My girlfriend and I ordered from Paratha Wala for the first time through their online system. Given how good the reviews were, we were excited to try their food. When the food didn't arrive after 50 minutes, we tried to call them only to get a VM message that said they were closed at 10pm. Unfortunately, it was only 9:10. My girlfriend tried to get into their ordering system, but it wouldn't recognize her login. Ten minutes later she got a message that our order was cancelled. By then we had waited over an hour and ended up ordering from another place, which took another 30 minutes. My take is order delivery from Paratha Wala at your own risk. read more

I have never been so upset in my entire life. I'm half Bengali and because of tik tok I was so excited to try this place. Their samosas were so good as well as the mango lassi. I ordered a fish paratha roll and was given a plate and told it was fish. There was a lot of sauce so I couldn't tell.. the moment I took a bite I tasted the chicken and literally wanted to throw up. I've been pescatarian for years now I haven't eaten meat nor will I. I could get very sick from this. I understand that it was a mistake but what if I was deathly allergic. My friend got a fish roll and is allergic to fish. They offered to get me a new dish or any dish of my choice free of cost and even took the roll off my bill but it still wasn't enough. The least they could have done was comped the meal not just for those two items. They did give us desserts but I couldn't eat it still now typing this im nauseous from consuming chicken. We were excited to try this restaurant as we really enjoy our Indian food. The service was good and frequent. We started with the samosas that were very tasty. Our entrees were the railway chicken and the butter chicken. Overall fair to good entrees;  if we return, we would try something else. We also had the garlic paratha and the roti. Driving home from some sledding we were a bit hungry to put it mildly. As we passed some places on Metropolitan Ave. I told my husband to stop! What's that I said? I could smell beautiful spices filling the air and we saw a sign that said Paratha Wala. Of course we had to try it. We decided we would just try one dish and a garlic paratha. And guess what? This restaurant is amazing! I am so impressed with the chana masala and it's many flavors --even a hint of citrus--with just the right hint of spice. Service absolutely sucks!!! Food was decent as they destroyed our entire mood from the start. Had to wait 20 minutes for basic water and over 30 minutes for first drinks while we already finished all appetizers already. Seating is very tight as you can barely even hear others in your party as you are cramped between other tables. Had to push/move my table so the family next to us can get out. And not to mention- very very small tables. It's a nightmare trying to eat on the table. This is more of a fast casual spot as it seems like they just want you to eat very quickly and leave as no one even bothers to come check up on the tables. Wasted a lot of time trying to flag someone down and even then we had to keep reminding them that we are still waiting for items. They kept bringing wrong items that were meant for other tables as they only have 1-2 English speaking staff on hand, the rest just keep nodding there heads and eventually keep bringing other staff members who do understand. We reserved a table of 22 people and it was nice of them to accommodate us. we all ordered our own separate appetizers and entrees. I ordered an samosa chat and an egg roll for myself. Unfortunately when they started bringing out appetizers, mine never came out. I asked and followed up about it a few times and still nothing. I ended up munching from friends plates and eventually asked the sever to cancel my samosa chat since it never came. We were a large table at a busy time so I understood. When the entrees began coming out, again mine never came out. I waited, gave them some time and then asked them about my entree. I must have asked the same server about my egg roll 4x. Then I had my husband ask for it 2 more times. Every time we asked for it (total of 6x), the response was just a nod. No answer. Just a nod. Everyone finished their food and my food just never arrived after asking about the egg roll a total of 6x. I finally called the server and asked for him to cancel the egg roll. He didn't seem to mind it. He clearly knew I was the same person who had to cancel my appetizer and now my entree because it NEVER arrived. No apology. Just a nod. I left the restaurant famished and I was waiting for my husband to pull up the car. The same server came out with a small take out bag of their dessert. He handed it to me, apologized and said sorry "we never gave you anything so I brought this out for you". I appreciate the gesture but I'm sorry it was a little too late for that since I NEVER got to try their food. It was a sad dinner for me. While I refrain from writing negative reviews for small businesses because I know it can hurt their business, I couldn't stop myself from writing this one. I've tried different things and everything has tasted amazing but the real winner for me are the wings - they have been the best wings I've eaten in a LONG TIME. they're crunchy and moist and the dipping sauce is so darn good. This is the indian place NY has been missing all along! We ordered Dahi Bhalla, Lamb Roll and Chicken Tikka Bowl. Lamb roll: I saw someone portion-complaining about the lamb roll. However, it was just the prefect Kati roll size and please be advised that Kati rolls shouldn't come in wrap or burrito size. The paratha had the subtle notes of butter and the lamb fill was HOT (read desi hot) just the way any desi would want. Chicken tikka bowl: NY has been dry in terms of good biriyani rice. Every Indian place, regardless of their astounding ratings falls short when it comes to the rice. Paratha Wala's chicken tikka bowl clearly champions in the rice game as well. The portion is good and undisputed that comes with corn, pickled radish as sides. The chicken tikka itself is not like every other restaurants that turn out to be unauthentic and tangerine in color with overwhelming cream to compromise the spices. Recommended!! read more

Kale fritters is the star. Never had it like this anywhere else. A must try. We also get chicken wings and samosa. Both were excellent and I love the dipping sauce they offer. The sauce brings out different flavors and gives you a different journey in every bite. We love Indian flatbread so we also get the garlic paratha and roti. What a great meal we have.
