Solid Mediterranean food in a beautiful setting made for Instagram. Paradiso feels like a slice of South Beach. Food was pretty good but the overall experience was lacking. The food is well seasoned and comes in generous portions. The crispy artichokes and mussels were the favorites but the Cous Cous and hummus were also solid dishes. These 4 items could have easily fed 4 people so the two of us left very full. I docked 2 stars from our experience because service was slow for a Sunday night where the restaurant was a quarter full. It took awhile to order and we were seldom checked on. Also they were out of rose and Prosecco from brunch so my wife wasn't able to order the drinks she wanted. We were also seated next to buckets set up to catch a leak when there were plenty of other tables available. As others have noted, it gets pretty warm inside so coming on a sunny day when it is packed would be rough. Normally I would let these things slide but for the higher end experience (and prices), these were little things I would not have expected. Parking is limited to street parking. Didn't see valet anywhere. The place had lots of outdoor seating and looks to be able to handle large groups on the weekends. Only 3 stars because of combination of different factors. However I have to Note that the biscuit & gravy was ONE OF THE BEST I've had. It's a huge biscuit with generous tasty creamy Italian sausage gravy with a kick! The fried artichokes were crispy & tasty, but prolly not for everyone because of the texture. The steak frites (brunch menu) were disappointing - flavorless cut-up steak pieces over average French fries. If you come during the day on a weekend, you can only order from limited brunch menu & some of the pizza options. The service was okay, the waitress was friendly but it took a while to get our food & the check. This is a cute place for a date with vibrant modern decor & European-inspired spacious outdoor seating. I am torn rating this place - my plate was delish, but the other item I tasted was so-so & pricey! Tonight a group of us went to Paradiso for a friend's birthday. I have been here 3 other times for brunch, but tonight the customer service from the manager at the front and our server were absolute garbage. The manager was unwelcoming and rude. I had the worst experience here 4 months ago. Not sure why I waited so long to write this review. Probably bc I didn't want to be triggered again. Our family did a staycation in downtown Dallas. Since we moved far north, we rarely ever eat at Bishop anymore so we were excited to come back to this area to try new things. This place has great reviews on Yelp. Unfortunately, that's not the case in real life. With 2 little kids, my husband and my pregnant self waited forever and no one assisted us after we got seated. Not to mention, they sat us at the sunniest spot with the heat blazing on us. We asked the hostess multiple times for a waiter and continue to wait for a total of 45mins. I think we finally got seated because we asked to see a manager or else we'd continue to wait. Yes, we could have walk away and go somewhere else but at this point my husband really wanted to speak to management to let them know how terrible this has been. There was another couple who got seated before us. They also waited forever but ultimately left. We asked them not to leave so we can let management know together, but they said they'll leave a bad review instead of waiting any longer. We noticed another group of ladies who got seated after us got attention immediately, while we continued to be ignored. I can see management from where I was sitting, and they seemed to be hella hesitant to come talk to use. They were probably debating on what to do lol. The waiter who ended up assisting us was nice but it wasn't even his section to serve. They comped our food for having a bad start and thanks goodness for that because the food wasn't good. Brunch food was so basic and underwhelming while I came here because I wanted pasta, and other items on the Yelp page. Either way, I'm never coming back here. Finally, got over to Bishop Arts to visit this place after far too long of knowing about it and driving by a few times. Let's just say, this place is "THE SPOT!!!" Upon entry, you feel like you just entered a bistro on the Amalfi Coast. A beautiful patio dining area with a water feature and lots of seating. Inside the decor is very nicely arranged and spacious, with different style booth seating, tables and hightops, and a wraparound bar with cushy high chairs. There is abundant lighting throughout the place, so it feels very airy inside while still intimate. We arrived during lunch, so the menu catered to that. However, it changes between lunch and dinner, and then again for dinner. They also serve what looks like a very tasty Brunch on the weekend. We started with the Sangria's (very tasty & refreshing) for drinks and Oysters (which although they were from the Gulf, tasted like Blue Point) and Hummus & homemade Pita bread for appies, both were divine! We then shared the Chicken Salad sandwich (YUM) and the Rigatoni Pasta w/ Rock Shrimp (). Our server, Diego, certainly made the dining experience even better, by making great recommendations and being timely and attentive. This place is so inviting and you continue to feel "welcomed" throughout your dining experience. In fact, it was so chill we were reluctant to leave. After capping it all off with the wonderful Tiramisu, we had dined sufficiently and it was time to go. My friends (group of 5) and I tried having brunch here but the service was horrible. There were so many empty tables and we were sat in the back (it was not busy at all). The food here is DELICIOUS and unique. Every single thing I tried was so flavorful. I swear I'd come here just for the spiced chicken skewers and marinated burrata. Both of them were super fresh, filled with flavor and satisfying! I also had the steak frites, which was a great choice. My steak was cooked medium rare & wood grilled, over a bed of fresh hot crispy fries, topped with what they call "salsa verde" but was really a mild garlicky herbal chimichurri type sauce. Absolutely delicious. I took the leftovers home to cook up with some eggs for breakfast! The brussels sprouts were crispy salty goodness, and the marinated artichoke side was so unique & refreshing & unexpected, served cold with a creamy feta topping. The only thing I wasn't super crazy about was the pistachio chocolate cake. The *idea* and presentation of it was amazing, but the reality of it lacked a little...something. None of the flavors really stood out. The cake part needs to be more chocolatey and there needs to be more emphasis on the strawberry, imho. I was there for a work dinner, but I'd come back in a HEARTBEAT on my own. So good! The service was also on point! What a gem of a restaurant in the middle of Bishop Arts! The decor both inside and outside the restaurant is just STUNNING and puts you right in the heart of this beautiful shop lined street. From the second we arrived our bride to be was over the moon with all this place had to offer. The menu had so many options. We started with a cinnamon roll, bombolini, and couscous salad- which all knocked it out of the park. I got the turkey melt which was largely portioned and just delicious. I went during dinner and lucked up with bar seating, otherwise there was a 1.5 hr wait time. Beautiful brunch spot with a great menu. The cinnamon roll was fluffy and not too sweet. I love that the frosting was more of a cream cheese butter cream which gave it a very homey taste. We ordered hummus, mussels, both good, the meatballs were dry. Most people at the table ordered the steak frites, which was terribly chewy and flavorless. I ordered medium rare, like I always do. Worst part was service. The waiter would disappear for long times, not refill water, never came back to check after entrees were sent out. One person was missing their entree until we asked two different waiters about it, it came out by the time everyone was done. I have gone here a few time and its great for solo patrons who just want a good rink at the bar, they make a good old fashioned, or for groups and dates. They offer a variety of cocktail concoctions to choose from and it is a great place for Instagram pics, if you like doing those things. As for why I was less than happy, the service was not as amazing as the rest of the restaurant. Our waiter had not came to greet us, and as a group of three we were squeezed onto a two top table even though it was not the lunch rush hour. I understand that our waiter had a few tables and could not greet us right away, but he had treated the table beside us much differently than my table. I've worked in the service industry for years--I GET bad days. This was over the top and inexcusable. Sat down to order a drink and offered to buy tenders the same. Asked if the bartender knew the shot. Bartender #2 (I think Adam, neck tattoos, built, hispanic) mocked my question. I asked Tender #2 several questions he blatantly ignored. When I asked his coworker who made the shots if he was okay she said "yeah he's just like that." He then repeated "don't call ICE on me" and "I'm getting no tip from this guy" despite me already providing a 30% tip. When I told him that he said "I don't give a fuck about you or your tip." Clearly this guy has issues, is on drugs, or is otherwise unfit for this job. Cherry on top? He took the shot I bought him. I'll never return. read more
