We moved here 2 years ago on Memorial Day after being away from home serving in the Marines across the US. We love the Toyota brand and that is our go to for vehicles. Papas Toyota is the closest location to our house so we started getting services for our 2016 Toyota Tundra and brand new Toyota 4 runner. We have had numerous issues with service on our Tundra being serviced at Papas Toyota. We are not mechanics - we trust when the services are recommended BY TOYOTA and always are willing to pay for services provided. We GO TO Toyota because we have TOYOTA VEHICLES. we could get services for much cheaper elsewhere but we stick with the dealership TRUSTING that they will treat our vehicles with care. We took our 2016 Toyota Tundra in for routine service which included tire rotation. When we left, we ended up coming right back because there was a serious issue causing knocking and inability to steer. When we returned and discussed the issue, Toyota admitted that the tires were not seated appropriately and replaced ALL lug-nuts and did an alignment service ALL FOR FREE because it was THEIR PROBLEM. Fast forward to our next routine service - when we head out on the highway, the tundra steering wheel starts shaking when hitting 60mph...so we return...it wasn't like that before the service so we are not accepting additional issues that were not present before the service (especially given new found trust issues with this dealership). When we return, the service manager, GINO, essentially accuses us for trying to get free services! He says 'what do you want us to do? I already gave you a free alignment service back on xx date' - we say 'yeah! For an issue that YOUR service department caused!' He tells us the issue we are having is because of our wheels being 'after-market' and tells us that they don't 'work on after-market tires.' I know for a fact that not everyone buys tires from the dealership - that cannot be true. After no resolution, Gino accuses us of wanting a free handout and tells us to take our vehicles elsewhere. We went to Seeger Toyota and had the issue reassessed and explained the situation, we needed a tire realignment which they were happy to do!! Given that we are also in the market for a new vehicle, we are happily purchasing a new Toyota Sienna from Seeger!! We are more than happy to drive the extra distance to be treated with RESPECT at Seeger! The service manager GINO needs to take a class in how to treat customers - he literally was on the phone shouting at my husband telling us he just wanted stuff for free. NO, we want our Toyota vehicles to be taken care of properly at a TOYOTA dealership. read more

I called to get the factory build sheet of a 2024 RAV4 I'm receiving as a company car. Admittedly, I did not purchase it at this dealership. However, looking up and sending a build sheet takes a maximum of 2 minutes and a Toyota dealership is the easiest and quickest way to get it. I was told the staff was "way too busy" to help me followed by an awkward silence. They could have provided me with an email if that was truly the case so I could get the build sheet that way. Every interaction with the public is an opportunity to sell, and if I was pleased with the customer service here and enjoy my RAV4, maybe I'd be inclined to walk into Pappas on a Saturday in the future to upgrade my personal car to a new Toyota. A family member of mine recently had an outstanding experience at Bommarito Toyota. If I like my company car, Bommarito has my business for a new car. read more

I brought my 2022 RAV4 in for a straightforward warranty replacement of both front struts--a standard 2-to-3-hour job. It took this dealership TWO FULL DAYS to actually complete it due to pure incompetence and terrible scheduling. On day one, they kept my car all day and never even touched it, claiming "it was hot" and they couldn't get to it. When I asked for a rental car so I could get to work the next day since they failed to do the work they scheduled, they had the nerve to try and charge me $67 a day. I refused and was forced to reschedule. For the second appointment, I explicitly requested the car be done by 1:00 PM. I called at 1:00 PM--they hadn't even started. I called back at 3:00 PM and was told the job was "kicking their butt back there." I didn't get my vehicle back until 5:00 PM. An organized service department should easily be able to swap front struts in a morning. Instead, I lost two days dealing with their scheduling failures, poor communication, and excuses. Took our Toyota GR86 to Pappas for an oil change and the 1-year service. They put one of those oil change reminder stickers on the windshield, gave us a receipt, and sent us on our way. Then a week later, we get a call saying the oil change was never actually done. Seriously? So what did we wait an hour for the first time? How do you give someone a receipt and a sticker like everything's taken care of, but skip the actual oil change? That's not just frustrating, it's dangerous. If they forget something that basic, what else are they missing? We had to bring the car back and wait another hour. And honestly, who even knows if they did it this time? We've bought three cars from this dealership, but after this mess (and a bad experience with our last purchase), we're done. I won't be bringing any of our Toyotas back here once the warranty is up. Bought a new car. Ordered it _ no problem- made an appointment to pick up the 62,000$ 4-Runner. Got there on time and it took over an hour to see the finance guy. 20 min would be ok, 30 min... 40 min... should we get lunch?... 50min gosh only knows 1 hour - we are in it for the long haul 1:17 minutes later we sat down for paperwork- to write a check. Omg Showed that they had the sale and didn't care about me or my time. I guess they don't care about the customers. A call and we are busy- can you come in at 2pm would have been fine. A customer since 1987. I purchased my brand new 1987 Celica here and my 2012 Corolla. I'm going to drive that puppy until the wheels fall off, but I might be in the market for another in a few years. I needed a new clock spring for my car when the horn stopped working. It's really not even a major repair, I've never had to have a major repair on this vehicle, thankfully. But I can tell you that I had two quotes from other auto shops, and this dealership out quoted them all by almost $200. So don't assume that the dealer is going to charge more. They were very reasonable, and their service department is very professional and friendly. Sometimes you have to call back a few times to get a quote, but I guess that's just because they are so busy. Once I received my quote, I was able to schedule my appointment right away and got the work done quickly. They even finished the work in one hour instead of the three hour window they gave me. I left and had breakfast and they were done by the time I finished my meal! Highly recommend. read more

Rude employee who interrupted me multiple times after discussing price. I wanted to write about my experience at Pappas Toyota and specifically with the employee "Smilin'" Mike Wagner. I put a deposit down on a used car over the phone and went in a few days later to look at it. Once I was satisfied with the vehicle, I went into Mike's office to discuss price. I told him what I wanted to pay and he became very rude and standoffish afterwards, telling me I wasted his time with such a lowball offer and "made him stay late" (which I made it clear in the texts that I was not likely going to buy tonight as I had to secure financing with my bank first). I told him I would like to still order one in the future but he interrupted me, said "have a nice night", and got up to leave his office. He's about as sleazy a car salesman as I've ever met, down to the ridiculous name - "Smilin'" Mike - which of course he's only smiling until the rubber meets the road. I can't speak for the rest of the employees, but I'd avoid this dealer simply for employing rude salespeople. After all, usually where there's smoke, there's fire. read more

I purchased a car from Pappas Toyota last week. It was a pre-owned Toyota Camry. I worked with an excellent salesman, but my overall experience is one that deserves less than one star. I typically finance my vehicles through my own lender and have never had a problem purchasing a car that way. In fact, it is very easy and convenient for me, the car buyer. However, I was informed that due to the shortage of used cars Pappas would not sell me a car if it was not financed through them. I thought it odd, but they got me a little lower interest rate than my lender so I continued with the purchase. I was pre-approved after a quick online application and told I would need to come in to sign paperwork (it would take one hour). Mike Weaver took me through the paperwork. Everything was going fine until he got to the extended warranty, key replacement insurance, gap insurance, and extra window protection (Crystal Fusion Window Protection) sales pitch. I declined all of the extras. Then the bullying began. I might mention I am a woman and I was by myself. He said, "Oh, you are a gambler are you." "So, you really don't want any additional coverage." "You need to be realistic, this car is likely going to have some sort of problem." "OK, well if the car breaks down don't come crying to me." "Why do you think we have over 125 technicians on staff, because cars break down." "There are cameras in the windows of this car and if one of them breaks it is going to cost you a lot of money." He shook his head in disgust at me and then made sure he pointed out with a nasty tone that the ONLY thing I was getting was the "free" warranty. After I refused a second time, he offered to make the warranty "cheaper". I still refused. He slammed around papers, sighed and acted like I committed a federal offense. I appreciate someone who gives me information and allows me to may an informed decision. He was being a bully. I left the dealership feeling like I had been in the principal's office. I should have walked out instead of staying and putting up with the verbal insults. It won't happen again. read more

I took my Toyota Tundra to their service department for an oil change and tire rotation. I didn't buy my truck from them, and I'd never been in there for service before. But you would have never known because they treated me as though I had. I had a slight issue with the tires after the service (to no fault of theirs). I took my 2018 Camry to Pappas Toyota in St. Peters, MO as I was having issues with the HVAC system. Pappas service department analyzed the car and told me the issue was a failure in the HVAC assembly that was located under the dash. The diagnostic team identified the error by the code it received from the OBD-11 port. The service team provided me with the error code and the part number in question. The estimate came back and parts/labor would cost (with tax) $4,695. This seemed very high, and I was interested in options. The service manager quickly asked if I was interested in selling my car. If I were interested in selling my car Pappa's would be interested since their used car inventory was low. I was then informed the "failed part" was not available and it may take some time to locate the part. I called to a few other dealerships around town and the part cost varied from $1300 t0 $2200 from one dealership to another. This process was several months long as there was not any availability of the part in North America. After calling Toyota North America corporate I learned Toyota was not seeing an issue with the part in question that Pappas reported failing. Finally, I expanded my search to another dealership (Dealership #5) in the St. Louis Metro area. After 5 minutes on the phone, the service/parts team estimated that it was not the part Pappas recommended because that part was a total assembly that included several other parts and they had not ever seen a failure in this larger HVAC assembly. There assumption (Dealership #5) was a failed solenoid and I agreed to drop my car at their shop for analysis. The service team from the final Dealership #5, reported that they identified the failed part by the OBD-11 code and it was in fact only a solenoid not the entire HVAC assembly. The part in question cost $290 vs. Pappas quote of $2,200 for the incorrectly diagnosed part. Labor for the repair from Dealership #5 was estimated at 8 hours vs 15 from Pappas. In the end, the labor estimated for the correctly identified part was only 6.5 hours. vs 15 from Pappas. The final total cost to have my car repaired at Dealership #5 was $1,300 vs. Pappa's quote for $4,500. A difference of almost $3,400. Keep in mind, when a consumer catches fraud in process the easy answer, when confronting a shop or dealership is "it was misdiagnosed." However, when the offer to buy the car is the next best option and immediately offered to the consumer--this is a red flag. There is a used car shortage in the industry and when repairs seem too high it may make sense to sell the car for a newer model. When dealerships manipulate this process with consumers to gain an advantage it is unethical and sometimes fraud. Be careful when you go to any dealership and always get a second, third or fourth opinion. Part 2 Follow-Up: I had to follow-up my review to respond to Pappas Toyota reply relating to my review. I had responded to their reply to my review and my response was deleted from Google reviews. So, I am addressing the reply here where it can not be deleted. Pappas Toyota claimed their technician made a mistake and did not work at their shop anymore. However, since the repair was so large I had several conversations with the project leader (D.S., who still is working at Pappas.) Also, when I was ready to repair the car, I had another conversation with D.S. to confirm this was actually the right repair. Absolutely terrible dealership. I called a few days in advance to request if I would be approved for a Highlander or a 3rd row seating vehicle. Mike Wagner happily agreed and said we won't have any issues. I live almost two hours away from there and it was beyond frustrating that upon arriving I waited over 3 &1/2 hours to hear anything back about two different vehicles. Mr. Wagner lied to me and left me in the back to suffer. Mad and frustrated, I decided to go to CarMax right down the road, & within 30mins I was approved and ready to leave in a new vehicle. They told me "We don't usually sell these kind of cars but we have to keep inventory on the lot" "You made a huge mistake purchasing this car.. my daughter would never make a mistake like that" Angelo yelled at me, used curse words and acted embarrassingly rude because he knew a legal bind was over my head. Pappas under quoted my sister in laws elderly mother by thousands of dollars when she wanted to trade in. Same with a friend of mine who recently tried trading in a Toyota.. she even has long time family friends who work there. Thankfully they didn't use pappas. Please don't make the same mistake I did! These sales men should have upsold me in a reliable vehicle instead of robbing me thousands of dollars they knew on a vehicle that had a ton of issues. Terrible sales mindset. While waiting some other gentlemen working there were boisterous in their insults for "someone trying to trade in a Tesla". Me. They were quite literally talking shit about me as I went to trade a car in and attempt to get one of theirs. I've never heard of a sales team so immature and unprofessional. How someone, very likely a manger as well with how confident and loud he spoke, could sit there and knowingly talk down on someone who's clearly in their facility is beyond me. What an embarrassment to this dealership. It seems like they have a culture where it's completely acceptable to talk down on people and make fun of the very people who give them their business. Why? This review is only on the service department since I haven't bought a car here yet with yet being the key word. I've brought both the Mrs Highlander here as well as my Tundra and each and every time these guys have been terrific. My most recent visit I was given a wait time of an hour and boom one hour on the nose they were done. A big upside is they really take care of customers that are waiting for their cars. With big comfy chairs and big screens it's the way to sit back and enjoy the wait. But there's a caveat beyond that, they have a hostess that greets you and provides you with a list of snacks and drinks gratis. I enjoyed an apple juice and a blueberry granola bar. What an amazing experience I had dealing with Pappas Toyota, from the start to the finish. Dave Dubois was a outstanding! First he helped in answering every question on the new Hybrid Tacomas, even when information was slowly releasing upon first announcement. He then helped lead me through the process of securing a place in the waiting process. While waiting for the trucks release he quickly and attentively answered all my questions. Once one arrived he walked me through the process even staying after his shift. Dave is truly an employee who loves what he does and cares for his customers. Even going above and beyond his job description to seek out answers that didn't relate to selling the vehicle. Brett Bales was another outstanding employee who explained and led me through the warranties and sales. He even went on my behalf to talk to other departments about after marked parts. Unfortunately to date, 6/5/2020, I have had no response from Mike Pappas regarding a letter of complaint I sent to him in July 2018. Normally I liked the service department at Pappas but that time I found my vehicle was not reassembled correctly and had to make another appointment to bring it back so it could be rectified. Met with my service writer Paul and after telling him I was not happy with the treatment of my vehicle and that I had to come back he had the audacity to reply " your not happy, Im not happy either." never once offering an apology to me while completing the paper work or when he came to get me to tell me the work was finished. I also had to wait an ddtional 30 minutes after my appt time because apparently the mechanic who did it wrong was the one who had to fix it and he was not at work yet. How wrong is that! I've been a Toyota owner for the past 30 years and currently own 5 Toyota's. On 3 April 20, I bought a 2018 Toyota Tundra from your dealership and my salesman was Barry. When I picked up the truck it was nicely prepped. The fuel tank was only half full, which I found odd, when you spend $35k for a used truck. Barry said it was empty so he only put in a half a tank. I've never experienced this before. I went to the nearest gas station and added the additional $25 in gas. When I got home I noticed the small plastic shift lock cap (cover) was missing. I notified Barry and he said he'd get me one. I contacted him weekly after that and he never followed through. It's an $8 part! My point with this cis simple. It's the service after the sale that differentiates the good and bad salesman and dealerships. I waited patiently over a month for an $8 part that will never arrive. Mike, I contacted you last week and never heard from you. I also left two messages with the used car sales manager. No response. read more

We have had no dealing with the service department, which appears to be the major complaints on Yelp, but we did buy a used car for our daughter last Saturday from salesman Neil Smith and he was very helpful and kind. He showed us a couple cars in our stated price range and one a bit higher. We ended up buying the one a bit higher. Much safer vehicle and less milage. It was in great shape, and he told us later that he wasn't going to push it (because it was more than we wanted to spend) but he was glad we decided to go that route. And so are we. Neil was great and when we went to talk to Brett Bales, Finance Manager, to write the check, he was great as well. Nothing but good things to say about our experience. read more

Had Pappas install new struts/shocks to give my 2007 Rav4 a smoother ride plus check it over to make sure it is good to go for a long road trip. Got their usual good service with all my questions answered. I had also asked them to check out the spare tire that hangs off the rear end since it is the tire that came with the car 16 years ago. They had the perfect chance to sell me a tire but they told me it looked fine. I have all my service done here since they keep good records and send me emails when they think something should be checked out. I plan on keeping this car until it dies and they have been good partners in helping me achieve that goal. read more

I bought my 2007 Camry Hybrid from Pappas and love it. Gino M. is "my" service manager and has been from the beginning. The service is fast and friendly and I trust the dealership to be honest about what I need when I bring my car in. I get offered a rental car if the service will take a long time. If not there is a menu of water, coffee, soft drinks and fruit and snacks to choose from if I wait in the comfortable lounge area. Not sure if I would go back to talk with another sales rep. However I do know, if I do, I will stay far away from Barry. I've never met a more unprofessional, cocky, egotistical, creep of a sales rep. He mentioned multiple times to me and my bf how he found me attractive. It got to a point I was visibly uncomfortable. During the discussion on financing he calculated wrong by a few thousands, luckily the mistake was caught right away. Last but not least in order to hear back we had to call, which a co worker of his had to answer his phone to tell us he'd find him. He then text us what we were approved for which was an stupid high number. Jokingly respond with a who has that kinda money, and he responds "me." If that's the way he does business I can see his career ending sooner rather than later. Hopefully they have there standards in salesmen set a little higher because Barry has the bar on the ground. read more

From the purchase of our Prius V to the routine maintenance it has needed the service has been exceptional! The sales team was no pressure; we couldn't find the exact color and features off their lot, and the sales team did a nationwide search and found it for us. The finance department is very professional as well. They did an extensive search to find the best deal on financing for us and thanks to the lower rate, our 2017 car will be paid off in 6 more months! All our maintenance appointments have been a seamless process. The staff is courteous and they get the work done in a timely manner. Today, I had a very disturbing experience with sales representative Jim Adam. Mr. Adam stated that our loan was approved, but he was shocked that it went through so quickly. He also stated he thought they would have had to submit our loan various lenders, which was very insulting. Mr. Adam was condescending to my husband over the phone and out of his mouth, told us we wasted his time. He made this statement in the presence of the credit manager without correction.
