Papa's Pro Steakhouse was a lovely pick for Valentine's Day. Service was genuinely excellent from start to finish and our waiter was attentive. Valet was $10 with two attendants, which felt reasonable given the downtown location. We started with the Spanish octopus carpaccio, and it was absolutely the highlight of the night. It was incredibly fresh, bright, and beautifully citrusy. For mains, we ordered both the ribeye and the filet. The filet clearly stood out: tender, flavorful, and cooked perfectly, while the ribeye was good but not nearly as memorable. For sides, the mashed potatoes were fantastic and easily one of the best parts of the meal. The creamed spinach had good flavor but leaned a bit too heavy and rich for our taste. The dessert cart was a nice touch and added to the overall experience; we went with the crème brûlée, which was a perfect, classic ending. Overall, a great experience with wonderful service, a few standout dishes, and only minor critiques. Would happily return.

This well known spot is a polished classic steakhouse. My first visit here in 2018 made a great impression and the place is still firing on all cylynders. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere is great... high end but comfortable.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Many types of seating options... sit in the bar, in the dining room, at the food bar in front of the kitchen... there's also a private room off the main room.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The wine list is one of the best in town... very impressive... full of gems, especially if you have money to burn. There a few affordable choices as well. Excellent wines by the glass. I'm often disappointed at high-end steakhouses... but this place delivers. Not wild about everything here, but overall a great place. Atmosphere, service so great... most of the chow is excellent. My Prime NY Strip... perfectly cooked and amazing quality. Filets were a big hit with my guests. Sides deliver... excellent Mashed Potatoes... Spinach, Brussels, Mac & Cheese too. Crab Cakes ok, not my favorite preparation... I like more simple crab focused, this too fried. Lobster Deviled Eggs not impressive, need to rethink the prep... tiny piece of lobster and a jar of egg yoke to spoon in... kinda dumb idea and not enough lobster. Great Shrimp Cocktail, salads are excellent. Desserts are insanely great. They bring a cart by the table to tempt you. I can't think how anyone could refuse some of these treats... they all look unbelievable. Everything we tried was great, esp. the Cheesecake... It's about 6 inches high, amazing graham cracker crust... flanked with pieces of vanilla chocolate... with a vanilla sauce. Enough for 4 people, esp. after a big meal. The menu is a bit pricey... but worth it. I give a slight edge to this Pappas Brothers over their Westheimer location. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Pappas Bros Steakhouse is definitely the perfect choice to have the most extraordinary dining experience in Houston. Valet? Amazing staff Incredibly delicious food Best cocktails We came for a birthday celebration and Marlon was our server, he made sure we got the best diner experience. Perfect restaurant for any type of celebration or business diners. They age all their meat cuts for at least 20 days to guarantee you will get the best flavor. Oh! And did I mention the bar is

Our waiter Greg was nothing short of amazing! This was my first time coming here for restaurant week and not only did Greg really make us want to return but so did the overall food quality. We called last minute to see if they could squeeze us in for a reservation and Angela was able to make it happen! Greg was super knowledgeable about not only the menu but the restaurant and educated us since we did tell him it was our first time! Told him I was pregnant & he recommended pregnancy safe options to eat (no raw seafood). We started off with there turtle gumbo & Cesar salad. However, the Cesar salad was absolutely horrible. It tasted like they picked out the leaves from the garden and put it straight on a plate without washing them. The salad looks fully covered in dressing but it had absolutely ZERO flavor. The dressing did nothing at all to the salad. Definitely do not recommend the Cesar salad at all. This however did not dictate the rest of my meal being disappointed on just the salad. My husband did enjoy his turtle gumbo! I got the 8oz filet and my husband got the 10oz NY strip and they were both amazing. Cooked perfectly to medium rare and seasoned great. We got the French green beans it could have had a little more flavor or butter perhaps but still tasted crunchy and good. For dessert we had the key lime pie & cheesecake. On par with how it should taste like. Now for parking there is valet parking and honestly the only option unless you want to find parking throughout downtown. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is super dark inside but very intimate for a romantic dinner or family dinner.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It was extremely busy on a Saturday night so highly recommend making a reservation. Thank you so much Greg for the amazing service we can't wait to come back!

Incredible experience! I've come here many times and always have incredible service and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the lighting and environment is very comforting and beautiful[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. I had the filet mignon medium rare and it was so buttery and delicious. We had the Brussels sprouts and potatoes as sides and they're incredible. Waiter was so nice and attentive. 10/10 we love it here!

First time and wow. Blown away by how yummy the food was and how amazing the service was as well!! Shared a porterhouse and it was cooked perfectly. Skillet potatoes and broccolini on the side. Desert head chocolate cake for me and creme brûlée for my husband. Both amazing. Was celebrating an early birthday and as a treat they comped the cake. How sweet. The lychee martini was a fabulous way to get the meal started! So good.

Where do I even start? I visited for Houston Restaurant Week and, for the most part, thoroughly enjoyed my experience. I was excited because I had heard good things about this steakhouse. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The only annoying thing was being seated way at the front, close to other guests waiting to be seated.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Anyway, it was a prefix menu, and I got the house salad, steak, and cheesecake. The salad was light, flavorful, and crunchy. I asked for a well-done steak, and it was not cooked to the point of being cremated, which was an A+ in my book. But it was a bit underseasoned. The mashed potatoes were buttery and delicious. The asparagus was, well, an asparagus. Nothing too mouthwatering there. The highlight of my entire meal was actually the cheesecake. The pictures do not capture its size. My only regret is that I was unable to take it to go since I was too full past the point of gluttony and could not safely store it. Overall, I enjoyed my meal and would definitely visit again!

It also felt like a third space of sorts, because I was hanging out with a well connected friend, and everyone who came in was a who's who of the Houston restaurant/nightlife scene, and gathered for what turned out to be an unplanned hang out. They were hosting a vinyl swap night, so folks were coming in to peruse the many boxes of vinyls, and a DJ spun classic r&b tunes. I hear that on some nights they make space for a dance floor so people can show off their best two step in the space. The drinks were great and well priced but the wine selection is what got me. I was told they were inspired by Japan's many vinyl listening bars-- having been to many across Japan as well as many NYC imitators, this place actually impressively comes close. Regarding the food, the Frisée Salad was pretty good, well dressed and flavorful. The chicken sandwich was okay. The batter was crispy and flaky but it had no flavor. What made it a lot better was the coleslaw that brought a great deal of tang and moisture. The steak was not quite for me. It came on a bed of sauce that was flavorful with fresh veggies but it did not go well with the steak. Perhaps chicken would've suited better. The steak itself was dry and quite chewy. For dessert we had the carrot cake tres leches which was decent. The carrot cake flavor was there but the moisture from the cake was not fully spread in the cake. Overall nothing here was bad but with the plethora of restaurants in the Houston area I can't justify recommending or returning.

We had the ribeyes, mash potato, mac and cheese, green beans, and French fries. The steak was seasoned perfectly and grilled to the perfect temperature to my liking. Service was amazing-- we loved our waiter who was a combination of polite, funny, and knowledgeable, and everyone gave us a smile. All the dishes were beautifully presented and flavorful but definitely on the heavier side. - Beet salad (5/5)-- wow, never had a beet salad like this one before! So much flavor with a tanginess from vinegar sweetened by the blueberries and beets. The beets didn't taste very earthy (aka like dirt) compared to most beet salad. This was really well executed :) - Caesar salad (3.5/5)-- Credence's spin on Caesar, which according to my Caesar salad pro diner, didn't really taste like Caesar salad. Also very tangy and tart but the pro still enjoyed it as a salad dish. - Roasted cabbage (4/5)-- big fan of the way they roasted this, perfect tenderness without being cabbage mush! Definitely a heavy dish, especially for a vegetable option, as it was swimming in a butter cream sauce that started to congeal as it cooled off. Would choose this more as an indulgent appetizer rather than a healthy veggie option. I wonder if one could ask for the sauce on the side... - Tuna tostada (3.5/5)-- if you like strong flavors, this one packs a punch. The gochujang aioli beneath the tuna is really concentrated, making it difficult to taste the actual tuna. There's a bit of heat but thankfully I wouldn't say it was spicy. Fun to try. The tostada itself was very dense and almost a bit bread-y versus a crispy chip texture. - Crab fried rice (4/5)-- comes with lobster foam that is mixed table side and a generous amount of crabmeat lumps. The rice actually had a nice texture without being too... grainy / individualized, but it was too salty for me. - Akaushi Wagyu beef (4.5/5)-- loved the texture which was tender but with some chew (was expecting more of a melt-in-the-mouth texture though) and the veggies that it came with. It was heavily salted, too much so for me. Would've been perfect with less salt since there's already a chimichurri sauce with it. - Peanut butter tart (4.5/5)-- peanut butter lovers rejoice! The chocolate filling was rich, thick, and sweet which was complemented nicely with the whipped cream (not sweet at all). The peanut flavor really shined. The crust didn't have much of a taste by itself and was sandy in texture, not sure if on purpose or over-baked and dried out. Either way, the tart looked impressive when it arrived and was delectable-- my favorite bite of the night! Overall a nice experience! Although there was a mess up and the rest of our two salads and crab rice wasn't packed with our other food to take home; I was pretty sad about that since it was quite a bit of food (and $$). I might return for that peanut butter tart, but everything else was too heavy and too salty for me. I'm personally not a huge butter fan, but if you are, definitely make a reservation for a special occasion or date!
