Both Genova Delis in Walnut Creek closed so the number of good Delis is shrinking. It had been a while since I went to Parma Deli and had one of their sandwiches. Parma is on the edge of Concord almost in Clayton but worth the drive. I ordered a Poorboy sandwich on a sweet roll. After Maggoria closed down it has been hard to get a good sandwich roll. The rolls at Parma are excellent, soft, fresh, not filling, sandwich had fresh produce and lots of meat cuts blending into a great Poorboy sandwich. If you were a Genova fan, you will love the sandwiches at Parma. Drive a little further and treat your self to a generous sized tasty sandwich or pasta.

Parma Deli is absolutely one of the best deli spots around. Everything is fresh made, from the food to the salads, and the quality really stands out. Their hot Reuben sandwich is hands down the best I've ever had. If you're traveling through Concord, you have to stop by and try the Reuben -- it's worth the trip.

We were in the area and had read about this being a great deli. Tried to call in our order but they were backed up over an hour on phone orders. We walked in and received a friendly greeting. The shop is small but has sandwiches, a steam table of prepared food, and Italian market staples. We ordered our Italian mix and a BLT. Short time later, a gent brought our food to our table. The Italian mix was packed with meat and fresh veggies. Wife liked that the bread was chewy vs hard. My BLT was full of crispy and chewy bacon. Both sandwiches were really good. Service was friendly- can't ask for much more!

I've been wanting to try that this deli for quite a while, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. This is the kind of spot that feels like it's been doing things right for decades -- handwritten menus, shelves of Italian pantry staples, and the smell of great food the moment you walk in (I swear I could smell the tri tip even after I left!) The sandwiches are huge and stacked generously. I went with the peppered turkey on a soft roll, loaded with garlic mayo, (I requested as much pesto as legally possible), avocado and all the veg. One sandwich could easily be two meals. They've got a solid lineup of hot items, cold salads, and sides, chips and a plethora of cold sodas to choose from. I also love that they rotate specials like mushroom chicken and ribs every other Friday, and the tri-tip sandwiches are definitely on my list for next time. On top of that, they carry Italian goods like cookies, pasta, sauces, and olive oils, which just adds to the charm! If you're looking for an authentic, Italian deli with massive sandwiches and serious flavor, this place is THE SPOT! I'll definitely be back -- probably sooner than I should.

In my search for the holy grail of sandos, I found this little jewel tucked in a small strip mall. Must driven by 1/2 dozen times. So I ordered a classic: pastrami on sourdough. So much meat! I could only eat half. So I got 2 meals for $14. Service was great- constant foot traffic. Will return

It's an odd thing when the service makes a place frustrating. I came in with my family to order a few subs, my wife is feeling the need to satisfy a craving so we decided to hop on into Parma delicatessen. I knew immediately I wanted the meatball sub. This is an item that I traditionally ordered it a lot of different places. This is where it got a bit weird. I wanted to order it with spicy mayo, pickles, and hot peppers. I went up to the counter, placed my order with the guy before asking for the additional items on top of the sandwich, I clarified to make sure it was possible to order them, which he confirmed. He repeated it back to me two times asking me if I was sure which again I confirmed with him on what I wanted. Well that alone was annoying. I wasn't too bothered by the inconvenience. Perhaps he was just being extra cautious. As the rest of the family ordered, and I stood around and waited, I can hear him consistently making chatter about it as if it was a big deal. I don't get it. It's my preference for a sandwich. It's the way I want it. Why does it have to continually be a weird topic of conversation among all the employees? Here's where it becomes tricky because the sandwich was incredible! I would easily order it again. It's just annoying that that gets critiqued, but my preferences are my preferences and I like them. The meatball and sauce were absolutely cooked to perfection. Loved every part of it! The sauce was excellent pickles and peppers were delightful as always. Sandwich 8.5/10

Found my go to deli near home! Small mom and pop shop with an extensive menu and many bread and side options to cater to your cravings. It was my first time coming in and the worker who helped me was nothing but patient and kind. A perfect stop for a picnic since there are many parks nearby! Seating is limited so I would suggest taking your sub to go Forgot to mention: portion sizes are HUGE

I have been here several times and each time, the sandwhich is just as good as the previous. There is seating but it is not much. Best is to take it home to eat! The food here is not only just HUGE but also very delicious. If you are nitpicky with workers using gloves then this ain't the place for you. They do wash their hands after each transaction and etc. Unfortunately my sibling saw one instance while waiting to pay that a worker touched/scratched the inside of his ear before touching a sandwhich he was making. It wasn't ours but it was something they told me afterwards.... Anyways, service is quick and easy. Most of my visits were very chill and laid back. Workers are cool and always nice to me. Probably cause I'm round, short and can barely see over the counter lol. This place can get hectic and really busy at peak times. The wait for the sandwhich isn't long though. You go in, wait for your turn, place your order, wait a bit, pay and off you go to enjoy the monster sandwhich. The sandwhich can be shared or eaten as a whole in 1 meal or split into 2. It just depends how hungry you are or looking for a post-workout meal. The first time I came here, I got the Garlic Herb Turkey (GHT) with Swiss on Sourdough Roll with all the works ($15). I also got the Italian Mix on Dutch Crunch with all the works ($17) for my brother. The GHT +Swiss on Sourdough Roll is a 10/10. The first time I saw this thing I was like "oh sh**! That's a big *** sandwhich!" There was literally a mountain pile of GHT!! It was cool to see that they are not shy in giving a lot for the customers and I really appreciate that! It wasn't dry at all too like other sandwhich places and had the right amount of fixings in each bite. The Italian Mix (consists of Salami, Mortadella, Prosciutto with provolone) is a 10/10 and it was so good that it KO'd my sibling out for the day! Normally he doesn't like sandwhiches but this one was 100% approved. I also have tried other combinations with Garlic Herb Turkey (GHT) and another meat as a combo or just GHT with different type of cheese, Pesto and all the works. They don't skimp on the veggies either. GHT + Provalone on Sourdough ($15) is 9.5/10 GHT + Mortadella + Swiss on Sourdough ($15.50) is a 9.5/10. GHT + Garlic Cheddar + Pesto on Sourdough ($16) is a 10/10. Pepper Turkey + Garlic Cheddar (they put regular Cheddar instead) + Pesto. ($16) is a 7/10. GHT + Pastrami + Swiss on Dutch Crunch ($14) is a 9/10 - Also another banger that KO'd someone for the day lol. I have not yet tried their Smoked Meat and Cheese selection or other possible combinations they have up on the board so we shall see.

Parma is the real deal Got the roast beef with all the fixins & some extra sauce I knew it was going to be great when it came with a stack of 50 napkins on the side

Another great lunch at Parma Deli today. I had the crab salad on soft sweet roll. Son had a liverwurst sandwich and we purchased another box of Italian butter cookies for later. Everyone was so pleasant and helpful as always.

HORRIBLE SERVICE: "Come on! Don't be difficult!" The owner of this sandwich store is a woman with a major attitude. Apparently at this store they cannot toast bread and when I asked to have my roll toasted she said that it is impossible. Her literal words were, "come on don't be difficult," so I said please go ahead and take someone else's order. I've never been told at a sandwich store that toasting bread was difficult. Nor have I ever been to a sandwich store that didn't have a toaster or something for heating sandwiches. Let alone a place that advertises paninis. Over all I think the service at this location and store is horrible. And they deserve to close down for pure incompetence. I'd only recommend going here if you wanted OLD potato salad and OLD macaroni salad. The workers literally look like they're only trying to smear mayonnaise on a cold piece of bread, lastly spit it in and hand you your terrible food with an attitude. I ended up going down to the Mexican restaurant on the corner of the same shopping plaza where they can toast bread. read more

Definitely the best deli in the Walnut Creek, Pleasant Hill, Concord area. I used to switch it up with the deli's but now I only go here. Service is great, all meats are amazing and access is good too. Go here today! read more

Delis are so much better than chain sandwich shops and this is no exception to that rule. The sandwiches here are large and fully stacked with meat. I had the hot crab yesterday, which was served on two long pieces of bread, piled high with crab meat and had melted cheese on top. I always grab the cole slaw here too because it's yummy. It's not drenched with ridiculous amounts of dressing. They have all the normal deli meats and also offer panini, meatloaf, lasagna, and some other goodies along with 6-8 salads. The food here is only beat by the customer service. I think the owners sons have waited on me every time I've gone in. Usually when I'm there, a regular or two come in. The place that been open for at least 20 years. I've only been going for 6 months. I plan on becoming a regular as well. :) read more

Parma is the best deli in Concord. Parma is family owned and they treat their customers as family. Their food is always tasty and they always have a variety, which makes it tough to make a decision at times. The sandwiches are FAT, never skimpy! The pasta and lasagne is always crowd pleaser. So I was craving meat and bread, so got on yelp and bamm.... Parma. The strip mall it's in has my fav breakfast place so I knew not to judge by outside appearance. Place is small but that's the only small thing about this place. They have a big selection of meats, sides, and international treats that you can't find in a local grocer. The ladies were super nice and I had questions about the meat and she was nice enough to slice some to taste. So I ended up with the southwestern turkey with cheddar on sourdough. I also got a side of potato salad. Got home and opened what I thought was a leg of a cow but it was the size of my ginormous sandwich.... Needless to say you get what you pay for if not more. So I will be back, I want to try a few more things, sounds like Wednesday is a good day since they do tri-tip... I don't think you will be disappointed. read more

Great sandos. They are huge, lots of filling, and they make it however you want. Very good selection and all very fresh. This place is great for lunch, and the two ladies behind the counter are always very friendly. I'd give 5-stars except their prices are somewhat steep. (About $6-8 for a sandwich). read more

I'm angry, sad and elated all at the same time! Angry that I have never been here until today on Christmas Eve. Sad that I have had to endure sub par sandwiches and elated that I have a new spot when I'm craving a Sando...I chose the Italian Mix on Dutch crunch roll. Really good. Could have used a shake or two of oil-vinegar mix. Tons of meat piled high. I'm going to try the Muffuletta next trip or one of their hot entree specials . Service was friendly. Unfortunately they will be closed until January 2nd so I will just have to wait a couple weeks. read more

Sandwiches are manwiches they're so BIG! I can never eat it all and I'm pretty good at stuffing my face while drooling. Wow ! I'm speechless. I would consider myself a sandwich connoisseur! I've had a sweet love affair with sandwiches as long as I can remember and since moving to Concord 2 years ago I have yet to find "the go to spot" for sandwiches. I always go to Yelp pictures to help me decide which restaurants look better over others.. it's definitely all about the presentation. I came to this deli on Yelp and everything looked amazing ,so I came here today and this is now my "go to spot for sandwiches " I ordered the hot pastrami with Swiss and every bite melted in my mouth. Not only was the owner and her son super nice I felt like I was at home. I love that this is a family owned business and I just learned they have been here for over 20 years and I had no idea they even existed! I will definitely be a regular to this amazing spot! They have daily special menu everyday, normally like a cheesy pasta, lasagna, warm turkey sandwich, BBQ chicken or beef. Sometimes beef stew. Lots of food for the price. Pretty decent. I eat the cheesy pasta, they always make sure they put more sauce and cheese on there, really cool! I like coming here, I can always find something that I WANT to eat off their daily menu. read more

This used to be my favorite place I would drive 20 minutes to get here. Just went in there told them the name for the order in the guy made a joke in said the name differently I corrected him and then for some reason he felt compelled to say it again. I walked right out. They can keep those sandwiches. I will never go there again. read more

I ended up ordering the peppered turkey with provolone cheese. The lady working behind the counter seemed nice enough, but seemed distracted by a few of the regulars in the store. Yeah, the store is cute, and not a chain, and family run, but I feel that it is overhyped. If you want to support a local business and want sandwiches marginally better than subway, then go ahead and stop by. However, I would prefer to go to Quiznos, then go here. Overall, pretty decent place in a concord strip mall, may stop by if I'm in the area and want a sandwich. Had higher expectations for a 4.5 star place-- That should indicate a phenominal experience. read more

Parma Delicatessen knocks it out of the park again. If your looking for a great sandwich or a hot meal this is the best. Mary the mom/owner and Sam/son are always welcoming and professional. I told them I use to frequent Luigi's down the road, don't waste your time, this is the real deal. Keep up the great food! read more

Yumm-Y! We tried their Ruben on sliced wheat, Italian special on sourdough, cucumber salad, and crab salad. The Ruben had a most delicious sauce: slightly tangy and with kick; most def housemade. The Italian was crazy loaded with a sorts of deli meats. The crab salad was pretty good and the crab flavor was prominent. The cucumber salad was basic with an Italian vinaigrette...kinda wished I didn't order that. This is a family shop and everything is made to order--including the slicing of the meats. With that said, make sure you go with lots of patience because the shop is on the smaller side, with plenty of seats but no ticket counter to hold your spot if you do. We went on a weekday morning to avoid any sort of lunch rush. The shop wasn't busy when we entered, but there was a line out the door as we waited on our order. The slicing of meats took forever because the next two customers behind us got theirs and we were still waiting. My husband was HANGRY when they completed our order, haha, so yeah don't go hungry. read more

Hands down, best sandwich spot in concord. Great prices, meats, breads, and customer service. The ladies running the shop really know what they are doing. You know a place is good when it gets only 4 and 5 star ratings. You wouldn't know it's going to be as good as it is from the outside appearance, but when you get inside, you get the idea. Lot's of local regulars eating their sandwiches and chatting with very friendly counter service. Good italian groceries decorate the walls amongst a collection of old beer bottles. The sandwich I ordered was the oven roasted turkey which they serve only two days a week. The sandwich was as good as a turkey sandwich can get. The sweet roll was soft and delectable. The wheat roll was also soft and portions were generous. For about $11 you can get a huge sandwich, big bag of chips and a Sierra Nevada beer, and when you leave you take have the sando with you. Their hot food items, (that change daily), are good. They will pile on the food in the togo container. Tastes just like homemade, ....because it is! The hot foods taken to-go, feeds two people, or enough to eat for dinner later. Sandwiches I thought were short of Genova's Deli. I didn't like the texture of their imitation crab salad sandwich, too mushed and chopped up, and too much pepper (the two times I've tried it). I'd pick luigi's imitation crab sammie over parma's.They don't have dutch crunch bread. Nevertheless I'm still a fan, because their hot foods are awesome, and so is their attentive staff, so they get my 4 stars. read more

I think I'm sending the employees kids through college cuz I come here almost every day. Can't believe I have lived in Concord for four years and am just discovering this treasure. The sandwiches are fresh and delicious. They do not skimp on ingredients. The staff treat you like family . If you sass the little Italian lady working there she will throw it right back at you, with love of course . Best sandwich shop in Concord. Nobody else holds a candle to Parma! read more

The best sandwiches I've ever had! I always get the roast beef. Very good. The prices aren't too bad but for the food you're getting...it's worth it! The size of the sandwich is also really huge. Layers and layers of meat, lettuce, tomatoes, and etc I think prices range from $5-9. Not too bad, but like I've said ...its worth it. I suggest everyone get a sandwich from here! Customer service is really good too. Only bad thing is there's a small amount of tables if you decide to eat there. read more

I moved to Concord in 2000 and discovered Parma in my neighborhood. I have tried other places over the years but Parma is the first choice on my days off from work. The sandwich prices are under $10 they always come loaded up. I have racked up the "frequent flyer miles" there so they have memorized my favorite sandwich combination. I am always referring them to my friends and neighbors. read more

Great sandwiches and super friendly team - try this place! The only small thing I think they could do better would be to have a more clear menu board with descriptions of the sandwiches. If you're not a regular, you don't know what comes as standard, what your condiment & topping options are, or what they would consider a Mufaletta or Italian sandwich, etc. - it's just a list of names/prices. read more

I specifically requested a bowl for dine in because I strongly dislike eating out of the compostable cardboard containers. They affect the taste and overall dining experience for me. When I asked for a bowl, I was told none were available. The problem was that I could clearly see bowls in the restaurant. I was told they were "dirty" and unavailable. I also observed bowls being used for wrap preparation. I pointed out that there were other bowls visible, including plastic and porcelain bowls, but Store Manager Julia repeatedly cited "store policy" and offered no solution whatsoever. What was most disappointing was the complete lack of effort to accommodate a loyal customer. No attempt to wash a bowl. No alternative suggestion. No effort to find a manager-level solution. Just a flat "no." As a result, my wife ate her salad, my daughter ate her wrap, and I sat there watching because I refused to eat from the cardboard container. I've happily supported Sweetgreen for over 15 years, but after today's experience, that relationship is over. Other fast-casual restaurants like MIXT and Tender Greens have no issue providing proper dine-in bowls and plates when customers request them. The issue wasn't the bowl. It was the attitude, the unwillingness to help, and a manager who seemed more interested in hiding behind policy than solving a customer problem. After 15 years as a customer, I expected better. UPDATE: Sweetgreen responded with a generic, copy-and-paste apology that did not address any of the questions raised in this review. Specifically: * Does Sweetgreen provide dine in bowls or not? * Why are dine in bowls prominently featured in Sweetgreen's advertising and app if customers cannot use them? * Why was no attempt made to wash a bowl or otherwise accommodate a dine in customer? * Was Store Manager Julia correctly applying Sweetgreen policy, or was this simply poor customer service? I am still waiting for an answer.

Their menu featured a wide array of appetizers, soups, bibimbaps, cold and hot noodles, meat dishes, etc. We opted against their signature kalbijjim and instead got three entrée combos (L.A. galbi, spicy pork, and bulgogi). Each entrée came with our choice of tofu soup. Half a dozen banchans were brought to us before the arrival of the entrées. The buchu (chives) and baechu (Napa cabbage) kimchi were excellent. Our food took about 15 minutes to arrive. Portion wise, the tofu soups were of decent size, but the meat entrées were kind of stingy (they were served in small round skillets). I had the seafood tofu soup and it was very good. It was loaded clams, shrimp, and squid. We shared the entrées, and they all tasted great. The only gripe I had was a couple pieces of the galbi had very little meat on them. Service we received was great. Our server was friendly, helpful, and efficient. The total was somewhere around $130 (with a bottle of soju, a tangerine slushy, and a soda). Overall, we all thought the food was good. Return trip very likely. 4 stars. The pork sausage in it was tasty. There is a menu on the wall at the counter. There's also printed menus stacked at the counter. I think the printed one has other items. Ordering is done at the counter and you are given a number to place at your table. Your food is brought to you. There's about 15 tables. Some for two and most are for four. Larger groups can be easily accommodated by combining tables. If you go, check out the beautiful mural.

Parma Delicatesen who knew this wonderful epic delicious delicatessen existed in a tiny little spot in Concord. I was looking for somewhere to cater my daughter's bridal shower in my backyard in my home in Concord so my son told me about Parma, he said they're really good. So I did and they delivered! My son loves to eat good food and somehow seems to find it in every city and every county! He is a regular at Parma they all know him on a first name basis and now they've gotten to know me The food every day is incredible, so tasty and always fresh! We eat at Parma all the time and love their food. Their food is homemade and their portions are oversized so you may want to order a half of sandwich, of half of their lunch specials for which they have many instead of a whole order. Their prices are also reasonable and they also do catering too. I like it there because I can mix and match any thing they have to make a custom mean. They tend to get busy and crowed around 12 noon so we try to get there 30 minutes before noon or after 1 pm so the crowd in less. You will definitely enjoy their food. read more

If you want a great sandwich you cant go wrong here. It is family owned and it shows. They care about the customer not like subwy or someplaces where you have a mionimum wage employee putting in thier time. It is deffinately worth the little bit extra that you have to pay. Why is it we have no problem tipping a waiter 10-20% yet have a hard time giving 10% back to God? I get these random thoughts all the time. read more

Sandwiches to die for, as well as delicious true Italian hot meals! Mary and Sam manage the place with passion and attention to detail, and they have excellent recommendations. Although lunchtime can be hectic, you can always phone ahead and place your order. Everything on the menu is delicious, but the chicken parm is by far my favorite (the meatballs are a close second!). read more

I thought the prices were kind of steep...until I unwrapped what these guys call a sandwich...it was more like a sub...and I'm talking about the kind that people ride in. Tasty, fresh, and oh so satisfying. You might want to starve yourself for a couple of days before going though...you'll need the room. read more

Changed lunch plans and came here on the recommendation of a friend. Best decision! We had the Bleu Buffalo Panini and the Meatball Panini. Also tried the crab salad, it is so good. I see a crab salad sandwich in my future. You gotta come in and give this place a try, you won't be sorry. read more
