Great addition to Forest Hills! The Chicken Kathi roll is awesome. Tender chicken, crispy green veggies, pickled onions paired with crunchy "McDonald's" like skinny fries with a spicy aioli or mint ranch dipping sauce. The Lamb Kathi roll is also filled with crisp veggies as well as shredded lamb but was a little dry even while shredded. The Coconut Shrimp Curry is delicious over basmati rice. The shrimp is probably the 25-30 count variety with about 6 shrimps per order. The mild coconut delicately complements a milder curry and the delicate shrimp nicely. Veggie Kale Fritters mixed with onions, spiced chickpea batter with the familiar mint-ranch dipping sauce was not overly salted, as is generally the case sometimes with trying to add flavor to kale. These fritters stayed crunchy even with takeout rides home. The Crab Cakes may or may not be jumbo lump given that it was shredded but it had little filler and had a nice crunchy coating. This was paired with a sriracha aioli and slaw. The Amarti Fish is an ok appetizer. The fish is cut a little too thin and the batter is a bit too thick and overpowering. I end up dipping these fish fingers into whatever curry I get for more flavor. It's nice to have a great Indian restaurant in FH. The folks here are also super friendly and inviting. read more

The food was fantastic! The Amritsar fish stood out--crispy, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. That said, the portion size was quite small and felt a bit pricey. Additionally, the overall prices weren't ideal; for instance, we ordered Lamb Biryani with a boiled egg and avocado, and there was an extra charge, which I wasn't accustomed to. Despite this, the quality of the food was truly exceptional. I MUST HIGHLIGHT the excellent service provided by Vani (apologies if the name is misspelled). Our hostess, Amina, was outstanding and helped my wife and I find our new favorite local dishes. I'm a vegetarian and Amina was incredibly helpful in describing what would go well together based on my questions. I ended up ordering the vegetable samosas and naan filled with potato along with a delicious chick pea dish. Spicy but not too spicy, perfectly seasoned. This Bangladeshi-Indian restaurant is a gem. Modern Desi cuisine, but not the gimmicky fusion food. We've become regulars here and have yet to eat or drink anything bad. The long and narrow restaurant is fairly roomy for our family of four with trendy Bollywood actors and neon encouragements like "spill the chai" and "you're like really pretty." Aw shucks, thanks! There's a cool backyard patio open area in warmer months (but it's a little mosquitoe-y, be warned). The one bathroom is always clean - it's the little things. Really delicious and perfect beverage to accompany the below dishes. Chicken biryani $10.95 - Incredible!! Such a punch of flavor. Took the first bite and I felt the wind knock out of me. The aroma of the seasonings mixed in with the rice, tenderness of the chicken, and texture of each bite really made this dish stand out. Nicely done. Spicy but so good. I can tolerate a small amount of spice and this was worth my many sips of water/mango lassi. Butter chicken (chiken tikka) $14.95 - a must try dish whenever I'm at an Indian restaurant. This was divine. Loved it. Threw that whole bowl of basmati rice in the tub of meat. Mixed it up and was a happy camper. I could seriously just have this dish and be very happy. The sauce is delicious and well infused with the chicken. Salmon bowl $14.95 - this dish felt very healthy and light. Added some of the white sauce to it and it was just as good, even though we picked a different vinaigrette. It was very refreshing in flavor and taste. Good way to end a spicy meal. The freekeh reminds me of a cous cous or quinoa. So glad we have more variety in the neighborhood with the addition of Paratha Wala. Great food, good people, friendly and quick service. The portion sizes were very reasonable and good for sharing. I would definitely return to try the paratha rolls. Amazing food all around. I've been to a handful of Indian spots. There's usually few to none that ever makes me go back due to over cooked meats or just straight fire to your mouth! But this SPOT! definitely hits the belly in all the right places! The meat is SO tender and the stewed curry sauces is just right! Right balances of spices and sweetness to the savory. We had a hankering for Indian food, which we hadn't ordered out for since the start of COVID-19 so we whipped out our phones and sought Yelp's help to find a place that was open and well-reviewed. We had most recently ordered from Jassi's in New Hyde Park and Rajdhani in Queens Village several months ago and wanted to try something new. Saw Paratha Wala, and it was under 15 minutes away so we gave them a go. Our order consisted of the Fish Paratha Roll & fries, Butter Chicken, & Chicken Biryani. The fish roll was a quality appetizer & full of flavor, especially with the sauce. The fries were tasty and had some zesty green chutney on it for an added punch of flavor. The only downside was that the fries got a little soggy by the time we got home but I guess that should have been expected. The butter chicken was really good although a little on the sweeter side (everyone may not prefer that, but we didn't mind as much). Moderation was key with this dish, but it was cool since we shared dishes. Wife and I agreed that the chicken biryani was the star of this order. Good flavor (but not spicy) and accompanied by a small container of raita. There was plenty of chicken mixed in and that's not often the case with biryanis from other places we have picked up from in the past. They also have outdoor seating, and street parking was not too hard to find on a mid-weekday evening around 7pm. They told us the order would be ready in 15-20 minutes and it was indeed ready when we arrived. I definitely want to dine in next time to really experience the food at the height of its freshness. I was eager to check this place out because it has a fun, fresh look that stands out on Metropolitan Ave. My husband and I finally got to try it for outdoor dining and I'm so glad we did. The manager, Raj, is exceptionally welcoming and helpful. The menu reminds me a bit of Dishoom in London in that it makes ordering easy for people who aren't that familiar with Indian food. We tried the kale fritters, salmon bowl and chicken biryani. The kale fritters are delicious-crispy and full of flavor, especially with the yogurt sauce. The entrees were also bursting with flavor, and we both had enough left over for lunch. I love that you can choose the level of spice, and would recommend going with the most mild option if you're unsure. My husband went that route and his dish still had tons of flavor and just enough heat. I find most healthy options in Forest Hills to be pretty bland, so it's exciting to have a spot with healthy (and vegetarian) options that taste great and leave you feeling good after. They're awaiting their liquor license and have a great variety of NA drinks in the meantime. I had the iced chai (coconut/cinnamon) and look forward to trying the rose version and the mango lassi. The iced chai was so good I was tempted to order a second! The desserts also look excellent, especially the mango mousse cake. They are extremely cognizant and respectful of COVID safety, and the outdoor dining setup is among the most attractive and secure of any I've seen in Forest Hills, including a solid cover from the elements. I wish you could give half stars as the food here was definitely more in the 3.5 range. Solid food with the right flavors but just under-salted. Once I added salt to both our dal tadka and my husband's lamb, we could taste the full range of flavors in the dishes. His lamb still lacked spice. He ordered it medium but it didn't have any heat at all. This is definitely Indian food geared to a non-Indian audience. The kale fritters were tasty but a tad dense. Still, I'd recommend them as they weren't oily and the flavor was good. Service and atmosphere were warm and nice. I had the chicken tikka bowl, which had a nice variety of ingredients and was more than filling by itself. My friends shared several dishes such as spinach paneer and butter chicken, plus parathas, which they enjoyed as well. It was a double birthday celebration and Vani, the waitress, made a special effort to make the dinner perfect in every way, from frequently filling our water glasses to singing a celebratory song. We stopped by here cuz it was the closest 'halal' place to my graduation ceremony and we were starving. To start off it's super sus that the word halal was nowhere in sight in the restaurant. When asked for a certificate the woman at the counter said she can't show us cuz its in the office and she doesn't have access to it. Super sus. I also don't like trusting so-called 'halal' establishments which also carry alcohol. Probably will not go again since it's difficult to verify if they actually serve halal meat. I had the mango lassi, which I'm still shook at the price. More than 7 bucks for something I could finish in 3 gulps. I actually measured it when I got home and that container can only carry a cup of liquid. And the lassi was so basic, you could tell they used a canned puree of mango, not the fresh stuff. And idk what was in it, maybe some preservative or thickener, but after drinking it I did not feel refreshed at all. My tongue became so dry. Like literally white. I kept on drinking water, probably finished two whole bottles of water and nothing would stop it. It was so weird. And the fact that a drink as basic as that was almost 10 bucks, a literal scam. The aloo paratha roll was boring. The potato mixture wasn't fresh and the filling was dry. Overpriced. The biryani was also disappointing. The lamb had an overly strong gamey smell that overpowered the entire biryani. The lamb pieces were chewy. It was bland, could've used more spices. The raita they gave was so tiny in comparison to the portion of rice, its laughable. Everything was overpriced so we ordered only a few things. I mean, I think one of their chicken rolls was like 16 bucks. And their food, from what I had so far was pretty plain jane, basic, nothing special, could be a lot better. My boyfriend and I had a lunch date here and we're extremely pleased with the service and the food. We were welcomed with warm smiles and greetings and quickly seated at our table. We were promptly asked if we would like any drinks and the wait time was very minimal as well. All of the food was delicious, we couldn't stop complementing the chef! This is such a cute place! I loved the little carom board, wall art and the subtle Indian music - not overbearingly loud so you can still have a proper conversation without yelling at each other. It was still good after heating it up in the microwave but it's definitely one of those things that are better to eat when it's nice and fresh.
