Salam, all! For a birthday dinner tonight my friend treated me to Paratha Wala in Forest Hills and we had the best experience! First off, the customer service was over the top! 11/10! My friend and I were talking about how the courtesy and attentiveness of all the staff made our dine in so enjoyable--in addition to the incredible food! They only have outside dining but they have different spots where you can sit whether it be out under the sun or under their tent. I'm someone who drinks way too much water, every time I finished my last sip, they came out within seconds for a refill they asked what we thought of each meal and if we needed anything. They genuinely enjoyed and listened to our feedback. They also were very clean and wiped down our table and provided us with hand wipes. I started off with masala chai, one of the best I've ever had, and I've gotten masala chai from many places: 10/10. Our waiter was telling us the process of how it's made with so much effort and totally fresh. We LOVED it! For the appetizer my friend and I split the Sweet Chili Wings. I really enjoyed the sauce used and how crispy the wings were. The salad that the wings came with was also incredible, as well as the dip. This dish was perfect for two people and a 9.5/10 For dinner we had the lamb paratha roll (9/10) and chicken biryani (9/10). The flavors were great as well as all the chutneys they provided us. The lamb paratha roll came with fries which were a 10/10. To be honest, we weren't paying attention to prices, but with all that we got, including the quantity and quality of the food we thought it'd come out to at least $50-$60, and were so surprised when the total came out to $39.52! We forgot to look in advance, but on yelp you get a 10% off your order when you check in. I highly recommend this place, and will definitely be returning, especially since their brunch menu looks amazing! This is my favorite restaurant in Forest Hills. I'm torn about writing a review because it's very under the radar and I'd like it to stay that way! I go there at least one a month. They have delicious spicy Indian food (which I love), good wine selection including bubbly which I like and not all places have, friendly and kind service (they are always so sweet to my 4 year old), a calming atmosphere with interesting and artful decor, and games for the kids to play - table hockey, video game, and some other Indian table game (not sure what it's called). The kids love the games and it provides good entertainment. They also have a good kids menu. I think prices are reasonable. Great place! read more

I haven't had a review for an Indian restaurant in a long time. This has been one of the best Indian restaurants in my opinion. Having grown up with Indian food in Malaysia, the flavors of the food here were so delicious and "clean". I could taste the essence of the foods and tell they did not seem to recycle the oil that they might have used for frying other food. The ingredients were so fresh and I cannot wait to come back already. The atmosphere and the inside of the restaurant were clean and well kept. Here you go with the pictures. My boyfriend and I stopped by this place because of a Yelp deal. We got the Paneer Roll and Butter Chicken Roll. Both were yummy, but I definitely preferred the butter chicken! The rolls are pretty large so definitely a full meal. Overall, great flavor :) read more

Ambiance and Decor are fantastic, Instagram worthy pictures. Music playlist is poppin', a total vibe. We've been here a handful of times, the paratha rolls are great, definitely try them! Beef Biryani tastes very good, however my only qualm is if you order any of the biryanis with an egg, they basically just serve you a hard boiled egg on the side of biryani, which is not the proper way a biryani dish with egg would be served/prepared. (Plus there's a $1.50 up charge, for a literal boiled egg) If you're searching for an authentic butter chicken, I would avoid ordering butter chicken from here, it is not the typical "Indian style" of butter chicken and you can actually tastes the canned paste they used in the dish (which is typically a no-no), also not served with enough gravy. Gulab Jamun is delicious! And their iced Rose Chai is fantastic (a must order)! Excellent wait staff, super attentive and friendly. It's desi, but not an authentic desi. First off all, beautiful space and the staff was ridiculously lovely. We got: Vegetable Samosa $8.95 Potatoes, green peas with Indian herb and spices wrapped in Indian spiced dough served with horseradish and tamarind sauce. Butter Chicken $16.55 Marinated Chicken with homemade tikka spices cooked with our special creamy tomato sauce. Served with long grain basmati rice Garlic Paratha $6.95 Mango White Claw $5.95 Ginger Mint Lemonade $6.95 Ginger Ale $2.55 Saratoga $7.55 Sauce on the Samosas was delish, nice heat to them. I just wish it had been in the side and not drowning my food. The Samosas lost some of their flaky crust which I love because of this. Good flavors though. The Butter Chicken was very bland and the texture of the chicken was weird. Hard to explain but it just didn't hold up to one we have had at other places. Garlic Paratha was good, a little greasy but still yummy. My only complaints about the staff was that we asked for a bottle of water and they said they didn't have any so we said a glass of water was fine. Instead a bottle of Saratoga water was brought out and before we could say anything opened ...so instead of tap we paid $7.55 a one glass of water. Needless to say we took remainder home. The only other issue was bill was $64 and change. I have him 1 $50, 2 $20s for a total of $90 and told him I needed change. He brought back the change including one of the $20s I gave him. So change back was $25 (20 and a 5) and no change even though I was due another 70+ cents which meant that I was either going to be forced to leave a $20 tip or $5. Fortunately I had another $5 so they got less than 20% which I hated but also - use your head sweet dude. We will not be returning but can't say it's not worth trying, just a little expensive for being so far from the city which offers much better Indian food for same price if not less. The dishes range from high quality street food to more elevated dishes but they all pack flavor. They even have several Instagram worthy backgrounds that add a modern splash to the restaurant. Nehal was so helpful with answer questions and recommending dishes. We ordered: sweet chili wings, samosa chaat (my absolute favorite!), beef curry, lamb shank, curry salmon, kale fritters, leche cocktail and lemonade cocktail. My sister and I went for outdoor dining and sat in the tent. They also have a couple of two tops on the sidewalk outside the restaurant. Masks and gloves are worn by staff and little sani napkins are provided. Only 3 tables max in the tent. Now on to the food! I ordered a chicken Tikka bowl and that thing was massive. Wonderfully plated. So tasty with the caramelized onions and the chicken was nicely charred. Sister had butter chicken and she loved every bite. The vibe of the restaurant was amazing. I went there for my Birthday lunch with my dad and was warmly welcomed by our host Nehaal. He made some suggestions as it was our first time. The Lamb Shank was amazing although it came with Lemon rice which I wasn't a fan of. The Rose Lassi reminded me of some memories of Roof Afza. And to end with a great dessert our host Nehaal was very generous enough to bring me a Mango Souffle for my Birthday which made my day. This place is super cute. You can come with friends or family. It's halal but you can also BYOB. The staff is really nice. First time here so I tried different things. I loved the Lamb Roll the chicken roll was a bit off. The tikka bowl and the sauce for the chicken was a bit off I didn't like it. The aloo paratha was good had a lot of ghee/butter. I've ordered from here several times and it's always delicious! I've tried: - Paratha rolls which are flavorful and have a nice kick, and their namesake parathas are soft and flakey (but hold up well with the juice of the roll). The chutney fries were fun and tasty! - Lamb biryani, I wish the meat was a bit more juicy but perhaps this is the disadvantage to using lamb over goat. Very good flavors though and hits the spot when I'm craving biryani - Lassi was way too sweet and definitely seemed like was made with the canned mango puree. - The gulab jamun is meh, you'd be better off picking it up from your local indian grocery store. read more

I enjoyed this place, went there just last night for dinner. They check your temperature and asked for your name and number so they can keep track of COVID, god forbid someone is positive. They also seated us a good few feet away from other customers and gave sani wipes when our plates came. The place is small and cozy, great environment for a small group of friends or family. I enjoyed the music, aesthetic, politeness of staff, and I am a big fan of the food. I ordered the butter chicken with basmati rice and roti and its been a while since I had butter chicken/tikki that good from a restaurant. Most places usually have too much of one ingredient where it throws the flavor off of me - Paratha Wala did a good job. The kale fritters were also an amazing appetizer. This is a new place that just opened in June 2020. The place is very clean, it has good ambiance. Due to COVID they are following rules of keeping the distance 6 ft apart and cleaning thoroughly. All the waiters are wearing mask and gloves. They also check the temperature before they sit you. You can easily find street parking. Appetizers were really good. We had ordered kale fritters and sweet chili wings. Which was a real hit. I really liked their bowls. The paneer bowl was really good except I was too keen on the corn it just had a different taste maybe the seasoning that they used. But the sauce on paneer was excellent and also the rice that comes with it was good. Everyone was very friendly and always made sure that we were okay and if we needed anything. Must check it out!! 4.5 star rating I've been looking for a dhaba style restaurant that intrigues all my senses. This restaurant is clean, hip, modern desi, upbeat and flavorful. Golgappa/fuchka/pani puri is a dish not many places get right but here it was flavorful and it definitely left me wanting more. 6 puffs for $8 though is a bit much though. I also had the rose Iced Chai which was nice but it felt like something was missing. Tasted more like regular Chai with rose water. Also tried the lamb bowl with a side of their spiciest sauce and enjoyed it thoroughly. Lamb was super tender and the masala it was cooked in was perfect. Rice was fluffy and aromatic and the smashed potatoes in it made the dish hearty. This location does indoor and outdoor dining and the outdoor is also nice (not quite picture worthy but nice). Indoors, by the entrance there's a wall feature in which pictures can be taken which is a plus point for us desi girls who are picture crazy. Lastly on the way out I had tried their Mango Lassi which was thick and sweet and delectable. I think they make it with mishti doi thus making it unique. I like my Lassi thick so it was perfect. The only reason this review isn't a 5 star is because there some pesky flies that kept sitting on our food. read more

I went there yesterday at 7pm. Before I describe the food, I have to say that the service was outrageously bad! Even though we had a reservation, and at least 4 tables were open, we had to wait to be seated. The lights where we were seated were flashing in an annoying way. They turned off those lights, but turned them on again and off again as patrons complained throughout the evening. After ordering, it took over an hour for our appetizers (samosas) to be served, then another 45min for our soup. The water glasses were not refilled in a timely way. Each time, we had to get up from the table to find a waiter to request the water be refilled-- sometimes 2 or 3 times before the waiter came with water. We asked that the water pitcher be left at the table. But they wouldn't do that. The soup was served with the spoon literally under the surface of the soup. We never got our order of bread. Our food order came about a half hour after the soup. This was truly the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. The food was only OK. Most remarkable for the very watery consistency of the Muligatawny Soup. read more
