Had family visiting and considering the bitterly cold weather, I was feeling in the mood for some…read moreItalian comfort food. I happen to live close by, and it has been on my list for a while. Extremely glad I made the short trip. Tortello has a casual feel: you order up front before you are seated. I ordered the cacio e pepe, plus foccacia with honey and ricotta as an appetizer. The latter was an excellent combination of flavors and textures, the savory and crunchiness of the bread with the soft creaminess and (not overwhelming) sweetness of the cheese and honey. The cacio e pepe had a high bar to clear as a result, but did so handsomely. The pasta had a pleasant bite, and the pepper and cheese were excellent. In short, a great experience. I look forward to coming here when it isn't 5 degrees outside!

Then they give you a number & you choose your seats. They bring the food out to you. We chose the covered patio. It was very cute. Every time I've been here, the owner is there. Not particularly friendly & a little condescending. I'm not sure if it's because he's Italian & that's just his way. But at this visit, after I ordered, he expressed, "wow, that's all you are ordering? Are you sure? Ok." Last time I was there we ordered online & when I arrived it took another 35 minutes for my food to be ready. No apologies, just said something about good food taking a long time. We ordered the fennel, celery & orange salad. $12. It was more than enough for two people. Delicious. It was mostly celery though. Very few orange pieces. Also tried the tortelli for $25. It had burrata, butter, sage, & hazelnuts. There were 4 tortellis. They were good. Nothing amazing. I would have liked a like more to the dish. More sage or roasted hazelnuts. Maybe 6 or so for the price. Also, they charge $1 for water. We didn't order bread or wine this time since it was just lunch. Next time I'll try a different pasta & maybe dessert.

Housemade Bread $8.00 Brassica Caesar Salad $20.00…read moreCaramelized Onion Tortellini $29.00 We devoured the focaccia bread. Bread was super fresh and steaming hot. Salad was enough for 4 - 6 people. Me and my partner had plenty of leftovers. So many ingredients almost too many to list. The ingredients that stood out were the Asparagus, mushrooms, and broccolini. Ingredients were hot and delicious. We split the Carmelized Onion Tortellini. It was magical. Great buttery taste and the Carmelized Onions oozed out of the tortellini when I cut into it with the fork. We were stuffed when we left and had enough leftovers to eat for dinner the next day. Cannot wait to go back....

We came at lunch time & got right in. Ordered the focaccia bread. It came with olive oil & marina sauce. So amazing. Also shared the kale Ceasar salad. It was huge! Enough for 4-6. It had a lot of ingredients. Roasted asparagus, broccolini, shaved Brussels sprouts, mushrooms. It was delicious, but I would have preferred a lighter summer salad. It was hearty & warm. I'd get it again in the fall. We shared the caramelized onion tortellini. It was huge too. Amazing prices for the amount of food. It was so delicious. The onions were sweet & the pasta was perfect & fresh. Lots of leftovers to take home. Cute ambiance, friendly service. Loved that we could watch the chefs prepare the food too. Can't wait to come back for more pasta & try dessert.

First time trying Berto's today after hearing good things about their sandwiches…read more I placed an Uber Eats pickup order around 11:40 AM, and the app notified me around 11:50 that the order was ready. I arrived around noon. The place wasn't busy from a customer standpoint. There was no line, a few people eating, and four employees behind the counter preparing food. I could already see a bag with my name on it sitting behind the counter, but after standing there for a couple minutes, nobody acknowledged me. Eventually someone came over, but there was no greeting, smile, or "Can I help you?" I gave my name, he put the bag on the counter, slid it aside, and walked away without saying anything. As I started leaving, another employee called out that the order actually wasn't ready yet, despite the app saying it was. She added another sandwich to the bag, tied it up, and handed it back to me. Again with no thank you, apology, or even basic friendliness. The sandwiches were decent, but not so amazing that the customer experience doesn't matter. I'm seeing this kind of indifferent attitude at more and more restaurants lately, and it really affects whether I come back. A little acknowledgment and courtesy goes a long way.
