My family and I ordered goodies to go from Paris Bakery during our recent stay in Monterey and they were delicious! Along with a few pastries, we ordered two lattes. Both were great - their espresso was bold and the flavors we chose (cinnamon bun, vanilla and oat milk in one and sugar free hazelnut and vanilla and almond milk in the other) made the drinks extra creamy and yummy. For pastries, we got a cherry croissant, two almond croissants, a cranberry scone, and a sticky bun. The almond croissants had tons of almond paste inside, which made them an absolutely perfect treat. The cherry croissant had a nice balance of tart and sweet. The sticky bun was crunchy and sugary in the best way, and the cranberry scone was a lightly sweet and tart treat for breakfast. Definitely a crowded place - and we went right around the time they opened - so I'd recommend getting there early or taking things to go. The London fog cake and strawberry pastry we had did not taste fresh, the cake was very dry/ hard ended up in the trash, pastry felt soggy. The staffs cannot handle the work. They are overwhelmed, Items are misplaced, the staffs don't hear half your order, and they will add items you did not pick. I wanted to add item to my order but the staff taking my order was rude and refused to add the item. Take your receipt because I'm sure I paid for an item and did not receive it. Poor management. Staff needs to be retrained. Quality of food is poor. There is nothing good at this bakery. Everything from the bakery items to the staffs were disappointing. read more

Friendly staff and pleasant interactions. There was a line to order that went all the way outside, but it's fun to chat with other customers and didn't take long. Ordered 2 almond croissants and I do not recommend. I like to order almond croissants at every bakery I go to and compare, these were closer to a danish than a croissant. Not flakey at all and it felt extremely undercooked. Filling was not flavorful as well. I ended up giving away the second one to someone in line instead of taking it home. Ham and egg croissant was good, I think the plain croissant were the best thing we tried. Buttery and flakey, wish there was more egg and my girlfriend had very little ham in hers. Portions were inconsistent but suitable for the price. Tiramisu is not a tiramisu. Has a chocolate base with chocolate moose and no flavor of espresso. Felt mislabeled as tiramisu but was not horrible. Wedding cookie was not great. Sticky bun was more like an apple fritter and was a letdown because it looked so tasty. Coffee was extremely watery and chai latte was basically cinnamon milk. Lots of customers were stopping by after their morning run and enjoying a treat in the sunny atmosphere. Came here to have some morning treats and spend a couple hours working during a beautiful summer morning. They have a great selection of drinks and baked goods, including non-coffee options. Bread, cakes, American style pastries, and viennoiseries. London fog is sweetened steamed milk with a tazo brand earl grey tea bag. It was tasty but maybe a touch sweet for me. With a name like Paris Bakery, I was expecting great things from the puff pastry, but most of their croissants looked pretty sad and flat. The chocolate croissant was the most puffy, but even that had a bit of a disappointing texture. Not much of the big fluffy layers you want in a croissant. But I still experienced sticker shock when my Choc Almond Croissant ran up to $5.38 + tip. I think I paid $3 in 2020. It is really BIG, though, more than I can eat in one sitting. It is very, very sweet, even with my bitter coffee to balance it out. How will I keep it a secret from hubby? He doesn't like croissants, so I can't say I left hal for him! He will give me a hard time for treating myself, but if I bought him a Danish that he likes, I'd spend more than $10 for both, and I'd catch he'll for that if he looks over the credit card statement. I have been going to Paris Bakery for years. I have always been treated with the upmost courtesy until today at lunchtime. A tall man with longish hair and a baseball cap rudely ordered us to go to the back of the line, even though it was not clear there was line. Then when we finally got to the cask register, he rudely ordered us to stay away from the cash register area until our order was finished.(We didn't notice our order was still being worked on.) I said to him " You can't order me around like a child, please say 'Please''! I am an elderly men, I expect to be treated with respect, I have never encountered such a rude employee. Can you stop at one bread? We stopped by for some sweets and coffee. I don't think the coffee was anything to write home about but the pastries were awesome and we took home some bread and buns and they were great. Mother's Day weekend, such a disappointing experience. I am a regular customer over 10 years at this location, and I can certainly say they are out of their minds ! Prices have rise, not only prices have rise but definitely selling bread that's old and not fresh at all such as almond croissants,cinnamon raisins rolls, and cinnamon twist and when you asked them if they are fresh they straight lie to your face and say they are fresh every morning I'm able to taste the texture and observe the way the bread looks and it definitely not fresh AT ALL! We've passed by this place plenty of time and have seen the line on the sidewalk for people waiting to get inside. Well, we finally decided to give it a try. Parking was a bit tricky as it was a busy Saturday morning. Curbside parking is metered and enforced vigorously and there are private parking for other businesses. We found a parking spot a block away, but since the weather was beautiful, we enjoyed our walk. The line went out through the door but the wait was minimal (10 minutes at most). The young lady that helped was tried her best but she seemed a little flustered with all the customers that were there. We had to repeat our order a few times to make sure she got them right. I ordered the breakfast bagel, but they were already sold out. I got the ham and cheese croissant instead. The croissant was flaky and delicious. The ham and cheese was not overwhelming and balanced the saltiness of the ham and sweetness of the cheese. I just wished I had asked for it to be heated. My wife ordered the creme cheese croissant. She throughly enjoyed it. The cream cheese was not sweet at all and the croissant was flaky and fresh. The atmosphere was upbeat and had plenty of positive vibe. The customers were friendly courteous with each other. We definitely enjoyed the vibe of this place. Do make a note that the seating inside and outside is very limited, but the turn around seemed to be quick, so we were able to find a table for two. We recommend this place! read more

It's been a few years since I've been here, Saturdays are pretty busy but there's enough staff to handle people from every direction. It's a bit overwhelming for all the options! By far the best, best overall is the strawberry almond croissant! Worth coming by just for that! Of course attempted to be healthy and started with ham and cheese croissant, good, but nothing special. They do have a tiny list of gluten free options. Went to Paris Bakery Cafe at 9 am on Monday morning October 13, 2025 and ordered a coffee which was in a jug that one self-pours - it was cold and weak, but to the cafes credit they made me an Americano instead. Next up, I bought a baguette which it tried a couple of hours later and it was definitely a day-old baguette. Not cool, and on top of that I could just tell that it wasn't a quality bread. Would never buy one again. I bought 5 pastries for $30 and they were average at best. Would not recommend this bakery to anyone who expects anything close to the pastries, coffeee and bread one would expect to find in Paris France where they really take pride in baking and food in general. I went to Monterey many times and I saw the Paris Bakery. This time I decided to get some of the stuff for my breakfast. I ordered an Almond croissant and Ham and cheese croissant. Both are delicious and crunchy but I liked the Almond Croissant more than the ham and cheese. The line was long but it moved fast. The service was good and the ambience was nice cozy with a little decoration on the walls. It is a French style bakery. It is a good place for the breakfast and lunch. Came here to get some croissants for the office. Got a dozen of different ones. I only tried the chocolate one and will say it was good. Gave 4 stars because staff was great. If I could do half would probable give 3.5 for the actual croissant. Would go back for sure. Used to visit often when in the area so stopped by for pastries last week. We tried the eclair, croissant and a slice of fruit crème torte. The eclair was coated with chocolate but the cream inside was also chocolate and way too sweet. We didn't think to ask about the filling first but thought it would be ok. The sweetness overwhelmed any chocolate flavor. The croissant was not flavorful. It was ok. The fruit torte was beautiful and the fruit was fine but the crème was gluey and again, too sweet. Couldn't taste any vanilla. The crust was very thick and a poor match for the delicate fruit and crème. Heavy. It's always busy and loud here and that's great. Folks were enjoying themselves! They were using a new checkout system and it needs work. After the person put our order in a box, they handed it to me to take to the cashier who was helping someone else. No one told me what to do and the man being helped kept backing up to give me the space because he was waiting for food but the cashier didn't seem to know how to proceed. Just when she decided to help me, the man's food showed up so she stopped to help him. All good but not efficient. There are now lots of tastier places to try so we will. read more

Have always stopped here when in town. Went there at 8:30 this morning. Something was very wrong. My Pain an Chocolat was dry, firm without any flakiness at all. These were always my favorite, but today it tasted like it was at least a day old and seemed a bit cool on the inside. Also bought a Cinnamon Twist, same thing, firm, dry and no flakiness. Kindness goes a long way! If you need to correct, speak to the employee in the back, don't make a scene and do it in a nice way! We were not ready to order because we were looking at the pastry items inside the case/display and got skipped. We had to say that we were next because they kept taking other people's orders. They work and get through the customers very quickly to get the customers in and out of the bakery. We ordered the ham croissant (5 out of 5), chocolate croissant (5 out of 5), and an apricot pastry (2 out of 5).
