I normally LOVE this place & their food. But, I'm super frustrated tonight because we checked their hours online & it clearly states that they close at 8:00. We were finally off work and excited to dine in since COVID, but we couldn't get there before 7:30. We walk in, asked if we can be helped, then to be told we could only order carry out because dining in ends at 7:30. PLEASE explain the sense of this. Clearly the kitchen is still working, you can sanitize after we leave, AND you say you are open until 8. Nothing says you close 30 minute early. read more

I don't usually give 5 stars, as most places could use a little improvement somewhere, but this place just has good quality food. I do find it ODD they don't serve any pasta dishes, but EVERYTHING I have eaten from here has been worth the cost (and they are pricey). The house Salad alone is worth the trip. Solid pizza place. I saw the buffalo chicken cheese bread got a lot of play in the photos, but it was kind of underwhelming. Not so much buffalo sauce, although they didn't skimp on the chicken. Just got takeout here for lunch. Got the toasted ravioli and buffalo chicken breadsticks. Both were very good. Ravioli nice and crispy, even when I got back "home" (ie the hospital). Breadsticks were extremely filling -- probably enough for two people, as my wife and I couldn't finish them. Would've been nice had they given us plates and utensils, so I'm subtracting a star. read more

I cannot say enough about Vito's. Cool atmosphere (they always do a great job decorating around the various holidays), friendly staff, and the pizza is the BEST EVER- period. Every single person I've turned on to this place has become an instant fan. Salad is over the top. Garlic bread is delicious. Heck, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Love this restaurant. My favorite for salads, sandwiches and for pizzas. Salads are huge so we always share one and even then, there's sometimes leftovers. Very delicious! We absolutely loved the wings! This is our new go to place for wings. The pizza, cheese bread and house salad were all on point! The dressing is on the sweet side so be careful to not add to much. The pizza had just the right amount of toppings and it was very filling. Staff was quick and responsive. Horrible customer service, high prices and unclear online ordering! I just spent $50 on a pickup order and received a salad that had to be made after I got there, plus a 16-inch pizza that was wrong. Let this sink in: I spent $50.00. For one pizza and one salad. It was wrong and it was late. They refused to remake or refund it. Take that in mind before you order from this place! I would give this restaurant a much higher rating (the pizza is very good )... But every time I eat there , they find a way to nickel and dime me. Any special request has cost me an extra buck (eg my wife is a vegetarian so we share a salad but ask for the bacon on the side , extra buck) ( didn't give enough dressing for salad, ask for more l, extra buck) They also don't put a lot of pizza sauce on their pizza (it is good sauce) so next time we asked them to go heavy on the sauce, extra buck Belleville doesn't have too many good options for pizza so we will keep going here, but just is frustrating to get charged extra for everything read more

If you told me they charge 59 cents to use the bathroom I wouldn't be surprised...if you haven't been here before give it a try, but know that just about any request comes with a 59 cent charge. Chicken wings task like whatever no name frozen brand from the grocery store backed and fried in dirty oil.. Want more than one sauce it's 59 CENTS. Meat pizza has potential but lacks seasoning. Ask for hot sauce it's 59 CENTS. Salads are big and pretty well put together, but again if you need more dressing it'll cost you 59 CENTS! Not sure if the owner thinks this awkward policy is cute in some way, but it's better to just mark up your product so you don't have to interrupt what should be a relaxed dining experience. read more

In Belleville for a youth football combine with 6 very hungry 11 year olds and Dads and came upon Papa Vito's through Yelp. Great little place just off of downtown. Very friendly and attentive staff made appropriate menu recommendations which did not steer us wrong. Appetizers were terrific, the best being the garlic cheese bread and pizza bread. We opted for pizzas for the table, among which was the Monster---quite possibly one of the best pizzas I've had. The combination of the light flaky crust with their sweet sauce balanced the incredible amount of cheese and MEATS perfectly. The beer list was ample with an emphasis on local brews and we almost went that route but couldn't resist STAG on draft, which came in chilled STAG mugs-the perfect anecdote to a table full of rowdy 11 year old boys! Highly recommend and will be looking for excuse to get back. read more

I had dinner at Papa Vito's a couple of weeks ago when I was in town visiting my parents. We were quickly seated (Sunday evening) in the large dining room. The tables were far enough apart to feel you had your own private space, but there was also a ton of seating. Atmosphere was very "pizza house" and my mom even shared how when she was a little girl, she attended a charm school held upstairs on the second floor of the building. We ordered the Sunday special which was a house salad (huge!) with house dressing, bread sticks, and a large pizza. We also ordered the mozzarella cheese bread. The salad was SCRUMPTIOUS. It was topped with pepperoni, mushrooms, bacon, onions, cheese, and really great croutons. The bread sticks were warm and fresh. The mozzarella cheese bread ... TO DIE FOR. So thick, nicely toasted, and covered in cheese. The sauce for dipping was ok, but honestly for me, very very overly sweet. The pizza itself was not thrilling. I thought the crust was a bit tasteless but the toppings were plentiful and tasty. I'd be back for that salad and the cheese bread for sure! Took the family here after another happy-fun visit to Mommy's doctor for some much-needed post-appointment recovery. And, after having been here a couple of times before, I decided to *finally* write a review of this place (Yay, free time!) Located in a renovated, historical building, Papa Vito's doesn't lack for character on the inside. The layout is a bit confusing a first since it feels like a labyrinth as you weave and wind your way to your table from the front reception area. And, the reproduction Italian advertisements got my 4-year-old son's attention ("Is that a cheese they're looking at?", he asked at one point). The interior space could use some updating, but the food definitely takes your attention away from the surroundings. As this was the first time we ever had their Rick's Wings, I have to say that I was very pleasantly surprised! Baked and then lovingly fried, the crispiness of their exteriors is matched just right with their tender and juicy interiors. (Just like me, only edible!) Absolutely a must-try as an appetizer or as a meal. We got a 14 inch "monster" pizza on their default thin crust. Fresh, crisp dough complemented the fresh toppings and a slightly sweet sauce. Loved it! The portions for entrees, appetizers, and even salads are gargantuan and will challenge your intestinal fortitude. If you're an average-sized human, you'll likely be coming home with leftovers. Unless you hate your own stomach and dare to stuff yourself like a turkey, taking some home would be considered generally a good move on your part. read more

Holy history. On the back of their menu they talk about The Papa Vito, the history of the company as well as the history of the eerie Downtown Belleville building itself. Papa Vito immigrated to the United States in 1913 - similar to my grandfather who had come through Ellis Island around that same time. When you first walk in there, in their waiting area, there calls are full of immigration documents, advertisements and old-school photos. Considering we were a party of about 15, I figured we would have to wait a bit before we got seated. I was pleasantly surprised to know they had already had our tables set up - in their side private room. We quickly were seated and attended to by Brittney. The table for our party was huge. I'm talking, HUGE. We had enough room where we could still be close enough but not feel like we were sitting on top of each others laps or bang elbows while we we're eating. We all started with their garden salad. Their salad was full of lettuce, mushrooms, peppers, onions, tomato, pepperoni, bacon bits and croutons. And yes, garden does have meat! So delicious with their sweet Italian dressing (speaking of, I wish I purchased a bottle prior to leaving the place). We then ordered 4 xtra-larges pies - BBQ Lovers, The Monster, Buffalo Chicken and Cheese. And just to have an idea as to how large this table was - all four pies, with three large salads in the middle of this table, we still had a ton of room left for probably 3 more pies. Their tables and chairs were also not cheap or cheesy either - hard, dark, sturdy wood for sure. Their whole restaurant was also decorated accordingly for Halloween - to even include their bathrooms. Their little details, including the history of their building made me even more creeped out. For the 15 of us I believe in total it came out to being less than $200. We've dined here as a family on several occasions and I felt I should write a review because they are just as delicious now, as they were when they opened. We last ate here on 10/1/2015. Brook was our server and she was polite. She checked back in frequently, without being intrusive. We had the garden salad with their house dressing, which is sweet, the veggie pizza and the cheese pizza. A far as pizzas go, their cheese is what sets them apart. It is thick and mild, but not overwhelming. It's thin crust, but not floppy. We always finish with the gelato flight, which is a treat and the kids are impressed with the presentation of it. This is a perfect family restaurant. It's clean, they seat families with children away from adults dining on their own and they always decorate for the holidays. The downtown Belleville location is in a very neat older building and they take advantage of that character. They do have a giant tv, but the sound isn't on, so it's not distracting. All in all, I can see why my children want to go there again and again and it's nice that we (parents) enjoy it too. read more

I will say that I prefer the downtown Belleville location over the west end Belleville location, but that is mostly because of the beautiful building the downtown location is in. My coworker and I consider Papa Vito's one of our standby lunching places for when we go out to lunch. I have not ordered anything here that I didn't like! The Roast Beef sandwich is to DIE for, and their pizzas are fantastic! Also, they have a nice variety of salads, which are HUGE! They are usually not too crowded at lunch time, and as such the service sometimes seems a little slow compared to how busy they look - which is the only reason they didn't get 5 stars from me. Make Papa Vito's a regular lunch place for yourself if you're a Bellevillian, and if you're not, then at least stop by and check it out! read more

Love this place. Over the last year we've been probably 4 or 5 times. So far we've tried the toasted ravioli, ok, Rick's Preferred wings we love them, Vito's garden and Chef salads, HUGE and delicious. Papa's deluxe pizza. very good, the Philly Cheesesteak HUGE and pretty good and the French Dip Roast beef, and HUGE and pretty good. We got two leftover meals out of the sandwiches. The servers have been awesome, they have a good selection of beers and they offer wine as well. The property itself could use some improvement and the men's bathroom to more like something you'd find on an airplane. Free but limited parking in front of the build, but plenty of free parking right across the street. Bottom line if you want great food in a casual atmosphere served by a great staff this is a great place to go for couples and family. read more

I've been here quite a few times. Their garden salad is always excellent, and HUGE! I like their pizza well enough, even though I don't normally prefer a thin crust. It's better than Imo's because it's made with real mozzarella cheese instead of provel. The only thing I dislike is the fact that they are a little too generous with their toppings. The crust is so thin that the weight of the toppings is too much and it almost always slides off leaving you to eat it with a knife and fork. The veggie pizza is my favorite because its toppings seem to slide off the least. I've never had anything here but salad and pizza, so I can't comment on much else here. On a side note, I will say that this restaurant has an extremely high frequency of (forgive me) dumb waitresses. Every time I've gone here the server has been a complete ditz. They've all been friendly, but having someone who seems not "all there" has caused some order confusion in the past. They should definitely have a better training program. read more

Amazing! We had the buffalo chicken cheese bread for an appetizer. Wow that was to die for. Super fresh bread, mildly hot buffalo chicken and lots of cheese. So good. We then shared an order of the baked and fried wings and they were also extremely good. Nice subtle heat to them and crispy to perfection. Large servings enough for plenty to share. And we enjoyed a buffalo chicken pizza. Loved the thin crust on the pizza. Nice difference to the thick cheese bread.
