It's really hard to find good authentic Persian food outside of big cities like LA and NYC. Pars is one of our very favorite restaurants in Albuquerque overall for any type of food, and bonus that we've finally found outstanding authentic Persian food here. We keep ordering our favorite dishes and tell ourselves we need to branch out and try new things, but their rice dishes are so, so good! Definitely save room for the baklava sundae. Totally worth it. Whether you want a light, healthy meal or a rich, decadent feast on a weeknight or special occasion, this is the place to go. Something for everyone. Love Pars! P.S. Paris has my favorite salmon salad ever! If you have not had it there yet, you must try the salmon kebab salad. It is so good and healthy here! It comes with a side of pita bread too. It is pretty pricey though, so just be prepared to drop some dough And if you are looking for a sweet treat, they have the best baklava! read more

We are moving to a ABQ and took a break from house painting/cleaning to have lunch. We decided to have an adventure since my kids and I are listening to the book Everything Sad is Untrue (about Persian culture). We were embarrassed about coming in underdressed, but the host was very reassuring and Amy, our server, was EXCELLENT! I have to be gluten free and she was knowledgeable and gave good guidance. We tried the stuffed grape leaves and hummus with cucumbers (hubs and youngest ate the pita). Both were very tasty. I got the Wednesday special, hubs got the lamb, oldest got the beef kabob, and youngest got a chicken kabob. All were delicious! We enjoyed the rice and the spice served to add on top (forgot the name). We also enjoyed the pistachio, rosewater, saffron ice cream and hulva. I don't eat sugar, but I couldn't help myself! I highly recommend the Mazeh Plate appetizer (see picture) which gives you a great variety. Pita triangles, falafel, hummus, olives, goat cheese, cucumber salad, dolmades, and a eggplant dip that is just amazing. My husband and I both Lamb Shank with the recommended Zereshk Polow rice. I forgot to take a picture. The food smelled so good I just dug right in! The lamb shank was cooked beautifully and just fell off the bone. The sauce it was cooked in was rich and flavorful. However, the true star of this dish was the Zereshk Polow. A combination of fragrant saffron, perfectly toasted almonds, and tangy slightly sweet barberries. It was so incredibly good. Next time I might just have a bowl of that and call it a day. Staff was friendly and helpful. My only complaint would be the decor. It is a lovely Persian decor, buuuuuut it looks like nothing has been dusted or washed in a very long time. The walls also had a lot of chips and dirty streaks. We went there last Saturday to enjoy a Mediterranean meal. It has been several years since we last were there, so it was like discovering it all over again. We were there for their Saturday luncheon special. My wife and I had a Mazeh Plate as an appetizer. It really was wonderful with dolmas, Feta cheese, Kalamata olives, falafel and other delights. Because we were planning on having two main entrees, we decided upon a half Mazeh Plate, which was enough for us. Their Saturday luncheon special is a Joojeh Kebab, which comes with 2 sides. Not so much to say about Pars. I felt like it's so expensive. Spent $60 for a stew and a salad. None of the entrees come with a salad or pita bread without an up charge. Everything is separate. Tonight was our first time at Pars. The inside of the restaurant is lovely! We told the waiter when we sat down that we were celebrating 2 birthdays and that it was our first time in. He was friendly and great about explaining the various teas and what menu items he recommended. Although the food was very pricey, we all enjoyed our meals. Delicious and fresh! The waiter brought a dessert menu and we again mentioned the birthdays we were there to celebrate. We were surprised that he did not acknowledge it at all or offer a complimentary dessert as majority of restaurants typically do. That part of our experience was disappointing. I had the weekly dinner special which was a lamb kebab with basmati rice, and I had the hummus with pita bread as my side. The food was good however, I didn't think it was anything amazing. The quality was great but I thought it was a little expensive. You are paying mostly for the ambiance and the restaurant being fancy. The inside was beautiful and the chairs were unique. This place can definitely accommodate larger parties as well as catering. On Friday nights this place offers live belly dancing. I liked the food I just didn't like the price. Although I have always enjoyed the food at Pars Cuisine I was appalled at the chintz piece of Persian baklava that is being served as a dessert portion. The dessert was probably a 4th of the serving size that all Persian restaurants serve and with a higher price. The portion was totally insulting. Although I understand that pricing has increased for all food post COVID it is disgusting that your dessert is being passed of as a full portion for a higher profit. I am sure if you keep cutting on food portions you will start losing customers. Something to consider...as my family and I will probably not be returning unless you provide reasonable portions for the price. read more

Nice Authentic Middle Eastern Restaurant located in the Business Center/CBD area of ABQ. It was recommended I visit by a co-worker & I wasn't disappointed. The belly dancer had my full attention & as she danced I envisioned myself & actually caught myself swaying to the music as she did; almost hypnotic. She danced the entire restaurant & even allowed 2 young girls to mimic her movements as she danced. I'd like to learn the "dance of the 7 veils", sorry John the Baptist. The food was very tasty & explosive, in a good way, to the palette. I ordered a Mazeh combination platter, as suggested; it allowed me to taste 3 different sauces & a very fluffy & lite rice... scrumptious!!!! I also had the shirazi salad & it too was delish!!! I didn't leave room for authentic baklava, which I'm sure was lite, flaky & also palette pleasing. I loved the decor & the sunken bench seated area in the middle of the main dining room floor. We've now been here twice. I had the infamous soup. It's really good. First time I came I ordered the lamb shank. Falls off the bone. True comfort food. Second time I ordered the lamb soulavaki. It's a huge portion of rice and salad. I had to bring half of it home. However, my husband polished it off with any problem! And he had the soup to start! It has been a long time since I have gotten it o eat Persian food. Many places but they rarely fit the bill. when you walk in here the atmosphere is absolutely exquisite. There is a fountain in the middle of the restaurant's floor, it is quiet and the staff are there immediately to help seat you. They hang in the shadows waiting for you to put your menu down to take your order. My drink was always full even though it was mostly ice lol. The waiter was great. That is always a plus in my book. Non intrusive, I love it. The menu is not so large that you can't decide what you want, but large enough to have what ever you may want. The pricing seems a little steep but the food taste amazing and in my book I will sacrifice a little more cash for food that is cooked fresh and taste great. The lamb kabob was arranged to be visually appealing. I can not say enough good things about this place and the only negative is the price, but is it really when the experience is this good. Pars cuisine is the kind of place that keeps calling you back. And if you're smart, you'll return again and again to taste the many delicious treats that Pars takes their time time make from scratch. Their Chicken Souvlaki is juicy and flavorful. and their Soup Jow (pronounces Joe; barley soup with vegetables & lemon) is healing. We often order the Vegetarian Specialty when we want a bit of everything--dolmas, Greek salad, tabouli, spanakopita, falafel, hummus (the best I have ever tasted) and pita. They have weekly lunch and dinner specials, and belly dancers some nights. They make their own key lime pie. Pair it was a Turkish coffee and you'll go home euphoric. You'll be convinced that Pars is special enough for date night, and healthy dining for any other night of the week. There are many tables for large parties, small intimate settings for date night, and a large tent-like atmosphere in the center of the restaurant with floor seating (my fave!). You'll think you left Albuquerque. If you dare, stay after and smoke a hookah outside on their patio with one of their adult beverages or the homemade Doogh (A cold savory yogurt-based beverage that is mixed with salt and mint). When we walked out of the theater after sitting through a fantastic 3 hour movie, my daughter and I were both starving and with so many choices near Century Rio we wanted something we hadn't tried yet. Pars Cuisine fit the bill! Walking in the first thing we noticed was that the decor was beautiful. I think we were expecting something a little more casual, sort of along the line of Chello Grill--but this is a fine dining experience. I felt a little under dressed if I'm honest. No worries though, this is Albuquerque after all We were promptly seated and our server took our drink orders. They have several types of tea so my daughter chose the orange blossom tea, hot. I chose pomegranate white tea, iced. Both were very good. For dinner my daughter chose the lamb shank which is served with saffron basmati rice. I chose the special, chicken barg with Zereshk Polow, a basmati rice pilaf with slivered almonds and barberries. It came with a wheat barley soup starter. Our food came out quickly and wow! The soup was delicious, well seasoned with carrot shreds that were not mushy and over cooked, but still had just a touch of bite. So good. While we waited for our entrees, we were greatly entertained by a beautiful belly dancer who went from table to table. So much fun! But the entrees--the absolute best lamb I have ever tasted. My daughter gave me a bite to try and it was fall off the bone tender and so wonderfully flavorful! My chicken barg kebab was marinated in delicious spices and grilled to perfection. But the zereshk Polow rice. Oh. My. Gosh. Easily the absolute best rice dish I have ever eaten in my entire 53 years. I would literally just go back for the rice. The saffron rice, slightly sweetened with the crunch of toasted silvered almonds and then that sweet/tartness of the barberries. I could easily eat this dish every day. Yum! For dessert I tried the classic Greek baklava. It's my favorite. My daughter had the Persian baklava which was a sampler of several different desserts. All were delicious and the perfect finish to easily one of the best meals I have eaten in Albuquerque. We went into Pars Cuisine expecting a tasty meal, but it fully surpassed our expectations. Go eat there soon! You will not regret it. And pay the up charge for the zereshk Polow. Trust me. read more
