Don't come there for a car inspection! Take your car somewhere else - there are plenty of good options around the neighborhood with certified inspectors who would tell you the truth, unlike these guys. I came to the shop at the end of April needing an annual inspection on a 2013 Subaru, which I maintain very well. After 15 minutes of looking at the car, Mohammad took me to the little room (neither he or any other guys working at the shop were wearing a required face mask) and told me I needed $600 worth of repairs before I could pass. It was very surprising because I recently did some work on the car, so I decided to take it to another shop for a second look. He then asked me for $40 in cash (would not take a credit card) for a failed inspection and would not give me with a receipt, because his computer system was down "due to the virus situation". He told me to write my e-mail address, promising to e-mail a receipt to me, but that never happened (I even called to follow up on it and left a message with my phone number, but I never heard back). That same day I took my car to the shop a few blocks down, a certified NY inspection center. I passed the inspection there, all my car needed was new windshield wipers. I also learned that Park Slope Auto Center no longer has the required machine to perform the inspection. Dishonest, unprofessional place. Whoa!!! I think these 5 star reviews are written by Muhammad himself because the experience I had was far far far from wonderful. All I wanted was an estimate and when I expected to pick up my car, after the estimate seemed quite HIGH and included repairs that I wondered were necessary (which were confirmed after I took it to another place in Queens), I could not take my car away because bits and pieces were here and there and Muhammad would not allow the car to be put back together for more than three hours....even though NOTHING was happening in one of the bays. Finally, it took only 5 minutes to put the parts back in the car. NO, NO, NO this is not a place I would trust to work on my car. I think it's important to remember, Muhammad is not a mechanic, it seems. He's a salesman. So watch out for that charm. read more

A couple of days ago I had the privilege of breaking down on the same block as Park Slope Auto Repair. I walked into the business, told Mohammed that my car wasn't starting and they quickly sprung into action. Turns out that my battery was the culprit. After a thorough check, my car needed several extra repairs (ball joints, slow leak etc. There was no pressure to fix the repairs at the time and Mohammed even offered to print out a list of what was wrong for me to take to my regular mechanic in the event I decided not to repair with them. I decided to fix some of the repairs at the time, and it's made a major difference in the operation of my car. The staff were professional, fast and most of all reasonably priced. Mohammad is fantastic. Super friendly and polite, really responsive, and not at all condescending. I had taken my car into the dealer where i had purchased it for a free fix on an airbag recall. They promptly gave me a long list of things that needed to be done, which some really high prices along with it. I called Mohammad, he gave me some estimates on the phone that were about half of what the dealer was going to charge me. When I brought the car in, he determined that the major repair I supposedly needed was absolutely not necessary...saving me $1,200. Everything that did need to be done was so much less expensive than if I had done it at the dealer, and was done quickly. I went here right after my check engine light went on while I was on the highway, I recently had both my power steering belt and alternator belt replaced. One of those belts was shredded to bits because it wasn't installed correctly at the last place! Mohammad was very quick and efficient in identifying what the problem was, fixing it and even pointing out other minor things about my car that would later become bigger issues if not addressed. They aren't pushy at this place- they help you with your immediate needs and they also assess what future needs may be so that you are well informed and have the ability to fix things before they become costly headaches, all at extremely reasonable price points for both parts & labor. Mohammad actually showed me where the problems were in my car as he explained everything and even test drove my car after all was said and done to make sure things were running smoothly. What sets these guys apart from the rest is that they genuinely care about their customers and put safety above all else! First one is for these guys. Today, Mohammed and his team ABSOLUTELY wiped the floor with their competition. I have never been so blown away with how quickly and efficiently a repair shop ordered the correct parts, inspected the car, dealt fairly with multiple customers, and charged very reasonable prices. I paid over $3,000 of what my car was actually worth!!!!! Please ask to see if the car has been in a accident before purchasing the car!!! I bought my car about a year ago a 2016 Nissan which right away I noticed it had somewhat of a scratch as if the paint chipped in front I asked if they would be able to fix it because obviously if I'm buying a car I expect it to look new they said it was fine to come back in a week and they were going to take care of it they never fixed it because the coverage would not cover it so they lied saying they would fix it but never did!!! A month later my radiator shutter falls from the front which I decided I take back to them to check what happen with the car they keep my car for 2 or 3 days for Mohammad to call me and tell that he's going to charge me 800 for the job and I told him I was going to call him back. I call my other mechanic and ask him how much he'll charge me and he says 450. When I tell him I don't want to fix my car there he wants to charge me 150 because he spent time looking for the problem when this whole time it was obviously that, that was the problem I'm not sure why he needed to stay with my car for such a long time and charge me for something he probably didn't even do because the piece was already out he knew what the problem was I had no other choice but to pay him $150 for nothing. Later that day I go to my mechanic and he tells me the problem that's when I find out the car had been in a car accident he explained to me where the paint was chipped was from the accident that happen which was where the radiator shutter was. He told me that they had temporarily fixed the car just so they can sell it I had no other choice to pay the 450 I call Mohammed and ask him if the car has been in a accident and he tells me yes like 3 years ago but it couldn't be that because it was a animal car accident. How I caused that to happen because I probably hit a big bump. which I didn't because I take care of my car he tried to lie to me and tell me I was the one Who broke it because of how I drive but how can I break that from driving never in my life has a car piece came off because of driving the car!!!!!! He tells me there's nothing they can do about it because I already bought the car. I decided not to go back to them after this but recently my car had another problem my car wouldn't turn on at times and I thought it can be the alternator because I went to check my battery at auto zone and they told me my battery was good and my alternator wasn't giving voltage. So I go to Mohammed and he checks the car and he tells me it is the alternator that I need a new one I decided to go back because I still had coverage in the car which I thought I wouldn't have to pay one cent. I left me car there and a day after Mohammed calls me telling me that the company doesn't want to pay everything that they're only giving him some money not for the full work he claimed to pay over 500 for the alternator at a Nissan dealership which later I call Nissan and they tell me the most expensive alternator they have is 440 in every location. He tells me we're already changing the piece for you but you're going to have to pay $350. They gave me no option since they don't even ask you before they do something they just go ahead and supposedly do the job. I later call the coverage company and ask them if it's true if I have to pay so much for a coverage that is supposed to cover the alternator they tell me that everything was paid for but they didn't understand why they were charging me so much but when Mohammed called me he told me a complete lie that the company wasn't working out with me how he had to fight withthe company because they weren't covering the whole thing and it was my first problem and they didn't want to pay the full price and how I had to pay it but that's not what the company told me. The company simply said do not take your car back there because they can eventually charge you what ever price they told me they're scammers that they were charging me way too much money when the company had already paid them like 500 for the job which was what they were supposed to charge. It's been a month and my car is still the same they didn't fix it it still won't turn on at times but I will never go back because they'll just tell me it's something else so they can take my money!!!! Nothing like a dead starter at 4pm on a frigid rainy Saturday afternoon in the middle of Park Slope. After a quick yelp search I found PSA to be the only shop still open. Gave them a call and they said to come on in, which was a relief after getting answering machines everywhere else. Mohammed and his staff were responsive and highly professional to deal with. They worked with us on a fair price, and were able to turn the car around in just an hour or so. They even made sure my pregnant wife had a seat by a heater, and were truly a pleasure to chat with. Until we found PSA, our circumstances had seemed pretty dire - we would have had to be towed home, only to be towed to a mechanic on Monday, missing work to get the situation taken care of. Instead, in under an hour, we were on our way and can relax the rest of the weekend without an unresolved busted car situation hanging over our heads. I had my mother drop off my car for an oil change since she works right up the block, and we've been there a few times though i wasn't happy with the service. This particular time the car was dropped off with an entire tank of gas, filled up that morning. My mother brings the car home and i get in it the next morning and i feel rain falling on me, and i see a GPS that doesn't belong to me on the window. I turn on my car and i have half of tank of gas, when it was dropped off with an entire tank of gas. The owners son, a mechanic at the place took the car to new jersey to run errands, he used half of tank of gas, left my sun roof opening and left his GPS in the car. I do not recommend this place at all, stay FAR AWAY. They are lucky i don't plan on pressing grand theft autos against the company or reporting them to the BBB and the State of New York Consumer Protection Board. Avoid totally read more

I came here to get an oil change for my Honda. They assured me they used a "better" oil than other shops, but it would cost the same and could be done in 15 minutes. I thought it was odd that the manager asked me how much I had payed previously for oil changes, but I didn't think too much of it. They did finish in 25 minutes, but when I got the bill it cost $95! He didn't budge on the price even when I showed him a receipt for the same type of oil for much less from another shop. Check your warranty people. If you have allowed these people to service your car, call your warranty company today and verify charges for work done. These people are thieves. They submitted fraudulent claims on my warranty for work that they never did. They will treat you well while you are there, but when it is all said and done they'll make a couple of thousand dollars off of you and you won't know until you get a call from your local repair shop telling you that the repairs that you need done will not be covered by your warranty ( because Park Slope Auto was paid for the same work, ha! a month ago). read more

In our most recent experience, we brought our car to Park Slope Auto after our insurance company required us to have some repairs done at one of "their repair shops" -- and unfortunately these repairs were done incorrectly. I've gone to this place a few times. They are super nice and quick. First it was for an inspection and they were thorough and courteous so I figured I would go back when I needed more work. I am mechanically inclined so I'm always a bit skeptical of mechanics and such. The first couple of times they were great and I feel like they did good work and at a reasonable price. However, they always insist on cash payments and that has made me a little uneasy. This last time I went back to have something fixed that they had previously repaired and should've been under their warranty. They said they repaired it at no cost but they found another problem that was a "must fix." They said "unfortunately we have to get the part from the dealer and it's $325." I really had no other choice so I agreed and later called the dealer who informed me the part was only $145. I understand delivery fees and also understand a slight mark up, but that is unreasonable. Anyhow, the car did not feel the same as it did before and they also left a few grease stains on the floor mat. I would not recommend this place anymore. read more

They worked on my car before so I thought I could trust them, NOT. I was told that the part alone would be $600. When I took it someplace else the mechanic not only told my the price for the part ($85) but showed me the receipt from where he ordered it after a told him what the last guy said. BEWARE THE WORST AUTO SHOP EVER!! He didn't remove the inspection sticker which is the first thing any reputable inspection place does when u come in b/c ur not leaving with it pass or fail... Then proceeded to tell me i needed routers & brakes...I refused and as I was leaving he told me I have a leak... He better pray I dont have a leak in any hose in this car!! I just got my car back Monday from the dealer after major body work was done...If there was a leak they would've known,,, any time a woman walk in a dealer they better beware!! I lost one of my license plates and needed to get the other one removed in order to go to the DMV. I called Park Slope Auto Center and at first did not get an answer. A little while later, Mahamoud called me back and even though I'd missed the call, he called me again several times to be sure I received the help I needed. I was shocked that a busy mechanic would take the time out of his day to make sure a client he'd never even met before got the help they needed! He was the most patient and kind man. He gave me great advice over the phone, made time for me to come in right away to get help, and even gave me a space to park my vehicle for a couple hours (which was very much a miracle in busy Park Slope!) while I went to the DMV. I could not believe it! I also noticed how busy he was when I came in, dealing with several customers and phone calls simultaneously and with each customer he was patient and very kind. When I came back and wanted to pay him for his time and help, he refused! He was just happy to do a favor.. wow.. such incredible generosity. I am amazed.
