Both Genova Delis in Walnut Creek closed so the number of good Delis is shrinking. It had been a while since I went to Parma Deli and had one of their sandwiches. Parma is on the edge of Concord almost in Clayton but worth the drive. I ordered a Poorboy sandwich on a sweet roll. After Maggoria closed down it has been hard to get a good sandwich roll. The rolls at Parma are excellent, soft, fresh, not filling, sandwich had fresh produce and lots of meat cuts blending into a great Poorboy sandwich. If you were a Genova fan, you will love the sandwiches at Parma. Drive a little further and treat your self to a generous sized tasty sandwich or pasta.

Parma Deli is absolutely one of the best deli spots around. Everything is fresh made, from the food to the salads, and the quality really stands out. Their hot Reuben sandwich is hands down the best I've ever had. If you're traveling through Concord, you have to stop by and try the Reuben -- it's worth the trip.

We were in the area and had read about this being a great deli. Tried to call in our order but they were backed up over an hour on phone orders. We walked in and received a friendly greeting. The shop is small but has sandwiches, a steam table of prepared food, and Italian market staples. We ordered our Italian mix and a BLT. Short time later, a gent brought our food to our table. The Italian mix was packed with meat and fresh veggies. Wife liked that the bread was chewy vs hard. My BLT was full of crispy and chewy bacon. Both sandwiches were really good. Service was friendly- can't ask for much more!

I've been wanting to try that this deli for quite a while, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. This is the kind of spot that feels like it's been doing things right for decades -- handwritten menus, shelves of Italian pantry staples, and the smell of great food the moment you walk in (I swear I could smell the tri tip even after I left!) The sandwiches are huge and stacked generously. I went with the peppered turkey on a soft roll, loaded with garlic mayo, (I requested as much pesto as legally possible), avocado and all the veg. One sandwich could easily be two meals. They've got a solid lineup of hot items, cold salads, and sides, chips and a plethora of cold sodas to choose from. I also love that they rotate specials like mushroom chicken and ribs every other Friday, and the tri-tip sandwiches are definitely on my list for next time. On top of that, they carry Italian goods like cookies, pasta, sauces, and olive oils, which just adds to the charm! If you're looking for an authentic, Italian deli with massive sandwiches and serious flavor, this place is THE SPOT! I'll definitely be back -- probably sooner than I should.

In my search for the holy grail of sandos, I found this little jewel tucked in a small strip mall. Must driven by 1/2 dozen times. So I ordered a classic: pastrami on sourdough. So much meat! I could only eat half. So I got 2 meals for $14. Service was great- constant foot traffic. Will return

It's an odd thing when the service makes a place frustrating. I came in with my family to order a few subs, my wife is feeling the need to satisfy a craving so we decided to hop on into Parma delicatessen. I knew immediately I wanted the meatball sub. This is an item that I traditionally ordered it a lot of different places. This is where it got a bit weird. I wanted to order it with spicy mayo, pickles, and hot peppers. I went up to the counter, placed my order with the guy before asking for the additional items on top of the sandwich, I clarified to make sure it was possible to order them, which he confirmed. He repeated it back to me two times asking me if I was sure which again I confirmed with him on what I wanted. Well that alone was annoying. I wasn't too bothered by the inconvenience. Perhaps he was just being extra cautious. As the rest of the family ordered, and I stood around and waited, I can hear him consistently making chatter about it as if it was a big deal. I don't get it. It's my preference for a sandwich. It's the way I want it. Why does it have to continually be a weird topic of conversation among all the employees? Here's where it becomes tricky because the sandwich was incredible! I would easily order it again. It's just annoying that that gets critiqued, but my preferences are my preferences and I like them. The meatball and sauce were absolutely cooked to perfection. Loved every part of it! The sauce was excellent pickles and peppers were delightful as always. Sandwich 8.5/10

Found my go to deli near home! Small mom and pop shop with an extensive menu and many bread and side options to cater to your cravings. It was my first time coming in and the worker who helped me was nothing but patient and kind. A perfect stop for a picnic since there are many parks nearby! Seating is limited so I would suggest taking your sub to go Forgot to mention: portion sizes are HUGE

I have been here several times and each time, the sandwhich is just as good as the previous. There is seating but it is not much. Best is to take it home to eat! The food here is not only just HUGE but also very delicious. If you are nitpicky with workers using gloves then this ain't the place for you. They do wash their hands after each transaction and etc. Unfortunately my sibling saw one instance while waiting to pay that a worker touched/scratched the inside of his ear before touching a sandwhich he was making. It wasn't ours but it was something they told me afterwards.... Anyways, service is quick and easy. Most of my visits were very chill and laid back. Workers are cool and always nice to me. Probably cause I'm round, short and can barely see over the counter lol. This place can get hectic and really busy at peak times. The wait for the sandwhich isn't long though. You go in, wait for your turn, place your order, wait a bit, pay and off you go to enjoy the monster sandwhich. The sandwhich can be shared or eaten as a whole in 1 meal or split into 2. It just depends how hungry you are or looking for a post-workout meal. The first time I came here, I got the Garlic Herb Turkey (GHT) with Swiss on Sourdough Roll with all the works ($15). I also got the Italian Mix on Dutch Crunch with all the works ($17) for my brother. The GHT +Swiss on Sourdough Roll is a 10/10. The first time I saw this thing I was like "oh sh**! That's a big *** sandwhich!" There was literally a mountain pile of GHT!! It was cool to see that they are not shy in giving a lot for the customers and I really appreciate that! It wasn't dry at all too like other sandwhich places and had the right amount of fixings in each bite. The Italian Mix (consists of Salami, Mortadella, Prosciutto with provolone) is a 10/10 and it was so good that it KO'd my sibling out for the day! Normally he doesn't like sandwhiches but this one was 100% approved. I also have tried other combinations with Garlic Herb Turkey (GHT) and another meat as a combo or just GHT with different type of cheese, Pesto and all the works. They don't skimp on the veggies either. GHT + Provalone on Sourdough ($15) is 9.5/10 GHT + Mortadella + Swiss on Sourdough ($15.50) is a 9.5/10. GHT + Garlic Cheddar + Pesto on Sourdough ($16) is a 10/10. Pepper Turkey + Garlic Cheddar (they put regular Cheddar instead) + Pesto. ($16) is a 7/10. GHT + Pastrami + Swiss on Dutch Crunch ($14) is a 9/10 - Also another banger that KO'd someone for the day lol. I have not yet tried their Smoked Meat and Cheese selection or other possible combinations they have up on the board so we shall see.

Parma is the real deal Got the roast beef with all the fixins & some extra sauce I knew it was going to be great when it came with a stack of 50 napkins on the side

Another great lunch at Parma Deli today. I had the crab salad on soft sweet roll. Son had a liverwurst sandwich and we purchased another box of Italian butter cookies for later. Everyone was so pleasant and helpful as always.

ive been coming here for years family owned very friendly staff they know their customers by name when i walk in they know exactly what im ordering usually a meatball sandwich with a side salad..everything on the menu is delicious on fridays the crab salad sandwich is piping hot and delicious they also have bbq tri tip sandwiches i think on fridays you wont be disappointed everything is freah evem have lasagna, chicken parmesan all types of salad three bean, cucumber salad and a variety selected soda as well as italian cookies,noodles sauces lots to choose from read more

Hands down my favorite local deli. The cuts are great, the sides are delicious, the snacks and drinks are top notch and authentic, and most importantly it has the mom and pop feel. Almost everyone that comes in gets greeted by name and treated like family. Can't imagine concord without Parma. Go here and you won't be disappointed! read more

I am always looking for a great place to pick up lunch for my office and unfortunately I rarely find a place. Not today ! The sandwiches were outstanding. We had the Meatball Panni and the Chicken Caprese. They were both really good. Its by far my favorite sandwich / deli spot in Concord. read more

Found this place via Yelp as we were heading to the Concord airport and wanted to find some sandwiches we could bring for a picnic. Walking into the Parma Deli smelled like heaven...when I inquired, they said it was a big batch of red sauce cooking in the back. They were very quick to prepare the sandwiches, and there was a line of people all wearing masks to pickup their orders as well as walk-ins like myself. The sandwiches were plentiful and delicious. Thankful that they also offered 1/2 sandwiches. Will definitely go back when we're in the area again. Thanks for the tasty lunch. read more

Brief Summary - Family Owned Italian Deli - Fresh ingredients and food - Parma gives you that small town feeling - BEST Deli in Concord I've moved around job wise in the last year and had to switch my dry cleaning to Parma's next door neighbor, TLC Cleaners. And it's because of TLC that I tried Parma randomly within the last 6 months. When I used to work down the street in downtown Concord, I would drive the 10 minutes (with lights) down Clayton Rd and pass all the other deli's/sandwhich places just for Parma. I love that Mary knows almost everyone that walks in. And everytime I come in, whether alone or with my gf, she remembers me. OK enough about why I love this place and more about why I love the food. The prices are a few bucks more than safeway or subway, but you're paying for quality ingredients that make the meal so much better. I almost always get a peppered turkey with cheddar on a sourdough roll. Even though the chewing can get tiring, there's nothing like an Italian sourdough roll. And it's super FRESH! It's more than enough food and you're going to be satisfied. I also love their soft rolls. Usually my gf gets the tuna on a soft roll. And you can get half a sandwhich so you don't waste it. I have yet to eat any of the hot entree's. I just tried the potato salad this past weekend and it was pretty tasty. I'm all for supporting small businesses and places like Parma. As long as they're serving, I will be giving them my business over any other place. I just wish I worked down the street so I could come here more often. Luckily I live down the street :) read more

My son and I have been going to Parma deli for many years. Yes we go for their delicious food...the pasta and sandwiches are the best. But what I love most about Parma deli is the customer service. This deli is family owned. They know who I am when I walk in. They know my son and I always feel when I go there that I'm so welcomed. The mom is a wonderful person. And I love her new haircut. Out of town visitor looking for a deli while driving on Clayton Road.Sometime you just get lucky!! Attending a funeral service and didn't want the hunger affect .Stopped at Parma Delicatessen with time to spare, changed my mind on what to order every time I read the next menu item.I have high expectations and if there's a better Ruben sandwich please let me be lucky again. I wish I could give this deli more stars! This deli is like stepping back in time to the 1980's when businesses cared about your customer experience! The staff is so friendly and hardworking. The quality of meats, cheeses, bread is EXCELLENT!!! The deli items for purchase are too shelf. The sandwiches are huge submarine sandwiches with East coast quality and made with care. This is by far the BEST deli in the entire East Bay and worth a drive to try a sandwich! The pastrami is lean and perfectly sliced....the turkey is fresh and not full of fillers. Their prices are INCREDIBLE!!! I'm afraid to Yelp review because if people KNOW it's this great they will no longer be our "secret deli spot". Wow... this place amazes me everytime. It's delicious gourmet sandwiches. My son order a pastrami sandwich with soft sourdough bread and he said it was the best sandwich he has ate. I love love the lasagna and they have a great variety of sandwiches hot and cold. Plus it a little shop were you can buy your past and stuff and cook at home a delicious dinner for you family. We were finally back in the area after coming by about a month ago to find out they were closed for vacation (that was a sad day). Hooray! They were open! We ordered four sandwiches to go - ham on wheat roll, salame on sourdough, Italian mix on Dutch crunch and a Reuben. Ah-may-zing. Totally lived up to my expectations! What a huge and hearty sandwich! Wow! So glad that my coworker recommended the Parma Deli. I ordered the turkey sandwich with everything on Dutch crunch bread. It is truly two meals. Packed full of freshly cut turkey breast meat and loaded with veggies. It is a bit on the small size and it does get busy but I wouldn't say any of that is necessarily negative. Feels like a family style deli tucked away in the corner of the shopping center. I will be going back! read more

Best. Deli. Ever. The long lines at lunch indicate just how good this family run deli really is. They are very friendly and helpful with the menu, even with a hungry crew of confused mid-westerners. Many of the breads and all of the salads are homemade. The meats, cheeses, and toppings are all cut and served fresh when you order. We were only there a week and went there twice. I really wanted to try everything on the menu. EXCELLENT! read more

Chose this from Yelp as I was passing through town. I really enjoyed the sandwich. The only thing that brought the rating down was a little too much mayo and the shredded lettuce. I know leaf lettuce is more expensive and takes a few seconds longer to prepare but it's so much better! read more

We have owned Parma Deli since 1988. We know most of our customers by first name. We come highly recommended by most of our clients who have been coming in for many years. We are also known for our pleasant customer service. Come by and check us out.

I have owned Parma for 23 years. The past 22 with my business partner who passed away this year. I am happy to say that our standards have stayed the same. We walked in at 5:30pm and were immediately greeted by the lone female server, who seated us at a table towards to back of the restaurant. The interior was very clean, and lighting was soft and warm. The giant restaurant logos on the walls were prominently displayed. Their menu featured a wide array of appetizers, soups, bibimbaps, cold and hot noodles, meat dishes, etc. We opted against their signature kalbijjim and instead got three entrée combos (L.A. galbi, spicy pork, and bulgogi). Each entrée came with our choice of tofu soup. Half a dozen banchans were brought to us before the arrival of the entrées. The buchu (chives) and baechu (Napa cabbage) kimchi were excellent. Our food took about 15 minutes to arrive. Portion wise, the tofu soups were of decent size, but the meat entrées were kind of stingy (they were served in small round skillets). I had the seafood tofu soup and it was very good. It was loaded clams, shrimp, and squid. We shared the entrées, and they all tasted great. The only gripe I had was a couple pieces of the galbi had very little meat on them. Service we received was great. Our server was friendly, helpful, and efficient. The total was somewhere around $130 (with a bottle of soju, a tangerine slushy, and a soda). Overall, we all thought the food was good. Return trip very likely. 4 stars. I was looking for somewhere to cater my daughter's bridal shower in my backyard in my home in Concord so my son told me about Parma, he said they're really good. So I did and they delivered! My son loves to eat good food and somehow seems to find it in every city and every county! He is a regular at Parma they all know him on a first name basis and now they've gotten to know me The food every day is incredible, so tasty and always fresh! We eat at Parma all the time and love their food. Their food is homemade and their portions are oversized so you may want to order a half of sandwich, of half of their lunch specials for which they have many instead of a whole order. Their prices are also reasonable and they also do catering too. I like it there because I can mix and match any thing they have to make a custom mean. They tend to get busy and crowed around 12 noon so we try to get there 30 minutes before noon or after 1 pm so the crowd in less. You will definitely enjoy their food. read more

If you want a great sandwich you cant go wrong here. It is family owned and it shows. They care about the customer not like subwy or someplaces where you have a mionimum wage employee putting in thier time. It is deffinately worth the little bit extra that you have to pay.
