Fantastic addition to the neighborhood. We had a 1pm lunch and the staff were very helpful with explanations of the food as this was our first time having this cuisine. I always have a solid time at Paratha Wala, it's nice to have a desi spot near home with a more modern feel. Service is consistently timely and smooth. My usual picks - Samosa Chaat and Masala Fries - always hit the spot. Butter Chicken isn't mind blowing but still tasty. It comes with basmati rice but I like to get it with naan. Tried my friend's lamb, but the flavor wasn't my jam. I usually like mango lassi more but at this spot I like the piña colada better, I recommend trying theirs. For your first time there, stick to the classics for a good meal. I'll be going back to try some of the other things on the menu. My mom and I dined at Paratha Wala restaurant located on Metropolitan Avenue (Queens, NYC). We'd made it in time for an early dinner on a summer Saturday in 2022. As soon as we'd entered the restaurant, we were greeted by this very beautiful picturesque sign that'd read "You're like really pretty." That was the prettiest welcome! And this is what we'd ordered: - Mango Lassi for drinks - totally fresh and refreshing although they were from bottles. They'd put a touch of raspberry decoration on top of it. That was awesome. - For appetizers, we'd tried their kale fritters. Omghosh! I'm a fan of this kinda appetizer effectively now. The kale tasted as though it was right out of someone's garden..but it was so crispy and healthy kinda greasy. - For our main meal my mom ordered a Tikka Masala bowl filled with loads of diced sliced kinda chicken pieces covered with Tikka masala sauce, cucumbers, and pickled onions, fluffy quinoa and they had extra sauce on the side. - And I'd ordered their salmon bowl filled with two large pieces of salmon flavored with delicious spices, large cucumbers, and pickled onions, fluffy quinoa and they had extra sauce on the side. Very chic and well decorated place. They had a mix of flavors that hit well. We got the lamb roll that had an almost minty undertone but was hearty and high quality. We also got a tikka masala bowl that was decent. Our kids tried the cheese pasta and ate it well along with some roti. It was good ears. They were understaffed the day we went and still they were very attentive and understanding of a family with 3 kids. Definitely a place to try. read more

I've been looking for more places in the area that offer delicious meat-free options and this place delivered. I ordered the Golgappa, Bhel Poori, Masala Fries -- all from the street food menu, Rose lemonade, and the Ginger Mint Heaven. The only thing I ordered that I could have done without were the masala fries. They just didn't do anything for me and lacked something... I don't know what though. However, everything else I ordered was simply delicious and I was blown away by the prices. With the exception of the cocktail, everything was under $7 each. I wish I could buy the lemonade by the pitcher it was that good. I will definitely be a repeat customer to this establishment and will recommend that everyone comes here. Our favorite was butter chicken, Chicken wings and Karachi Keema paratha. Very good ! The beef bowl has more rice than meat but it was still extremely tasty. We also ordered the Pav bhaji and it was good but I would've enjoyed it way more if they didn't blend everything together like you don't see or taste the potato and cauliflower you just have to hope that's what you're eating. I kept seeing all the positive reviews for Paratha Wala, and since I was in the mood for Indian/Bangali food, decided to drive 45 minutes just to try it (yes, I get bored of all the Indian restaurants lacking flavor and spice where I live). We started with the Kale Fritters and the Samosa Chaat. First thing I noticed is the superb presentation. This is something that's always missing in Indian restaurants, so I was delighted to see that. But what good is presentation if the food isn't up to par, right? And to my content, both appetizers were very good. Who knew that you could cook kale as Pakoras? The fritters were something different and very creative and you could hardly make out the bitter taste of kale. And if you like Samosa Chaat, I recommend that you try the ones here! For my entree, I had the Butter Chicken. Once again, it was perfectly cooked. The flavor was on point! And for dessert we shared the Mango Mouse Cake which was also delicious. I also had a Rose Lassi which was a little heavy, but a great ending to our meal. There was a lot of thought put into the decor of the restaurant. Nothing too fancy, but a nice touch of Indian and Bangali culture. There's a tin wall full of ornaments such as rikshaws, lanterns, and an ektara. Another wall of a mural of Shah Rukh Khan, Lata Mangeshkar, A.R. Rahman, and Deepika. And let's not forget the Instagram infamous wall that looks like neon writing in a jungle. Our waiter, Nehal (I apologize if I spelled his name wrong), was excellent. He knew the dishes so well and knew exactly how they were cooked. Plus he was very nice and made sure to check up on us when we needed something. Paratha Wala is exactly what I craved! I've passed by this place many times on my walks and saved it to my Yelp collection. On a nice Friday afternoon stroll with my dad I finally had the pleasure of popping in this place. Aesthetically this place is the cutest, there's a few "instagramable" moments especially with the "you're like really pretty" sign. They do have a small garden that wasn't quite set up j yet, as the weather I just getting warmer. However it was the cutest anyway ( I saw the vision ) :) The food was great. We went for the kale fritters as an appetizer and we both had the salmon bowl. I added avocado to mine and my dad added a hard boiled egg to his. For dessert we tried the ultra cute rice pudding in a martini glass. We both had non alcoholic drinks. I had the lychee lemonade, pure delish! Maria was our server and she was great! My partner and I visited them in Forest Hills recently and had such a lovely time! The staff is so kind, welcoming and helpful with any questions. They also have some adorable interior decor, and every dish we tried was a hit! My favorite was the slow cooked Lamb Shank that practically falls off the bone! For drinks, I really enjoyed the Rose Lassi. It's a fun twist to opt for instead of the usual mango flavor. We also ordered the Coconut Salmon Curry which was completely devoured within minutes! And if you're feeling extra hungry, I suggest getting one of their Indian street food dishes as an appetizer. We tried the Samosa Chaat: classic samosa topped with chickpeas, tamarind and cilantro mint chutney, sweet yogurt, chopped tomatoes, onions and crispy sev. And for dessert, a classic Gulab Jamun: fried milk dumplings in a sweet syrup If you haven't dined there yet, plan a visit! I've been wanting to come here when they first opened. First, let me say, I'm a huuuge fan of Indian food. I've had some excellent, high-end Indian that was Michelin-rated quality and Paratha Wala is right up there with Manhattan and London's best! All the food I tried is freshly made with the highest quality ingredients. Their home made rasmalai is sweet, delicious and perfection. Can't wait to try their gulab jamun. Their desi fries were well seasoned and their paratha sandwich was excellent. The chicken tikka bowl was the best I've ever had, hands down. The prices and portions are reasonable for the high quality of food. They're working on their alcohol selections and for the meantime are BYOB. The decor has many trinkets of traces from Bangladesh, you can even play some karom while you wait for your food! They're far from the most traditional of Indian restaurants, but Paratha Wala is certainly one of my favorites in the borough. Their location breathes good life into Metropolitan, which has seen its hardships especially during the pandemic. And even during the worst moments in Queens, they've still managed to remain one of the highest rated businesses in NYC. The reason boils down to two things: outstanding food and excellent service. The restaurant is modern and relatively small with a narrow shot of intimate seating arrangements along the wall, facing the counter window of a kitchen that is usually bursting with a hunger inducing aroma. The murals are what drew me initially, and I appreciate their mini-bar out front. Overall the decor and ambiance are simple but presents a tasteful mix of hip and modern flair. The food shines in a big way. Their "bowls" were not a sell to me at first, but they make for a nice assembly of quality fare. Their paneer bowl for instance is the perfect vegetarian meal option and the cheese tastes like it's made in house. I have enjoyed their chicken tikka bowl from time to time and I really enjoy their paratha rolls. The samosas are lovely, with a nice amount of crisp and hearty stuffing of potato and spices. I'm super high on their chaats, which are tasty all around and presented incredibly well. Their kale fritters are fantastic, as is their dahi bhalla and sweet chilli wings. Even items that aren't what they're known for, such as the biriyani (with anything), saag paneer, chole pori, and even their desi crab cakes / fries (from a couple of years ago) were ridiculously good. The fact they offer actual cocktails (#1) along with standard beers and wines, *and* a happy hour, makes this place a lot more versatile than one's average Indian spot. Prices for the entrees range from $16-20 each. While the prices might feel high, I've seen much higher in the city for far more mediocre quality / execution. If I'm going to cough up a dollar or two more, I'd certainly rather do it here. Lastly, the service gets a major hat tip (#2) for always being on top of it. They get drinks / food out in a timely manner and are always good about making substitutions for dietary restrictions. They are truly one of the best in Queens. I would see this restaurant as I drove down metropolitan avenue and always wanted to try it. Soon as you walk in there is amazing art work all over the walls. I completely was in love!
