When I travel for work, this place is on my campus. Very convenient to grab a quick breakfast on the walk to the office. First off is the staff. I didn't catch her name but after two visits she remembered my name. Nice to be greeted with a smile so early in the morning. I had a couple items...the blueberry cardamom yogurt parfait and the bacon and egg sandwich. Fantastic flavor profile on the yogurt! The sandwich was equally delicious. The brioche bun was fresh and puffy. Good quality bacon and cheese. Loved them both. This place makes my list for return trips for work. read more

This place has a good amount of options, but it is way too pricey for me. I ended up just getting the Beet Salad from Best Dressed, which I honestly really enjoyed. It was one of the only items I saw that was worth the money. Some of my coworkers got the poke bowls and I couldn't believe how little they got for nearly $20. It was a joke and it didn't even look that flavorful. I'd come back to the area just to hangout, but the food isn't a necessity when coming here. read more

I will say, these places are a bit pricey for what they serve. It is cafeteria style where you order from whichever stall you like & grab a table in the communal area, indoors or outdoors. Came here for lunch with coworkers. This place has been around for a while but I never visited it because I thought they had mainly burgers. But I was wrong and was pleasantly surprised to find a lot of salad options. I got the Asian chicken salad with dressing on the side. It's mainly kale with a lot of toppings and grilled chicken. Dressing was ok (I'm not really a dressing or sauce type of person, so it's hard to win me over on the dressing), the salad toppings were great but the star for me was the chicken! Grilled well-seasoned chicken breast was very tasty. One small complaint is that they could cut the kale a bit to make it easier to eat. But all restaurants do this so I guess that's the way it is around here. I like the concept. Very airy and pleasant setting, good variety of food to choose from. They just added a new vendor to their other four options, and this one specializes in Indian dishes. I went there specifically to get the fried chicken sandwich but the chicken tikka masala looked intriguing enough to lure me away from it. I am pleased I did. The curry was really good, and with their fragrant rice, was a perfect lunch. The portion is a good size too. I also tried the samosas and naan. Next time, I'm getting a double order of the naan which was so good with the curry. The have four different sauces - I tried all four. They add a different flavor profile to the dishes. TLDR - Rip off at full price. Must have the discount to eat here. Small portions. Really, unless you work at the Tech Center (AND get the discount) there is nothing special to make you drive to eat here. I've been eating here since they opened as Park Commons is located in my business center. The food here is very expensive when paying full price. Most of the businesses in the tech center receive a 40% discount and this is HUGE, except my business no longer receives the discount, so I stopped eating here as much. To get the discount we had to download an app, they had no real way of discounting us at the check out terminals, and this was a fail from a planning perspective. Food: The food is generally ok, but not for the price. The poke bowls (see pics) is $17 before any tip and they barely fill the bowl half way full. There was maybe a 1/4 cup of cooked rice at the bottom, and it was steaming hot. No one wants hot rice with a poke bowl, and it wasn't even sushi rice. Just plain. I'd say this is acceptable if I was still getting the discount, but at full price there are better options in the area, you just need to leave the tech center. read more

I came here because of the 40% discount I get from work as ARE tenants and I was very happy with my food. I don't know if it would rush back without the 40% discount as it would be a bit pricey, but everything was delicious. I got the chocolate covered strawberry latte, hot chicken sandwich, and a side of tots. The tots were perfectly crispy and the sandwich was delicious, big, and seemed to be of high quality. The bun was noticeably good for example. Loved it! The latte was also yummy. The ambience is very nice there too. It's open and airy, modern and stylish in the dining area. Tried Park Commons on a warm February Friday, just after 12. The main hall was packed with people, but my lunch companion and I were able to place our order at the kiosk and easily find a table outdoors rather quickly. Once your order is ready, you will get a text to pick it up, which is easy enough. The food: I ordered the cheeseburger combo Cheeseburger - 3/5 stars The meat is pre-formed, not my favorite, and it had too much thousand island sauce. However, the vegetables were vibrant and fresh, and that crusty looking bun... anything but! It was so well-toasted it added to the overall flavor elevating what would be an average cheeseburger. Tots - 5/5 stars! One tiny little bag seems to hold a ton of tasty tots! They were cooked and salted to perfection, served fresh, so they were nice and hot. The combo comes with a fountain drink of your choice with free refills. Park Commons is a bit hard to find, but a nice addition to the business center. Some resident businesses are offered a 15% discount. If you are one of the lucky few and are eligible, place your order at the bar where they will key it in for you. The Park Commons dining hall opened up a month ago in the Sorrento Valley area. It's made up of five individual food stalls in a cafeteria like setting. You place your order at a touch screen tablet in front of each and then they will text your mobile number when the food is ready for pick-up. The offerings were the following... * All Spice - Mediterranean salads and wraps * Best Dressed - Salads and soups * Dr. J's - Sandwiches * El Parque - Tacos * Fricken Burgers - Burgers and chicken sandwiches The food I have tried from a few of the spots was reasonable in quality and doesn't take long to prepare. Pricing was high though as it's at least 20% more expensive than what you can get off-campus at eateries along Mira Mesa Blvd. Consider it as a convenience for the workers who are employed nearby and don't want to partake in their normal cafeteria routine. I did like the space and layout as there was not only an open air indoor dining room, but several tables set up outside so you can dine al fresco. Parking was plentiful with a large nearby lot for employees of the various companies. The hours of operation are from 11 am to 2 pm when everything is open and from 3 pm to 7 pm for happy hour in which the dining room is open and a server comes by the table to take your order from a limited menu. read more

Hooray for Park Commons! For the love of food of course, because they are making some scrumptious eats indeed. For breakfast, I not only had the Bacon and Eggs Breakfast Sandwich, but also a Dark Horse Misto or Cafe au Lait. The sandwich as only $5 and the misto $3 and some change. The bacon breakfast sandwich was absolutely delicious. The bacon was of super quality, and hats off to the individual who scrambled the eggs. They were light, fluffy, and well seasoned. I loved them, and together with the bacon, the gourmet glistening warm bun, peppery arugula, and aioli, the breakfast sandwich was a winner! It wont disappoint! The misto was just right. It was smooth, easy to drink, and the Dark Horse Roast offered that robust coffee flavor and subtle fruitiness towards the end. Park commons has a lot to offer. The cuisine ranges from New American Breakfast-Park Common's Kitchen, Middle Eastern-All Spice, Salads-Best Dressed, Dr. J's-Sandwiches, El Parque-Mexican Eats, and Fricken Burgers-Fried Chicken. Great experience at Park Commons this evening! It's a new addition to the Sorrento Valley dining scene, located nearby Karl Strauss. Drive past good ole Karl's and the Qualcomm building for spacious parking. Look for the modern building with the illuminated Park Commons sign (pictured). First off, the decor was very warm. The lighting wasn't too bright nor dim illuminated by a number of interesting fixtures. Even without looking, one can tell it's by the Whiskndale group as it feels familiar to nearby Gravity Heights. Service was very attentive. Immediately upon walking in, I was greeting and offered a glass of water. Thanks for that. To be candid, I didn't read much about this place prior to visiting. Heads up that the dining hall is open for lunch from 11am - 2pm, then the menu switches to full sit-down service in the evening. Pictured are the options - there's a great mix of sandwiches, wraps, tacos, and salads. I opted for the Cesar Salad and mushroom taco (per our server Carla's recommendation) while my dining companion chose a fish and chicken tacos. First off, the salad was a hit. Fresh greens combined with flavorful dressing is a great combo. However, what stood out, were the croutons. This may be a small detail, but they were oh-so delectably crunch and well seasoned. Yum. The tacos were also enjoyable. I'm a bit spoiled by enjoying tacos from Tijuana, however, the mushroom was extremely flavorful. The earthy, umami taste paired extremely well with the salsa and jalapeños. The fish taco was also very tasty. Overall, Park Commons is a great addition to the area. Date of visit: November 6, 2019 Park Commons in Sorrento Valley is having their soft opening period, and I was given the opportunity to check it out. After asking my bestie Kendra if she wanted to come along, we both made it out here for happy hour. As the food was being made and brought to us, we decided to stick to the appetizers, which were 1/2 price off the menu prices listed and reflected a taste of which vendor is offering. We went with the following: - Portabella Mushroom Taco ($3.99 - all prices listed are what they'd regularly cost): Even though Kendra had the poblano pepper taken off, and picked off the pickled jalapenos, the combination of the portabella mushroom, guacamole, onion, cliantro, radish, & lime was very delicious. (But $3.99 for one small taco?!?) - Shrimp Summer Rolls ($3.50): It's one summer roll cut in half - which is why I ordered two, given the half off HH pricing - but this was one of the best summer rolls I've ever had. Everything inside, from the shrimp, to the cucumber, to all the other veggies tasted freshly prepared. Even Kendra was impressed at how fresh the summer roll was. - Hummus Platter ($6): You can't go wrong with hummus, and Park Commons' version is no exception. The pita bread served with it was nicely warm and chewy, and this was the first time that I'd had tabbouleh salad with chopped nuts. - Loaded Tater Tots ($8): While this was more of a veggie dish, served with garlic and cilantro sauces, Israeli salad, feta cheese, and pickled red onions... although the taste was good, the tots could've been made a bit more crispy. Park Commons doesn't have their liquor license yet, so Kendra and I ordered their Mint Condition mocktail ($1). The mixture of Dark Horse cold brew coffee, mint, and oat milk was pleasing and refreshing, though it felt like it forever for our drinks to get served (though Kendra's second one came out more quickly). I like the clean vibe that was in the dining area, and Shaun our server was nice and professional as he refilled our water glasses. And, when I was checking out one of the sandwiches from their grab and go refrigerator, he gave it to me on the house! SCORE! (Especially as that became my lunch the following day after jury duty.) Kendra and I both like the Park Commons idea, and that this place will sell like gangbusters once it fully opens (especially during the lunch hour). My friend made reservations for us last Friday during happy hour, which is from 3-7pm. The food court was a little hard to find, so 2 of us got lost LOL. It's basically located to the right of Karl Strauss and there is plenty of parking in the back lot. We shared the loaded tater tots, poke chips, KFC chicken, and a salumi plate. The tots were cold, but we didn't dig into it until much later though LOL. The KFC chicken sandwich was huge, but lacked flavor. The fries it came with were thin, crispy, and yummy. The salumi plate was small and spicy! I really enjoyed the poke chips a lot. Good thing we got two of these- I could eat this all day! I liked how the chef incorporated some tangerines and used nori chips as the base. As for drinks, only mocktails were available so I chose the Match Picchu. This had matcha and lime, so it was refreshing and interesting. We also tried the Rose-Aid, mint condition, and bird of prey. Each drink had a decorative piece on top. Service was on point- in the end we were able to pay with our card with the machine instead of having to wait again to sign the bill. read more

OK place to go get a coffee or some lunch item when I am going in or out the Exos gym located in campus. Mostly guys from Qualcomm and Playstation having their lunches there. It is very modern and spacious and have a nice outside with several tables where you can also see the rest of campus that is pleasant to the eyes. Wi-Fi never works for me for some reason, so the attempts to work from there have always failed for me. I don't like they did not give me the ARE tenant discount (maybe because I am not another ARE campus?) and they told me something about downloading an app that made things more complicated, so I paid full price every time. The business districts north of La Jolla have really expanded and created such vibrant spaces for restaurants and food spots. They can be hole-in-the-walls but offer the best speciality of whatever they're about. Park commons is built beautifully, with its high ceilings, and colorful walls. All the food choices they offered were delicious and even though there were some technical difficulties at rush hour the ordering system they have was quick and efficient to get our group's order in. Our food came out not that long after too. It was clear everyone working in the area dined here together and there were plenty of tables for it. Stopped by here for a drink. There seemed to be only high school age kids working here who seemed a little inexperienced. The atmosphere is nice and there were not a lot of other customers, very quiet and seemed like a good place to study or work as well. The drinks are pretty good but watered down so ask for no iceberg in your drink. The hours are super strange, open 8 AM to 2:30 PM during the week and closed on the weekends! I was surprised to be kicked out at 2:30 PM due to an event with supposedly 400 people showing up? Not even sure how this is possible and this place could barely handle a few customers. Overall the hours are weird and very limited, the bartenders were young and inexperienced and the drinks are watered down. Plenty of better options out there. read more

Too overwhelmed with so many pictures and words on a small screen. 3. crowd control - ordering area was small. Friday had a huge crowd. Ordering lines were crashing into each other and people who were waiting for their food. 4. a person for order check - I ordered the burger sauce on the side but it wasn't in my to-go bag. The server pick up the fries from another to-go bag and put in mine, yuck!!! It was 1/2 bag full anyways. It was 1/2 price during soft opening. Checked out Park Commons due to its proximity to work. I tried their chicken wrap and was very pleased with it! It wasnt too bulky where I couldn't contain the wrap for a bite and wasn't too thin. A friend had their fries and they were thin and crispy. Friend enjoyed her burger! They have a condiments area where you can pump out ranch and ketchup. I haven't tried their cocktails yet but many seem to be enjoying it or beer during their lunch time which I'm envious of lol. Parking in the back was a little impacted due to several businesses in the area. We were able to find one in the front by Karl Strauss. My work loves this place!!! I do too lol. It's perfect for when you need a healthy good meal. They have options too, poke, Mediterranean vibes and burgers. Today I dropped by for lunch just because I was in the area, and it was the best decision I made. They had a Thursday special -- $15 for a bbq plate that had 16 hour smoked brisket and 18 hour smoked pulled pork, accompanied by super fluffy bread, a side of assorted pickles, creamy potato salad, and killer baked beans with pulled pork. My photo really didn't do it justice. The bark on the brisket was perfect, the fat melted in your mouth, and the meat was fall apart tender and juicy. The exact same can be said about their pulled pork as well. Oh my god, it was the best bbq plate I've had, hands down. It was a shame that I couldn't get any to-go because they closed up for the day by the time I got out of work. I really hope they add this to the regular menu!! read more

I visited Park Commons with a friend last night for happy hour. It's a cute spot and I can't wait to see what it'll be like once it's completed. I'm a huge fan of their sister restaurants, so I have no doubt that Park Commons will be a hotspot too. The concept is cool. There's a lunch food hall that has ordering stations and is only open from 11-2. There's also a big patio (that isn't open yet), a private room area that is open to anyone during the day but can be rented, and there is the main bar area that is open all day. The drinks are tasty. I had the Pear Necessities (pear spiced vodka mule, lemon, ginger beer; Happy hour price $9) and a Pele's Passion (thai chili iinfused tequila, passionfruit, lime, agave; $12). Both were very different and very tasty. I loved the Pele's Passion, but give extra kudos for the freeze dried pear slice in the Pear Necessities. Food wise, we only tried the loaded tater tots and they were tasty! I intend to return to try some of the lunch offerings. The waitress we had was very sweet and helpful and answered all of our questions well. I'm a fan and plan to try out more soon! read more

I was visiting a friend who worked roughly in the Sorrento area and she heard about this place at work and we decided to check it out. The space is very beautiful with huge windows and lots of natural light. We came in around happy hour time and were looking forward to some light snacks and drinks. We ordered the loaded tater tots and poke chips and I got "the elder" cocktail. The loaded tots were an absolute delight. They were perfectly crunchy and very well seasoned and generously proportioned considering their price. The poke chips consisted of two very large panko friend seaweed chips, topped with tuna poke, seaweed salad and crunchy flavors. It was an innovative idea and despite the small size, the seaweed chips and poke was an interesting plate and a delight to eat. The poke chips with the heavier loaded tots were the perfect combination for an after work snack. "The elder" is a gin drink with rosemary and grapefruit. It was very delicious, though a bit light on the gin for my tastes. Overall it was very refreshing. You can't really go wrong if you are a fan of grapefruit and herbs. I will definitely be coming back here to try their lunch foods. The service at this place was absolutely fantastic. We were waited on very attentively and the servers were very willing to give accurate reviews of the drinks menu. I cannot remember their names, but I really appreciate their service! read more

First the Great: The space is beautiful, modern, and cool. The food is very good from the poke to the Mediterranean to the Uh-mazing Chicken sandwiches. The people that work there are super friendly and helpful. Now the not so Great: the mixed drinks, especially their specialty drinks. They are fancy juice boxes. My companion and I each had 2 drinks and neither of us felt even the slightest effect. My drink was supposed to be bourbon based, hers vodka. My advice: Go. Eat. Get a beer. read more

I work in the area. My co-workers and I used to be regulars at the Towers at Sorrento food court for lunch.... Not anymore! This place is a huge upgrade! I love the idea/ design of Park Commons. The seating is airy and comfortable. It definitely has an inside/ outside san diego vibe to it. The food is great! They have a burger spot, a salad spot, a sandwich spot, a taco spot, and even a Mediterranean spot. They even have a coffee/alcohol bar. Once word gets out, this place will probably be packed.... I do love the design but I don't know if it will scale with the crowds. Until then I'll be loving it. I recommend either the korean style chicken sandwich or the turkey club. read more

Alright, I've been here way too many times now during the soft opening trying as many menu items as I could while they still have their test run pricing. Overall, as you can see by the rating, this place is great. There are 5 food stands inside the main hall, each with a kiosk to order (no person taking orders, although you can ask one of the line chefs to help maybe? but they're mostly busy making food). There's also a full service coffee/beer/wine/gelato bar in the front seating area. During the mornings until 10am, the coffee bar also offers a full breakfast menu which I haven't taken a picture of yet, but there are like 10 items on it, extremely reasonably priced. General Pros/Cons: Pros - Huge selection (although I believe the poke concept has been put on hold). 5 different restaurant concepts all with unique menus. They're trying to simulate a food hall with 5 different vendors and it sorta works given the space. - Food quality is pretty high. It's probably better than Karl Strauss in this same complex, but without the full service component. - Breakfast pricing is good. Yea, I'd buy that breakfast burrito any day at $6 :D Cons - It's pricier than one would expect. Not by much, maybe a dollar or two, but it was enough to give pause to a couple coworkers of mine. I've posted pics of all the prices, and as you can see, $4.50 for 1 barbacoa taco is a little on the high side (taco is the size of what most places all a street taco or mini taco). - It can feel cramped when it's busy. While I want it to be busy to keep the doors open, it will feel cramped inside. They're debuting an online order system to alleviate the wait, but the patio needs to come to open that space up more. If it's really busy, the lines will collide with each other, and the lines can very easily be held up if someone has trouble figuring out how to use the kiosk. Some of the food reviews. - Breakfast Burrito from breakfast bar - It was a chorizo egg scallion hash brown burrito and very very good. Maybe a tad on the salty side, but it was a hit imo. Definitely will order again. 5/5. - Egg White Wrap from breakfast bar - Wrap with spinach, cheese, pesto. This was light and healthy. Would probably order again. 4/5. - Turkey Sausage Sandwich from breakfast bar - They use a premade turkey sausage patty and top it with a well seasoned egg and greens. Honestly, also pretty good, esp for $5. 4/5. - Fried Hot Sandwich from Fricken Burgers - This was a pretty good chicken sando. A little pricy at $10, but I'd probably order it again. Better than chik-fil-a and popeyes, what more could you want? If you're curious how spicy it is, I would say not very spicy at all. Even Chik-Fil-A's was spicier. They have a nice hotsauce you can cover it in though (it's the runny vinegary type, but much more mild than tabasco). 4.5/5 - Beef Kofta Wrap from Allspice - The beef was wonderfully seasoned. Super flavorful and tender. The problem is the whole wrap concept. The pita or tortilla or whatever they use falls apart super easy and the wrap is filled with enough moist things and sauces that this tortilla cannot withstand the filling and falls apart after about 3 min. Have your fork ready. It's super tasty though. 4.5/5 Some reviews of sides: - Hummus at Allspice. They make this every morning I believe and it is really nice. Huge serving though... cheaper/smaller serving would probably be sufficient. They give you enough to share with like 4 people... (although not enough pita at all). 5/5 - Tabbouleh at Allspice. Honestly, I prefer a tabbouleh that is lighter on the bulgur salad and heavier on the greens, while the tabbouleh here is like super super super super super heavy on the bulgur, which I don't really enjoy at all. Someone who loves the bulgur grain would love it more. 3/5. - Side Salad at Fricken Burgers. Ehh.. for a $3 side salad I guess I don't know what I was expecting, but this tasted entirely too plain. Basically buy a supermarket mixed green salad in a bag and toss it with a little dressing but don't add any of the color items. I mean, can you at least toss in some cucumber, carrots, red onion, anything? It was just leaves and dressing. I met a co worker here for happy hour after work one day and I was really surprised that it is just a big room. From everything I saw online I expected there to be a variety of places open that you can choose from. The happy hour specials were decent enough and the mule was delicious. The seating was comfortable and the lighting fun -- good parking options. Would like to try this place during the day when everything is open! read more

This is a great place that just opened near Karl Strauss in Mira Mesa. It's about time something more current and trendy served this office area! They have a good food selection and a fun atmosphere. They are new and definitely working kinks out at their coffee bar, but the wine pours (it's on tap!) are generous. They are part of the Gravity Heights family, so it's a nice spot to go if you dig their drinks but don't want to deal with the crowds/traffic down Mira Mesa. read more

This upscale and hip food court is a welcome addition to this office area's meager and sad offerings. Too bad it's not more easily accessible to all those offices and requires a looping trek to get to. There are about a half dozen different food purveyors in the inner food area and then a bar and ice-cream section in the outer eating/seating area. I tried a fried-chicken burger from Fricken Burgers and it was pretty tasty though massively messy. And was also on the relatively pricey side. The ordering system is limited to credit cards and requires touch-screen selection, which seems a tad douche-y. It's surely a great option when you just don't want to interact with humans, but it's dehumanizing when you feel forcibly disconnected from the people about to make your food. The eating space has a good variety of seating options indoors and out (e.g., high tables, regular tables, bar). Disturbingly, the music playing in the indoor space is annoyingly loud. There's no reason to be subjected to Gaslamp oontz-oontz in the middle of the day in Sorrento Valley. It still gets four stars because it's soooo much better than the depressing dreck in the nearby office park food court. read more

Delicious coffee. Amazing food and the space is big enough to sit comfortably. Good to have a healthy "fast food" go to around our neighborhood. Plenty of free parking. read more

I have not tried this place for breakfast. But it is a cool place for lunch. Food gets prepared pretty fast so it is not a long Waite. There is plenty of sitting available. I have tried many items on the menu and everything is very tasty. read more

Just ate here for the first time and it was amazing! I had the kimchi sandwich. It was so flavorful and delicious. I love the whole set up and design. It was an efficient, clean, smooth and delicious experience. I am definitely coming back! read more
