Not your typical Mexican restaurant, trying to be a little on the gourmet gringo side but in a good way. Food seams to be decent quality and well prepared and presented. Staff is nice. Great atmosphere very chill like being on a island beach hut and good music. Salsa bar could be better with a few more choices and the 2 they had were all that great, pretty bland. Although their house mad habanero salsa which is not in the bar is quite good. I have only been there this one time since they re-opened with new owners and for the most part I was happy. My biggest problem was with how long it took to get a plate of nachos and a burrito. There was hardly anyone there and only 1 or 2 people order ahead of us and it took what seamed like 15-20 minutes to get out food. I know almost all new restaurants have growing pains especially when the people running it are new to the business so I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and give them a little time to get the kinks worked out. They are locals to Sebastopol, well intentioned and making a good effort so please give them a chance to succeed. read more

These guys rock! Lagunitas on tap, huge burritos, and quality ingredients. Not to mention a laid back vibe and super friendly staff. One big thing for me is that they are totally kid friendly!!! Foosball too. I've been in Sebastopol for seven years and this is by far my favorite burrito spot. Be patient when parking, it is worth the wait! read more

Burritos are delicious. The smoked chicken is great - pink from being smoked, not undercooked.The salsas have greatly improved, which would be fantastic, if their new, recently-changed chips weren't literally dripping with frying oil. I want to start off by saying that Papas and Pollo was my favorite restaurant on the planet for most of my life. As most seb locals know, it has changed hands a few times and naturally the menu has changed too. I knew I had to go back because I've seriously missed their AMAZING, life-changing, tofu verde burrito. When I went the other day, I was excited that my favorite burrito was still on the menu. The burrito I got was just poorly constructed. The lettuce was in very large pieces that pulled out of the wrap with every bite, making it kind of awkward and unpleasant to eat. The cheese was cold and unmelted and the tofu was wet- not at all like the crispy squares I remembered. Unfortunately, it also tasted like there was no verde sauce on the tofu verde... I couldn't help but notice as I grew steadily more impatient waiting for my food that the employees were just kind of hanging out, chatting. I watched my burrito being made while the chef kind of stood around, talking and I ended up waiting 20 minutes for it as well. So, all in all, not the best dining experience. I sincerely hope the best burrito I've ever had makes an amazing comeback in the future. read more

I had the Seb-Mex salad with grilled chicken. Instead of salad dressing I squeezed fresh limes from the salsa bar over it. It was the best salad I ever had. It was so fresh; I think they picked the greens from their organic garden in the back yard. read more

I normally love this place, but ordered for for take out last night and was not impressed. It's a little over priced but I looked over that aspect since the food is normally delicious. There must be a new cook or something because the food was bland and was not seasoned like it normally is. It tasted so bland. The meat, beans and rice all tasted like no one spiced it. I had a price of lettuce in my burrito that tasted rotten. Very disappointed. Probably won't be going back for awhile. read more

Don't order take out unless you check the items carefully to make certain that you got what you ordered !!! We have been sadly surprised twice recently. The woman taking the orders seemed too busy and also too focused on the game on the TV. I think that she SELECTED the wrong item when I phoned in the order. For 14 years we have driven 14 miles roundtrip to pick up our food but will not do that again. Eating inside is not a pleasant dining experience. read more

Really Papa? All this time I've been under the impression that Papa Loves Mambo and it turns out you've been gallivanting around with Pollo. And thank goodness for that ... because while Mambo might be fun ... GRUB is where it's at ... and "where it's at" is at Papas and Pollo. And so for this week's grub-session, we ventured to the rolling hills of Sebastopol for a round two with our now Brother-in-Grub Adam B. (see Dirk's Parkside Cafe for the prequel). So what do they got at Papas and Pollo? Think organic hippie ... meets thirsty surfer ... meets monster burritos. As I stood in line, one eye on the stuffed rooster next to the register, the other on a row of taps featuring a selection from local Lagunitas Brewing Co ... I surveyed the menu and landed on the Prawntastic Burrito. It combines my two favorite things ... "prawns" and "tastic." The veggie lovers in attendance went for Papas' marinated tofu temptation, which was actually my favorite of the night (I know, I'm toying with losing my GRUB-cred) which was bathed in some sort of magical marinade of flavor delight (it's really the only way to describe it ... trust me ... I tried). On a recommendation, I went for the Lagunitas Little Sumthin' Sumthin' ... a delicious hoppy and sweet treat that I could only imagine would pair all too well with my Mexican grub-to-be. The burritos were massive (just how I like 'em) and filled with wholesome, fresh ingredients. My personal favorite touch was a potent punch of arugula and wild greens inside the burrito. There was just something amazing about starting the day at the organic farm where Adam B. and his lovely-lady-love Aislinn S. lay their heads and trekking over to the fresh, flavor-packed stomping grounds of Papas and Pollo. Sipping on my beer, giving my burrito a healthy pour of Papas' tangy and spicy salsas (rojo and verde to make everyone happy), and taking a giant bite packed with shrimp ... it was a Roberto Benigni moment ... life is beautiful. So as we continue our journey along the GRUB landscape, we're happy to add another hitching post up north. So thanks for the GRUB Papa ... now go home and make sweet love to Mambo. read more

Went to this place for dinner with my wife, she had chicken nachos, I had the Texas Longhorn burrito. We were extremely disappointed...the carne asada in my burrito lacked flavor; actually the whole burrito was a "0". my wife's chicken nachos were extremely soggy and watery and she bit into pieces of pork in her chicken nachos?????........Also, the salsas are not very good at all, they lack flavor. We had to wait for what it seemed forever for our order to be ready; it wasn't until 35+ minuets passed that my wife asked me to go check on our order. I went up to the order pick up window and "LO and Behold" our order had been sitting there for how long "No one Knows"?????........Give it some thought?.....Also, the cashier was "RUDE and UNWELCOMING"...it seems to bother her when customers ask for information about menu items... or anything else for that matter?????.......Other than our 1 star "Gourmet Experience"... if your looking for a cozy, cute, beach themed... kind of - sort of..."Mexican Taqueria/Fonda type place; this place................might be it? read more
