Literally OBSESSED with paperfish. Both times I have visited have been stellar. The place is super hip and "insta worthy". The service is quick, attentive and friendly. I highly recommend their daily happy hour specials , which are even on weekends! The fish is extremely fresh and you can't go wrong with anything on the menu, trust me I've tried it all. What a beautiful surprise! Nice and quaint. A beautiful space, elegant yet unpretentious. Casual and fun with a beautiful vibe and music to match. We came right at the end of happy hour and the staff quickly sat us, took our order and got us in before the clock struck 7! Every single person in the staff... from the manager, to the host, to the bus boy... even the three guys making the sushi said hi and was friendly and smiling! Our server George was amazing! My friend who lives in Miami told me I had to go here and she was right. The food was outstanding.....I mean, you can't get more fresh than this sushi.....truthfully, our server was a bit of a challenging experience in that she talked SUPER SUPER FAST and was seriously not easy to understand AT ALL. I had to ask her repeatedly to say something again and I'm pretty good at understanding someone with a language barrier. This was the first time I was like "good lord I have almost no idea what she is saying." It was a bit annoying because she kind of copped an attitude when we'd ask a question or didn't understand something but I just chose to get over it.....I'm certain it was an exception to the rule. My husband ordered the Miso Black Cod and it was outstanding. I got the Hamachi Jalapeno and it too was amazing. We got 2 orders of Nigiri, although I would not recommend the Wagyu- hard pass. I'd stick with the salmon and maguro. Divine. The drinks were fantastic as well. We had a difficult time finding the place, it's tucked away behind another restaurant, so if you follow the directions via Yelp just know that when it says "you've arrived"-- the restaurant is BEHIND that other restaurant. ;-) Overall: Highly recommend for sure. The food is truly outstanding. The ambience is great. I'm certain that our server experience was an exception. And the directions situation is no one's fault, just follow our tip. Enjoy! read more

Good food, good drinks and good people! I honestly really liked this place and plan to go back. It is so beautiful, like a hidden gem (literally it's kind of hidden) I suggest you make reservations because I tried to go once without a reservation and they didn't let me in. The service here is great though, everyone is so nice and the manager constantly checks up on the the tables. The bartender was very sweet and let us taste the wines before ordering them and made great food recommendations. I believe her name was Tasha so ask for her! They also have very good happy hour deals on food and drinks but out of the happy hour menu the prices are affordable. I will come back for sure! read more

Paperfish: the best sushi experience you can find in Miami . Not only are the inside and outside ambiances incredible, the incredible music, I think sometimes there is a DJ, but the staff will truly make you feel like you are home, Jorge is the best waiter, he is super friendly, Kristian the manager was the best host, it seemed that everything is under control. From their incredible drinks, to their phenomenal nigiris, you and your tummy are sure to leave in a good mood after any meal there. The whole menu will make you want to come back again. Visited Paperfish during happy hour and was delighted. The place is clean and nicely decorated. The happy hour menu was just what we were looking for. The margaritas were spot on, as were the lychee martinis and the mojito (with a sugar cane stick it in). Everything we ordered was delicious. The portions are small, hence the prices, but that's what we wanted. The New York roll was our favorite, but we also had the California roll and the spicy tuna roll. We ordered gyozas and ceviche as well and loved it all! The service was excellent. Highly recommend this place. read more

Went to this place yesterday , we ordered I couple of dishes , food was ok unfortunately the stuff was not very friendly instead of coming to our table To see if we needed anything they were taking to each other by the entrance of the restaurant we had to ask the waiter three time to bring us utensils and when they finally brought them a piece of rice was stuck to the fork , when we told the waiter he look mad we asked to have it changed.and I think the stuff at this place are like this because this place already charged the 18% tip on your check .. read more

I went to Paperfish Sushi twice in one day with my fiancé for New Years Eve. First time the service was phenomenal. She was very professional. We tipped her another $10 on top of the 18% service charge. Second time the service was honestly wack. We didn't feel welcome. I actually felt uncomfortable. The food was good and the drinks are strong Note to Paperfish owner: I'm not sure if it was intentional but the old lady in the red on your wallpaper is not Japanese..... her apron says (Seoul). Koreans eat raw fish too but it's not Japanese style. read more

So disappointing. Only reason I am giving 2 stars is the server was quite lovely and it looks nice inside. For the price the food was so underwhelming, so fishy and the "wagyu" tasted like a Wendy's burger. The octopus was very chewy and flavorless. The ambiance is beautiful and so was our server. She was very nice but we really struggled with her limited English. The sushimi pieces were extremely small and thin. The spicy tuna roll was 95% cucumbers and 5% spicy tuna. we actually couldn't even taste the spicy tuna. The tuna tatiki was also extremely thin but tasty. I would not recommend this if you are hungry, but if you want to over spend for minimal food then it may be a place for you. read more

Honestly extremely disappointed. We had a reservation for 9:15 and showed up and had to wait 20 minutes for our table. When we sat down, it took forever to even get a server to our table. Once we ordered drinks and food, the food came out first. Extremely fishy smelling. I only ordered nigiri and it was covered in sauce - really gross. Way too expensive for what it is. Overall just extremely slow, bad food, and not worth the hype. What a shame. read more

Sat outside and the ambience was great. It is nicely decorated on the patio. The service was prompt, but could be more friendly. We started with the Wagyu Bao Buns and Spicy Edamame. Both tasted great, but wagyu was a little over cooked. For my entree, I ordered the crispy rice and a tuna hand roll. The hand roll was excellent. The seaweed was crispy and the tuna was fresh. As for the crispy rice, the fish was fresh and very tasty. However, the rice was cold and felt like it had been sitting out for a day or so. In my experience it is normally easy to bite into and warm. The salmon on top had way too much truffle oil, it was so over powering. Would still return next time I am in Miami. These are just minor things that they could improve on, but overall the meal was great. Everything is very reasonably priced for sushi in Brickell. read more

The hip version of Japan. A visual delight, fun music and cool spaces indoor and out. Presentation is lovely. Try it all. Tuna paper roll was perfection. The ishiyaki Del Mar is served on fire and is a buttery delight of octopus and shrimp. The Ebi shrimp nigiri is served warm and the sauce is great. Stopped by this hidden gem for some sushi and it did not disappoint! This is some of the freshest sushi we've ever tried. The food was amazing and the service was just as great. Our waiter helped us navigate through the happy hour menu and also recommended some awesome plates from their normal menu. My favorite cocktail by far was the flower blossom. Everybody on the table ended up getting a round. Don't leave without trying one or you'll regret it!! The best dish we had by far was the Crispy rice with salmon which also had some truffle oil on it. It's such a flavorful bite! Of course we had two orders of that lol but so worth it. The place is very chill very nice to relax and have a great time with some friends. Definitely take advantage of the happy hour menu. Deeelish! Get transported back to Japan as you enter past the Orange arches into the fun/romantic high ceiling, cherry blossom filled restaurant. Be sure to take advantage of the food and drink happy hour specials, especially the salmon nigiri and tirado to with passion fruit! Fresh and melt in your mouth amazing. The lychee Martini was deceptively potent. The Wagyu bao reminded me of a shack burger...nonetheless mouthwateringly good. Miso black cod was light, fluffy, and perfectly sweet and savory... highly recommend. Parking is $15 cash in their lot or you can have a go at brickell street parking...good luck! read more

At first glance you may think this spot is overrated. However after tasting the sushi you will quickly realize the quality is what brings people in. OK and also the super cool decor! The front patio is flooded with paper lanterns. And even in the Miami heat you do stay cool with the fans and air cooling system that are on the patio. Inside you'll find a projector and faux cherry blossom trees. The sushi is so fresh, you can taste the difference amongst other sushi spots. That was key to me. I also really enjoyed the soft shell crab bao buns, nice contrast between the soft and crunchy. I took off one star bc the service was a bit chaotic. Different people bringing out different things at the same time, also waited a while for our last roll. They were really busy so try to get a reservation! read more

I LOVE this place! The sushi is amazing, literally any sushi roll will be delicious! I recommend the wagyu beef dumplings, the crispy tuna rice, and the rolls here. I love the decoration at this restaurant, it feels like you're immersed into a japanese garden with orchid blossoms everywhere. There are DJ's playing here on the weekend, and they have a bar area if you just want to get drinks. The service is great, make sure and reserve a table before coming ( they are always busy). The manager was so nice to us when he realized they had sold out of the mochi dessert! He promised us that the next time we went it would be on the house! Are you kidding me? I am not sure how this place got good reviews on Yelp here. Let me start by saying that we are from NYC, and we do have high standards esp for sushi places. However, this place a big NO NO for us. Firstly, the food was just ok. Ok I mean like a good neighborhood sushi takeout. The place you go to when everything else is closed. The drinks are watery and tasteless. Presentation is interesting. As for the service-ZERO stars. We were sitting in a pile of dirty dishes our entire meal. When you ask to clean it up, they will either ignore you or give you that dirty look or attitude. I mean, it is a $200 dinner! Moreover, no one was nice or accommodating. The toilet sitting area is very warm, not very air conditioned properly so expect to be a little warm especially after a couple of sips. It's also the walkway to an actual big restrooms for the whole building. The drinks are VERY pricy but the setting is perfect and makes up for it. Unfortunately, the service was not up to par. Disney priced drinks without the Disney customer service. Do I want to come back? Yes. Am I going to be picky with the vibes coming from the bartender and chose who to go to? Also yes. Hopefully, I can increase the rating.

The mix of flapping gums and mixologists concocting cocktails made for a cacophonous distraction from the actual "music" we were there to "listen" to. My ladyfriend and I ducked out across the street to Black Market Miami Bar where the game was on and you could actually order a drink that didn't cost $50+. After a few libations, we headed back to Miami Sound Machine Bar (they need to put 'Miami' in every bar's name down here in case you forget where you are). There was a weird looking guy playing depressing vinyls with singing in different languages. I was more in the mood for something upbeat and groovy like salsa or merengue that I could dance to with my girls. Although I did hear the 12" Andrew Weatherall remix of Happy Mondays "Hallelujah" at some point, a staple at the Haçienda nightclub in Manchester - an institution that shook the music world and changed club culture forever. The head servant at the bar looked like Nirvana (yes, one man looking like a whole band). He was jaded and rude. I don't blame him! As the night wore on, the crowd got larger and more deplorable, and the room got smaller and smaller. I got stuck in an awkward conversation waiting to use the bathroom. I don't think sound bars are for me. Pros: The bar across the street had really fair drink prices, and the servants are polite and efficient. Cons: the ratchet yuppies that inhabit Miami's nightlife, always on the prowl to ruin a subculture with their tackiness.

Finally visited the highly recommended new sushi spot of brickell. First off, let me say wow the decor is beautiful. The cherry blossoms immediately set the tone. Upon being accommodated at our table I could not helo but to notice how well thought out and organized the table was set and our waitress Melinda greeted us immediately and assisted us in ordering drinks. She basically explained each cocktail to me in which I was impressed and helped me make some great choices. The drinks were spot on. Delicious and picture worthy. The bar manager also came over to see how our drinks came out and I really appreciated the attention. The woman manager came by our table a few times to make sure everything was good. Their attention to detail was impeccable. Moving on to the food, every single plate that we ordered was AMAZING! We ordered several sharing plates and several sushi rolls. Please try the Ishiyaki Del Mar you will not regret it comes with a little fire show and all. Ended my night with the Miso Black Cod... Sashimi was top-notch (7/10), so fresh! I'm visiting from NYC and came here for my first night in Miami and this place is literally AMAZING!! Exceeded all expectations, the food came out so quickly and everything was so fresh. But my favorite part about the experience was having Joselyne as a server. The moment we sat down she came over and asked about any food allergies and I have some severe allergies, but she was so attentive and mindful of them. I also cannot eat gluten so everything she explained on the menu she explained how to make it gluten free for me so I can still enjoy it and brought out gluten free soy sauce (I didn't even know soy sauce had gluten in it until tonight). She was literally the most mindful about my allergies than any server or restaurant has ever been, so I'm extremely grateful for that!! At first sight, we were amazed by the wonderful scenery & ambiance of the cherry blossom trees and hanging lanterns throughout the entry. Our wonderful server, Nathalie, was amazing! She greeted, recommended, & served us one of Paperfish's most popular drinks. The Wasabi Martini. We absolutely loved it!!! After our tasteful drinks, we decided to order one of Nathalie's personal favorite dishes, the Misuna accompanied by the Smoked Rocoto Ceviche. Paperfish Brickell continues to impress during our third visit to this lively downtown Miami restaurant. The food quality remains outstanding across a diverse menu of Asian fusion dishes. The Hamachi Jalapeno roll and the Pork and Shrimp Gyozas were particular standouts - fantastic flavors and expertly prepared. Our server Maydel provided attentive, courteous service, ensuring a top-notch dining experience. We took advantage of the famous happy hour this time and enjoyed well-made cocktails including the Margaritas and Whisky Sour at discounted prices. We discovered this restaurant yesterday and we all fell in love with it! Chris the manager immediately accommodated us even though it was quite busy, and we didn't have a reservation. we sat at a high table and were able to order from the happy hour many which is fantastic. you cannot beat those prices, especially for the quality of the food! and the drinks Jorge was our server, very nice and knowledgeable. Chris kept checking on us to make sure we were satisfied. the ambience is spectacular, we were having a conversation and at no point. I felt like the noise level was bad. the food was to die for and we loved the cocktail on the menu! This restaurant is such a hole in the wall, I had trouble finding it in the corner I had the classic ceviche during happy hour- very tasty but a bit too much black pepper Next, I tried the himachi jalapeño roll & the paper tuna- I enjoyed both of these rolls very much. First things first, Diego was an incredible server and the overall vibe of the restaurant is amazing and so pretty inside. Food was solid - recommend the Nikkei ceviche and amazing cocktails. One of the best lychee martinis in miami. Definitely not the most high quality fish but still great and not the highest price so it all works out: honestly lost a star because the hostesses were so rude and had so much attitude even though we had a reservation, wouldn't seat us inside (even though we said when we made res that we wanted inside) and they were just rude about.
