We dined at Parkside on a Saturday evening. Service was great and food was delicious. The special featured buttermilk fried chicken and three sides. I chose mac and cheese - (so creamy and cheesy) mashed potatoes and green beans that were out of this world! Garlic, salt and perfect amount of butter were on the beans Matt was an excellent waiter and took good care of our party of three. Great corner location in the warehouse district. Really friendly service with a large beer selection and a varied menu with something for everyone. The giant pretzels are baked fresh and so hot you have to let them cool down before you even chow down. These are excellent and big enough to earn the name giant. The short rib stroganoff was excellent as well and was a very large portion. This is a no pretense, neighborhood type place and I'd be a regular if I lived in the area. read more

Went to brunch today. We started with a spicy bloody mary and dirty martinis. They were good, but the bloody mary could use a little jazzing up with some additional garnish. Service was attentive and our waitress was cheerful even in her mask. Appetizers were deviled eggs and crab cakes. Crab cakes were very good, deviled eggs were typical. We had the bananas foster french toast, the fried chicken biscuit bowel, and the shrimp and grits for our meals. The bananas foster was very good but the best was by far the chicken fried biscuit bowel. Fried chicken was cooked perfect, biscuits were fluffy and the the gravy took it over the top. We all thought the shrimp and grits was ok, but thought there was a lot of grease due to the chorizo (probably) but just too much. Overall... great place for brunch and we will be back. read more

5 stars for food, way less than that for service, however I can't dock the stars that much because the food really shined. Come hungry because the portions are insane!!! I really wish we would've seen the size before we ordered two sandwiches, way too much for us. The prime rib sandwich was so flavorful and was so tender it melted in your mouth! It looked like it was an entire cow on the sandwich, hence the doggie bag (we had to get from the bartender)! The side salad fell a bit flat, the avocado dressing (asked for it on the side, but it didn't come that way) didn't have much flavor. My counterpart's blue cheese dressing was good, he asked for more, (didn't get that). His french dip was equally as large and he loved it. The place looked super trendy (still a small restaurant diner feel) and they do have outdoor seating when the weather is nice! Their tap selections are great. Parkside is a solid option! I've been for brunch, lunch, and dinner and have enjoyed them all. I will say it's nothing super unique or special but if you're craving some "basic" and good American food. This is a good spot. My friends and I recently went to brunch on Sunday around 11:30am. The wait was about 15-20 minutes. This is probably my favorite meal that I've had here! 5/5 Prime Rib Scramble Bowl - So good! The prime rib was very tender and the portion size was really reasonable for the price. I had enough leftovers for breakfast the next day as well. 4/5 Parkside Burger - This is a good burger. As mentioned earlier, it's nothing super special but it is good! 4/5 Ambiance - It does get a bit loud here but I like all the windows and location. 5/5 Service - The service has always been great! read more

We love Parkside and have been coming here for years. This past year they have gone above and beyond for the surrounding area during the recent Covid. They adhere to the guidelines immensely and have been a pivotal beacon for the community. They have stayed open even during the height of all the chaos with carryout and delivery. The owners are friendly and will always meet you with a smile. From the manager down to the employee's, everyone is very friendly and helpful. Hubby and I try frequent this place once a week, for sit in or carry out. We all need to help keep our small restaurant owners going. Highly recommend brunch!! We went Sunday afternoon and I wanted a mimosa. Since it's typically a better deal, I asked about a flight and was told that they had a 3-flight. This would have been a good time to tell me that I'd be ordering an entire bottle of champagne!!! But noooo! Then she brings out a single champagne glass and 3 tiny portions of juice, not even mixed and in the flight holder, just a bunch of random loose glasses all over the table. Get some flight boards Neanderthals!!! When I couldn't finish a whole bottle by myself (which she knew in advance was just me drinking mimosas) I asked for a single to-go cup and had planned to mix the remaining juices together...she brings out sauce cups so again, I request a to-go cup, just one, and then she brought out a to-go containerso I just use it only to have juice spill out into my bag and my leftover breakfast I had planned to finish. Then she just hovered around and I'm like "Lady, don't you have somewhere else to go, gimme some room." Grits were tepid, at best and I had to reorder, which I hate. They were somewhat better 2nd time around and I expressed that they should come like that the FIRST time instead of making customers have to re-order. She made sure to whisk the cold ones away like a flash as if to say "you won't be saving these for your microwave. That wasn't a problem at all because I've had better. The audacity to start tipping off at 22% though. I, of course, customized it to a standard 15%, which was adequate considering the service received. Meh. I was in the area for errands and looked on Yelp for nearby spots great for brunch and Parkside was at the top of the list. We strolled in around 1:30pm and were seated immediately, which was nice. However, they had to bus our table really quick before we were seated and although they wiped down the table, the booths were very dirty (crumbs, etc.) Service was prompt and I had no issues there. My husband got the chicken and waffle sandwich and it was top notch; I especially loved the harissa maple syrup which was sweet and spicy! The tater hash he had on the side was delicious as well--lots of yummy veggies mixed in with the potatoes. I, on the other hand, ordered the chicken and biscuit bowl and it was not very good. The cheddar grits were so overly cheesy and salty, neither of us could finish it. The chicken was also overly seasoned and quite dry (and the biscuit didn't help counter that dryness either) so I ended up pouring the harissa maple syrup onto my chicken bowl too. Bacon all atop the dish just added to the salt bomb, like icing on the cake (in a bad way!). I really hope Parkside adjusts this dish because the seasoning levels are way off and it quite frankly ruined the dish. I also wish there was something light/fresh mixed into the bowl--some sort of veggie? It was just grits, cheese, bacon, biscuits. VERY carb-heavy! Overall, we liked the type of food here at Parkside, but just think some minor fine-tuning is needed. read more

I visited Parkside a week ago during Downtown Raleigh Restaurant Week with my family and boyyyyy did we score a deal. We decided to take advantage of the 3 course dinner for $30. I ordered the bacon wrapped dates, prime rib, and banana pudding. Everything was so perfect! My favorite was the banana pudding, of course, because it's a dessert. It was such a great idea to offer an appetizer, entree, and dessert for $30, especially when prime rib is an option. I actually plan on going back to Parkside in the near future due to the successful visit during DTR week. I'm a big fan of the location, service, and flavors they offer. read more

My favorite dining experiences are at neighborhood spots like Parkside, where you can come in casual or "be fancy" if you'd like and either way you'll be comfortable and eat a great meal. Sunday Brunch started my love of this place with offerings such as jalapeno and bacon deviled eggs and a well garnished bloody Mary while I wait for my Braised Boneless Short Rib Benedict or Chopped Salad, filled with enough good stuff to make me feel like I was healthy that morning. During a recent dinner experience, our server Amanda let us know that there was a new special dessert option of three whiskey samples paired with local Videri chocolate "if" we were interested. Oh Amanda, Amanda, Amanda, its like you're talking me out of dinner. Almost, but not quite. After splitting peach habanero wings and a chopped salad (same delicious one as offered at brunch) my husband and I did order the whiskey and chocolate pairing and it was everything good and wonderful. Amanda explained it was something they were just trying, so note that it should stay, or at least be a frequent offering so that it keeps it's "special" status. Parking can be a little tough, but manageable (paid parking around surrounding streets). Variety of seating options at the bar, high tops or booths, we've always had good service wherever we sit. Clean dining room, open, bright, nice view of Nash Square. Minus one star due to restroom cleanliness as in lack thereof. I hate saying that since it's otherwise great. read more

Finally Parkside is open! I loved Joe's growing up so I was eager to try this place out since it has changed yet again. Drinks: I love the fact that they offer half pours of most of their draft beers here, a fantastic option for those that do not want to overindulge. For appetizers: Goat Cheese Spanish Gratin- not my favorite flavor combination for the cheese and spinach (perhaps a different cheese could improve this dish) but I loved the grilled baguette for dipping (wish it was a bit more grilled though) Bacon Wrapped Dates - delicious unfortunately some of the bacon wrapped around was not fully cooked. But, I would recommend this appetizer as this dish had a great flavor. For entrees: Joe's Meat & Three (loved the tribute to Joe's!) - Mom chose the Salmon with Black Eyed Peas, Cheese Grits and Potato Salad, unfortunately the salmon was undercooked but this issue was resolved in a timely and professional manner Chicken & Waffle Sandwich with Mac and Cheese - I really enjoy Chicken & Waffles but this entree as a dish was a tad messy to eat. I ended up pouring the syrup over the dish and eating it with a fork and knife. I thought that it tasted good. As far as the mac and cheese goes, it had no flavor which was disappointing as it was highly recommended by our server. One note: I wish the presentation of the dishes were a tad better. All they had to do was wipe a corner or two and it would have looked amazing. Service was wonderful. It was opening night so I am interested to see how Parkside does in the future. How many ways can I express my love for Parkside? Well, to start off, they were serving brunch on the Friday that I went! Brunch is my absolute favorite so I was super excited. I will say the parking situation is typical for downtown with only parallel parking spots available nearby. The restaurant was fairly quiet with just a few tables with folks scattered around the bar. I wasn't even planning on getting chicken and waffles but I saw a photo of of the Chicken and Waffles sandwich (fried chicken, rosemary-onion waffle, arugula, harissa maple syrup, choice of side) and I was instantly sold. I had no issues with the service--actually our server was almost overly attentive, stopping by every couple of minutes to inquire and check on us. The sandwich was absolutely delicious. The harissa maple syrup added the perfect kick to the waffle and the arugula flavor wasn't overwhelming which I was super happy about! The chicken was not dry and had a solid crunch when I took a bite. Overall, we had a great experience at Parkside, and I cannot wait to be back to try the other brunch, lunch and dinner options. read more

The flavor lacked and the horseradish hollandaise is being too fancy, just use regular hollandaise and it'll taste better. He misunderstood coffee for vodka ( for a heavily pregnant woman that is just hilarious ) , he never brought an oj my husband ordered until he reminded him. We ordered 2 sides of Parkside salad with 2 dressings and he brought just 1 regular salad with 2 dressings. If he was new or in training why no one assisted him!? The food was fine. I've been to Parkside twice now and one experience was great while the other was pretty bad, so I'm settling at 3 stars. We went for brunch on Saturday. I had the meat +3 and chose pulled pork, brussels sprouts, collards, and a salad as my sides. Literally every item had issues! - Pulled pork was extremely dry and the sauce it was served with wasn't BBQ or vinegary which was odd - Collards had a strange flavor, but I couldn't pinpoint what is what exactly...almost metallic like they were canned? - Brussels actually didn't come out with my meal - I got them 10 mins later and they were super greasy - The salad (lettuce and two cherry tomatoes) was highly overdressed with oil Hubs had the chicken n waffle sandwich. While the chicken was tender and flavored well, the rosemary waffle was extremely bland and dry. We told the server about the pork being dry and half expected her to offer to replace it or something, but she just said, "Sorry about that!" and went about her way. I won't be returning, sadly. My meal wasn't too expensive ($14), but none of it was edible and there were no offers to make it better. Parkside is a solid restaurant option in downtown Raleigh. Great atmosphere and service. The dishes we tried were: *Caesar salad *Meatloaf *Mediterranean dish with chicken and avocado added The Caesar salad was delicious. Perfectly prepared and seasoned, I opted to leave the anchovies off, but the egg, parmesan cheese, the Caesar dressing- were all so good together. The meatloaf was incredible. It was melt in your mouth delicious and had a lot of flavor. The mashed potatoes were also super smooth and delicious, the perfect compliment. The green beans were pretty basic, nothing special but a nice way to round out the plate. The Mediterranean dish is... light. Think "I'm on a diet and trying to be good about my food choices when I'm out to eat" light. The dish is $11, to add chicken it was $4 and to add avocado it was an additional $2, and I think we can all agree those additions can only make a dish better. That said, the portions were minimal (see photo). We were told everything was pre-portioned by the kitchen and is always the same, so think twice before adding those two options. Definitely not worth the $6. That said, it was delicious and a good option if you're trying to be healthy. read more

Went to Parkside for brunch on a Sunday morning. Showed up right when they opened at 10am and there were a few other people in the restaurant. It got more filled as our meal went on, but never too loud or packed. Service was good, nothing above or below average service. However the food was delicious! Definitely get the chicken and waffles sandwich. The waffles were rosemary which was delicious. I felt like it was a great bang for your buck. 12 dollars for a big sandwich that came with a side. There was nothing exceptional about the food. Our server was polite and attentive enough to earn a tip, which seems to be less and less a guarantee as we are less and less inclined to venture out to eat. Neither the table, floors, nor menu were sticky; the bathroom didn't eject us hugging ourselves forlornly aching to shower. Good enough. Parkside is the best! I don't think I've tried anything on their menu that I didn't like. I normally come here during lunch time with my co workers and it's almost always packed. There is outdoor, indoor seating, and a bar area that is pretty long. I enjoy the food here very much. The salads here are creative and they are served without meat, so you just have to order the protein you want tossed in. This is also a great place for vegetarians and vegans because those menu options are available. If you love burgers, then this is one of the best places to be at. They're nice and juicy, and the flavor combinations are incredible. Additionally they always feature an item of the day that is not on the menu. I try to go for it when I can since I know it's going be great. I also suggest going for the bacon wrapped dates as an appetizer, those are great and I could probably eat an entire plate of them. The beer on tap is great, gets rotated monthly but they do keep some beers on there regularly. The staff is nice and the food comes out in a timely manner. I ate here on my first night in New Orleans! Someone recommended it to the person I was meeting for dinner. I ordered the Shrimp Poor Boy, and my friend and I shared an order of fries and bread pudding. (I don't remember which sandwich we got.) We enjoyed our food, and the unique location--it was nice to eat at a non-chain place. We got there pretty early, and were able to get good seats. It got more crowded and louder as the evening progressed. It's a fun atmosphere, though. I'd recommend it! read more

Laid back, yummy and simple bar and restaurant in the heart of downtown Raleigh. My friends and I were looking for a quick bite on a random Wednesday night and stumbled upon this place. The restaurant is really simple and no frills, clean and nice open space. Plenty of seating at bar or at tables. I wanted something healthy for dinner so I ended up getting the Meat and side special- Salmon, broccoli and salad. The salmon was delicious, pan fried to perfection! My friends got the burgers and tots and all loved them. Our waitress was nice and checked in on us throughout the night, and it was a great time!
