Nothing but edibly excellent experiences here. I'm tellin' ya. Every dish we've had so far-- and we've partaken around half a dozen times already-- is quite simply, about as good as it gets for an over-the-counter experience. First enlightened by the meatball sandwich. I called in one night while I was watching a ball game, and my wife was out. I ran over and walked in, the sandwich was ready, and it was handed to me on the counter. I must admit, I looked down and saw this compact square aluminum package... My first thought was, oh no, what the heck is this? A small square meatball sandwich!? Ugh! Typical half-assed fare in this day and age. And I'm afraid I frowned at the modern age inflated price a little bit too. And then I ran home. Took the sandwich upstairs to where I was watching the game and unpacked it. And MAMA MIA!!! I took a few bites and it was quite simply maybe one of the greatest meatball sandwiches I ever set mouth on! And this is coming from a guy born and raised in Chicago, where such sandwiches are golden. I don't wanna insult Papa Razzi's unbelievable performance by lamely trying to describe this. But I gotta say a couple things. The vehicle for the sandwich was their own homemade calzone (unbelievable how good that was) (which also explains the little square packaging), 100% grass fed beef, parmigiana, red sauce... and an indescribable, PERFECT taste! The square packaging was deceiving, because of the homemade calzone. Midwestern knucklehead that I am, I'm used to seeing some lengthy sandwich with some haphazard meatballs stuffed into it. But this was a work of art. Visually and taste wise. We have also eaten a number of their pizzas. I am a big fan of their cheese pizzas just for their elegant perfection. But a few nights ago, we had their Pizza Funghi. And I am telling you right now, if you are a fan of mushrooms, this might be the greatest pizza you have ever dove into. I am afraid this Boomer is always going to complain about prices these days. I just don't know how kids can afford things anymore. It makes me very sad. I can afford it, but it's still gonna make me grumpy. I'm afraid I'm gonna have to keep pushing back on this issue for as long as anyone will listen to me. I know we live in an inflationary world right now, and I know post Covid, we are dealing with some greednomics. And something must absolutely give. Because a kid doling out 50 bucks for the same meal that would've cost us 20 bucks 10 years ago is also hard to swallow. And I know restaurants are under great pressure because they are getting hit from all ends too... leases, food vendors, labor, insurance... you name it. But we all need to keep pushing back on this. This is simply not sustainable. 'Nuff said. What IS sustainable? Priceless food like this!! Please please please keep up the fantastic work, Papa Razzi's. The pizza is pretty good. We just got cheese pizza. Being from NJ/NY my pizza standards are pretty high. This pizza was good but not "NY good." The prices bring it down one more star. $77 for 2 cheese pizzas. Wow. At this point you're paying for the location. Outrageous pricing. I realize everything is more expensive right now with an insane leader and tariffs etc but this is next-level inflation. Probably won't be back. read more

Came here with some girlfriends after shopping at a few boutiques in the plaza for a quick slice. I lived in NYC for quite a few years so my standards for pizza are pretty high, but this place was hyped up by several acquaintances so I decided to give it a try. Without a doubt, it's good pizza. The crust is great bordering on excellent. I had the fig jam, ricotta, and bacon slice and found the toppings to be decent but I barely tasted any bacon. There is seating outside at some very simple tables but the shop itself is just a counter at which to order. In addition to pizza, they sell various Italian sundries, loaves of bread, and they have a limited menu of salads and sandwiches. When I was there, they only had 3 pizzas available for slices as they were sold out of a few. Probably would be 4 stars based on the taste of the pizza, but it's just so expensive that I'm giving 3 to reflect the cost-to-quality ratio. Whole pies start at $35 for cheese and go up to $50. Sandwiches hover around $20 and loaves of bread are a staggering $16. Based on price alone I probably wouldn't rush back. Service was fine, nothing to write home about. Overall it's good pizza if you can ignore the exorbitant prices. read more

WOW. I've heard good things about Papa Razzi's around town and finally decided to give it a try -- and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The crust is perfect: thin, soft, and still has that ideal crunch. The sauce is beautifully balanced with the cheese, not overpowering and not bland. Hands down, this is the best pizza I've had in Malibu, and I'd easily add Westlake, Agoura, and Thousand Oaks to that list too. Important to note: this is takeout only, and pretty pricy, but trust me -- it's 100% worth it. If you're even remotely serious about good pizza, Papa Razzi's is a must. read more

WORST SANDWICHES EVER! I haven't had a sandwich this ridiculously low quality in years. Was going to go next door for happy hour but wanted something quicker seeing as though I had no time. So, I ordered an Italian to go. Would have loved a warning about what I was about to pay $22 for plus a tip for I don't know what, $25 in total. Some serious hashtag Malibu BS. I get home, open up the bag and it's not a calzone, it's served on an undercooked piece of pizza dough! 5 pieces of salami, artichoke hearts and some arugula. Seriously take this garbage off your menu and stop gouging people for what is the equivalent of pizza toppings inside some gross undercooked dough. I was in Malibu with my girlfriend and I saw this large pizza sign and I wanted a slice and when I step foot in there, it was pretty small and the workers gave me weird looks because of the jeans I was wearing, they don't accept cash, and the place smelt like seasoning. I ordered 1 slice of the jalapeño pizza and walked back to my car and when I put that slice in my mouth I fell in love it was genuinely the most delicious pizza I've had in awhile the top was so juicy and the bottom was hot and crispy, I went back for 2 more sliced and they gave me a free ice cream. I got a normal pepperoni slice, and to be quite honest it was nothing special, a bit overpriced, but just your average run-of-the-mill slice of thin crust, East Coast style pizza. I didn't mean for it to happen. I'd been a fan of D'amore's Pizza in the Pavillion's shopping center in Malibu for as long as I can remember. I was puzzled, bereft, and heartbroken when they left me without so much as a goodbye - taking their wonderful slices with them. Then Papa Razzi's Pizza showed up in the old D'amore's storefront with an updated and sparkling interior space, smooth come-hither subway tiles, and provocatively staged Italian canned goods and sundries. I was hooked immediately. It's like in high school when my unspoken love for the head cheerleader that I faced at every football game was overshadowed by the arrival of an elegant French exchange student named "Flora" who smoked cigarettes, read thick philosophy books, and had absolutely no interest in football. Flora was the unrequited love of my life, but it was the early eighties and she had no concept of how very popular Run DMC was at the time. Consequently, my red tracksuit with matching red bucket hat and red sneakers led her to believe that maybe "I didn't cut my own meat." That's apparently a French expression, and I'm still not entirely sure what it means. Also, the one time that I got Flora and her friends to attend a pool party at my house they were greeted by my Uncle Derek who had just dropped acid and was arguing with the ficus plant in our foyer again. Soon thereafter Flora declined my invitation to the senior prom. I'll never forgive my Uncle Derek. Or Run DMC. Papa Razzi's Pizza is more than just superficial good looks. Their crown jewel is the wonderful glass case full of authentic, varied, and delicious pizza pies with interesting selections that I've never seen in any other pizza parlor. The mushroom is my favorite. It's the best pizza in the area and probably as close to authentic as you can get in Malibu. Thank you Papa Razzi's Pizza! Five stars. read more

Lily's, Gravina, La Nena...all terrible, truly couldn't be worse..but wow. This place is great. Pizza in LA is generally mediocre but this is better than Two Doughs. The menu is creative, but simple. The slice holds together impeccably, not mudsliding off as soon as you pick it up..it's really really good. It may be a little expensive, the service may be a little slow but in Malibu, that's a small price to pay. We need to make sure this place stays above 4.5 stars at least because it's all we got. I will literally go on a personal quest to make sure this place succeeds if it kills me. 5 stars!
