Ever since Casa Gonzalez in Leesburg closed in 2008, I'd hoped something opened with great Mexican food with a tex-mex undertone. So when we discovered Parramdo's in Ashburn a few years back, we were so thankful! Great staff, great location, awesome happy hour specials and of course great food. This is my second review of Parrando's. Not so great experience recently... I'd been away for a few months. I was there for happy hour and to get some food to go. I was not offered chips and salsa at all. I ordered a margarita with agave instead of simple syrup and I understand this is often a dollar up charge. Most Tex-mex restaurants offer agave in their grande margarita's as standard. The marg glasses are small mixed-drink glasses, it was served 3/4 filled with ice and with salted rim (I ordered no salt - he tossed the marg in another glass for me.) I got 4 sips for 12.95. I ordered a second one with a cheaper mix, but that was 9.95 and still - just four sips. We have very few Mexican restaurants in this area (none authentic, sadly) and folks expect decent margarita's at happy hour. I was disappointed - the service was not good. The food was good, but the margs should be served in a marg glass. I don't mind spending 10.00 on a margarita, but anywhere else you would get a margarita glass and better service, lower prices for drinks at happy hour especially. My drinks cost more than my two entrees. That's messed up. read more

This is easily one of my favorite restaurants of all time. The food is AMAZING, the staff is friendly, and they have solid drink selections! If you live anywhere in the Northern VA area, this is likely the best Mexican food you'll find for hours. This is a huge place. We wanted to enjoy their patio space but unfortunately, we landed here on a rainy evening. The host was nice and courteous, he did share tissue paper so that we can dry us down a bit. The severs were friendly and great ! The place is huge with lot of seatings. Nice ambiance ! They are located in the Harris Teeter shopping center next door to an Indian Restaurant. We were seated in the front area in a booth for 4. Chips and a pico style salsa was served. This is complimentary. The chips were super thin and perfectly fried. I was not much of a fan of their tomatoe and onion style salsa. We ordered chips and Queso and the chips were thicker and not as fresh as the other ones. I ordered the 3 items combo that came with rice and retried beans. My enchilada trio was a variety of chicken, beef and cheese. It was hot and a generous plate of food. Service was spotty. Others at the table had requested additional salsa refills and finally received it after 3 requests. Our water glasses were always refilled and our plates cleaned off the table. Being a Tex-Mex, this is not true Tex-Mex. It is a hodgepodge of Americanized latin dishes with a few Tex-Mex standards, enchilidas, tacos and fajitas. Extremely over priced menu with OK meals and a wait staff that are strictly order takers. It felt like fast food service. With the high price menu, a little interaction from the wait staff and "beefing" up a few entrees properly would make this a place I would return to and recommend. Absolutely incredibly food. We have tried many entrees and enjoy all of them thoroughly. Our family tries to go here once every month. You will be very pleased with the taste of the food and the great customer service provided by the workers. The Chicken Chimichanga is outstanding and in my opinion, the best in town. The Chicken Enchiladas are a family preferred as well. As far as pricing, we find it to be very affordable and worth it every time. If you are local or visiting the area, I highly recommend this amazing restaurant. Our kids are usually picky eaters but they are in love with the Chicken Fajitas. I recently visited Parando's for dinner and margaritas with friends, and unfortunately, we were left disappointed. The margaritas were not only overpriced but also incredibly watered down. It felt like we were paying a premium for mostly ice and a hint of flavor. Per the waiter's suggestion we ordered the premium Grande Handcrafted Margarita that was 32 ounces for $32.00 we were expecting bold, refreshing margaritas, but instead, we received weak concoctions that lacked any real punch. The lack of flavor was evident from the first sip, I have very low tolerance I didn't feel anything after drinking the 32-ounce. I can't finish the El Jefe from Uncle Julio's because it's too strong and that drink is half the price of the drink we had at Parando's last night. To make matters worse, the high prices only added insult to injury. We felt like we were being taken advantage of, paying top dollar for what essentially amounted to flavored water with a splash of tequila. Overall, I would not recommend Parandp's for margaritas or any other cocktails. If you're looking for quality and value there are plenty of other places in town where you can get better drinks for your money. read more

Loved this placeI It was my first visit here. This is a really spacious and finely decorated mexican restaurant. The fajitas were enormous, plenty to split up as two meals. Large butterflied, perfectly seasoned shrimp and tender grilled chicken. The meal was served with a large amount of yellow rice and a cup of beans plus 6 soft tortillas in addition to the fajitas which meant plenty of leftovers. I also had a frozen pina colada out on the patio which allowed me to imagine being transported to a nice exotic place. If only it weren't constantly being interrupted by many loud, nearby large dump trucks on the road below! I really like their light thin tortilla chips and I have no complaints about their salsa either. If I am out near here in Ashburn again, I certainly would love to come back and dine in again. read more

Steak Fajitas Don't go here if your hungry! You will be sadly disappointed. This is not my first time to this location, but this is the second time this happened. I asked for the beans to be refried instead of what come with it, extra pico and quac which didn't happen. The food comes out fast but the waitress comes to check on you when your halfway done so it's pointless to let her know you didn't what you asked for. The portion size is really small vs the price, you get a 90% onions and 4 thin slices of green/peppers. If you like really tasty food with small potions and high prices and your really not bother by not getting what you asked for then this is the perfect place for you. read more

I have loved this place for a while and feel sad that I haven't reviewed it before. Yes this place has it all, good margaritas, great sangria and some of the best chicken tacos. We were in town visiting and didn't want to eat from a big chain restaurant. When we came across Parrando's we decided to give them a try because of their Yelp reviews and they did not disappoint! I ordered the Lomo Saltado with White Rice and the food was DELICIOUS. The white rice had a very subtle yet tasty seasoning and the lomo saltado was incredible. The churros were really good, but we wish that we would've gotten more. 10/10 recommend this place and I can't wait to come back! read more

Menu is standard as expected from this type of establishment, but there are enhancements worth trying: Shrimp - Camarones Tulum which features delicious jumbo shrimp in a unique sauce. Also notable the carne asada is served whole and grilled to perfection as part of the fajita. Serving portions are very generous. We also tried a desert of fried banana which was very lightly fried and was served with a scoop of ice cream on top. After two visits equally satisfactory we made this our go to Mexican. read more

My first time here and i was irritated as soon as i walked in. The customer service at the front desk needs work. I called to check on my online order and i was first informed that they did not receive an online order for me and they only had one for alice. I then walked in and asked for my order again, i was told they didn't have an order with my name on it. There was one bag sitting on the table. She checked the name on the order and said nope, i don't have an order with your name. I had no idea there was even a Parrando's around here! I saw it a few months ago when I was in Orlando but never got to go so am happy they came up my way! I definitely see potential and am excited to add it to my tex-mex list! The decor is beautiful. As everyone said, the service was great, very nice and on point with referrals and making sure you're doing okay. The only thing I'd change is the salsa! I like a well blended salsa and they have it like pico de gallo which I'm not a fan of. Can't change that part I liked that the chips were nice and hot! So we ordered the queso with chorizo and was surprised that the chorizo that came out was chunks of meat not grounded like most places. We had to use our forks to scoop the chorizo on, which was weird! Definitely think they should use ground/crumbled instead. I decided to get the pick 2 with beef taco and beef enchiladas. Another surprise to find the beef like the short rib beef and not ground beef like most places! Man all these surprises! It was still good with a lot of flavor! My husband got the fajitas and he said he enjoyed it...I mean he did finish the whole thing! We both liked their rice and beans as well!
