We moved to Plano a year ago and this was our first choice for doggy daycare and we loved it right away! Our dog Sugar runs to the door when we ask if she wants to go to daycare! As a newer customer, I was not aware of all of the policies. When I arrived to get my two girls bathed, they advised their bordatella shots were expired as they required updated Board to tell a vaccinations every six months. They were a couple months expired. I inquired as to why they didn't notify me because they notified me of another vaccination that was due, and they said it was supposed to be automated. It was missed and I was not notified prior to the appointment. It was two days before Christmas with company coming and I was less stranded. No accommodations, no alternatives, no solutions. I asked to speak to a manager and was advised that I could not. They gave me a card with an email address. I requested to speak to a manager so I could get it resolved so I can get them in but was refused. I guess management doesn't want to speak to clients. Icing on the cake is that my vet graciously got us in within 10 minutes of leaving the lodge, and when I called to advise that they were getting updated Bordetella vaccinations and asked if I could bring them back in, I was told no because their bather preferred for all the dogs to be there on time, even though it was them that pushed me out to begin with. I will not be returning simply for the poor, very poor customerservice aspect of their business. read more

Our sweet Glory Be gets her nails done monthly at Pappy's. And by done I mean she gets them cut and dremeled smooth - all for $15. She also gets lots of treats, compliments and kisses, so she pretty much thinks the staff are there for her. We think she's right. They do take walk ins but at limited hours. I am SO pleased with the care my dog received this weekend at Pappy's! The employees are lovely and you can tell they genuinely care about your pet. The location is convenient and extremely clean. My dog is normally very uncomfortable at boarding, but I could tell he was not nervous (or desperate to leave) here. This was the first time at any boarding he actually ate all of his meals, and that is HUGE for me! We will absolutely be returning here and I will recommend to all my local friends! Picked my dog up this morning after boarding with Pappy's in North Plano on Coit Road. She looked terrible. There was so much goop in her eyes and her face is very stained. She rubbed her face on my shirt all the way home and when we got home she was rubbing her face on the rug and yelped in pain a few times trying to get her eyes clean. I am super disappointed in the lack of care my dog appears to have received while she was there. Spoke with a manager, Mallory, who assured me they cleaned her eyes and took good care of her but based on how she looked when I picked her up I can guarantee she was neglected at some level. It wasn't just one day's worth of eye goop in her eyes and all over her face. UPDATE 7/29/22 After posting this review I did take Gia to the vet and have done a one week follow up. At the initial vet visit the vet noted injury to her eye and a low grade fever. Something happened while she was at Pappy's to damage her eye and she also developed some sort of infection while there. She was there 9 nights. The most we'd ever left her has been 5 nights and we'll never leave her for long periods again. She could have scratched her own eye and damaged it, or someone could have been careless with her. We won't know but what I do know is that Pappys showed an extreme lack of care by handing me back a dog that could barely open her eyes with not even a comment about how terrible her eyes looked. And I don't believe her eyes were wiped efficiently every evening because the amount of goup in her eyes the morning I picked her up compared to the following morning after a thorough cleaning was quite significant. Regarding eyedrops...in the 8 years we've had Gia she's never needed them so the insinuation that if maybe we'd provided eyedrops that this wouldn't have happened is slightly offensive. If you board your dog here and nothing goes awry you'll probably be fine, but if your pet encounters a problem then expect Pappy's might drop the ball in providing adequate care and communication. Oh, and now I'm in $400 for boarding and near $600 with the vet so that's fun. read more

Update They will reply to negative reviews. They will also lie about what really happened. They said my dogs harness blended in. Very weird considering it was neon green and he is a black fur dog. And I had to personally call to get it replaced. That was after pick up, because upon pick up they didn't offer any restitution. As far as altercations, they called and notified me that two other dogs were actually fighting and my dogs ended up involved somehow. But the two dogs who were regulars got preferential treatment while my pups were deemed the problem. Seems like they will say whatever they need to so they can seem like to the good guys online. Ours dogs are regular daycare goers at other facilities and have never had any issues. It's seems like severe negligence is a big issue at the Coit location. I dropped my pups off for the first time today. I was under the impression the first day was free. They actually tell you that, but charge you if you don't have a promotion card when you pick up your pets. On top of that both of my pups had on a harness when dropped off. They only took off one of them and left the other on. It was chewed off because they weren't actually paying attention any of the dogs. We were charged for daycare but were told after pick up that they were actually just boarded for the day because they didn't feel like the yard was big enough for them to play in. Seems like they don't like new dogs at this location. If you haven't taken your pups there yet, consider yourself lucky. read more

I found the Richardson Pappy's pet lodge online and saw that it was much cheaper than the Pooch Hotel. I read some reviews and found that they(Pappy's) actually take the dogs outside to potty on individual walks and they have "nap time" everyday! I have been taking my (now) 2.5 year old Great Dane there 2-3 days a week for the last year. Not only has Aria (my Great Dane obviously) come home happy and exhausted from daycare, she also did sooooo much better with overnight stays. In the past, we have used Petsmart for weekend trips, but she always seemed super stressed and hardly ate. This location(maybe all of them??) has a groomer on sight. It is so convenient to drop Aria off for daycare and pick her up with her nails done (or bathed, groomed, etc.). Also, they have webcams so you can peek in on your pup playing while you are at work/away on vacation. Aria loves playing in the large room and is usually found either running around with another pup or attached to the human in the room. They use "time outs" as punishment and seem to give good quality one-on-one time with each dog. read more

I am really thankful for this place. The entire staff is kind and helpful. It's easy to see they all care about animals very much and really enjoy taking care of them. One of my dogs is rather nervous and they knew just how to make her feel safe and comfortable. My dogs have stayed with them twice now and it's been nothing but great. My dogs are like family to me so I hate leaving them behind when I go some where, but I can rest easy knowing they are in such great hands until I come home. read more

They are GREAT at the Plano, Coit Rd Pappys!!! In the past I took my nervous dog and blind dog there and I trusted them completely! Now I take Steve the Dog and they adore him! When we arrive, all I have to do is open the car door and he runs to the door.. and most times he want to stay a little longer! Rates are great! Well, we had our dog there twice. First time after we moved here, and the place was listed in the hotel resources (among others) and since it was the closest, we chose this place. Both times our dog was there, he came back with severe diarrhea. OK... I know that changes in environment can affect a pet's stomach. But the report he got was somewhat fishy, because some staff member must have had ample time to decorate the writing with lots of doodles. Yes... doodles! But what irks me most, is that the second time I picked him up, it took a while until he was brought out, only to find out that his behind was completely wet, upon which I was informed that they had hosed it off since there was remnants from doing his business. First of all... that doesn't happen, even with a dog with long hair, unless he has diarrhea and they did not say ONE word about it. Nothing! After both times he was there I had to spend the night at the animal emergency hospital because of the severe diarrhea and both times had to spent over 400 dollars each for the emergency services. So, needless to say... I don't have a goose that lays golden eggs. We will not be back! read more

If I had read reviews on this place before leaving our dog there I'm not sure I would have used this business. However I only looked it up after the fact. Fortunately we had a better experience. We left our toy poodle puppy here for Spring Break week. The pre-booking discussions with the staff by phone were very helpful and the staff was quite friendly. They were prepared for both our arrival and departure and, at our request, had given our dog a bath the day of pick up. We took our puppy's normal food for her stay, something I recommend everyone do if you want to avoid digestive troubles. Just being boarded can be stressful the last thing a dog needs is a new food. read more

Pappy's was suggested to me by a friend. Its easy to get to from plano and my dog is happy here. Really - that seems to be the most important part. My little rescue is easily scared, but seems to love pappy's. She readily jumps from my arms to her favorite employees for a day of play. They have been helpful and flexible with me as well, feeding her special diet when sick, watching her hot spots during allergy season, etc. I have boarded her, had grooming and daycare. I've been pleased with all. She did once get in a scuff with another dog and got a scratch, but honestly, that happens at daycare - you can't stop everything before it starts. They told us about it and had already cleaned up the cut. I know there are some bad reviews here, but most were a while ago, the staff has always been great with me and all of them know my dog by name. read more

I recently boarded my 15 pound miniature schnauzer for one night. I delivered my dog to Pappy's late in the afternoon and picked him up mid-afternoon the next day... with a $42 charge. I was told they bill "hotel rates" meaning if you pick up your dog in the afternoon, you are charged an additional half day. Buyer beware! read more

The staff at this place is really friendly and they seem to be very good with animals. I also really like the web cams available. The only thing that seemed odd is that when I picked my dog up after her 2nd visit, she was rushing out the door and sprinting to the grass to pee. Like she hadn't gone all day. It also seems like she doesn't have much fun there. I don't know if the dogs have any outdoor time or if they really just spend all day in either the day room or in the cage for naps. I still have another day there that I've already paid for. But I'm not sure if I want to leave my dog there all day again. read more

My dog Sophie, a goldendoodle, goes to Pappys in North Plano a few times a week and I wouldnt have it any other way! I work from home and some days I need to just sit down for hours on end without feeling like I need to walk and exercise her and Pappys seems to be the perfect alternative! They are always happy to see my dog and know her by name. She always comes home pooped and takes a long nap. I also get her groomed at Pappys and have been really happy with the services. I have a problem with her matting and they took the time to teach me how to get them out and how to manage it in the future. Everytime I pick her up from daycare or grooming they always give me an update on her day and that always makes me feel better and lets me know that they are watching her constantly. Okay, it is official. I hate this place. The staff informed the manager that I had yelled at the groomer and caused a commotion which emotionally upsetted the groomer. Funny, I did not even know that I yelled at the groomer. Staff tells nothing but lies to get themselves out of bad predictament. If it is your mistake, just say its your mistake. Own up to it! Yes, they did tell me to come back so they can fix the mistake but what can they fix when my dog hair has already been shaven off short! What is there left to fix! My Rhodesian/Shepherd mix Ollie is a handful...an 80lb handful. He can get pretty bad separation anxiety which makes him extremely cautious of new people and places. After a bad experience with another day care (who put him in solitary because they thought his ridge meant he was being aggressive), I brought him to Pappy's. He had a few minutes of hesitation when we walked in that first time. Then they gave him treats and he forgot I even existed. Since that first day, we're weekly regulars. Now, whenever we walk in, whoever is at the front desk knows his name and he's just as thrilled to see them as he is to go play. I like they have a webcam so I can check in on him throughout the day, and check I do - probably every 10 minutes. Every time I check, he's playing, running like a maniac or getting loved on by one of the employees. At the end of the day, I get a report on how he played that day, who he played with and if there were any issues that required him to get a timeout. I've boarded him with them once, and he seemed annoyed I bothered showing up to get him the next day. I'd call that a success. Their grooming services are also extremely reasonable. He can get a full day of daycare, nails drimmeled and a bath for under $45 which is a fantastic deal. Highly highly highly recommend. Unless you hate dogs. And America. read more

When I came to Pappy's pet lodge I felt certain that my best friend would be taken care of. The staff were polite and seemingly knowledgable. Of course farewells are always painful, but as I left, I felt certain that I was leaving my dog in good hands. I came back 4 days, and had to wait 3 hours for the staff to bring me my pet. I noticed that he had been washed (he was wet) so the long wait didn't bother me as much as I thought they had bathed and groomed him as part of the service. Like all dogs, he was head over heels happy to see me but once the welcomes were done he acted very nervous and shaky, jumping at every noise and I KNEW something was up because he NEVER acts like that. The lady had me pay for his stay and so I did and didnt ask any more questions. As we walked to my car, I stopped and pet him and found that there was blood coming out from his ear (the flappy part). I looked soe more and he had the same cuts "tooth marks" on his neck and behind his head. I immediately ran back to the kennel and demanded to know what happened. They said they didn't know and that it was the first time they had ever seen it. Are you kidding? They had just bathed him minutes before he was released me. The cuts were still fresh, I even wiped my finger on the cut and showed them the blood and their response was "maybe he got into a fight with another dog". I asked them how this could happen and demanded to know why I was paying them to look after him. They pretty much just said "sorry it won't happen again". I am only posting this to warn others that these people don't care about your pet. It seemed to me that they didn't even know what was going on back there. Stay away from Pappys. read more

Visited Pappy's Pet Lodge this past Sunday for business reasons and the place was filthy and stunk so bad I thought I was going to throw up. I would NEVER EVER BOARD MY BELOVED PET AT THIS PLACE! OMG, it was horrible and dirty and smelled like urine. I'm sorry but there is not excuse for this! And the people that worked there...well I am not sure where they find these people. They were creepy and I would never leave my pets in the hands of these people and the gross premises. The only reason I can see they got good reviews is because they paid alot of money for the reviews! No stars for you! Beware pet owners! There are alot of private pet sitters that will come to your home or their own and are wonderful which is a much better healthy choice than a place like this! I took my dog for grooming this morning and I had a bad experience. Firstly, they were asking me for $15 for an "express" service, in addition to the regular fee. That fee would allow my dog to get out of there at a decent time (3 1/2 hours later which is still a LONG time). I thought it wasn't a "fair" business practice and the front desk lady (older, bigger lady) gave me the worst look for saying that. She was trying to explain the reasoning for that, which made no sense as they are not incurring any "cost" for that "express" service they are providing. 5 HOURS LATER, I received a call to let me know my dog was ready. Of course, I was at work and couldn't pick her up until much later. You would think they would do a good job with the haircut since they had so much time... WRONG! My dog's hair was too long, her nails were long, and they didn't even have the decency to put a cute ponytail to at least pretend they put some kind of effort into it... Just a really bad cut for a $60 fee (thank goodness I didn't fall into that ridiculous additional $15 express fee). If you want to waste your money and your time, this is the place for you! as for me, NEVER AGAIN. Go take someone else's money!! read more

My dog loves this place. She would go everyday. I picked her up once and she had one yellow foot. I pointed it out and they quickly went and bathed her. They are very friendly and seem to love my baby. Grooming is satisfactory but not awesome. I have a bichon that requires a bit of knowing what your doing. I travel a lot and have to board 4 dogs, one of which is very high maintenance and takes alot of patience. Pappy's on Coit has been excellent. The staff is accommodating and friendly and didn't even mind that I call way to often to check on my dogs while I'm on the road. One time I was up north and got snowed in at my hotel for 3 extra days. They were kind enough to give me a discount for the entire time (of course I had to ask for it, but still). Another time I had put a deposit down for a holiday weekend (which is there policy when you're a new customer) and had to cancel at the very last minute (because one of my dogs cut her paw open and had to have stitches), they applied the deposit to my next visit and apologized they couldn't do more. I will continue to use this place as long as I'm in town! read more

I absolutely LOVE Pappy's and so does Remington. Remi is my (almost) 11 year old Golden Retriever. He was diagnosed with lymphoma in October 2012. I am very particular about leaving him with anyone, and I would only choose Pappy's. They give him the love and care he needs AND they will do anything possible to make an accomodation for him. Daycare has really helped to socialize Remi too. He is much more relaxed around other dogs when he spends time at Pappy's. I would not trust my pet with anyone else!! read more

As a first time client I was tremendously disappointed. The concept of scheduling followed up with an email is an excellent idea but the follow through is horrible. I was over charged from the quote even though I disclosed their breed, size and weight. They are exceptional at being groomed as they have been since the young age of 7 months old. We had an excellent experience with Pappys on Coit and Spring Creek. I have never boarded my dogs before, and these aren't little dogs, or what one would consider "easy" dogs to board...I have a 50lb boxer pup full of energy, and 40lb cocker spaniel mix that I rescued a few months ago. With that being said, I was EXTREMELY nervous to board my dogs over the Fourth Of July Holiday. I called MULTIPLE pet lodges and boarding facilities, Pappys was the first to return my phone call. They also were competitively priced, which is always a good thing. I spoke to the lady on the phone and she went over every detail with me slowly and patiently, and followed up our phone calls leading up to the stay with emails. The check in process was smooth, after handing over the proper paperwork, I dropped off their food, some toys and blankets, and then handed my boys over. I opted to not allow them into the daycare with other dogs on a daily basis, this was just so I knew that I wouldn't have to worry about any dogs getting snippy etc, plus my dogs had each other the whole time, this is an option they give you. During my trip, I called a few times to check on them and received a returned phone call in a timely manner if I had to leave a voicemail. Each time I spoke with a staff member, they filled me in on the normal questions, and gave me a little insight on their behavior...things that I knew only someone would know if they were playing and giving my dogs attention on a daily basis. I appreciated this more than anything. I just picked my dogs up this morning, they were happy, healthy and excited to go home. I could tell they had plenty of attention, and were fed the amount that I asked. There was no "weird" behaviors, they weren't shaky etc. I cannot thank Pappys enough for taking such good care of my babies while I was states away for a week! Beware of Pappy's! For the third time, I was recently called to come take my dog to the vet after an incident. I was told (for the third time) they had no idea what happened, but they suspected that my other dog who had been sharing a boarding room with her must have attacked her. After taking my dog to the vet, I was informed that the injury sustained in no way could have been received from a dog as it was a clean deep cut - consistent with a sharp metal/glass/plastic object. I called Tres (the owner) to let him know what the vet reported, who seemed confused and said he would check the property and get back with me on what was found. After waiting two days without call back, I called for an update, left a message, and no call back. Two more attempts were made without call back. No offer for compensation or even an apology was made. What's more interesting is when my wife was approached by a coworker who told her that her dog suffered the same type of injury in the same location (upper back) and also didn't receive any kind of explanation! Clearly there is something on the property causing harm to dogs, and Pappy's ownership does not care to address the matter. Beware before you bring your dogs for play or boarding! read more

Very disappointed. Read lots of reviews and visited the location. Thought our Weimeraner would be well taken care of . As soon as we picked the dog up, they gave us a report card stating that our dog ate all her food, "potty" was normal, playful in the daycare, and was fabulous during her stay. The owner did say she had diarrhea that first day, but our dog is limping horribly when we picked her up. We were not notified about her limping or what occured to make her that way. We took her to the vet the next morning and she had lost 5 lbs over the 2.5 days. read more

I am surprised to read the negative reviews on this location. I have never smelled anything bad! We have used this Pappy's to board one of our Pugs and she always seems happy and well cared for. They have web cams in the doggie day care room so we can see her interacting with other dogs and there always seemed to be a staff member in there as well. We also use this location for the grooming services. We absolutely *love* Hilary and the care she gives to our Pugs. They are not easy to handle but she loves them and gives them excellent care anytime they are in for baths or nail trims. I highly recommend this location! read more
