Best fish fry ever!!! I have had their fry several times and every single time the beer batter is crunchy and the fish is always so moist and flaky. No soggy fish frys here!!! Great space with interesting local decor, but the service and food were just average. We came for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. There were only a few other tables but our service was extremely slow. When our food finally came, my salad came a few minutes after my sandwich and our drinks were never replenished. I know that the food was not the fault of the waitress, but I would have still expected her to acknowledge the issue. She wasn't rude, but not particularly friendly either. I had the pork Milanese sandwich which was a little heavy on pork and light on everything else. My house salad was good size but consisted mostly of iceberg lettuce. I get french onion soup from every restaurant I can get it from and they have THE BEST french onion soup I've ever had (local and out of town). I had a fried fish sandwich with fries, the ladies had a salad in a fried bowl, good salad. But they asked if they could have 1/2 bacon & 1/2 chicken, they were charged full price for each add on!? Came to Parkside Meadow for a quick lunch with some coworkers. Cozy neighborhood bar interior with quirky nostalgic details- post cards of McKinley monument, Pan American Exposition brochures, old family photos. When we first came in the place had a few diners but after ordering the place filled up with the lunch rush. After waiting some time for food, I politely asked if the food was on its way or would take some time. The response? "Well as you can see its full and other diners are before you. (Not true) and *points at coworker* her dish takes time" I guess I didn't expect her to be so short or point at anyone. The interaction was uncomfortable at the very least. The food? Beef on weck dry, shaved lamb again tasteless. Oh and the chicken which held up our order? Not worth the wait. I'll probably end up coming back for a beer but will definitely sit at the bar. The owners are very nice people and I really like the atmosphere. I have eaten here a few times and there seem to be issues every time. Every time I have gone they have been out of various types of food. One time I ordered wings and they informed me upon arrival of them that they were giving me ranch instead of blue cheese because they were out. They wont accept more than one credit card at check out and some items seem a little pricey. I hope they can get it together soon as they have now been open for three months. In response to commenting on how odd it was that they were out of dressing for a salad, the bartender became combative and aggressive to the point that we decided to not stay. We decided try the place across the street where we had a very pleasant dining experience. The bartender proceeded to run out and yell at us as we entered the other establishment. This is my first time eating here. The atmosphere of the place is pleasing, full of Buffalo nostalgia. The booths and tables are comfortable, and the bar is beautiful. Also the lighting is just right. For lunch, we ordered poutine as an appetizer. Tasty gravy and cheese topping over French fries cooked just right. My friend ordered fried baloney, and he said it reminded him of his mom's. He was very satisfied. I ordered the chicken wings. When they came out, I was immediately disappointed. The sauce was not very good --tasted more like hot sauce from a bottle-and the wings were not particularly crisp. The waitress took them back to cook some more, but instead they made a whole new batch. It took quite a while, so I figured they would be nice and crispy. The medium wings that came out were better, a little crispier, but overall I was still disappointed. I wish I had ordered the lentil wrap or beef on weck instead. Both of those should be good. The service is solid. They tried their best to rectify the wings, but they never really checked back in to see how the second batch of wings were. I gave it 3 stars only because of the wings. Otherwise, I would give it 4. Next time I want wings, I will go to a place known for it. If you want beef on weck, this is certainly a place to go. read more

The building looks phenomenal, kudos to the owner for putting all the work into the renovations. Our server meant well but she missed a lot. Starting with our appetizer, completely forgotten, luckily it was not on the bill at the very end. One of guests asked for something special to be added to his sandwich, it came out plated separately after all our meals were served. The two specials that were ordered were served to the wrong people. The other order had a lot of cheese and not much meat. Once the bill was paid, we didn't see our server again. Was recommended by a friend, will definitely go back!! I was recommended parkside meadow from a friend who had lived in the parkside area for many years. After seeing a promo on step out Buffalos instagram account, I figured I would give it a try. Boy was I impressed!! Sunday mornings they have bottomless mimosas which may have been the best I've ever had; the perfect ratio of champagne and orange juice. All of my party had delicious meals including omelets and crepes. Filling portions at reasonable prices. The staff was quick and attentive. The environment was very comfortable, the restaurant is very unique in that it has lots of Memorabilia from buffalo dating back to the 1800s. I live in the neighborhood and dropped in recently for a burger. The food was mediocre. While the burger was cooked appropriately, it was surprising to find that the "fried onions" on the Len Burger were two onion rings, and the French fries had a slightly fishy taste (it was also a fish fry night). Equally bothersome was the fact that the restaurant was clearly understaffed. On a Thursday night they had one waitress working the main dining room. There wasn't anyone else to bus tables, deliver food, or refill drinks. This meant that one waitress was left scrambling to cover all the needs of the customers in a reasonably busy dining room. Between the mediocre food and the lousy working conditions for the staff, I'm not inclined to return to Parkside Meadow any time soon. UPDATE: In response to Len's comment below, I'm a little surprised at the defensiveness and the assumptions he's making. I did speak with the staff about the situation. After I became frustrated at the long wait for my check, when the waitress finally stopped by my table I asked her about the staffing situation. I wanted to be sure that I didn't hold the waitress responsible and tip her inadequately based on a situation that was outside her control. Based on her response, it seemed that this was the norm, rather than an exceptional situation. I honestly have no idea how I could tell a restaurant owner that his staffing needs to be adjusted, or why any business person would have the expectation that a customer would do this. read more

One star is for closeness and decor. We had four meals and not one was good. What restaurant does not have a hamburger and fries on the menu. The fish fry was full of grease and so much breading I could not find the fish. The Cesar salad was wilted and non appetizing. I wish I could give them more stars! I am living in the neighborhood and I am glad that there is finally a place to eat on Parkside. That being said I probably won't return there for dinner but just for drinks. Service was friendly but very spotty towards the end. Place was full and they were overwhelmed. Food was mediocre at best. Leg of lamb sandwich sounded terrific on the menu but it was microwaved slices of lamb on toast.
