    Almond milk Mayan mocha

What a charming place! Love the inner courtyard with open ceiling. Very charming. My almond milk, half-sweet mocha was creamy and smooth. Loved every sip. Wasn't the biggest fan of the iced mango-passionfruit latte, but if you're into fruity lattes you would like it. The chilaquiles with fried egg and bacon were really delicious. A little heat, balanced textures, so good!

very good coffee but i wouldn't recommend the bites. i had a very underwhelming avo toast and my friends had croissants and breakfasts bites and they were not very good. the backyard lounge area is so cute though so it's super instagrammable! service is not like super on it, since you order at the front and pay and then they deliver it. but don't really check on you or anything afterwards.

Beautiful cafe! My first time was for a crafting event that was being hosted here. When you walk in, it looks like a small coffee shop but there is actually a larger courtyard as you enter further. Tried their seasonal matcha which was pomegranate at the time. Very good although I would've liked the flavors to be stronger. Nice service from every employee I interacted with. Street parking only

Drinks: 5 Service: 5 Ambiance: 5 I had the seasonal matcha which was blood orange with almond milk, it was so delicious, perfectly balanced and the matcha was good good.. We had the drink in their cute patio in the back. Love this place and happy it is not overly priced. I will be back to try the other drinks!

    House coffee to go

One of my favorite places not just in Mission Hills, but San Diego proper, to grab a coffee and enjoy a nice seat while working, reading or catching up with a friend. A lot of people don't realize that they have a beautiful courtyard in the back of the cafe with tons of seats. I think I enjoy the food they server here just as much as the coffee. My husband loves their fried egg sandwich on a croissant and I'm a fan of their homemade sourdough bagels. I believe everything is made in house and you can really taste the quality. For coffee, I usually get a latte or Cortado. I appreciate their milk to espresso ratio in their drinks. A lot of coffee shops going too heavy on the milk and it's washes out the espresso. My only critique/suggestion for management is to tone down the music volume in the courtyard. It's been really loud a couple times I've been there and it's such a peaceful space and I don't want to feel like I'm at a loud bar.

Cute coffee shop that also serves cocktails. The patio is situated in between the building so not sure how much sunlight it gets during the day. In the evening it has mood lighting. TBH I can't remember what drink I ordered. Will go back and update again.

I (literally) ran by Paradis and they were kind enough to let me fill up my water bottle. I promised I'd be back with friends and was eyeing the deviled eggs the gal behind the counter was making. As promised, a few hours later, I cam back with my hubs and besties for a brunch time nosh. They happened to have an empanada pop-up and were out of the chilaquiles that I had tried to order, so I went with the empanadas. The gal making them was located on the back patio along with another gal selling a fun bright pink beverage. Hubs ordered the breakfast sandwich and bestie a BLT (her hubs got a beer but no food). We also ordered a couple of cappuccinos which were delicious and made perfectly. Both of the sandwiches were delicious overflowing with their ingredients. I really wanted the deviled eggs - didn't see them on the menu and then noticed on my way out that there were lots of snackable items in the cold case. I should have asked! The patio is small but sunny and cheerful. Cute decor all around. I also bought a bottle of wine for the road from their retail area which has all kinds of small food treats.

As I was driving by I saw a sign on the street that read Jamon Iberico Today! From 6-9pm. Although I was not there for the jamon it's good to know they do that! The space is small and intimate. They have a few seats inside and outside. The service was nice and efficient. You order and pay at the counter. Which is perfect if you're only there for HH. I noticed they have various wines in boxes a lot of Italian wines. I wonder if they have a wine club? Or just wine aficionados. We were there for their HH and ordered two red sangrias which were pretty yummy and a couple of their pintxos. The deviled eggs and their prosciutto wrapped dates. Both were good and small, it's ok given the price. Paradis was a pit stop on our way to dinner, and they served their purpose for the evening. Look forward to coming back!

Paradis is cutest little coffee shop! We ordered at the counter in the front of the cafe and it's so cozy. The staff was friendly and showed us the back patio. It's not just a coffee shop since they serve martinis and other cocktails. I ordered an iced hazelnut praline latte with vanilla cold foam. The hazelnut praline flavor was delicious and the cold foam was the perfect addition! They decorated for Christmas and everything was pink! Definitely a great spot for a drink and a fun photo moment!

Love this place!! Cute coffee shop. Nice dog friendly patio. Service was great and the orange blossom in house made syrup was delicious and flavorful!! I'll be a regular here.

Excellent nosh and coffee with creative flavors. Lovely place to sit and chat in the front of the shop or there is a larger patio area in the back for a longer more leisurely meal. @sturdygirlstyle #sturdygirlstyle

Such a cute cafe!!! Went there last week and only got matcha but they had plenty of food options as well as drinks and cocktails. The patio in the back is so cute. They also have events and live music / jazz. Will definitely be back!!

This place is perfect for a lowkey weekday brunch. The drinks were solid, but what really stood out to me was the food options! The Paradis Salad was one of the best salads I've had, especially for a cafe! The Stracciatella Toast was also delicious, with intricate flavors that complemented each other. The staff was friendly, but I would say service is very minimal. The outside courtyard is lovely and it provides a different and unique space that not many cafes in San Diego can do. It is a great place to get some work done, but it is pretty busy and seating is first come first serve.

Bartenders were cool. Nick was our fave though for sure. He made some mean cocktails. Solid liquor selection plus a list of cocktails to choose from. I initially ordered the something and picante (can't remember the full name) and found it to be way too sweet. Then switched to a basic Lalo with soda and lime to cleanse my palette. After tried their version of an espresso martini which was quite good but made with nitro brew and kahlua so a bit on the sweeter side. I ended the night with my fave drink though which was a Hugo spritz and it was perfectly balanced. Definitely will be going back, especially for the love band Sundays. Parking is all street parking.

I'm really glad that I found Oculto because it has been one of the highlights of my San Diego trip. First of all, the concept of the seven deadly sins is really cool. The space is absolutely moody, intimate, and thoughtfully designed. It has an atmosphere that makes you want to slow down and enjoy your drink rather than rush through it. And since I don't really drink, I was definitely going slow. And I was alone, but the good part was I found myself just taking it all in instead of reaching for my phone. I started with an espresso martini-style cocktail that was smooth, balanced, and the perfect way to ease into the evening. For my second drink, I asked for the bartender's choice, and it ended up being one of my favorite cocktails I've had in a long time. It featured lychee, strawberry, and cardamom, and was garnished with a beautiful little rose. It was creative, elegant, and every flavor worked together perfectly. The cocktails were outstanding, but what really made the experience stand out was the service. Devin was an excellent bartender and an amazing conversationalist. He was warm, knowledgeable, and genuinely engaging, making me feel welcome from the moment I sat down. He took the time to craft a drink based on flavors I enjoy, and it was clear he cares about creating a great experience, not just serving drinks. If you're looking for a cocktail bar with incredible drinks, a gorgeous atmosphere, and exceptional hospitality, I can't recommend Oculto enough. I'll absolutely be back the next time I'm in San Diego.

Located in Old Town San Diego, we had dinner at a restaurant within walking distance from Oculto. I parked for free on the street and made a reservation day of. It's a pretty small speakeasy so if you're going on a weekend, you're probably going to have to make a reservation in advance. Ambiance (4.5/5): Oculto has the seven deadly sins theme going which is pretty cool. I've been to a similar speakeasy in St. Pete, Florida. Once you arrive at the mezcal bar that houses Oculto, check in with the host, and he will bring you to a "confessional." There, you must confess one of the seven deadly sins before the door to the speakeasy is opened for you. Naturally, I went with "lust." Once you get inside, it's a charming speakeasy. Service (2.5/5): This is one of the areas that leaves a little to be desired. There was only one bartender working when I was there. Since speakeasies have elevated cocktails, service was quite slow. They definitely needed two bartenders there to speed up the process. They also have a two-drink minimum which I was annoyed about on principle. I often have multiple drinks at a bar, but I never feel like I'm forced to do it. Food (N/A): I'm not sure if they have food, I don't believe they do. Regardless, I was on a liquid diet. Drinks (4/5): Pretty interesting menu of craft cocktails. When I'm at a speakeasy, I look for unique drinks that have an interesting combination of ingredients and flavor profiles. In addition to a nice list, they also have a dealer's choice cocktail where you can tell the bartender what you're into and they will craft a custom cocktail for you based on your taste. Another cool thing about Oculto is that it's located next to the cemetery in Old Town. That adds to the spooky theme.
