Incredibly delicious food! So excited this restaurant opened up in this neighborhood. Not only do they have great food, their service is amazing and very affor. So many great options for vegetarians and I absolutely loved the ginger mint lemonade! My fiancé also ordered chai which he loved. While waiting for food, we had a good chat with Raj and also a very sweet girl (forgot to ask her name and not sure if she's related to the owner) about their unique menu. I used to love this place, but the prices have gone up by so much compared to when it first opened. I feel as if the decorations are over the top now. The food is really good though. At the end of the meal, our waitress told us she would give us a discount if we wrote a 5 star review for them on Yelp. This part took us by surprise. It seemed very unethical. What a delightful experience here at Paratha Wala. The place is very clean (including bathroom) and cute. We were welcomed by Maria who checked us in, sat us and was our server for our meal. I have been here on 2 occasions. Both times the food food was awesome and our server Angie took care of all our needs. The first time we visited this location was for a guys night out and we were having a hard time picking a place to eat. 2 of my friends need a place where they could eat food that is halal. My girlfriend recommended this place to eat as it had some of the street food that reminded her of back in Bangladesh, and it was on her list of places to eat. My friends and I enjoyed the food. Angie and the chef were very accommodating as one of my friends had a number of foods he could not eat. We enjoyed the food so much we took food home for our significant others. The 2nd time I came here I brought my girlfriend who had recommended the place for a date night. Angie remembered my group of friends. My girlfriend enjoyed the food so much and it brought back childhood memories from back in Bangladesh. She started explaining to me about how great the decor of the places was and how each item that was part of the decor related back to her memories in Bangladesh. Portions are pretty decent and food is very tasty. I know my girlfriend and my group of friends will be back there again. I was shocked that this restaurant has a 5 star review. That means, every person who has ever reviewed this place absolutely loved it. Hard to believe, but it is absolutely true!!! The service was great and the food was even better, plus 10% off when you check in on Yelp! Can't get any better than this. I got 3 things, chicken tikka bowl, lamb paratha roll and butter chicken and I have 3 words to describe it: OH MY GOD! I highly recommend all of these things! Tasty and the way that Raj prepared my Limca soda was soooo delicious with Chaat Masala and Lemon I know... it sounds weird to have someone make your soda Btw, the Ginger Mint Lemonade was slammin!!! Off to the appetizers... the Sweet Chicken Wings and Kale fritters are a MUST!!! Super crispy and the right amount of flavor! For the main course, the Butter Chicken was yummy but a bit too Spicy for me since I can't handle any spice Yummy for those who can take it. But just not for me. The basmati rice that came with the butter chicken smelled decadent and was so inviting. The garlic paratha smelled so buttery and was delicious as well. Then onto the dessert of Gulab Jamun and it was perfect to end the meal. Sweet and warm with the right amount of firmness to hold the shape. Easily my favorite Indian restaurant in Queens. Service is impeccable! The kindest servers Ive ever encountered. The food is also exceptional. I got the roll and it was so flavorful and filled with an array of flavors and textures. In my opinion, way better than the Kati Roll Company in the city. The mango lassis are also delicious! The bowls they offer are not only delicious but so aesthetically pleasing. Inside combines modern Indian flare with classic Indian vintage images. I've been trying five star yelp reviewed restaurants if i am going to a new restaurant. Yelpers do it again. This place is solid FIVE STARS. we ordered the samosas which were solid fove stars. Kale chips were amazing. Never had anything quite like kale chips but they were a solid five. I ordered the zag woth chickpea instead of the paneer. Really deep flavors and vegan friendly. The lamb Kati roll was tasty without being greasy, the shrimp curry was light and delicious, and the plant bowl was a giant, super fresh helping of grilled peppers & onions, vegetables, potatoes, and freekeh. We went in on a Monday Night right at opening time and got the entry window seat. They were currently redecorating the outdoor dining area with the ladies at Junoon Events. We were there quite a while so we saw the finished product and they did a phenomenal job! The ambiance was great. Ami was our server and he was very patient and informative as we were 3 Friends catching up. For appetizers we shared the samosas, which came with a serving of 3 and a tamarind chutney from heaven. We also had the Kale Fritters which I ate with the tamarind chutney because I couldn't have enough of it. I had the Lamb Shank special which came with potato croquettes and rice. It was very delicious and a huge portion that I had to take home with me; ate it the next day for lunch and it tasted just the same. We had the rice pudding for dessert and the house gave us a complimentary additional dessert that I can't remember the name of but the taste on both dishes was exquisite. It wasn't an overpowering sweetness which was great given how rich our meal was. Loved this place. Very clean, they are constantly cleaning tables and seating. That's one of my pet peeves sitting on a chair with crumbs or other debri. Not the case here. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly. The food was fresh, and not too spicy. Sometimes at places like this you can get bloated or feel it's spicy or salty. Everything was completely balanced here. I had high expectations based on the reviews. But, this place fell Flat. The paratha bread was tasteless and I've had it a few times before from different places. I ordered the chicken Tikka and the server kept suggesting the lamb or salmon. I'm really glad Tht I went with the chicken because the flavors just would have been worse. I left over half my plate and didn't take it home; big sign it was unsalvageable. My friend had the paneer and she thought her dish was okay. We went during HH and the drinks were $6. But, they add $2 for flavor mojitos. It would have been nice to be told about the up charge. I did like my drinks. My friend treated and it was $103 w/tip for 2 meals, 4 HH drinks & she ordered 2 breads. It was too high for me. But, it was because I didn't enjoy the food. Additionally, the server was not the most friendly; when I asked about one of the drinks, she replied she doesn't drink. Well, it could have been an off day. But, I definitely won't be going back. The only great local Indian place before Paratha Wala was Forest Hills Indian (which is also delicious). We've been wanting to try Paratha Wala for a while but just never got around to it, well that was a big mistake. Paratha Wala blows FH Indian out of the water. The prices are a bit higher but well worth it. We ordered over $100 worth of food and forgot to order the Paratha!!! BAHH!!! Luckily we ordered the Roll and got to try it, it was so fresh and delicious! Sweet Chili Wings - Crispy wings, sweet chili, and horseradish sauce I was hesitant to try this (over other items) but luckily my husband insisted. This was my favorite appetizer! The Wings were perfectly sauced and still crispy. But what kicked it out of this world was that deliciously light tasting yet distinctive horseradish sauce. I want to dip everything in it! Kale Fritters - Vegetarian. Vegan. Kale, onions, spiced chickpea batter, and mint-ranch This was so highly recommended but it wasn't super crispy when we received it. Its very heavy but it was yummy. I had some sand in 2 of my pieces but it was still good. The mint ranch sauce is so yummy. Samosa's - Vegan. Potato filling, green peas and peanut, sesame seeds served with tamarind & horseradish sauce Typical samosa's. I love samosa's. I wish it came with more typical sauces (the yogurt and mint) but dang that horseradish is good. Butter Chicken - Chicken tikka, creamy tomato sauce Oh, this was Gooooood. Let's just say there was no sauce left... I dipped whatever I had in the house in it, extra broccoli, chicken, whatever I could find hahaha. Lamb Biryani YASSSS! An awesome Lamb Biryani! Whenever we have Lamb biryani at a buffet, it's always good/great. But when we order it as a standalone dish, its a hit or miss. This was super spicy (at our request) and our favorite Fish Paratha Roll - Sriracha aioli, and slaw. Serrano Sauce. Desi Fries What a perfect lunch meal, or even a light dinner! I don't know if this would satiate my husband as a standalone meal but with the fries, its more than enough for me! The serrano sauce is spicy! But not too much so. Desi Fries were a little soggy but hey, it's delivery, not fresh from the kitchen. Double Daal Tadka - Yellow lentils, garlic tadka. Vegetarian At first I thought it was too salty. This is generally my favorite dish overall but it was my least favorite in this order. But when I reheated it the next day and mixed in all the cumin and garlic in the middle of the dish, it was delicious! Kheer Rice Pudding This was on the house (THANK YOU!) Everyone loved it. It had tasted like rice pudding with cumin? and had peaches or fruit in it? it was different but really good. Everyone kept going back for more. The only drawback was the amount of rice on the side. I think each dish came with a 1/2lb container (8oz) of rice. I could easily eat a ton more rice with the delicious sauces. And it doesn't help that the men in our family can easily eat 2 bowls of rice. Everything here was a few $ more than Forest Hills Indian but Paratha Wala is definitely a WINNER! We would order here again in a heartbeat. And that one thing that makes you want to pick this place over another? Those Sweet Chili Wings... or that horseradish sauce YUM!!! read more

I am 100% a fan! I've been watching this restaurant for a while now and I finally was able to stop in and enjoy an amazing meal. We were seated outdoor for an early dinner and it was a nice set up. So proud and grateful for the restaurants that were able adapt and are continuing to try their best during this difficult time. I was able to peak inside and the decor in there was really nice. We started off with apps-Fish Fritters and samosas. The fish fritters were my fav, so delicious especially with that sauce that comes with it. For entrees, I had the butter chicken and my friends tried the Chicken Masala Bowl and Lamb bowl. The food was great, we ate everything! I came here with 4 of my friends Friday night for dinner. We were late for our 7:30 reservation by 10 minutes but they were kind and accommodating and did not give us trouble for it. Our server, Amit, was very kind and made sure we were being taken care of. Note also that this place is halal. As the appetizer, we ordered golgappa. The shells were quite small and the filling was average. The pani also tasted a little odd. I think the Fuschka in Jackson Heights is better, so I would skip this as the appetizer completely. Amit mentioned that the chili wings and samosas were one of their more popular apps, so I would recommend those instead, although I haven't tried them yet. For our mains, we got the chicken paratha rolls, fish rolls, and masala potato rolls, each with egg. Each came with your choice of fries with green chutney or salad. The egg cost $1 more and I don't think it was worth it because I was unable to notice that there was an egg inside the roll and taste-wise I don't think it made a difference. The paratha itself was not flaky or buttery as it should have been but it was a decent level of thickness. The chicken roll tasted better than the potato roll (didn't taste the fish roll so can't speak for it). The chicken roll could use some more chicken inside as the salad inside overpowered the taste of the meat. The potato in the masala potato roll also needed to be more flavorful and was on the bland side. There was not enough masala. The paratha rolls vary in 3 levels of spicy. Most of us opted for "hot" which is chili and garlic and "mild" which I think is sriracha and some type of Mayo base. Either way, while the sauces worked well for dipping the side of fries, I don't think they went well with the rolls. The sauces seemed more appropriate for wings or fries, not a paratha roll. I think they need to come up with some sauces that pair better with the desi flavors as there was definitely a disconnect there. What I did like was the rose iced chai that I ordered. No complaints there. My friends ordered the rose lassi and coconut chai and they also enjoyed it. Overall, I think they still have some work to do with regard to the flavor and taste of their paratha rolls, given that the paratha is what they are supposed to be known for. They fillings were too bland, even with the sauces, and the paratha lacked the authentic flakiness and buttery goodness. read more

My review is a little delayed but I figured better late than never. I ordered for takeout twice Sept/Oct and was very impressed both times. They had my order ready very quickly and followed COVID-19 safety precautions when I went in to pickup. Between my gf and I we have tried the samosas, kale fritters, chicken tikka bowl, butter chicken, malai korma, garlic paratha, lamb paratha, rose basil lemonade and mango lassi. We've loved everything! Their samosas were especially impressive to me because I'm a big meat eater and usually feel like there's always something missing when there's no meat but I didn't have that thought this time.
