Okay, this has been our "go-to" restaurant for years, but over the Christmas holiday they dropped the ball. We went early for dinner on Christmas Eve at 4:45PM and ordered oysters on the half shell, which came out semi-frozen??? Then the dinner order was the salmon for her and catfish/shrimp etouffee with dirty rice. The fishes were excellent, as was the shrimp, but whoever was creating the roux for the etouffee must have been a new hire because the consistency was chalky from not mixing the flour properly. The dish came out lumpy and dry. Sorry but had to post it because i love your restaurant but you gotta raise the bar or you will start losing many of us loyal customers....dont forget the prices have increased so the quality must go up as well!!!! read more

We came here after a basketball game at The Field House since my wife was craving seafood. We had a great experience on an early Sunday evening, We started with the Shrimp and Crawfish Fondoo. It was a tasty combination of seafood, spinach, and cheese with garlic bread for dipping. We split The Salmon Alexander along with a House Salad. The Salmon was grilled with a rare center. It is normally my first stop off the airplane when arriving to a city in Texas as there are no available locations available where I live (DC- Maryland-Virginia area). This was my first visit to this particular location, located right outside of DFW airport. I write this review to give praise to the young waiter Nana. He was attentive, helpful, and very quick to assist. I'll be back! The food was amazing, of course. I arrived around 1:30pm and it was fairly crowded. We had a great experience at Pappas Seafood House in Humble, TX. We decided to visit their Grapevine location. This restaurant turned out to be more upscale than the Humble location. Food wise, the oysters at Fezzo's in Broussard, LA tasted better than the Pappadeaux's version. The other dishes we ordered were decent. Verdict: The service and food at this location paled in comparison to Humble, but it wasn't terrible. However, we'll stick to Humble next time. The lighting was nice in the restaurant. Zach was a fantastic waiter. He first ask if this was anyone's first time there and it was. My first time, I'm from San Diego California & our friends brought us here. It was fabulous! He took his time explaining the menu & told us how everything was served it all sounded great lol. Growing up in Arlington, Pappadeaux was a staple. There was a period of time where I was dining there one to two times a week. Why? Fanatical food, pleasant service, and bullet proof execution. Surprisingly, they've been able to do this through all of their other locations as well, bringing the same experience in more places that McDonalds should be taking notes from. This isn't a place where you should expect to use a BOGO coupon, it is in the meaty $$$ category (out of five). But if you have the kids with the baby sitter and want to take the spouse out, or if you have a generous date budget and want to take someone special for an immaculate experience look no further. read more

I was given a gift card for Pappadeaux and decided to pick up lunch one day while I was near the restaurant. I paid $33 for 2 fried catfish fillets and 4 shrimp. The shrimp was not fresh, and almost tasted like it was pre-breaded and frozen. It did not come with any sauce even though I requested tarter. Then I paid $9.95 for an extra side of truffle potatoes. I have a love-hate relationship with Pappadeaux. I will recommend it, but with reservation.   The service is top notch. When we were there, it was peak dinner time and they were properly staffed to meet all of their diner's needs in a timely fashion.   The food is high quality and tastes great. But, before you decide to make a reservation, know that it's Pricey, with a capital "P". We spent over $100, with a couple of cocktails, an appetizer and a shared entrée and dessert. So, for a couple, it'd be easy to spend upwards of $200. For a delicious cocktail, I recommend a Mai Tai. Served in a tall glass, this brightly colored, tropical cocktail will pair really well with fried cheese or seafood.   For a shared appetizer, I recommend the MOZZARELLA CHEESE BITES, with spicy marinara sauce. This fried cheese is comfortably in my top five.   For dinner, we shared a meal because we filled up on the cheese.  We ordered the SEAFOOD PLATTER, which includes two fried catfish fillets, shrimp, oysters, stuffed shrimp & stuffed crab. It is a delicious choice, though you can't go wrong with any of their entrees.   For dessert, we ordered a VANILLA CHEESECAKE, with fresh berries to share. It's RICH! Great choice. We definitely could have lived without this.   The ambiance is classy. When it's peak meal times, expect a long wait, and a noisy dining experience. Though you can wear casual clothes and fit right in, I suggest that for a proper date night you wear your Sunday best and shine your shoes.   Overall, I recommend Pappadeaux if your budget allows. I can't believe I haven't done a review on Pappadeaux. This has been one of my favorite restaurants for well over 20 years. I've eaten in most of the ones in the Dallas area as well as Atlanta. It's remarkably consistent across the chain. I've never had a bad meal here and the service is always excellent. It can and does get kinda noisy at peak times but that's just a sign that people are enjoying themselves. I almost always get the Mississippi Catfish Opelousas but everything is great. It usually comes with dirty rice which is very good but I try to maintain a keto lifestyle and get a veg substitute. Sautéed spinach is the current offering but my fave is when they have spaghetti squash. Yummmm. I love the gumbos too (5 different varieties) and the seafood cobb salad is huge and delicious. My highest recommendation if you enjoy seafood with a cajun flair. read more

I love Pappadeaux and the Pappa family of resturants. I stopped at this Pappadeaux on my way to the DFW airport to eat before flying home. Luckily I was able to order from the lunch menu with just a few minutes to spare. I had the fried shrimp, andouille sausage, and red beans & rice entree. First, this is a large meal, the portion sizes were massive. The fried shrimp was perfectly breaded and cooked. The andouille sausage had the perfect amount of spice to give a slight bead of sweat on the forehead. And the red beans and rice were good, but I felt the red beans were slightly undercooked. The presentation of the entree in a large bowl deserved to be captured in a photo. Also, I failed to mention the large beget of french bread accompanied with whipped butter. I sat at the bar and my server was Shauna. Shauna is a lovely lady and an excellent server. She provided first-class service from start to finish. Ask for Shauna! Great place! Great food! It's been years of exploring outstanding local food since I've visited Pappadeaux's and I came away from my recent re-visit shaking my head as to how this over-priced, over-packed, over-sold chain has survived with all the high quality food available in this area. I can only guess it's the brand, and maybe a clientele that remember when Pappadeaux first hit the market and stood out. But man. Not coming back here unless I'm planning to hit the lunch menu. We made a reservation on Mother's Day and got right in. The tables are packed so close we had to shuffle past customers and servers. They are definitely not worried about Covid safety here. Our server was handsome, smooth, and the hardest suggestive-seller in memory. I ordered my favorite, Pasta Mardis Gras, for a whopping $38. DeVivo Bros in Keller has several dishes half this price that are as good or better. Even the Cajun places in southern Louisiana don't charge this much for food that's *way better*. I had one short beer, she had one cocktail, we split one appetizer, two adult entrees and one child's menu item. With tip, the ticket was $175! It was good, but not that good. For that price we could have had a couple steaks at Del Frisco's. I don't get the value. But, others seem to. I'd recommend hitting local places recommended on Yelp. Extend your "eating out" budget and enjoy some food that's at or above the level here. read more

Oh my....it seems I've been slacking here because it has not been 6 years since I was at this Pappadeaux's!! That won't happen again on the missed updates. Anyways, A familiar plan. My sister was heading back home and we stopped in for a great lunch before her flight. I ordered my usual Pasta Mardi Gras along with a Sweet tea. She decided to go a little off menu and ordered grilled shrimp with linguini in a lemon butter sauce. She also had a water with a lime. If that's what happened, it would be a 5 star review and we'd be done. It's not what happened of course. Her custom lunch was most likely grilled up with my Pasta Mardi Gras shrimp and then mixed with the linguini....and that made it very spicy for her. So they tried again, just with the linguini in lemon butter sauce....and that ended up being good. For me, my Pasta Mardi Gras was perfect. At this point, the overall review should be 3.5 stars. But as you can see, it's 5 stars? How come? Well, the manager came over and talked to her about the mix up and then decided to give me the dish my sister couldn't eat, as she said they were just going to toss it. Ok, I love spicy stuff (if you know, you know!) and that was unexpected. The bill arrived and that didn't have her dish anywhere on it. We did NOT ask that and expected to be charged something for sure. Nope. They didn't even charge for my sweet tea. I am not surprised about the outcome, but I am surprised how we got there. I look forward to coming back here the next time I'm in the area, or picking up/dropping off my sister for a flight. Our waiter? My son's birthday this was where he chose to go. I even made a reservation and noted on that it was a birthday dinner. Service was poor and my bass was raw and cold in the center. Really disappointed. Then the waiter tried to give us the check as we were just finishing entree and I said we'd like dessert and reminded him it was my son's birthday, he said ok fine I'll bring you your free birthday dessert. LARGE parties BEWARE. Expecting the Pappadeaux's of the past? You won't get it here! Pappadeaux's what happened to you? You used to be amazing, now you are mediocre at BEST. Trying new food places is fun, but it's equally as fun to go back to an oldie, but goody. However, this oldie, isn't that good anymore unfortunately. There are so many hidden gems in DFW, that this restaurant will not be on my list again. If I am going to spend my hard earned money: service needs to be great, food needs to be great, atmosphere needs to be great. So many good places to choose from, why settle for less?? First thing: If you are with a large party (over 10 people), this restaurant is no longer for you. They used to be able to accommodate large parties, but this is no longer the case. The Manager Angie stated that there is a corporate policy post covid and only 10 people can be at the same table. This seems a bit ridiculous when the restaurant is packed. If they are worried about too many people and germs then maybe we need to limit the number of people gathering at the front door and outside. Anyway, large parties steer clear, avoid it like you avoid a tornado. Here's the deal: The only reason I am giving this oldie 2 stars is because of the waiter Delonnie. He was amazing. Very kind and welcoming attitude, and attentive. If you are living on the edge, up for a gamble, and you end up here, ask for him. You won't be disappointed with his service. I can't make any promises on the food, atmosphere, etc The kitchen was backed up and my parties meal came out at 4 different times. We had people finished with their meal before others had even received their meal. Needless to say it made for an akward time. The Manager Matt just threw his Kitchen staff under the bus stating that they suck. He said they didn't know what they were doing....Well that's great but if you're one of the managers then what does that say about you as well??? Overall this is a no go for me. I could go on and tell you about the mediocre food (even my 7 year old said her chicken strips weren't good), or my $18 drink that seemed to be missing the alcohol....but I digress. Let's try it again outside of the Dallas metro area, this renowned Establishment was full of lunch time diners ordering multitude of seafood and southern fare lots of conversations taking place in this new Orleans themed eatery. Our waiter was quick to offer us beverages and appetizers. Went to this place last minute as a seafood option was not actually expecting to find cost efficient options that said they did have a lunch menu with multiple options as well as smaller portions. Tried the shrimp étouffée as well as the Alfredo shrimp which we're both very tasty fresh and well seasoned. I do believe that the seasoning was a little too much? As well as very salty, but they did compensate by giving us multiple loaves of bread to have as a side. The service was very prompt and well presented. The ambiance was very elegant and presentable.
