What a nice little local comfort food place. I was immediately greeted by Terry with a handshake when I got to the table, very nice server enjoyed his humor and helpfulness. Got the daily special, which was catfish cooked my way fried shrimp and two sides. Everything was good, the shrimp and the catfish seemed like it was already cooked and just warmed up, but it was still a good flavor so if it was fresh, I would've given a five instead of four. I'm thinking they were pre-cooked due to the fact that it was the daily special. I will go back and try the grilled catfish or salmon next time since the flavor was very good.

What an amazing time we had. Drew was our server and he did an outstanding job. We never wanted for anything. His service was impeccable. The food was great as usual and the restaurant was decorated all festive for the holidays. The ambiance was very family friendly.

Everything we ate here was top notch fried pickles and jalapeños; Came with ranch and horseradish sauce. Perfectly fried and the sauce was 10/10. Chicken fried steak; a fan favorite. So tender, well seasoned, and huge. Fried shrimp with blackened fish; shrimp had good batter, slightly tough but delicious. Fish was the star, so perfectly cooked. We got broccoli cheddar rice and macaroni. I could have eaten just sides and still ranked this place 5 stars.

It has been a while since my last review so I thought I would update it. Not much has changed which is good. My most recent visit was for the chicken fried steak entree that comes with mashed potatoes and gravy and with a side salad for $18. The salad was still good but I noticed that it no longer comes with shredded cheese on top like my picture of it from 7 years ago. Too bad. The CFS was large on the plate and tasted good along with the spuds. This is one of the better CFS's in the area. The waitress was prompt and friendly. Pappy's is a good place to eat.

Mixed fajitas for one. The fajitas were definitely tasty, however, the rice was undercooked and the beans were bland. Server was nice and attentive.

There are a lot of different food spots to choose from in the Energy Corridor. This was one of the only restaurants that was still open for different past 8 PM. I was surprised to see that it was EMPTY for dinner when I came by at 7:45. There were probably 4 other guests in the whole restaurant. I sat down at the bar area and Michael came to take care of me. Service was a bit slow which was surprising because no one else was there... took a while to get my water and to place my order. I got the Chicken Florentine with the Texas Smashed Potatoes and Fried Okra. I then couldn't pass up homemade blackberry cobbler for dessert which hit home with a nice scoop of vanilla on top! There's plenty of bar seating and regular dining, it was just quiet and slow. Seems like a good local watering hole to check out.

Service was very good here as is the atmosphere. Had the chicken fried steak and ribs/sausage plate. The portions are big and everything was really tasty. The ribs were super tender.

Public Service announcement!! If Erica is bartending make sure you get a seat at her bar!! The bartender Erica is amazing, we came for a relaxed evening and is super friendly and welcoming offering great conversation and yummy drinks while making sure the whole bars cared for. The wait staff is awesome and very friendly too. Even when crammed with work they never make you feel bad for a question and offer a smile. The foods always that home comfort goodness and the atmosphere is a western home. It's clean and they have great music playing. My only complaint is the actual manager working tonight. I had to ask because all of the workers were busting their butts and working really hard and Dave sat at the front not helping at all which seemed really weird for a manager to not help. Normally places I go to if things need any help the managers don't have an issue. He comes across as lazy and disinterested so if you ever need a manager hope DAVE isn't working. I still am giving it five stars because other than the uncaring lazy manager the workers food and drinks were awesome and I will definitely return to sit at the bar with Erica and have my margarita.

You place your order, they hand you a number and your drink glasses, and you grab your flatware over by the drink station. They have these cute little trays to carry your cups, napkins, and utensils so you are not awkwardly trying to juggle everything back to the table. After you sit down, they bring your food right out to you, so no waiting around the counter. The deviled eggs were delicious, honestly some of the best I have ever had at a restaurant. They come topped with a tiny piece of crispy bacon. They do offer fried deviled eggs, but I am more traditional, so that is what I went with. You can get an order of 3 or 6. We went with 3, and the second I tasted them, I wished we had gotten 6. For my main, I got the fried catfish and asked for it extra crispy. It came out piping hot, served with homemade tartar sauce, cocktail sauce, and two sides. They use a cornmeal batter just like my mom used to make, and I absolutely loved it. The tartar sauce was great, too. I would honestly go back just for the fish. For sides, I picked the greens and French fries. The greens tasted just like real greens should. That took me straight back to my mom's cooking, and my mom could seriously throw down in the kitchen. The fries tasted fresh and homemade, definitely not out of a frozen bag. I am usually not one to clean my plate and almost always have leftovers, but the portions here were perfect. I ate all my catfish and about half the fries and greens. My friend got the chicken pot pie and said it was good. I took a bite, and while it was not bad, it was nowhere near as good as my catfish. For his sides, the mac and cheese was good, but the green beans really did not have much flavor at all. Overall, it was a great meal. I can't wait to go back and try a few other things on the menu.

It was a beautiful day, so it would have been the perfect day to eat outside if you like that. I'm an eat indoors kind of person, but if you like to eat outside, they do have a few tables for that. I was meeting a friend for lunch and she suggested Ember & Green. We really couldn't decide what to order, so we decided to order a few things and share them. We started off with the Persian Cucumber Sald. It had Persian cucumbers, heirloom cherry tomatoes, red onions, and Kalamata olives with oil and lemon dressing and topped with parsley and feta cheese. Let me tell you, thats lemon dressing was delicious! It went so well with the cucumbers. Next we ordered Blackened salmon with lemon butter and avocado salsa, served with charred broccolini, roasted carrots and potatoes on a bed of cilantro green pea quinoa. I'm really not a huge fan of salmon, but I'm trying to like it more by trying it different ways. The spices that they put on the salmon were really good, not too spicy, but also, not bland. It was also cooked perfectly. Oh, and that lemon butter... that lemon butter made the meal if you ask me. It was so good. So good in fact, I had to try and make salmon with lemon butter at him the very next week. Mine didn't come out as good as Ember & Greens, but it was decent. That just means that I need to leave the cooking to the professional. For dessert we decided to share the Skillet Cookie. Its a house made chocolate chip cookie baked in a cast iron skillet and topped with Amy's Mexican Vanilla Ice Cream and chocolate sauce. This was the only thing that we ordered that was a nope. I dont know what happened, but it didn't seem like it was cooked at all in the middle. We took a few bites, that was all we could eat of it. All and all, it was a good experience and I will go back. I'll just skip dessert next time.

Every drink was flavorful, well balanced, and strong without being overpowering. The flight was a great way to try multiple flavors. For appetizers, the salmon bites were seasoned perfectly and fried just right -- crispy on the outside and tender inside. They came with a chipotle aioli, which was already fire, but dipping them in the bourbon glaze took them to another level. The chicken tacos were fully loaded, flavorful, and definitely didn't miss. The entrees were the real stars. The oxtails with cabbage and rice were absolutely amazing -- fall-off-the-bone tender and packed with flavor. Easily my favorite dish of the night. The southern fried chicken plate was also top tier and came with three sides: mashed potatoes, yams, and mac and cheese. All three sides were seasoned well and tasted like true comfort food. There were a mix of options but decided to go with the bulgogi deluxe and grabbed a barely tea drink from the fridge. It was just as expected and more. Lots of banchan variety to give the different textures and flavors. The bulgogi is well made, not dry and soaks in that traditional flavor. She then came and took our order which was spinach dip for the appetizer, chicken tenders + 8oz top sirloin steak w/ fries & mashed potatoes, and chicken fried chicken with broccoli & cheddar and loaded mashed potatoes. The drinks still sat with melted ice. I tried getting her attention multiple times but she was still hanging out at the bar.
