We've gone to Paradise for sandwiches a few times, quick with an open patio. Today we went and got a 2 sandwiches and they had me sign the receipt. I added $3 for a tip. They wouldn't print one for me. Said it would come by email. When I got it, they had also added an "Auto-generated 18% tip" on top of that. This place is a mostly take out restaurant. I guess they thought they stick the tourist with an extra tip. But sadly, we're locals and I'll let everyone know not to go there anymore. Maybe it's a new owner because they've added the name Juice in front of Paradise, not sure. Very poor business practice!!! read more

*tourist beware* The owner upcharged a Bud Light as a foreign beer, then they tack on a forced 15% gratuity for 2 people for counter service, then have the audacity to add a tip line with suggestions of 15%, 20%, and 25% with totals conveniently calculated for you including the tip and gratuity. Forced gratuity is underhanded to begin with, but tacking it on for every person (or just tourists) is flat out theft. *edit* I looked at my credit card statement and saw the owner then when ahead and charged for a 15% tip on top of the mandatory gratuity, making the total excess charge 30%. I'm disputing this through my credit card, which I know will reimburse me, but the owner of this place is an absolute shyster. read more

*** SCAM ALERT *** This place automatically charges you the gratuity tip without telling you and then still includes an additional tip line on the bill. In addition, the lady lied to us when we asked why the bill was so much (we didn't notice the added gratuity)- she said it was due to taxes instead of honestly telling us about the automatic gratuity. We'll start with the positives. The rice and beans here are excellent, like really, really excellent. They also have a nice little covered patio out back which is a welcome brake from that warm Florida sun. Unfortunately, those are all the positives. We tried four different menu items based off of some positive Yelp reviews and all I can guess is that those reviews were written by friends and loved ones. None of our sandwiches, tamales or shredded beef had any seasoning - none. Almost no flavor whatsoever. Everything had a thick grease/butter coating that was very off putting as well. With all the strong Cuban cuisine offered in the Keys, do yourself a favor and find another spot to try. read more

I ate here on Friday Jan 11 for lunch. This has been one of most disappointing Cuban sandwiches I have ever had in a Latin restaurant but I ate it as I was extremely hungry. The fries that it came with tasted like they have been in the freezer for 20 years and were fried in oil that was even older than that. The taste and texture was terrible. Needless to say we could not eat the fries despite our voracious hunger . On top of that the beer I ordered had expired in December and here is the picture of it ( but I still drank it despite my boyfriend's insistence not to)!! I would rate the coffee at a 4.5 but the breakfast food as a 3. The scrambled eggs were overcooked and very small portions, while the hash browns were not great - would recommend getting potatoes another way. The bread that came with it was fantastic though. I'd probably get an omelet next time with the bread. The colada was very good - but not what I remembered it being. They added sugar which I didn't expect but was good. I would recommend it with a bit of milk with the sugar or ask to not include the sugar. The large cuban coffee with milk was also good. read more

Staying nearby and wanted to get something for breakfast so thought we'd give it a try. It was good and fun to try Cuban food (not common at home). The chirrizo omelet was good but not large. Good place to grab a quick bite and Cuban coffee. We stopped by here our way back from Key West and it was good. We were there for late lunch and the staff made an exception because our kid wanted to have a pancake after seeing another customer having one (they pre-ordered ahead of time) and they hesitated first but made it happen regardless. I appreciate that gesture and kid was very happy. Overall, I'd come back and try several other items from the menu if I could. The woman that took my order was completely disinterested. Big signs not to enter without a mask, hers was under her chin, the food prep person had no mask, and some loud nasty guy eating and talking behind the counter spewing food everywhere... even without the Mask rules that would have been gross. Great food!! great service. All the food was fresh. The flan reminded me of my mom's home cooked flan. Nice and thick. The croquette were amazing. The empanada de yuca they were all great. I would definitely recommend this if you're Cuban like me and miss your home-cooked meals that Mama used to make. Or if you just want some good authentic Cuban food. read more

Great breakfast in Marathon -- visited twice last month on a weekend getaway and really enjoyed the food. Paradise tortilla + cuban toast + guanabana juice was life! So good we returned the next day and even got some croquetas! Crispy shell with a soft inner = one of the tastiest croquetas de jamon I have eaten! TIP: grab your tortilla and place between two toast. Self-made tortilla sandwich for the win! My SO loved her cafe con leche and rated it as the real deal. Now you know. Whenever in Marathon, Paradise is key to the beginning of a great day. read more

If zero stars was possible I'd put it , this restaurant is not worth your money , I went with my family , spent $140 and none of us were able to eat the food . The quesadilla were reheated not made at the moment, the fish fillet looked and tasted like if they had it refrigerated for years. The pork belly tasted stale and hard as a rock . Rice and beans were nasty and reheated, no food was made at the moment. My whole family got food poisoning for this place . Save your money and don't go to this place. read more

We stayed at Tranquility Bay resort in Marathon. This Little Cuban spot was right across the street. First thing, it was clean and the girls were very nice, it's a small little luncheonette/eatery spot. They do close early 4pm. It's a walk-in order food at the register they do have some hot plate food also displayed. The Cuban coffee AMAZING and yes I walked everyday across the street to get my Cafe con Leche every morning. read more

We stopped in here a few days ago for a quick meal. The cuban coffee hit the spot and I liked their outdoor seating. However, the service was not too friendly and sadly I cant brag on the food. Between the 4 of us we got a Cuban Sandwich with fries (not allowed to sub for plantains - I tried!), the omelette breakfast sandwich, a regular omelette and hash browns. The sandwich was tons of bread, no meat. Literally all I could taste was bread. Same for the omelette sandwich. I love cuban bread but it was simply too much and we did not feel good about the quality of what we received for what we spent here. read more

We came here based on reviews, we were disappointed in the food, service and cleanliness. I suppose if you are a tourist not use to Cuban food and don't know any better than this is good food. Sorry if that come across harsh but I live in the tri state area and I know what good Cuban food tastes like. May we recommend our.." we sat down at a table and I immediately noticed how dirty it was, the experience was strange as it seemed like a female owned business. Being a Latina and a female, I know how much pride we take in cleanliness..after all it is next to Godliness. As my mother would say " donde hay orden está Dios". Well I guess The big man wasn't at this location because there were wrappers at our table and table hadn't been bussed yet the cashier was playing on her cell phone instead of cleaning or seeing if customers liked their food or needed any refills. Besides it not tasting good, food was served on disposable dinner ware. Yes because when I pay for an expensive breakfast, I want to eat on Styrofoam plates, cups and plastic cutlery. Besides the fact that it is across the street from the Turtle Hospital and styrofoam takes many decades to break down. Garbage causes intestinal blockages in the stomachs of turtles..sigh.. The entire place had an " I could care less" vibe. No attention to detail, how hard is it to sweep the floor of such a small space or to buss a table? Omelette was terrible, Cuban coffee was terrible and I love Cuban coffee. Sorry but just because you have tourist who might not know better doesn't mean you should become complacent. Take pride in your establishment, take pride in your culture and your traditions through food. The single-handedly worst meal ever! The bread was stale and the egg covered 1/3 of the "sand inch", leaving nothing but stale bread. $17 for a sausage, egg and cheese? Total rip-off with an added gratuity. Save your money and go to key west for REAL Cuban food. read more

Stopped by on a personal friend's recommendation. The outside resembled a convenience store. Once inside there is a counter and some dining tables with plastic chairs. You order from the counter from a nice cashier who seems to not really understand the menu. Questions were directed to the lady in the back who eagerly came out and further confused the situation. All I wanted was the stone crab special they were advertising which was posted in two places, one right in front of the kitchen for $9.75 +tax. She said no to that. Either they were not making it or no more special and it should come down. After some frustration we ordered plain stone crabs , a Cubana, an iced Cuban coffee and a can of Diet Coke. Our bill was $29 which included 4+ dollars already in tip. We threw in $2 in the tip jar for good measure. We decided to sit out back which was pretty nice! The stone crabs were pretty good. The Cubana was tasty. Cuban coffee decent. While frustrating, we might give it another try now that we know how to order. Will study the menu.. read more

BEWARE. Barista added high gratuity without asking, using Square register to my bill for counter service!! I really like this place. The food is good and juices fresh and prices reasonable. Just be careful as the new square cash register can auto ad tips to cash and credit card receipts. She gave me my change and it was obviously short... No receipt... Asked why I didn't get correct change.. gave me a receipt and told me it was auto gratuity... Really.. For counter service??? WTF?!? Totally unethical. I posted my receipt in the photos section so you can see proof. Other receipts on the counter did not have auto gratuity added to them. They don't do this to the locals apparently... Nice hospitality.... I filed a complaint with the Marathon Chamber of Commerce. read more

There are two small Cuban restaurants within 1/4 mile of each other on the ocean side of Rt-1. This is not the good one from a food standpoint. They have a nice outdoor eating area and the staff speaks English. That's about all I can say good about this place. Food is medocur. Staff has no concern for customers. It's one of those hole in the wall type restaurants but those seem to be the best for good cheap food. I've never had a Cuban despite dating a Cuban/Spanish guy from florida and so i kind of never really knew what the hype was. This is a pretty authentic place, the cashier doesn't speak much english there seems to be some regulars who stop by pretty often as well while we were there. So i took a chance got the traditional Cuban sandwich and a fruit drink that i've never heard of. It was called guanabana or something like that and was super delicious. BEWARE the portions are pretty massive it could probably be shared between two people, i was so hungry that i ate a little less then 3/4 of the sandwich. It was super good the right amount of ham and pork proportions with pickles and mustard, the bread though is what makes this sandwich though! I think my Cuban sandwich curiosity should be satiated for at least a year now. read more

There's nothing Paradise about this place. To go to the point, the food was terrible. We ordered Cuban sandwiches and it LITERALLY had ONE slice of ham, old pork that was horrendous, and the bread was stale. Like others reviews, they include gratuity and then give you the option to add more. Stay away from this place. It is a shame that they give Cuban sandwiches such a bad name.
