this review, I had the wings (hot) and an IPA they had on tap. Being from Buffalo, I can say the wings were not Buffalo wings... But they also were not advertised as such. But they were very spicy, with light breading, made with fresh chicken and cooked to perfection. I can be a wing snob and again will say they are not a Buffalo wing, but a very nice wing nonetheless that I will order again. The menu here is not huge (which I prefer) yet offers an excellent variety from sandwiches to seafood to steak. There also are also constantly changing specials. The beer selection is diverse too and the tapped beers rotate as well. An excellent Ithaca IPA called Flower Power was on tap on my last visit and a Victory Ale was to be be tapped next (I was told). So far, everything I have ordered has been freshly prepared and cooked. The service has been above average. Fresh cut fries and lightly breaded fish and chips, homemade empanadas appetizer, cilantro grilled chicken wrap lunch special, chicken soft tacos app, cheese platter (only needs bread added), black bean chili, and even tried a couple desserts: all excellent, and so much more to try. I really love the place so far. The slightly high prices are worth it so far. Amazing how prices start to matter less when you are served a high quality, fresh meal. Great atmosphere. Excellent food. Keep it up Panther Pub. Keep paying attention to the details and keep looking for continuous improvement. read more

New to the area and decided to stop in the panther pub for lunch. We ordered pierogis for an appetizer and the were sautéed with bacon and butter and leeks. They were definitely homemade and were awesome. I also ordered the pub burger with cheese and bacon and my daughter ordered the small Caesar salad. The burger came out perfectly prepared to medium and served with hand cut fries. The Caesar salad I am still thinking about the next day. The croutons were amazing and the dressing amount was perfect. So happy to be living near a hidden gem like this. Can't wait for our next visit. read more

I've wanted to try this pub for awhile. First impressions, small bar that's packed on a Monday, there's a dining room in the back (we didn't realize that) & outdoor seating - the place is rocking with locals. We sat at a table in the bar area. Ordered draft beers as it's that kind of place and looked at the menu. So first the food and drink. The beer was very good, craft, cold and served in chilled glasses. We ordered burgers. My husband the hog burger and I got the house special blend burger. I thought the pork hog burger was too pink but my husband ate it all and declared it delicious. Mine was medium (ordered rare). But delicious. Juicy, meaty and a good combination of burger, brioche, cheese and bacon. The issue is with the service. The server seemed perturbed when she came over. She never returned and we waited and waited. We tried eye contact. But to no avail. My husband had to go up to the bar to get us drinks. He waited awhile there while she chatted away. He'll get part of the tip. read more

Had a 50th birthday party for 25 people here and it was AMAZING from beginning to end. Food was superb! Everyone in our party was very pleased and satisfied. Service was exceptional. Quick, attentive and always there to take care of every need. We even had a member of out party with a life-threatening dairy allergy, which the owner and the chef addressed with careful concern, and prepared a special meal to ensure he was safe and had a delicious meal as well. I've been going to the Panther Pub with coworkers for a few years and it's by far the best place in the area for a good drink and quality food. The beer taps rotate regularly and there is always an interesting selection of craft beers. Stella, Lisa, and the whole staff make everyone feel like they're part of the neighborhood.
