First time here. I am an oyster snob but not to the point of knowing every region around. Mine is about freshness and sweetness. Today they offered three types the standard Gulf, NJ Blue Points and something called Bad boys. All were great for different reasons. But for us what makes them tasty is great horse radish, a good hot sauce and good cocktail sauce. All passed! The Shrimp nachos were tasty. We always save the sauce for some extra dipping. We visited Shuckin Shack today and it was really great! We were seeking some good food, an oyster happy hour, and a good atmosphere and we got all 3! Sarah was our waitress and she took awesome care of us! We ordered a good amount of food and drinks and she spaced them out appropriately. The oysters were so delicious that we ordered more after we were finished with the first round , the nachos were amazing as well! Me and my wife came in to try the new Oyster place. We liked the nautical theme and bright ambiance . Our waitress was nice and attentive. We had the Cappy's roast and split it. The crab legs were good but even though we had the cracker the puller for getting the meat out was missing. To be fair we didn't ask if they had one but it should be furnished with the rest of the utensils. The oysters we got were steamed and very good with the horseradish sauce! The jumbo steamed shrimp with old bay and cocktail sauce was delicious!! The clams were the least favorite but still good. In sum, we were pleased with our visit and hope this restaraunt makes it in Alpharetta as Atlanta metro is short on good seafood places. read more

Enjoyed a delicious meal at the brand new Shuckin' Shack in Alpharetta! The cold crab dip was a great start and came with exactly the right number of toast points to enjoy every last morsel. The grilled garlic-Parmesan oysters were melt-in-your-mouth delicious with a subtle smokiness that was perfection. (We ordered six. Will definitely get more next time!) I'm a shrimp and grits lover so had to try it even though I prefer traditional loose grits to the grit cake they serve up here. And... it was a fantastic dish. The grit cake wasn't at all dry (passed the test!) and the rest of the dish was creamy goodness. Cocktails were also on point. The Shucktini was a dirty martini with spicy olives, an Old Bay rim and a steamed oyster. Smooth and delicious! Menu prices are VERY reasonable. Atmosphere was casual and fun. This place was awful . We had to wait 20 mins to get a drink . Then another 40 minutes to get our food . There were 3 of is . They bright 1 meal at a time . And 2 of the orders were wrong . The manager brought one of the meals and said sorry the bill will be comped but then 10 mins later the fia meal came. The waitress came with tre bill and apologized and said my manager took $20 off . As we said the food was very average but half of the problem os how it is being run -awful management . We also noticed that some people that came in after us for food before us -so maybe not the kitchen but the waitress . To bad for a new restaurant ! read more

Great service! Erin (I think) is a great bartender. She went out of her way to find a mixer I like. Food was fantastic as well. I've eaten here about 6 times now. Always on point. I'm a late lunch patron. However, I will say, they don't have sweet tea or tea at all. Every time, and I mean every single time, I hear at least two people ask for tea and they look at each other befuddled that they don't have it. Our first time here. The food was really good! The Parmesan Oysters appetizer, Shrimp & grits and the Shrimp basket were great. The draft beer in a frosted glass was really appreciated. The portions were more than we expected, so we had to take some leftovers home as well. Our server was Emily. I went today 12/3, for lunch with a coworker. I was hesitant afterany reviews weren't the best. I was pleasantly surprised. We sat at the bar and were attended by a lovely bartender/server, Erin. She was outstanding; good knowledge of the food, etc. We both ordered the fried calabash shrimp platters. I also ordered a cup of clam chowder. The soup was some of the best tasting I've had anywhere; creamy, thick and just perfect. My coworker and I both agreed that the shrimp was very good; cooked just right and plenty of it. We both opted for the hush puppies; as recommended by Erin. Pretty good. We both did t care so much for the coleslaw. It had a differen mix to it that didn't hit for us. Overall? I was excited to try Shuckin Shack in Alpharetta A few months ago we ate at the one in Cumming and enjoyed it We were so disappointed last night The ambiance is what you expect - beach vibe The service was terrible Our waiter Darren might be brand new to waiting tables and it showed - waited 10 minutes with menus before acknowledged then told I will be back soon without taking a drink order When drink order was placed it took over 10 minutes to arrive (86 Iced tea) Finally ordered Food was very average Darren never came by to see if we needed anything (my husband asked for more dressing for his salad but he finished it before it came after asking twice) My oyster po boy had thousand island dressing drizzled on top (not a fan) and asked for plain It took 19 minutes for the new po boy The veggies have zero taste (like frozen bag veggies microwaved) They definitely need training for waitstaff and an overhaul of food quality I will watch reviews and see if they improve I do a lot of ckient events and was hoping to use the upstairs patio for private events. As a downtown Alpharetta resident I was excited to learn that we had a new oyster bar coming to our city center. My first visit was a disappointment. Raw oysters on the half shell at $1.50 each is reasonable, but they were tiny. They came from Virginia. My experience has been that the gulf oysters, which are primarily from Louisiana are larger and better. my entrée was a fried shrimp basket. The shrimp were lightly breaded in properly cooked, but once again tiny like popcorn shrimp. The sides were good but proportions wrong. Too many hush puppies and a tiny portion of coleslaw. I will give it another chance later because I want to try the Poboy sandwich but for raw oysters, I will go to Hugo's in Roswell Service was good read more

Much the same as other reviews. Never do a review right after a place opens but we walked out after waiting for well over an hour for our food. Even after we asked, they said we were next up...nope. Owner needs to figure out how to train the staff to address situations as well. And the kitchen might need someone with experience to turn that train wreck around. read more

First of all, the service was excellent. The waitstaff were friendly and efficient. The selection of cocktails and beers was top notch and the bourbon offerings were a great surprise!!! 2 stars only because the crab dip was good. I can't remember the last time I had such flavorless food. Ordered their "low country boil" - shrimp, sausage, corn, potatoes for ~$30 I think. I think they boiled everything individually in unseasoned water. Nothing had flavor. Not even salt. I don't mean "oh this isn't as good as the best low country boil I've ever had". I've chewed on pencils that had more flavor than any of this. The melted butter didn't even have flavor, and it was just colder than room temp??? Don't think it was real butter. Wife had raw oysters (no oyster fork). They tried to do their own cocktail sauce, I think? But I also don't think they've ever had cocktail sauce? Oysters were meh. In-laws had some of their fried shrimp and fries. Again, you might as well crack open dinosaur nuggets and you'll get better food. Apparently, they were out of Bloody Mary mix by 2p on a Saturday. I guess no one at the restaurant had enough brains to run to Walmart and pick some up. They were busy when we showed up, (no wait, but a pretty full restaurant), but by the time we left there were only maybe 4 families still around and a lot of staff (including our waitress with our drinks empty) just standing around. No wet wipes provided with our peel n eat shrimp. Waitress didn't even know where they were. She checked on our table once before ordering food to get drinks, once way after our food was brought to the table and drinks (soda and water) had been sitting low for a while and then once more for the checks. Worst service ever? Nah. 3/10 is probably a fair score there. Could be nitpicky about the furniture and "ambiance" as Yelp puts it, but it was unremarkable enough to where I don't care. The flavorless food eclipsed all other feedback I can give. Not even tasted gross, just ZERO flavor. Unless all you want is cold crab dip, go to Long John Silvers before you go here. read more

"You'd have a better dining experience at a DMV." Ah, Shuckin' Shack Oyster Bar -- where time stands still, tables remain unwiped, and drinks are more of a myth than a menu item. We waited and waited and waited... for everything... enough time to learn a new language at the end of it all. One margarita never arrived. No staff could tell us? It may still be in limbo, somewhere between the bar and the void. The table was never cleared, essential items not provided at the onset (napkins and cutlery seemingly unavailable luxury items at this place), really setting the tone for what would become an evening of slow, sticky disappointment. Our waitress was lovely -- truly sweet -- but tragically untrained. She appeared as confused by the menu as we were by the fact that the restaurant was allowed to open in this condition. Food? Well. After over an hour, oysters finally arrived, presumably via rowboat. Unfortunately, they were as exciting as wet gravel. Mains were no better -- lukewarm, missing items listed on the menu, and completely unremarkable. Honestly, we left hungry. The best part? Trying to pay was a saga. No one came. No one noticed. We just wanted to leave so we could actually go eat dinner -- which, hilariously, is why we came in the first place. Yes, we were told "We've only just opened" -- multiple times. But let me assure you, the prices were fully mature. The 'managers' (possibly too strong a word here) and owner drifted through the space, ineffective, invisible, and entirely unfazed. Couldn't wait to get out the door so I could eat. I wanted to like this place. Really did. The wait was 30 minutes longer than we were quoted. (It's opening week, it happens, maybe to be expected) We ordered drinks right away, it took 15 minutes or so to get a Bucket of Beers, another 10 for the margarita and single beer. The specialty margarita was so bad. It didn't taste like a margarita at all and was watered down from the ice melting before I got it. Two other people who ordered the margarita also said it was not good. They replaced it with something else, that took another 15 minutes. The server was so apologetic, the bartenders seemed less than concerned. The food - I wish I had better news. But I don't. The fried items were overcooked on the outside and a few were still raw in the middle (hush puppies and shrimp!). Hope we don't get sick from the shrimp. The fries seemed to be rolled in salt. We ordered the cold Crab dip. It wasn't cold. It was almost in a puddle from sitting out. (Temp outside tonight was in the 70's, that wasn't the problem) The Parmesan oysters had so much cheese, it was hard to find the oyster. The raw ones came out on a tray with some ice. But most of it had melted and some of the oysters were filled with water. Owner was nice, server was nice, but we were there over 2 hours, solely because it took so long to get everything.
