The older female manager in the front is extremely rude. I don't even understand how she is even employed here when the rest of the staff is so friendly. In February my bridesmaids and I stopped by on the morning of my bachelorette getaway to have a nice breakfast together and we were treated with disrespect [like we were a bunch of teenagers] when in fact we were all grown women in our late 20's and 30's...mothers..pharmacists and doctors. Rude to us and even rude to our waitress and yelled at her in front of the entire restaurant just because she let one of us walk in with a dunkin donuts cup of coffee and the waitress poured it into a mug for her. We ordered mimosas to celebrate and she even came to the table and took one away from us because my sister is pregnant and she "couldn't drink it" -- who are you to decide??? And she wasn't even drinking it! We had ordered an extra for a bridesmaid on the way to meet us. I couldn't even believe how rude she was to us, just plain foul. Even the elderly couple at the table next to us were shocked. Horrible horrible service on behalf of management. We used to come here all the time back in the day after our church youth group on Friday nights... I have never been to a diner that charged extra for condiments. Orderd a Greek wrap and was given a tiny bit of tzatziki, when I requested more I was told that I would have to pay for it. I always end up at this diner because the food is usually good and it's close but I'd rather eat dog shit and have people actually wait on me than ever go back to this piece of shit. I just waited 10 minutes and not one person came over and asked if my father or I wanted a drink or to tell us they'd be right with us. My first time here I ordered a burger, which was decent. The second time, I decided to go for their specialty dinners. That was a mistake. I ordered the loin of pork, which was bountiful, but so overcooked it was difficult to get down. It was very dry and tough and even asking for some gravy on the side did not help. The broccoli was soggy and tasteless. I couldn't finished it and declined to pack the rest to go. Their turkey soup was watery and below average, but it did have lots of meat chunks. The salad was fresh and crispy and the coconut custard pie was okay. My third time was the last. I ordered a mushroom swiss burger (see pic). Stopped in here while in the area. Pretty nice looking diner and our waitress was very nice. I grabbed a chicken gyro while the wife had a tuna melt and our son had his cheese quesadillas. My gyro was ok, The chicken is grilled white meat chicken, not the typical slices you get on a gyro. Lettuce tom. and tatziki on a pita. Not great, but not bad. wife said her tuna melt was the best she ever had. Son said his quesadillas were very good. I would really say this is a 3 1/2 star rating. I went to the diner on a Saturday night. I don't like diners too much but I figured it was the only place open and in town. I ordered a panini and it was really good. My friend ordered some cheesy nachos that look like it would cause a heart attack, but he said he enjoyed them. A nice selection of desserts (alot of chocolate items). So I would go back but......... as others say the service wasn't great. Our server was ok though. But the host, well lets say this... we walked in and were standing there with enough time for me to ask myself, do we seat ourselves? There were alot of employees but didn't know who the host was. Then a server made eye contact with me who was talking with another man who was eating. The man who was eating then got up to welcome us and lead us to the table - not good. Then we wanted to check out the desserts and he was sitting down with his friends talking, then again when we were leaving. Not good at all. Quite a few tables had so much dirt and food underneath that it would be like thanksgiving for little animals. Funny the table was set but the floor dirty. There was a man who came and cleaned under them, thank goodness. I am going to assume the service was like this because it was midnight. So food was good, service needs improvement. I eat breakfast here all the time, love this place! I have never eaten dinner here before so I really can't review on that, but their breakfast and lunch surpasses any other diner in the area. Always strange to me when waiters don't write orders down...it is great when it comes out correctly but more times than not it is wrong... Very very heavy handed on the salt in the soup...that's why there is a salt shaker on the table...just sayin And the dressing came with a nice salad garnish....my suggestion would be to serve dressing on the side or get a 1 oz ladle. Started with a party of 4. Waitress looked a little nervous and spilled a cup of coffee on the table. Next the toast that came out was more like warm bread, and the butter was cold, so it didn't spread very well. Also gave green peppers instead of roasted red peppers in my omelette. I went in here with my two children for lunch and we are regular customers. The waitress was rude and nasty and we decided to leave even before we ate lunch. She gave my children the third degree about their ages because they wanted to get kids meals. She then told me that anything that the kids were ordering would've been extra. Anytime I asked her question I seem to of been bothering her. All I wanted to know what the soups were and she had no clue. The food was horrible. Ordered Eggs Florentine on Friday, worst diner food I think I have ever had. The served me extra small eggs, talking the size of a quarter, on mussy warmish spinach over a cold under done muffin, with a side of under cooked and under seasoned potatoes. I would not recommend this place. Here's why. Brought my family here for lunch after my child's pre-school birthday party. We had eaten here several times before with the most recent time for an impromptu Mother's Day celebration. As always we brought our child's grilled cheese from home. Our child has eating issues that requires visiting a feeding therapist twice a week for the last 2.5 years. But this time was different. As our waiter brought our drinks out he noticed my child eating grilled cheese that we had brought from home and told us point blank that is not allowed. Dumbfounded, we tried to explain to him that we've eaten here before and it's never been an issue here or any other local eatery as our child has eating issues. The waiter repeatedly interrupted us telling us he's heard it before, the kid has food allergies,etc. We tried to explain that its not food allergies, the child will gag and vomit except with certain foods. The waiter, formerly of the Red Oak, had no compassion and would not relent on allowing our child to eat the grilled cheese. Exasperated and infuriated we left. I was not about to let the anger rising up in me be vented as that would have made the situation worse. Now if you have a child with eating issues, or special needs, or anyone that needs to eat food from outside the diner (I guess that would include infants), I do not recommend this diner. If you do not have any of these issues, feel free to eat here. The diner itself is a typical diner with typical diner service and typical diner fare. read more

This place has become absolutely AWFUL. The last two times I dined there, there were flies in my food-- one was a burger, and the fly was in my lettuce, and the other was a BLT, and the fly was in the middle of my sandwich. Disgusting. Management was rude about it both times, as if I did something wrong (I'm not sure what the deal is with the owner-- he is always rude both to customers and to his wait staff). Having to put up with flies and rudeness isn't worth the mediocre food you get here. There are so many better diner options nearby! I recommend you visit one of them instead. read more

I stopped in for a quick lunch with my brother the other day not expecting much more than just an average diner, but was pleasantly surprised. The parking lot was packed so we figured a wait, until we got inside and saw how large it really is. There was no wait and we were immediately seated and handed our menu's (thick books). Like any good diner, the menu is all expansive. There are pages of everything you could expect, from breakfast to sandwiches to burgers and so on. I got one of the daily specials which was an oversized sandwich (which I couldn't finish) with my choice of soup or salad and then dessert. All for under $10. Out of the two diners I visited last time in NJ, this one was my least favorite. I came here just once on the same morning that we had arrived. I ordered a pretty simple dish, ham steak and eggs, but man did I choose unwisely. I mean really, I can only blame myself for ordering this dish. Especially since it's one I would hardly ever get! But for some reason that's what I wanted...and I was hungry so I ate it, but it just wasn't that good. First off, things started out badly when I drank the water and it was the toe tappingest tappy tap water ever. Maybe the water here is just more...flavorful? I got an ice tea though, which was fine. The ham that I got looked nice but the smoke flavor was extremely overpowering. Just bad, bad tasting ham. I ordered my eggs over-easy, they were cooked well but extremely greasy to boot. I had also opted for tomatoes instead of potatoes with my dish and they were some of the saddest, palest tomatoes ever. I mean, I thought Jersey tomatoes were supposed to be the *thing* like, the greatest tomatoes on earth! What happened Jersey? On the plus side our waitress was super friendly, the place seemed pretty clean and they did have the most amazing desserts I'd ever seen. Based on all those yummy looking cakes and pastries in their case, I would come back solely for dessert. Unfortunately I didn't order that for breakfast. Next time, I'd probably be better off getting a slice of cake and a glass of milk at 9am. read more

This is the local diner of choice along route 34. It is open longer than Aberdeen dinner and has been around much longer. There is a salad bar that comes with a lot of the more expensive entrees and a standard long menu with 24 hour breakfast. Some of the things I've gotten over the years include pancakes and sausage, gyros, double decker melts, french toast, fried shrimp basket, and chicken parm sandwiches. The dessert display is also quite tempting and good. This diner is also above average in terms of cleanliness, which is a pretty important considering how grimy diners can get. Also, it is not open 24 hours, but does extend its hours during the weekends in the summer. Definitely check this baby out. read more

My favorite NJ diner and I've been to many. The food is a little more homey than your typical diner food but it is still really good. I love their tropical salad and their roast turkey dinner.
