This restaurant has been on my hit list for a long time. I've had numerous friends visit from Philly and New York just to dine here. They rant and rave about how incredible the food is. I had to try it. First impressions count! I sat down at 7:04pm, waiting for my friends to arrive. I wasn't greeted or acknowledged until 7:15, although many of the staff walked by, no one spoke or informed me that someone would be there shortly. When the busboy brought out my egg rolls, I informed him that I asked for no sauce on them, and he gave me the meanest look. He rolled his eyes and sucked his teeth. My friend and I were perplexed. I asked him why he was being rude and if I had done something wrong bc I requested no sauce. I had to complain to my server about this. Yikes! Our server was pleasant, very helpful, and accommodating. All of the other staff were very friendly and hospitable. Reading so much about the crab-rolls, I had to try them. They were very bland, contained cheese (?!?!?!), and the egg wrapper had an undercooked, gummy texture. Not a fan. I also got the Hennessy splash cocktail. It was tasty and cute. Luckily, my experience got much better. I also had the stuffed lobster (a la carte- thank you for providing that option) and the kale greens. Both were very tasty! My friends got the lamb and salmon bites! Both delicious, especially the lamb! Things to note, there's an attached parking garage that has complimentary parking for the restaurant. There's no entry to the restaurant from the garage though. Make a reservation as they are quite booked. They automatically add a 20% gratuity to your check (NOT A FAN OF RESTAURANTS THAT DO THIS! I'm a great tipper, but I don't want to be forced to tip 20% even if the service is subpar. It's not fair and can deter accountability). The stuffed lobster was great! Get it. The lamb, delicious!!! The flavors, temp, portion size and overall presentation was pretty legit. Friend #1 ordered honey glazed stuffed salmon and friend #2 ordered honey jerk lamb chops. I sampled some of their food: a jerk lamb chop, salmon, mac & cheese and crab dip. -- we share over here, lol. Everything was a hit. I was surprised with dessert (and them singing happy birthday to me, awww). So good! As for drinks, I highly recommend and can say they're really good. I ordered the The service was greaaaat. Had a great experience! When had a party of 8 an everyone had a great time. We had a 3pm reservation and they were ready for us. They have a two hour table limit which I think is a good idea. Once ordered the food comes out fairly quickly. The pictures in this post do not go the good Justice. The French Toast was incredible! Amazing experience going to Papi Cuisine during a work trip! The dress code is business casual so remember to dress to impress. There was an awesome vibe inside and great music playing. Our waitress was nice and she checked in us often. The food was PHENOMENAL. We started off with the crab egg rolls. They were stuffed to the max with crab. Definitely a must-try. We stopped by on a Sunday for a brunch reservation. (Reservations are strongly advised!) Even with my reservation, we were asked to wait outside for twenty minutes for a table to free up. It's that busy. What I enjoyed: our waiter was attentive and responsive, generously portioned and flavorful (for the most part) options, and great music. Highlights are the crab egg rolls, steak and eggs, and French toast. The not so great: the music might be a little on the loud side--we were shouting at each other and still had to repeat ourselves. Additionally, the gumbo looked really fresh but, sadly, they really overdid it with the salt. Saltiness overwhelmed any other potential flavor so I had to send it back. Ambiance - This restaurant has been on my 'to visit' list for a long time, and unfortunately we left a bit disappointed. When we walked in, the hostess podium was surrounded by 3 extra staff talking to the hostess, as if they were all hanging out, rather than running a restaurant. It felt like we were the ones interrupting rather than being welcome customers. The next thing we noticed was the quite loud music - appropriate for a bar at 10pm, not dinner & conversation at 6pm. (Halfway through dinner, the music stopped. Then started again 10 minutes later. Didn't seem like they had a plan.) Food - Once we were seated, we were a bit surprised at the high prices for food and drinks (certainly the cost of eating out is increasing, but this felt particularly high). My wife had a hard time finding a main on the menu that wasn't seafood, other than the chicken cesear salad, so we decided to share some apps instead. The food did impress - the crab cake egg rolls were delicious, and the wings were both tasty and a decent serving size (enough to share). Service - However, the service was mostly absent and the waitress seemed to be doing double-duty at the hostess station. I wanted to love it but there are some issues with a resturant like this trying to be chic. 1. Crab cake was lots of filler, not a jumbo lump crab cake and was flavorless. 2. Lobster was dry and overcooked. I got the garlic butter lobster. It came out dry as all hell. I had to ask for a side of melted butter. You would think it would have came with it. 3. The food here is absolutely delicious. I ended up getting the lamb chops and everything was portioned really well for me specifically. Can't give it more stars because there were some aspects of my experience that was a little rough around the edges. For example, when my friend and I walked in we were told that they were booked for the night and there were no more reservations, they stated that the bar was first come first serve but there was no real organized way of allowing someone to wait for a bar seat. It was more so just you sticking around and hoping that the next time you walked back in there would be an open bar stool available. I feel like for the bar seating they should definitely consider incorporating some type of reservation system or when warmer weather arrives even having people queue outside for it. Regardless of that fact I decided to go on OpenTable and just check to see if they had any reservations left and saw that there were four timeslots left for the night. I proceeded to book a reservation through OpenTable even though the restaurant had told me they had no walk-in availability and when I returned and told them that I just made a reservation they didn't even say anything to acknowledge the fact that they had just told me they had no reservations left for the night. This led me to assume that they just weren't interested in having any more tables to tend to before closing. A friend mentioned this spot months ago, so I decided to visit. I had to cancel my reservations twice and I was finally able to visit yesterday. The place is located on a tight street that gets quite a bit of traffic. A bus goes down the street as well. We lucked up and found parking though. Upon entering, the foyer is very small. It was people waiting for a table and to go food. People we're leaving as well, so it was pretty crowded in the entrance area. We were seated shortly after arriving for our reservation. We sat in the bar area at a table. The place was packed. Music was loud, but not so much that we couldn't enjoy our conversation. It has a club type atmosphere and most of the diners appeared to be early to mid 20s. It had a nice girls night out vibe. Andrea was our server and she was a delight from beginning to end. I asked what cocktails were good and she recommended the strawberry lemon drop after asking my preference. She did not steer me wrong. My husband and I started with the crab egg rolls and the Korean bbq wings. The appetizers took a while to come out, but Andrea communicated with us as to why. O M G, well worth the wait. Both appetizers were simply amazing. Entrees were honey grilled chicken breast with broccolini and mashed potatoes and crab stuffed lobster with kale and mashed potatoes. This is such a fun place to go. The music and decor is unique to Portland. The staff are VERY nice and helpful. The drinks are well made, plenty of kick but not overboard, just right. The menu was stocked full of seafood and different bites. A lot and I mean a lot of fried food so if that's not for you neither is this place! The seafood Alfredo looked nothing like the pictures but was still full of seafood and delicious. The crab cake fries were the absolute star of the menu! The crab cake was hearty and large! The fries were drizzled with a sweet spicy sauce that went great with the crab cake! Now for the cons... the drinks were not good. Either so strong that drink flavor was gone or straight juice. If you don't like Hennessy don't order a drink here because that seems to be all that they have. They had a pineapple drink served in a literal pineapple for $40 which blew my mind! I didn't care much for the Brussel sprouts but the slow cooked kale was absolutely delicious and so was the lobster tail. At some point during our dining experience, my niece ordered Buffalo chicken dip and because I LOVE cheese, I couldn't resist so I tasted that too and it was pretty good! If I had been able to resist temptation my dining experience would've stopped there but my hubby wanted dessert - he ordered bread pudding. We went to the one on Redwood but I don't see that as an option on Yelp. No sign on the door. The wait staff was VERY poorly trained and argumentative. There was a $40 upcharge that was NOT listed on the menu. We weren't given our wine to taste before it was poured. One of us ordered an appetizer as dinner and instead of asking if he wanted it as dinner it was brought out WAY before everyone else's. We asked to speak to the manager who also argued with us. The food was awesome! I'm SO glad I finally got to try the crab egg rolls. The slow cooker kale was a delicious, homey comfort and an excellent side for the lobster. We were told the lamb chops are prepared medium well, so just something to keep in mind if you prefer medium/rare. They were a bit over cooked but it did not impact taste or presentation. Listen!!! 10/10 stars for me. As you walk into the restaurant, you find yourself walking into a clean aesthetically pleasing environment with lux decor. There's even a section towards the back with a floral backdrop and blue velvet seats (as pictured below). I ordered the crabcake eggrolls (which were pretty popular a while back on social media), the seasoned fries, and a mule as a drink. The egg rolls were SO WORTH IT! That alone made me want to come back. From the crunch of the exterior to the freshness of the crab inside, I was so close to ordering some to take home. This place was everything I expected it to be and more. I have been wanting to eat here for over a year now. Thank God for the new location and online reservation system. The establishment was very easy to find and there was generous street parking at the time of day I visited. I did notice there's a garage connected that reserves the 1st floor for this restaurant so that works too. As soon as I entered, there was a very nice hostess who pulled up my reservation and took me to my preferred seat which was a high top within the bar area. The environment was very attractive and eye appealing. The layout was perfect, seating arrangements and space left plenty of options. Marco who was working the bar acknowledged me almost immediately and told me that he would be over soon. I saw the QR scan code on the table so I went on and used it so I could order when he came over. I ordered the Colossal Shrimp, Brussel Sprouts, and Strawberry Spinach Salad. Delish times 3!! Shrimp - Great size although not Colossal. Well seasoned and prepared and worth every penny. Brussel Sprouts - Tasty and plentiful. Well seasoned and prepared. Strawberry Spinach Salad - Surprisenly larger abs more fulfilling than expected. Fresh Spinach leaves and Strawberries. Perfect dressing. Great price too. The drink menu looked delicious but I was still on the clock so wasn't able to take advantage of that. I am sooo impressed with this place and already planning my husband's surprise birthday dinner there! I can't wait to call them make these reservations, I know he will enjoy! Damn good job Papi Cuisine and well worth the wait! ** This wouldn't be a true Yelp Review w/o honesty ** The 1 and only downfall was there were 2 younger staff members who wore their masks below their nose. 1 female and 1 male. The female appeared to be a server. I'm unsure whether or not she fixed it properly while serving but the entire time she walked around bar area, her mask was down and there were several pockets of patrons within 3-4 ft of her. She continued to keep her mask down while Marco was making drinks and she was socializing. The young gentleman came from the back area of bar w his mask below nose and sometimes at chin. He didn't stay visible long. Truly an eye sore considering we all know folks who have been devastated by COVID in some way. This should be an easy fix for a well established business such as this that appears to continue to pride themselves of their increasingly well respected reputation. read more

This restaurant came highly recommend and I see why. We had amazing service and the aesthetic of the restaurant was cute. For starters, we had The Crab Stuffed Egg Rolls which were delicious. Plenty of crab and the sauce on top was great. For mains, I had the honey jerk lamb chops with brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes. The lamb chops were flavorful and juicy and the Brussels were in this sweet sauce. My husband had the surf and turf fries and this man tore his food up (I did too! Lol. What wife ain't taking off her man plate? Hehehe)! He even ordered some of the colossal shrimp that came with the meal to go. I had an amazing experience here and will definitely be back. And I completely feel like every food choice was worth the money spent. read more
