My kids and I like this place for its location. The store is usually clean and there's definitely a good variety of beautiful delicious pastries if you dont have any dietary restrictions. This place impressed me immediately with lots of parking and being easily accessible to get inside. Things like having clean floors and a clean area inside with plenty of seating, even though they seemed busy. What did not impress me was the system of having a tray in tongs where children are involved. Through no fault of their own, I brought my three young children with me, and let them choose what they would like. My children chose to fill up their trays with donuts and sweet treats that cost about six dollars each. I couldn't say no to macarons as well, and with the addition of trendy drinks like multiple matchas and pistachio lattes, we were quickly saying goodbye to a Benjamin Franklin. On the bright side, I took the mom tax of most things and everything actually did taste delicious. The place was clean and the customer service was good too. All of the cashiers were quite young, but they were quick to be helpful. And they did not get annoyed at questions, which most places around here do. They had water cups for us to get, but the cups were quite small. If that's my only complaint, you can bet that this place is worth a visit. read more

I'm very familiar with Paris Baguette, having lived in Korea, where it originated. It seemed like there was a Paris Baguette on every corner in Seoul. This was my first time trying a Paris Baguette in the USA, and I was eager to see what I would find at this location in downtown Birmingham. The design is just like the ones in Korea, and the pastries are also similar. I enjoy their sandwiches, especially the Harvest Chicken Salad Sandwich. If I worked nearby, I would stop by several times a week to eat their sandwiches for lunch. I also tried the Blueberry Chiffon Cake, which was fluffy and not too sweet. It was a very light Asian bakery style cake. This is a wonderful addition to downtown Birmingham, and I will stop by again. read more

It's always fun to visit a bakery named "Paris Baguette" that's actually Korean. What a vibe. Honestly though, I'd been meaning to visit this place for awhile, and it was easy enough to pop in on a Friday morning. They have a great amount of pastries, and we picked up some pan de chocolate, apple strudel, a raspberry tart, and, most importantly, PASTEL DE NATA. Forgive this rant. After visiting Portugal, I became obssessed with pastel de nata, but I've found they're impossible to find outside of Jersey City, NJ (which has a sizeable Portuguese population. I about lost it when I saw they offered them here. I picked a couple up and was pleasantly surprised. They weren't a complete home run (could have used more cinnamon imo), but they're the closest I've gotten to since visitng Jersey City. I would 100% come back just for these. The vibe here was pretty clean and chill. We enjoyed our light breakfast and coffee. I'm not sure it's quite worth the hype I've heard surrounding it, but it's still a perfect addition to Downton Birmingham. Choose your own goodies. Hard to go wrong. Always a win. read more

The place is a cute bakery. The staff were very nice. It was not what I was expecting from what unheard of this place. I picked a ham and cheese breakfast croissant and chicken Caesar wrap that you find in the refrigerated area. The staff asked if we wanted them heated up. I also got a chai tea latte. The chai tea was great you could taste the nutmeg and cinnamon in it with a little ginger. We also got a pastry custard tart. The tart was very sweet. My husband and I stopped by to indulge in some delightful looking pastries. There was a plethora of delicious varieties to choose from. I settled on the fruit custard tart and my husband tried the strawberry croissant. Both were pretty good. Very fresh and very delicious. The cashier lady was very helpful with the coffee service and it was an excellent compliment to my pastry. Very well lit, plenty of tables and benches with outdoor dining as well. I loved the display cabinets that allowed for self selection of items. They also make cakes (pre order available) for parties and such. Overall the pastries were delicious and full of butter. I will say for allergens it is not great as everything doesn't have a barrier between the items so cross contamination is possible. I had been wanting to stop by here for a while now - I think it's the only Paris Baguette in the state, I believe, or at least in Metro Detroit. My office just moved to Birmingham and I stopped by yesterday, and was able to walk from there to Paris Baguette. They have a huge selection of cakes, pastries, and other goodies. Most started at $2.95 or $3.95, I believe, and the tiramisu cake slice was $6.95. I got the tiramisu cake slice, a tiramisu tart, and a mochi donut, because I've never tried one before. They also have full cakes for about $45. The tiramisu cake was my favorite of the three; the tart had a bit too much dusting on it, and I liked the mochi donut a lot, but it was a bit pricey ($4.95). I'll definitely be back here to try the rest of the menu though. read more

I had very high expectations for this bakery as it came highly recommended. Additionally, the items on the website looked fantastic, so I was excited to come here. When I entered, I was surprised by the unexpected setup: you pick up a tray and tongs and help yourself. There seemed to be more items online than in the store, but I could be mistaken. I had so many items on my mental list, that I had wanted to try but when I got there, I decided to go with a few first, before ordering more. I was a bit put off by how tired and sad some of the baked goods looked. In the end, I went with the coffee croissant donut and the jumbo twisted donut. This bakery fits right in with the Birmingham vibe. I wish this place was around when I was a student at Derby or Seaholm. We didn't have much for treats except Marty's Cookies (old timers will remember this sweet place). I really wanted a Cronut after seeing my friend post her Paris Baguette photo back in Maryland. This location only had a coffee and lemon version. So, lemon it was. It was really good. Sorry for the mangled photo, but I wanted to show off the inside. Was it worth $5.39? Yes, it was. It was fresh and airy. I would love to try other flavors. I also bought two crab croquettes. They were cheaper, can you believe at $4-something each. I didn't snap a pic, but they looked just like the curry croquette posted here. There wasn't a lot of filling, but what was there was sweet and a bit spicy. Mom and I had them for dinner with a side and a baguette from here that was super fresh and had a nice crisp outside and soft inside. Thank you to the French-sounding gentleman that retrieved a loaf for me. I was able to park right outside at a metered spot, and added money so I could browse my old stomping grounds. I stopped in on a Saturday morning. I had a coffee and croissant. The coffee was good. The croissant was good. The croissant had a sweet, sticky glaze I could have done without. It is different in that you get a tray and pick your bakery items with tongs and then go to the register. It reminded me of a quick mart. Checkout was slowwww. This cute bakery on old Woodward is a great place to grab coffee and a treat with friends. You grab a tray, wax paper and tongs when you enter and make your selections from the multiple display cases. I selected a strawberry cream crossaint and an apple danish type of thing. I also ordered an iced vanilla latte. I didn't know you could request your items warmed at the counter. Both items were delicious but the apple danish would be better warmed. Overall, this place was pretty average in terms of the quality of their pastries. The setup is fun, where you get a tray and choose the pastries you want and take it to the register. They had a large selection of pastries. My favorite was the Nutella cronut which was flaky and soft. The almond croissant was ok, not as good as other places I've tried. I wish they had more savory options. The savory options on the day I went had mostly pork in it. They also have cakes that look pretty, but I did not try. Let me begin by saying, Paris Baguette is my favorite place to go for great coffee, delish pastries and a book or friend. And I gave and still give 5 stars for staff and food. Lately though, the place is a mess. The other day, they ran out of napkins. How does a place like this run out of napkins! Today, the napkin dispenser was empty but there was a messy stack next to it. The milk is very often empty and the milk/napkin area is always coffee stained. Outside, the tables are dirty too. The upholstered chairs need a stain removal cleaning. My last 2 visits, I sat outside at tables belonging to the neighboring place. The staff is hard working and very professional and polite. We opted for a savory pastry with an actual hash brown in the middle and topped with ham and cheese. They warmed it up and it was perfection. We also got a cronut with a creme filling and some sort of weird little cinnamon sugar fried ball with filling. The peach iced tea is so good, highly recommend. Staff was super kind. Ok this is kind of hard to rate, because I was taken here by my nephew who loves it. The main item of focus seems to be their cronuts. I would give those a 4 and tell you to try them. Then they have other bakery and cafes items. All ok. Croissants, almond croissants, pain au chocolat, etc. These are alright, but Blue Canary on 14 Mile is more authentically French and far better for these items. And then it is kind of a cafe too, with coffee. Tries to do several things but none of them great. Try Commonwealth (nearby) or New Jersey Bagel (lincoln) or Blue Canary. All are way better at some part of what this place is trying to do. read more

Unlike the competitor, Tous Les Jours, this place had enough pastries to sell through out the day. Even at around 6-7pm, shelves were full. I did not try any of the pastries but they looked good. I got a piece green tea strawberry cake and matcha frappe. I would not get matcha frappe again as it was just okay. Green tea strawberry cake was good. Worth the drive?.... Depends We live out in Chesterfield and we'll this in Birmingham about a good 40 min drive. If your heading to Birmingham on a Friday pack your patience, parking is abundant around the pastry shop but it will be pack, we walked about a block to get to it. The inside store was ..... Eh I spotted a dirty table, and the cabinets were empty for several items, when asked if they had any more of a certain item I received "What's out there is out there no more" We also grabbed coffee, which was mixed up no name or stickers telling what is what... I had to return my drink because it wasn't what I wanted. After I returned and got what I needed the coffee was adequate at best. The pastries were good, the on in the photo lower right was good.... But the table was covered in chocolate dust super messy. The others were also good, I personally HATE dry pastries all of these items had a filling. I'd rather go somewhere closer to our home then driving this distance, maybe it was a off day but it wasn't the best unfortunately read more
